I was wondering as well. I was a member of the church till 2005, and I know the rules are clear...... Please is this Yetunde the mother of the 3kids? aglomar: White wedding after 3 kids? |
I stand by my assertion jmaine: Kindly stop this exagerration . . . .WTF |
Lie number 1.... as at 1999 Olusola Adekonla was the tax consultant of Lagos State. |
I have not done the numbers, and I question the basis of you capital cost estimate for starters. I will only rely on credible and certified figures and not what you "drove" there and observed. Putting this into consideration, discouting by 50% will be baseless. lagbaja: I was conservative in my estimation because i didnt bother factoring in the other sources of income, like adverts and others. I also made a 10% provision for overhead costs . If you doubt my estimation on the number of vehicles per toll point, you can check it out when next you pass there. I have done this routine check more than 10 times, the actual throughput is about 5 cars per toll point per minute. The weighted average toll rate is also above N100 because there are so many SUVs on that route and they pay N150, saloon cars pay N120. Don't also forget that revenue will be on the increase as the year goes by because the population will be on the increase. Again, I didn't factor that into my estimation. |
Thankss Mr. Koruji, I was about positing the same thing. I wonder how feasible is using world back bench mark in a country where the level of uncertainities and risks are very high. I am not too certain that you just work into international banks and source funds quite easily and they simply tell you is 10% over the top..... We should be aware that a consortium put this together, there are counterpart funding, venture capiltalists etc the dynamics are not that simple, or else it would have been put together long ago. I'm also curious on your conclusion of average of 4 cars per minute stretch over the 30years, knowing fully well that there were periods of glut, when they throw all the gates wide open and all vehicles pass free of charge and there are periods where the traffic is so scanty. I'll be very careful with numbers except it's authenticated My take on the issue of pricing is that even left to forces of demand and supply and other factors it will follow the bell curve.... Shebi telecoms started with 50naira per minute, when they needed our monies to rapidly establish their infrastructures. The tolling fees will go up and come down with time. It is only that the government will not sit by the sides and watch LCC milk us. koruji: Your calculation provides some insight but is incomplete. |
@Sayit_oit1, Stop lying. There is no BRT lane on the Lekki Expressway. There was never a time we were told the road would be four lanes and later reduced to 3 to cover cost of street light and beautification. These are outright LIES.
As far as I know, this lekki-epe road is a SCAM by the Lagos state govt or ACN. Initially, the road was to be 4 lanes. It was later reduced to 3 so the cost would be used for street light & beautification. 1 lane out of the 3 would be designed for BRT still leaving us with the initial 2 lanes we heard. The summary of the whole road scam is that we'll be paying toll for atleast 30years for the construction of BRT lane. ...lagos is working
|
@Kx, 1. The newly constructed Ibeshe road in Ikorodu is probably one of the best road constructed in Nigeria 2. Agege motoroad passing from the Ojuelegbe thru mushing is a standard road by all means, not to talk of some of the inner roads constructed in mushin. 3. Isale Eko? Haba! the CBD roads is Isale Eko covers about 40 streets Kx: Is Dolphin- Ikoyi-(rich man area) now the basis of accessing the availability, nature and quality of public infrastructure and service delivery in AJ,Oshodi,Mushin,Badagry,Isale Eko,Ikorodu,Okoko, Amukoko and other poor man areas in Lagos now? |
@ X-2-X, After going through you posts, I must say that you are either deliberately or ignorantly misrepresenting issues here. I sense a tacit covering of the realities on ground 1. I live in Lagos. 2. My office is on VI extension. 3. I frequently pass the said road. 4. I have a property in Ikota Estate. 5. We have two staff buses that plies that route. 6. I have not less than 25-30 collegue living on that route, part of whom drive their cars to work every day. 7. I plied that road every weekend for 23months during my MBA in Lagos Business School (2008-2009). I lived in Ikorodu then, and I drive home through Epe every Saturday after lectures..... I needed to build the above background to show you I am very familiar with the road. These are some of the realities 1. Please Let's be factual, and I make bold to say that It is a LIE that the traffic situation on Lekki expressway has not dramatically improved. Compared to what I went through in 2008 and What is obtainable now is more than the difference between light and darkness 2. Please explain to me how the interest of the supposed "tax-payers" and "masses" would have been protected any better? By not tolling at all? (Mind you even the Federal government have announced that the Lagos Ibadan express way will be tolled) or Was anybody's house pulled down? or how? I also wonder how tax-payers would be identified from non-tax-payers who ply the road 3. For me the reality is that according to best practice, the rule is to provide alternative roads. Are there alternative roads, the answer is yes. The arguements that the alternative roads were there before lacks merit. The reality is that there are alternative roads and people use them. Our 2 staff busess plying the route use the alternative roads. Most of my colleagues use the alternative roads. So I'd rather you put things in proper perspectives. 4. the Issue of the cost of tolling is relative and it depends on how we view it. These road was Private sector financed, these private sectors guys got the investments from somewhere. Thinking through the chain, the cost of funding, the period of repayment, the dynamics of volume of traffic etc, then you'll understand that the tolling was not just thrusted on people. We were witness to the period when LCC was taking stats. 5. wrt 4. above, it's also unfortunate that not everybody can be satisfied. I am not too sure how realistic it is for a civil servant on very low pay be living in Lekki and working in Ikeja, except that person has other means (Legit or otherwise). The average cost of renting a flat in Lekki Axis, Phase I, PhaseII, Agungi, Igbo Efon, Femi Okunu, Chevron Estate, Estate across Chevron, Ikota, Aja etc starts from about 600/700k and in excesses of about 2.5/3m. I will be suprised if a Civil Servant on 50k a month, will live on these axis and work so far away, drives his car through those toll gates. Even for the high income earner, it's by choice. That is why there are alternative routes and you could take a bus. 6. For me a critical question is Who is really complaining? The Lekki residents I can understand bearing the brunt of the initial discomfort this new change will bring. But for those of us who dont live in Lekki, hardly go there, have not been to these alternative routes and we write about some fictional hardship...please spare me. I make bold to tell you that even before the commencement of the project, some of these alternative routes have been built by government. You had more than 3 ways to access Shoprite, from Oniru. You cold access Oniru via Ligali Ayorinde. You could access the alternate road either from Oniru end or the waterworks at the end of Ligali. 7. Your take on the toll collection approach also betrays your ignorance. My brother it was all over the media for almost a year the different approaches to tolling. We were told of electronic tag, that you go to any of the designated back, pay for, load credit on it, and stick it on your windscreen. There is a designated queue for those with e-tag, and their lines goes faster. So my take is still that for all intents and purposes this road is a far better alternative, than what was there before and the value it brings to our collective commonwealth. On my recent trip to Boston, I paid $5 for toll, the taxi driver simply told me my fare includes it. In South Africa, they have roads similar to this and actively collects tolls...so this is pretty standard. If we keep harping on the masses and stuffs like that at the expense of living in a quality environment, they we end up worse off, at the risk of joining the masses and the poor
@mr-cali Spot on. The difference between Lagos and Texas not so much? Are you for real? Let us not delude ourselves by suggesting that Nigerians in the diaspora are in support of this project therefore it must be right. Nigerians in the diaspora who have experience of similar projects elsewhere are bound to welcome the same thing happening at home. This is normal and is based on their presumption that the Lagos project is planned, being executed and delivered openly, transparently and efficiently with the interest of the tax payer and the masses kept paramount at every stage - as is the case with the diaspora projects they have experience of. In the Lekki-Epe Toll Road project, what effort was made to protect/ensure the interest of the tax payer and the masses? All I see is the interest of a certain ex-Lagos Governor being protected at all cost. The reality is that it is the guys at home who use that road on a daily basis that are feeling the pain - naturally, they are the ones that would complain. I am all for infrastructure and I am all for public/private partnership. In fact, I dont' mind a toll road at all but it will be hard for anybody to persuade me that the tolls are not too expensive. lawyer has an illustrative example on this thread. Do you know what the average wage is in the Federal and State Civil service? If the toll rates were sensible, most people will take them for granted and megastu will not even be raising concerns about alternative routes - nobody will even be talking about that. Also the toll collection approach is causing people grief. Is there not a better way? Why are they not vigourously promoting faster methods of toll collection. Clearly their attitude is as far as they get their money, they really can't be bothered - is that the way in the diaspora? And someone else was talking about Lagos versus Delta, implying that the Lagos people should be grateful to God for what they have in Fashola. Well, we are, but we are challenging him to do more, to implement more people oriented projects that will affect quality of life of his people and we know he has the heart and the brains to do much more. The fact that a buffoon is the Governor in Delta state does not mean we should limit our expectations of Fashola. Or is that your argument? Èkó ò ní bàjé oooooo!
|
Oh! shut it. While at it, give us some suggestions on how Lagos should have been..... babeface3: Classified ignorance in Nigeria, or is it a sheer act of sycophancy; are these accolades based on comparative achievement or on the veracity of empirical statistics quoted to hoodwink the less informed majority? How much revenue and allocation were revealed as a tool? i weep for my people |
I was wondering as well. Haba reasoning is really declining.... jt2010: Bros quit hating.... redesigning and building of mega primary and secondary school does not automatically translate to investment in the manpower of the state but a merely fact of developing the infrastructure need of the state... my simple question to you... are those mega primary or secondary school you are referring new or has been in existence before |
Please stop being disingenous. 1. We've lived past the times of Jakande. Jankande has done his bit then and Fashola is doing his 2. I'm not sure whether you were mischevious enough to forget the fact that the same Jakande (who is in the same party as Fashola) has publicly lauded Fashola strides.....and not on one or two or three or four of five.....ocassions anonimi: Abeg tell the ACN/ Fashola sycophants here! |
I think it's high time you folks with such a jaundiced view to shut it. Except you're bereft of any critical reasoning, What is it that you really want. You blame leaders when they are accused to be redundant. You blame leaders still when they are ajudged to be performing. What do you want? Please stop speaking jargos. Unwarp "empowering people" and "protecting their livelihoods" Accomodating more Okada riders and allowing wanton disobidience of traffic laws??Obi1kenobi: See fangirls and sycophant bumlickers everywhere. It's the Politics section and those with legitimate, justifiable views are entitled to air them. Fashola is a highly overrated Governor as far as I'm concerned. He is probably one of the best governors in Nigeria but that isn't saying much considering the failure of leadership everywhere. It's just symptomatic of a society that loves to laud mediocrity that he's placed on a pedestal. Empowering the people and protecting their livelihoods should be the foremost responsibility and he's failed in this with so many anti-people policies. |
@Afam4eva, I was expecting something analytical and well elucidate and nothing this shallow. So the best justification of Rochas and Amaechi is "Free Education" and "World Class Educational Facilities" ?? come of it. Apart from positions that pointed your case to have some semblace of inferiority complex, I'll rather submit that positions not well thought through mostly come out badly delivered1. You two criteria mentioned are things of the past in Lagos State. Free Education up to secondary level had been implented by Tinubu since 1999. The jury is still out there on the sustainability of free university education, but pray tell, was it not the governor collecting "acceptance fees" I wonder how he'll build a University worth its salt at this rate. Tinubu's government had built "world class facility model schools" which Chinese Engineering company was commissioned to build in each local government, starting with the one at Agindingbi besides RoadSafety over 7years ago. So you're simply celebrating what has been achieved in part and wholesome a decade ago.2. Investing in people is not only by conventional education. It is even public awareness that there a huge niche in the informal education sector. It is not everbody that must go to Uni...in a nutshell. what of the technical schools? what of the skill development schools? Let's be realistic. The Chineese have their home-grown informal educational institutes that train their people and they churn out products of different kinds. Has Lagos done anything to balance both? the answer is yes. If Samsung and Lagos partnership can be put together, so who is Lagos State government investing in? 3. The game of governing a state is multi-faceted and requires a multiproged approach. If you read Fashola's speech with a thinking cap on you'll know it's all about the people of Lagos State afam4eva: A governor like Rochas and Amaechi have done well in investing in people from their states. Amaechi has built world class educational facilties with one of the best facilities you can think of. Rochas launched a FREE educational program from primary school level to the university level. Some people say it's not sustenable but as it stands, the program is still on and until it goes to the backdoor, we have to give the program the benefit of the doubt. These two governors have invested heavily in the education of their people. |
I thought I was the only one that observes the guy o!!!
Good! Hope the one I see every morning driving against traffic on the Third Mainland Bridge Interchange at Adeniji will run into BRF someday ... Pray today!
|
... so they'll leave LASU and go to where ??...... IMSU ........ no thanks, even on a free ticket....PointB: I think it's a smart move to slash the fees for non-indigene. Hostel building (and associated activities) is about to witness a boom in Imo State. LASU students will surely benefit from this move! |
@Ochallo, Have heard of the parable of the arabian virgin? Nutshell! the husband passed out in bed on wedding night. Reason? She took the whole 18years of abstenance in one night..... ![]() ochallo: I don't believe this couple are going to have sex , the whole night would be sent praying and thanking GOd.But tell me, are those Bros DL members too I could not but notice the tapping and nicely fitted suit of those guys |
@OP 1. You wan cause katakata O!. First some people wanted us to believe there is nothing is Lagos, that Lagos is dirty and the roads are all bad. You know NLrs that have been to Lagos on the pages of internet. You want to serve them humble pie a la carte? 2. At this rate you will only "congest" Lagos the more. I bet you many of the NL folks that had been hating Lagos will take a night bus and be here tomorrow @ badbele on page 1, @OP was on the travel section if you checked and not the political section. Must you guys attack Fashola, Tinubu and ACN at every chance? even at the expence of making you look stupid? |
I was actually hoping someone will "disappoint" me as I have given up on many of you NL lot of "jumpy thinker". @ Rhymz, thanks forbringing out the critical issue. I read thru the exerpts 2x and even used CTRL+F to be sure the guy used the word "pity" I think we should respect the guy for being sincere and being decent in the way he refered to his wife. For christ's sake he actually refered to her as a good woman.....no wonder this generations fails NECO and WAEC with reckless abandon.... rhymz: WTF is wrong with all these kids commonting like MORONS?? |
If thse mall is truly Peter Obi's, then I must say there is really nothing to worry about. Peter Obi's family has been one of the richest, even before he became governor. They have had many bussiness investments and franchises long before the awareness came. |
![]() tedfx4life: Can we just stop all this... Both are good. I prefer Ibo Garri for Eba. Since I tried the yellow garri with Efo elegusi and "Ila Alasepo" shuuuuuuusssshhhh!!!!!! It was "Fantastic-Cocastic-and-Spritistic" ![]() I'm used to Ijebu-Garri for Eba as well, but I'll never forget those bording house days, when we'll rather "soak" "Ijebu-Garium-Sulphate" and none other. Have you tried Ijebu-Garri with very cooooollllllldddd water (no sugar, no milk) ![]() |
@ Madam Uyiekpenm, 1. If you follow my trail or any other dynamic and resourceful persons on NL, you'll know that they are intellectuals. 2. Tribal issues is persisting on NL because you guys make it to stay. If you ask my opinion, I'll advise you to be a among the first set of people to back out of tribal issues and cleanse NL. If we can do it on NL, we can do it in Nigeria. 3. If we keep barking at each other "Yoruba people", "Ibo" people, we are just destroying ourselves. I enjoy when I see contributions that add value to my spirit and not tribal issues. 4. I assure you, if it's an Ibo man that falls into this mess and he is innocent, I will tell the world about his integrity as I'll want some people who know me to if I get into unfortunate circumstances uyiekpenm: See hw u people are trying so hard to convince people of his innocence but when it involves an Igbo man you yorubas will judge, condemn and kill the person without trying to find out the true story. Once more the yorubas on this forum need to change their ways for peace to reign. |
A positive here is that some of us that have reached our busstop can use this as a birth control strategy ![]() |
@ Oga Table Leg Thanx. 1. It's unfortunate that the case dragged on for so long and the truth did not prevail before Mr. Okunlola died. 2. I pray that the whole of Nigeria will know the full story soon and some day 3. I would not hide my identity here, as this is a case I'm directly involved in. Mr. Abiodun Adeyemo is my maternal uncle, I lived with him during some holidays back in secondary school... we were so close, he thought me golf. 4. Mr. Okunlola and Mr. Adeyemo are thoroughbred professionals. They were both top staff of Pfizer, before they went different paths. Mr. Okunlola invited Mr. Adeyemo as General Manager of Barewa to help him add some vigor to the company. 5. The "My Pikin" issue (actually the mixture is called "Na My Pikin) is very sad. I hope Dora Akunluyi and her co-conspirators can sleep. 6. The Truth is when the death were alledged, She rushed to the media and said a whole lot of unfounded and unsubstantiated stuffs. Standard Procedure should have been a proper investigation and then come to the media with the results of your findings and not conjectures 7. I was at the court on 2-3 occassions, NAFDAC were just "dancing" around with irrelevances. I remember a Northern Lawyer representing NAFDAC that quoted a case to backup a point he made, and the judge had to correct him that he was actually shooting himself in the foot. At the Judgement granting the trio bail, the Judge to my suprise said as part of his speech that "he cannot be intimidated, either by the local or any supposed international body". Now Let's check the trend 1. There's probably a theory that Dora just played the media card to enhance her position to be a minister. Recall shortly after then she was made a minister 2. I can tell you that even the current NAFDAC chairman told some people in confidence that NAFDAC has no case, but his hands are tied. 3. NAFDAC was actually the people that contributed to this case dragging over 3years. The Kaduna angle actually beat my imagination. We wasted time and resources going to Kaduna, only for the judge to throw the case out for lack of diligent prosecution. The truth is that it was a trap to re-arrest the trio. The trio had to go underground in Kaduna and appeared in court without NAFDAC being able to track them. Do you know that; 1. Till we speak, NAFDAC has not been able to produce a single death certificate of a child that died as a result of the teething mixture in court? 2. Do you know that someone tried to plant "evidence" at Barewa to further implicate the trio. If not for watchful neighbours that caught the lady and when she was about to be lynched she confessed It's sad that Mr. Okunlola is dead. It's a shame how we kill the our people and our future with stupidity. 1. How did NAFDAC or any government agency prosecute the Pfizer case in the north. Did they hound any of their executives in the detention and untold truama? 2. Mr. Okunlola never recovered from the shock of that unfortunate saga. His factory was inspected over and over during the investigation, nothing was found. No contamination whatsoever. 3. Mr. Adeyemo is hanging somewhere now, not being able to work, trying to get his life back. I pray he doesn't go the way of Mr. Okunlola. Mr. Eromosele is the youngest of the trio and I hope we've not messed up his life too. 4. I thought we should be helping local entrepreneurs to grow and build a viable Nigeria brand and not the other way round. Let's assume a scenario that Barewa was found culpable, sane countries would have done stuffs like working out solutions like compensation, tightening of regulations and supervisions, setting new standards etc by such a way the industry will be better for it. I was in the States few months back and I was astonished at the number of adverts of different kinds of drugs for diverse ailments that we don't even know of. The drugs industry is one of the top 3 money spinners in the US. Investors actually pump money into research labs and Pharmacist and Pharmacologist would rather work in those labs.... In Nigeria we kill everything If Children died as alleged, I commiserate with the families; but we need to ascertain the truth. Did they die of the teething mixture "Na My Pikin" or something else.
Dude have some respect ... Or get lost!!!! If you knew the inside story you won't be all up here spewing nonsense .... Dolt!
|
@ Oga Vascey, I'm sorry I disagree with the underlined. I'm not too certain what "profit far above your normal ROI" will be, but taking it on its face value, experienced businessmen (not to talk of highly experienced and rich as Maduka) will have spoted that out in a glance. I'm certain that the economic analysis presented to Maduka would have included all the assumptions and Maduka would have given it to his analyst to quality check......funily enuff, you could be right O!...... But trust me, this alledged defrauding is actually what separates a player in that industry (Uba) and an investor (Maduka). Dangote normally as a rule of thumb does not invest in businesses he doesn't know. vascey: Saw Maduka on Channels this morning really vibrating. |
It will seem to me that the OP himself/herself is suffering from inferiority complex - "low class faculty" or simply a juvenile. |
Until GEJ's adopt the global approach of "We don't negotiate with terrorists", then all these rubbish wont stop. I mean how can these Boko Haram sect be demanding terms when they should be standing trial? |
@ Oga Supereagle, 1. It's a crying shame o, but not too late. 2. We can replicate Songhai farms in our locality as well and probably grow the model to be bigger than what's in operation in Port Novo. My Boss told me off an excursion to one the biggest of such farms in the US, He thought the size of the farm is almost that of VI supereagle: It not good news, this was begging both State and Federal Govt then for a piece of land to start the Shongahi farm in Nigeria, every move he made then was turn down.He approched Rep. of Benin, they granted him all he requested for and he set up the project at Port Novo.Who is loosing? |
1. I have been postponing my enrolment at Songhai institute for about 4year now do to other projects on my hand and I pray my December 2013 target will be a reality. 2. Honestly, we all need to key into the Agric-business drive/wave, As that is where the juice will come 3. The good brother that said Fashola had no business investing in agri-business and leave it to private sector in other thread; I tot I told you that Lagos is a top proponent of PPP |
1. I remember early period when my girl friend (13yrs ago, now my wife of over 8yrs) almost dealt me an instictive slap for kissing her in front of her cousin..... fast-forward 13yrs to last week, My madam kissed me (deep and good french)in front of a decorator for giving her a brand-new kitchen..... 2. I remeber one day I was so much into "it" and Kissed my wife, only to realised the kids were at a corner in the living room. My smart madam invited the kids to come "and take their own kissing too" ![]() 3. PDA, me self I'm not into such, especially some nonesense you see on flights and train rides and streets abroad, but I like some special moments.... |
