My Brother,

1. Please don't let the corruption on NL infect you and don't waste your God given talent, because I want to make a basic assumption that you're smart.
2. Well If you read the article very well, the exercise was started by his predicessor, Akala, a PDP man. Ajimobi only completed the exercise which is necessary
3. Pray, tell me, what is more important, having a lean, effective and true workforce or a multitude ridden with fake certificates and a drain on the revenue of the state.
4. This particular type of problem is in virtually all states in the Federation. We've been awashed of ghost workers that government finds out and sacks on a recurring basis.

Ournaija: How are we sure they were sacked for the afore mentioned reasons? Something tells me that they were sacked because there are PDP members. undecided

You guys fly false information so loosely here and it is dangerous. Anybody living back then knew that the primaries that produce the candidature of Y'ardua and the likes were fraught with widespread irregularities, money-4 votes scandals and it was a complicated mess.

....and it is false that it was MKO that told Babangida to cancel the primaries. check your fact. It was Babagana Kingibe (who was Y'aradua's prodigy) that in fact suggested it to Babangida. Babangida taped that conversation and showed it to the late Y'ardua.
that's interesting. Gives a clearer picture of those days. No wonder the north was allowed to vote for him en masse. I always wondered about that.
If your cheap shot at making uncalled for slants as the Aregbesola's initiative as some others have done did not get by, this your reply, for me fails more on arrival. I dare ask, Which country is known for massive investment in Agrichuh Nigeriahuh? then you must be living in Mars. If the fact that ovr 90% of our income comes from oil is not enough for you, which state really has shown capacity for true adaptation of mechanized farming with world class facilities and investment in technology.

Yes, Nigeria needs foreign experts to teach them how to farm, becos when you compare what output/value they get out of their planning effort and investments in Agriculture, you will know that Nigeria is yet to scratch the surface. Needless I tell you that the global demand for food and agric produce keeps increasing year-on-year, and attempts to do things better, smarter and with better output is where to go.

Don't we have experts around here? Sure we do, but guess what, many of them had either ended up in various ministries, frustrated, some left the country and some are in private business......the answer is, even if we have experts, trained where? deploying what technology? getting what investmentshuh?

For me, this is largely planning and should be applauded. Tinubu and Fashola travelled much more than this...and today look at all the investors in Lagos. Do you think investors will just come to your state by email inviteshuh?

I pity NL as you guys are unfortunately and purposely refusing to think and discuss credible things. For me you're not nourishing your brains at all. Pray one of you guys makes it to a state house, you wonder what he/she will have to offer.....I guess all the useless and senseless antagonism will come in handy
salaksmana: @Bontee nothing is wrong when it happens to be a country known for mass investment in Agric. Do Nigerians really need a foreign expect to teach them how to farm? don't we have enough experts around here (even in mechanize farming)? What we are saying is enough of all these travellings and talks, let start something (we already saw Oyes and Omeal o) then we can now see reasons for all those travellings.

Politics › Re: Justice Ayo Salami Reinstated As President Of Court Of Appeal? by mapet: 7:26pm On May 10, 2012
I think on Salami issue we should not loose sight of 2 critical things;
1. On the strength of the evidences provided by PDP and ACN at all the trials, did PDP deserve to loose those electionshuh YES
2. On the accusations of Oyinlola, Omisore et al.... Has anything been proven to indict Salami..... Well except Oyinlola, Oni and Omisore can establish sufficient evidence, then they have no hold on Salami on this one. The logs they are refering to is over 3months old and thus deemed unreliable; any Information Security professional will tell you how subsceptible logs are to corruption and the security they need to keep on logs

Now I looking at the below report, it would seem to me that Katsina-Alu influenced Salami's suspension for no just cause. 1. He illegally interfered in a matter that he had no power or jurisdiction over. Did you guys remember how the Supreme court illegally conveyed and gave verdict on Sokoto case; something that was not constitutional?

For me, reinstating Salami and reconcilling them will not save anything. The Judiciary has been dented and stained.

Why Salami should be reinstated – Uwais C’ttee report

By Paul Odenyi, Abuja

The Justice Lawal Uwais Stakeholders Judicial Reform Committee has indicted the National Judicial Council, NJC, of the Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu era of high handedness and abuse of procedure in its recommendation for the suspension of the Justice Ayo Salami, former President of the Court of Appeal, PCA.

The Committee therefore, in its recommendations which had been submitted to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Dahiru Musdapher asked for the recall of Justice Salami from suspension.

In asking for the recall of Salami, the committee noted that the reconciliation between the former CJN, Katsina-Alu and the former PCA was critical to the renewal of the good reputation of the Judiciary in the country.

A special sub committee of three comprising Justice Mamman Nasir, Justice Umaru Kalgo and Prince Bola Ajibola which was mandated to deliberate on the issue said in its recommendation that to maintain integrity of the Judiciary, restore confidence in both the Bar and Bench, the new Chief Justice of Nigeria and his National Judicial Council, NJC, should revoke the suspension and restore Salami to his position as PCA.

The report also said effort will be made to ask Justice Salami to withdraw his suit against the NJC and Katsina-Alu, while reconciliation between the two should be promoted .

Giving reasons for its recommendation, the sub-committee said it reviewed the reports submitted to the NJC by the Justices Babalakin and Umaru Abdullahi as well as the one by Justice Ibrahim Auta, chief Judge of Abuja High Court on the matter.

According to the report of three committees set up by the NJC to look into the matter, non found reason to indict Salami and wondered how the recommendation for his suspension (Salami) was contrived.

“This sub-committee does not intend therefore, to go into them in details. Suffice it to say that when this matter arose and it was realized that it would damage the integrity of the judiciary, the NJC appointed a committee from its members to reconcile the parties and maintain the status quo ante. The Committee included those of Justices, B.O Babalakin, A.B Wali, A.I Iguh, E .O Ayoola and A.A. Akanbi.

Justice Isa Ayo Salami and President Goodluck Jonathan

“The committee completed its assignment after going through all relevant documents from the Chief Justice and President of the Court of Appeal and found no misconduct on the part of Salami, PCA. It said further that the CJN as chairman of the NJC has no express powers in the constitution or in any law to interfere with any proceedings in any court. “ the report noted.

Since the motive of that committee was to promote amity between the two principal officers and save the judiciary of imminent public perception blunder, the NJC accepted the report, while elders of the profession who were members of the Babalakin Committee prevailed on Salami to withdraw his case. However, another incident occurred which was the proposed elevation of Justice Salami as Justice of the Supreme Court.

The proposal initiated by the Katsina Alu at the joint meeting of the Federal Judicial Service Commission and the NJC was turned down by Salami who said he did not wish to be considered for appointment to the Supreme Court. The proposal was later withdrawn.

The Justice Abdullahi Committee report

The Uwais Judicial Reforms Committee noted that the second committee headed by Justice Umaru Abdullahi considered and deliberated on all petitions brought before it by the NJC, adding however, that, like the previous report “ the Abdullahi Panel found, on the totality of the evidence before it, that neither the CJN nor the PCA was guilty of any misconduct on the petitions submitted against them.

However, it established that the CJN (Katsina-Alu) wrote a letter as chairman of the NJC to the Justices of the Court of Appeal dealing with the Governorship Election Petition in Sokoto that they should “put on hold” the delivery of judgement in the petition until the petitions against them were cleared.

The Abdullahi panel said Katsina Alu was motivated more by apparent urge to protect the administration of Justice and avoid breach of peace. It wondered however, how reference to a breach of peace was made when the judgement of the tribunal which was to be delivered in Sokoto had not leaked.

In conclusion, the panel noted that if there was any possible threat to peace because of the pending decision of the Tribunal , the presiding Justices of the Court of Appeal in Sokoto was in the best position to know about it. In any case, it noted that “ Katsina-Alu CJN’s administrative decision that the case be put on hold should not as found by the Babalakin panel, be made by him. The CJN should not have in the first place written direct to the Justices in Sokoto judicial division as the power to do so lies in the President of Court of Appeal.

The NJC had noted the Justice Abdullahi panel’s report that “ be that as it may, the panel had no difficulty in holding the view that under the constitution and the laws of the land, no apparent power has been bestowed on the NJC of which the CJN is the chairman to interfere in any proceedings before the legally constituted court.

The NBA Panel report

Regarding the panel set up by the Nigerian Bar association, (NBA), the Uwais Committee further noted in its conclusions that no case of wrongdoing or misconduct was established against Salami; and that indeed, his answer to the query by the CJN to him was fully justified.

The NBA committee was able to establish that Senator Umaru Dahiru, Senate Committee Chairman on Judiciary in company of Yahaya Mahmud, SAN, had visited Salami in his chambers during which period they tried to convince the PCA to interfere with the functions of the Sokoto Court of Appeal judges in the governorship election petition but without success.

The Justice Auta panel report

The Uwais committee was curious that after the Justice Abdullahi panel’s report was submitted the NJC again constituted a third panel, this time headed by Ibrahim Auta, to consider the report of Abdullahi and make recommendation for the consideration of the whole house. Apart from Auta, Justices Kate Abiri (Bayelsa) and Philip NC Umeadi (Anambra) were the other members.

The Auta committee merely adopted all the findings of the Abdullahi panel except the one relating to the code of conduct for judicial officers. In Auta committee’s view, Salami’s action of speaking to the media to “ ventilate his difference with the Chief Justice Katsina Alu,” contravened the provision of Rule 1 (1) and Rule 2 (9) of the Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers.

However, the Uwais Committee noted that the Auta panel recommendation was faulty because no where in the report of the NJC on the Abdullahi panel submission were allegations made against Salami for talking to the press or disclosing official information to the public.

Concluding, the Uwais committee said: “ on the whole, there was no evidence to show any form of misconduct on the part of Salami, PCA; to justify any sanction or punishment. It is not clear what other evidence was used or relied upon by the NJC at its emergency meeting of September 8, 2011 to suspend Salami from performing his duties as president of the Court of Appeal.

It is also pertinent to observe that the order for suspension was made when his matter was sub-judice.
“In the circumstances and in order to maintain the integrity of the Judiciary and to assuage public feeling and restore confidence in both the Bar and Bench, this committee therefore strongly advises the CJN and the NJC to reconsider its earlier decision on the suspension of Justice Salami PCA and reinstate him to his position as soon as possible and in that way assure the public that the suspension of Justice Salami as President of Court of Appeal is not ill motivated.”

Many guys on this forum are simply pathetic. I thought credible and decent discourse will hold sway, but what I see is needless antagonism. For me some contributions are not worth any attention, because instead of critically scrutinising this initiative and suggestions on how this can be further exetended to bring value, people are talking about " decieving, it is an FG initiative, it is not Aregbesola's, blablabla".

Key points are these
1. Either it's a UNIDO initiative or not, Osun has bought into it and rightly so.
2. I though projects like these are better done in bits and phases. That is 15KW or whatever is primarily base on the feasibility that was carried on the area, local environment, population, and business it will serve.
3. What is key is, this looks like one of the cheapest, Eco-friendly and quickwin project you can get. It's not going to run on diesel or gas, 300 million is relatively affordable, project should be delivered in 15-24months or less. Value and ROI should be go got in 3yrs if well thought out....

@ Gbawe, I probably will encourage you to decipitate your energy on feeding us with more information about the project and how value is tied to it than waste it on needless arguements. We've gotten the necessary basic facts already and if some people wanna throw spanner in it we simply just lay it aside and move on.

Okorocha, The Magician

...by Segun Adeniyi (ThisDay)

On Monday, Governor Rochas Okorocha declared a four-day holiday for workers in Imo State. According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Obinna Duruji, the workers are to use this week to go to their communities and partake in the take-off of the Community Council Government (CCG), which the governor recently instituted in the state. And for this extra-constitutional fourth-tier of government, Okorocha has already approved the disbursement of N5 million to each of the communities in the 27 local councils from a subvention of N3 billion.

Of course, the N3 billion is not captured in the Imo State Appropriation Bill for 2012 which has not even been passed. But then that is a small matter in a state where the governor has practically become the sole administrator, expending public money and coming up with all manner of bizarre ideas without any legislative oversight. Almost every day now, Governor Okorocha awards multi-billion Naira contracts for roads, for schools, for hospitals, for hotels, for farms etc. and you wonder where the money to fund all these projects is coming from.

Governor Okorocha is evidently a populist and there is nothing wrong with populism except that it has to be rooted in realistic expectations. Okorocha for instance tells his Imo people that his state which still depends largely on its meagre allocation from the Federation Account is very buoyant. And with minimal internally generated revenue, he has declared free education at all levels in Imo State and has even decided to be paying salaries to primary school pupils! In fulfillment of that pledge, he actually went to some schools where the pupils lined up for him to pay them N100 each.

In Imo State today, it is one day, one promise. Okorocha is going to build a megacity in Okigwe; he will build two palm oil plantations; he will construct a 25-storey hotel; he will build three universities for the state; he will construct an ecumenical centre; and he has already taken over all federal roads in the state for which he has awarded contracts without any documentation!

I was in the United States during the April 2011 elections but I followed all the drama in Imo and actually wanted Okorocha to win. So when he did, I was very happy. Unfortunately, right from his first day in office, Okorocha started giving people cause for concerns as to whether he understands his brief as governor. I recall that as early in the day as August last year, his brand of governance was a subject of discussion at our editorial board. We marveled at some of his antics and actually did an editorial to remind him of his responsibilities. “His most notable achievement to date has been to make headline news for all sorts of gaffes. From daubing himself in blood and disguising himself ala ‘Aluwe’ while pretending to be a victim of road accident just to make a point about service delivery at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, to whimsical decisions on traditional and academic institutions, Okorocha is literally making a mockery of his office and does not seem to care what people think or say,” we wrote.

We were also worried about the unwieldy nature of his political appointments. In addition to 17 commissioners and 14 Senior Special Assistants, Okorocha had appointed a further 80 men and women as Special Assistants and members of various Mayoral Affairs Committees. For example, he has a Senior Special Assistant on Lagos Liaison office and a Special Assistant on Lagos Affairs; Senior Special Assistant, NDDC and Special Assistant on Niger Delta; and of course he appointed for the state a Chief Comedian who is also a Special Assistant! And while swearing them in, the governor said they would have to source for funds with which to run their offices thus effectively turning them to no more than executive touts.

On March 24 this year, Okorocha was in Kosovo where he signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with their government to construct housing estates, establish an agro-processing plant and build an independent power plant, all in Imo state. When completed, according to the governor, this planned power plant would supply the state with 500 megawatts of electricity! But as I watched the video clip on AIT, something struck me as odd. His host, the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr. Behgdey Pacconi, had spoken in Albanian, the main official language of his country thus needing an interpreter. When it was the turn of Okorocha to respond, he apparently felt he also needed an interpreter so he decided to speak in Igbo language. A former senator on his delegation now had to interpret into English for the Kosovo interpreter to now translate into Albanian. The whole episode reminded me of ‘Icheoku’, arguably one of the best television drama series in the eighties.

But Okorocha is not without redemption as he is also a passionate man. I guess that is why he wants to achieve results quickly. But he must also realize that this is a democracy where planning, transparency and processes are also important for him to leave any lasting legacy. He cannot continue to run his administration by whims as is the case right now.

There is no doubt that Governor Okorocha came to office with a popular mandate and I believe he is in haste to make a difference in his state. But to do so, he must understand that running a government requires having in place proper structures which will enable him to promote transparency and accountability. He must also align the direction and goals of his administration within the available. I sincerely want Governor Okorocha to succeed but for him to do that, he needs to sit down to reflect on the kind of legacy he wants to bequeath to his state when his tenure is done.

just ta add that some of you guys are unfortunately whinners and jokers who resort to throwing abuse and uncomplimentary remmarks for the sake of not being able to process things beyond your reasoning capacity. Is it compulsory that the airport will be built with state money? BA built terminal 5, Easy Jet built some of their airports outside london and Europe. If players in the airline industry understands the immense value and magnitude of this pie, the likes of Air Nigeria, Aero, First Nation, and Arik should have been building their own airports by now....
Politics › Re: Ekiti Plans International Airport Project by mapet: 8:15am On May 03, 2012
Numbers and stats are funny you know, especially when you throw them sporadically without contextual perspectives to back it up. Check the following;
1. If Owerri Airport is functioning at very healthy capacity, then Jibowu Motor Park is as good as Terminal 5.
2. Benin Airport does whathuh You'd better check that statement again. Apart from the fact that even from your stats, Lagos Airport (which cannot even cut it in global Airport ratings) dwarfs almost all Nigerian airports, Abuja inclusive; Benin Airport is near dead zone. From myrads of missed and resceduled flights, to facilities that is not as good as ABC bus park in Abuja.....the list is endless....

Now my tots are these;
1. First off, this is at proposition stage and we have to look at the value proposition. Let the committee come out with their analysis and report first.
2. We need to know that there are some significant enablers of a viable economy. Good transportation network is part of them. There is nothing in any book that tells us that rails system is better than airport system, rather these are meant to compliment each other to achieve an overall objective.
3. I think you guys should also realise by now that government that have come and "flashed" projects in our faces all in the bid to perform without well articulated plan, leaves no legacy. For me, this airport thing is at the planning stage and what more sensible and honourable thing to do than to constitute a committee consisting of the best brains of the Land. What you're seeing in Lagos today was actually a blue-print a committee Tinubu put together in 1999, I remember Dr. Olikoye Ransome-Kutti and some notable leader where among; guess what; some of their recommendation include Airport; and others like Power-generation plants, road networks etc.
4. I think we should not be jumpy to make baseless conclusions, if we are yet to fully understand the background, especially when our seeming immature media, puts up stories from bizzare perspectives
5. Every right thinking governor should begin by now to envision their state 25years from now and begin to lay the foundation. I detest your crap and defeatest stats your throw around that Ekiti is one of the poorest. The poorest country in the world today (Haiti) was the richest a Century ago, and the likes of Malaysia, Japan, China, India were pretty poor 50years ago.
6. We cannot continue to rely on handouts from Federal govt, even if oil exists forever. It has not allowed our leaders to think. Each time you travel abroad we curse our leaders.
7. If you call this airport scheme a white elephant project, I can understand. Our corrupt politicians in the past had done so much damage and still doing so; I mean, when Oyinlola initiated a project to build seven stadia in Osun State, and paid contractors 85% up-front you can understand. Be that as it may, we must move on from the shackles of corruption that has held us down.
8. For me the good thing is bring all stakeholders in a collective resolve to develop Ekiti State, and I pray it's for real. Afe-Babalola apart from being a noteable leader and top legal luminary is a PDP God-father, yet all ready to shelve politics aside a little while for the common good of Ekiti.

PapaBrowne: But really, I don't understand how the whole of the south west survives without any functional airports. Ibadan and Akure Airports are as good as dead.

The South East at least has Enugu and Owerri and they function at very healthy capacities.

The south south on the otherhand has 6 very functional airports all of which are booming. Asaba, Benin, Calabar, Port Harcourt, Uyo and Warri. And don't tell me its oil money because Benin and Calabar don't have oil!
To put things in perspectives Benin Airport alone flies more passengers than all the airports in the southwest put together!!

How do south westerners survive without airports?? Isn't there no middle class in the region??

Airport Statistics
b]Airport No of Flights(2009)
Lagos 85,558
Abuja 41,524
Enugu 6,286
Owerri 4,362
P.Harcourt 22,188

When Channels news carried a marquee on screen back then that Yar'Adua was dead 1yr b4 he died, and Channels was shut down for 24hrs, John Momoh, who was abroad, quickly flew him and it was only then he explained his source as News-of-the-world, a renowned news agency in Europe where they buy there international stories.........

@eGuerrilla and Gbawe,

Sitting on my desk reading this piece from you both gladens my heart. It shows that we still have mature-minded intellectuals who though may not agree, yet argue with fact and from intellectual point of view and not bigots and shallow minds

I am persuded to believe that along a thin line, Osunderfender should have credited the source of the news, but I think Gbawe is right in that in Journalism, once you subscribe to a source, you can publish the news without necessarily creditting the source. sometime this is done for confidentiality and privacy purposes, sometimes it makes commercial sense to just buy-off the news....

For me it's news, it's in the public domain and probity demands that the citizens whose hard-earner taxes are use to fund the government should be told what the governor they voted for does. Therein, the article is in line and Rochas can only come out with facts to defend. I think it's a good trend if we continue to put our elected officers always on the spot and not just sit down and resort to clandestine and inept support while they demonstrate cluelessness.

eGuerrilla: Gbawe Sir,

If we accept that plagiarism is the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own, how else do we qualify Osundefender's sleight-of-hand approach?

"It is a reflection of our openness, fairness, accommodation and impartiality that prominent Christian religious leaders, including Pastors Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mathew Ashimolowo of Kingsway International Christian Church in London, Prophet Samuel Abiara of Christ Apostolic Church, the Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Dominion), Archbishop Nicholas Okoh, Prophet Gabriel Fakeye of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Ayo ni o, among others, have visited me at the Government House and commended our administration for promoting religious harmony in the state.
"

@ Doctorwus, it is either you are lacking in comprehension or you're simply trying to be less smart. Either ways it is rather unfortunate. humor me, where in the statement, the relevant part I copied above, was he stated that religious leaders endorsed his stewardshiphuh or how does the statement "commended our administration for promoting religious harmony in the state" translate into "endorsement of his stewardship".....

I think it's a shame that NL has been reduced to a forum bereft of intellectual discourse and oritentation, but it should not be this bad.......

doctokwus: D part where I knew dis clown got it all muddled up is where he inferred dat d visit of some church leaders is an endorsement of his stewardship. Some religious leaders in nigeria can b bought ova sir,as long as dere personal, selfish interests are served, dey are evn ready to worship d devil.

@ Borntoreign, I must say that you post, an attempt to sound credible and intelligent, is flattly the otherwise. I have for credible and issues based discussions and when I see juvenile and sometimes senile vituperations on NL, I feel ashamed for this generation; but yours seemly tried to bring the issue to focus....then lost it.

First off, asking directly how Aregbesola got money to finance his campaign, in this context, is at best begging the issue. Simple logic. Every good campaign is funded. Donations, contributions, support from the private sectors who stand to benefit from your value proposition will fund you. Dangote, Femi Otedola, Jim Ovia, Tony Elumelu etc have donated monstrous millions to fund the campaign of at least the past 3 presidents and they have in one ways or the other benefitted from it. Has any body taken them to court or the president becos of how thier campaign was fundedhuh

Having Aregbesola to publish a list of the donors? you must be kidding? Betray their privacy and confidentiality? Except a court of competent jurisdiction orders it so, peoples lives are not just opened to the public under the guise of vield trasparency

Your questions 4 & 5 will problably need you to state precisely, beyond asking for transparency, what you realy require. List of companies that have gotten any contract will serve little purpose. If ICPC is asking for the sake of probing for corruption related offences, one can understand, but if just for suspicion without any base, then its all sentiment. How many days he spends in Osun matters less. What counts is Results, even if he likes let him sit at the Roundabout in front of Secretariat in Osogbo for 4years.....

Lastly your piece in reaction to his giving tablets to secondary schools students, is rather subjective. Fine contribution by you though, but we all don't see from the same side of the prism. What matters his that we are all aspiring to the greater good. But let me answer some few fears of yours;

1. What exactly are the students supposed to use the tablet forhuh - fulfil the MDG objective, increase knowledge capacity and gap identified in the third world countries, increase students awareness and ability to grow up to be credible leaders to contribute to the development of the state. this is one of the values that can't be eroded or diminished
2. What good is the table without internet connectionhuh who told you there wont be internet connection. Internet is so cheap now and there are many alternatives. A simple Wifi/Wimax in schools is enough. Do you think the proponents of tablet for all school children are dumb?? Even if some isolated few cannot afford a simple 1,500 internet connection at home, that it is available in school is a good start.
3. How many parents are literate enough to help students do their homeworkhuh what a pathetic question. What of children of illiterates that are now leaders globally today, who helped them to do their homework back then. Is it lost on you that a lost of self service and DIY solutions are abound on the computer and internet todayhuh?
4. Who will provide technical support for all these technologyhuh The Students. that is the objective; train the trainer. that is how developed countries develop their school children. Our students should be able to do from the simple like installation, parts replacement, to mid complex like performance tunning, service support to complex, coding and development, simulation etc.
5. What we need is mass renovation of public school.....yes as part of the initiatives and not an absolute. Mass renovation of schools with less focus on what the school should churn out will be a monumental waste as we are experiencing in Jamb and WAEC and NECO lately

Finally it seem to me that it is YOU that need to study the situation more and get yourself educated on all these Initiatives...

Borntoreign: There is nothing wrong with each state having its own anthem and flag. However, the Nigeria anthem, flag and emblem are superior to those of any state.
To be honest, in my opinion, ACN is as corrupt as PDP. I challenge Gov Aregbesola, the self proclaim "omoluabi" to answer the following questions:
1. How did you get money to finance your campaign in the first place??
2. Who are the donors that donate to his campaign and legal battle afterwards?
3. In the spirit of transparency that you claim to represent, can you (Gov Aregbesola) publish the name of all such donors and how much they contribute to your campaign and the legal battle followed? This can be published on the internet for everyone to see.
4. Can Gov Aregbesola list all the companies that have get any contract under his administration and the board of those companies on the website?
5. Can Gov Aregbesola tell us how many days he actually spent within the boundaries of Osun State since he became the governor of Osun State?

Gov Aregbesola, you mentioned that you want to give tablet computer to every senior secondary school students in the state. I think that money should be put to better use than the tablet. We need to renovate the buildings in public schools first and make sure that is electricity connections in the schools. The teacher needs to be trained on how to use the tablets as well so that they can teach students in turn. What exactly are the students suppose to use the tablet for? Does Gov Aregbesola ready to provide the software that are needed for physics, chemistry and so on? May be Gov Aregbesola is technologically challenge. What good is a tablet without internet connections? Even if you provide internet connections in every schools (which is impossible), what about the internet connections at home? How many parents are even computer literate enough to help the student do the homework on the tablet? Who will provide the technical support for all these technology?
This will end up to be another failed project in Osun State. I dont believe that government should be computer for all students. Parent can do that if they can avoid it. What we need now is the mass renovation of all public schools in Nigeria not tablet computer.

I baffle at the reasoning capacities of some of you guys(this is why intellectual discourse is fast declining on NairaLand). Please note the following
1. No matter the dint of hardwork you claim Oteh has and the good life she's entitled to, she should do such with her Salary and other entitlements and not SEC's which is tax-payers money.
2. If it were a private organization, we could probably tone it down a bit, even at that little financial recklessness that were left unchecked in the private sector brought down these companies.
3. This like this all over the world has brought down captains of industries, CEOs who spent companies money on personal expenses, CEOs whose submitted questionable expense tickets etc.
4. Have you guys ever wondered if you run an outfit and your manager produces and expense ticket of 20k for a meal at Jevlink (which on the average should not be more than 2k) Will that show you a sign of a responsible manager
5. Everything Oteh has worked hard for has been "compensated" by the appointment, huge wages and allowances. Auditors and any other approved regulatory body has the right to question extravagant and questionable spending that goes beyond this limit.
Politics › Re: Herman Hembe Steps Down As Chair Of Capital Market Probe by mapet: 2:39pm On Mar 20, 2012
.....this to me is a pointer that Oteh will be severly dealth with. When you go to battles like this (more like roforofo fight) you'd better strategise very well and make sure your arsenal are well oiled and smoking. Oteh blundered on a point by not getting her facts right. I mean how can you make allegations about the wife of deputy chairman and only less than 24hrs later ThisDay pointed errors in her accusations.

They only asked Hembe to step down so that they can now remove any issue of personality clash and ask her to answer the glaring issues about her namely;
1. 8months in NICON as againt 28days
2. Meals of 85k and 850k
3. 2 Access back staffers in her employ
and many more

Hope they'll not tie it to insider trading, else she's toast.......she's toast anyway
