Unannounced? That's not fair enough. People should have been told days ahead so as to plan their route.

Construction companies are notorious for caring less about the health and well being of the commuters and residents of the area where they work.

I'm always uncomfortable seeing residents subjected to billow of thick dust for days and weeks just because the roads are being constructed. How about regular wetting of the roads?
Bros,

There is no news here jor! You expect them to summon road users and ask when are they going to be staying at home so that they can commence?
When Journalist are bereft of creative ideas, they resort to low-level narratives like these and call it news. Imagine the opening paragraph

Business and commercial activities have grounded to a halt on the Abuja-Keffi boundary between Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Nasarawa State due to a heavy gridlock.
Common sense tells that the road needs be fixed among many benefits, to enhance business and commercial activities. If there's need for sacrifice, is that what should attract the needless noise?

Business › Re: PIB: Like Sugar, Like Cement, Dangote To Dominate The Oil Industry by mapet: 2:49pm On Jul 13, 2021
That publication is either willful or inadvertent ignorance personified.

1. The objective is to encourage investments in local refining capacity and not importation
2. Importation is a disincentive for investment in refineries. There have been many license holders for refinery for over 2 decades who did not even break ground talkless of buying a refining asset. Why would anybody with license consider refinery when he's making mad margins on importations and STEALING from subsidy?
3. The license for importation pegged as such is for cases of sudden increase in local demand beyond refining capacity or cases of deferment (e.g. when Refineries breaks down or are shut down for maintenance). There would have been some off-take commitments which are mostly birthed in long-term contracts. The provision for importation is this scenario is to cover these short-fall when they happen.
4. Dangote refinery is largely provisioned for export. Dangote's products will be bought in $$$. He's incentivised to sell abroad than at home, so importation license is of little use to him as it will rob him of margins
5. The ignorance of the reporter in Oil & Gas business shone through, importation license can never translate to "dominate" Oil & Gas business. Dominate where? Upstream? Midstream or Downstream?

Meanwhile I wonder what some of you lot want. In one breath you want local refineries to be fixed, in another you're complaining of Import license....

It won't make much significant impact. Dangote is not the owner of the crude, he will buy them at international price rate (ex other costs) refine and sell at a margin.

Let’s start with what the value
of $1000 is in the United
States. Is $1K valuable or
valueless in the US?

Do you know that in the US, some
average people’s monthly rent is
over $1000? We haven’t included
taxes and other monthly fees. Now
in Nigeria, apart from few places in
Lagos and Abuja, I don’t think there is a place in Nigeria where
monthly rent is above $100 for a
bedroom apartment. So you see,
with 50M naira annual income,
you’re a million in Nigeria, but a
poor or rather, an average man in the US, UK, and Canada.

DO YOU AGREE? A Man Who
Earns 50M Naira Annually In
Nigeria Is Considered Poor In UK,
US & Canada? Let’s hear from you.

That's an argument between me and my tight paddy!!!

Actually Dangote is not the nig one with an active refining license. Oando has one and some other coporations
...and the problem is that they hold the license and not developing there project. Oando has had refinery aspiration on its website for more than a decade yet there is no refinery on ground. It's because the provision for importation is a disincentive for building local refining capability

Why will they have to Import Fuel? Are they not suppose to be refining Fuel?
Imagine building a refinery and using the license to secure monopoly of fuel importation!

Well now we know the real reason for the hurriedly built refinery!
I believe the provision for importation here is in 2 folds; (a) to cover gaps in demand in a scenario where production either falls short or there's an increase in demand beyond production. (b) to encourage licensee to develop the asset and not rely on imports

There is nothing really serious here, the problem is with the reporting of the news. It is skewed to make Dangote look the villan. How come no one had embarked on a project of such magnitude among the other rich Nigerian. Opportunity does not wait for the unprepared.

I remember after the first week the pandemic was eased I went to him and told him I had a problem and he asked what's the problem and I told him you are like a father to me so I feel comfortable telling you this( I thought after 4 year's a loyal worker can see a boss as a father), I need help because I'm addicted to sport bet. Then he asked me questions upon questions and I was sincere to each of his questions and he asked me if I had any savings left I told him no that sport bet took everything, he asked if I have ever stolen from him I told him if I did Mr shonibare the auditor would have known but after that he changed drastically
Your story is moving.

Let me react to the highlighted above. First of it is a bad move. Let me tell you a story that's almost similar

I remember a boy (youth) in church during a night vigil service, gave a testimony of how he was into gangs, drugs and stuff, he even said he was into cocaine...but thank God he's (was) healed from the bondage. BIG MISTAKE! What his "testimony" signaled to parents was to keep their children away from him. Parents did not trust his story. People said Cocaine addicts mostly never fully recover. The boy did not help his plight any better as he started calling some people to solicit for money, including yours truly.

By principle, I always try to do a background check before I part with money to help people when they come with stories of needing money to start a business..... So I called a priest to inquire about him. I also told the priest that his story did not so much add up to me. The priest said he'd advised him to stay in the background and let him speak to people on his behalf (which would have been a better strategy) but he was impatient, fetched people's number and went on his own. I told the priest I'm not comfortable giving him money if he's not under a supervised program. The priest told me he's not comfortable contacting church members and also that he moved out of the church hostel accommodation (for homeless and help seekers)....I heard enough and engaged him. Told him to return to church hostel, and to channel his request to through the priest to me.... He cut the phone on me and that was the last I heard of the fellow.....

Moral of the story - In special cases like that, you have to be circumspect and wisely choose who will help, and not who you expect to help. Definitely not your Boss. A Gambler is a No! No! for business....If I were your Boss, I will fire you immediately and refer you to a Counsellor. I will not even take you back after you claim you've recovered. That is the consequence....to appreciate the gravity of what your habit means to business.

Now I advise you - Get back to Jamb. Get into a University. That is where your work and savings should be channeled. That is where the Sports Bet money should have gone into

It is pure arrogance, combined with willful ignorance that make most of us southerners see the entire northerners as parasites who cannot survive without the south! Yes, the north may be backward in some ways, but it doesn't mean they can't survive if Nigeria should break up.

My observation is that MAJORITY of you clamouring for the break up of Nigeria do so out of extreme narrow-minded reasoning, pure sentiment, deep-rooted unjustifiable hatred for northerners (remember the igbos are still unwilling to forgive Nigeria and the North for their experience during the biafran war - whether they admit it or not. They are still looking for opportunity to revenge one way or the other). I can go on and on.

To cut the long story short, I am yet to see any valid justifiable reason for Nigeria to break up!
