Truthissupreme: : Jack still use spokesman to address the issue
While a federal minister is the one dealing on behalf of a nation with spokesman of a private firm
Says alot about who is on the receiving end
No, stop being ridiculous and stay objective. Negotiations are on and both sides are not denying it. That Federal Minister is the government's spokesman, that's his portfolio. Help yourself.
Government has nothing to lose to Twitter's irresponsibility, it's just Twitter and people like us who have refused to use APN one day until Twitter starts behaving itself on the Nigerian soil.
And you know what, I'm not losing anything anyways.
So you should commend the two sides for even seeing the need to trash the issues out in the interest of Nigerians who are doing real businesses on Twitter instead of being mischievous early Tuesday morning.
I would have told him "stop being dumb"...asking him to stay objective is needless
Lexusgs430: Are you thinking without ad revenue from Nigeria, twitter would shut down? NO
So the Nigerian populace suffers more....... Do you know how majority of banking issues are resolved, via twitter.........
Banking services did not stop, customers did not stop banking...... So the general populace suffers......
Bros,
There is no banking issues resolved via twitter that cannot be resolved via other means..... or has their been report myriads of unresolved banking issues as a result of twitter ban?
In this issue, twitter might hold their ground, but it is not costing the Nigerian government any sleepless night. It is the people whipping up sentiments making the cry. The newspaper publication did not emanate from twitter nor Nigerian governmen, but journalists bringing the "alleged" clamour of people to light...
calculator123: You know nothing. Twitter made profit despite the ban, Nigerians that survive on Twitter inclusive of Influencers, artiste, entrepreneur and even the NCDC lost money.
So who lost?
NCDC lost money?
You whip up cartoon-imagination in your head and put it out as facts?
belente: Ok till when?. The ban on Twitter by Nigerian government is more than a month now. Government should come down from its high horse and unban it immediately because a lot of hard working Nigerians get their source of livelihood from twitter.
Govt wants to make money on twitter through appropriate taxes. Don't you think government's interest here will be vigorously pursued?
This is what gullible mind fails to understand. A foreign private company cannot take a government headon in its Soverign terrain. That's a lost cause from the get to go. All the western media and government that showed initial support to twitter have beaten a retreat and had to deal with Twitter problems even in their own terrain.
Modrov: Am sure the guy got the job....despite his impressive CV, because of his tribe, not his qualifications.
You're sure? Like you have veritable facts?
Making an affirmation like this kills what would have made a good argument. In fact it makes you come out as marginally different from the people you're castigating.
Modrov: Once you get that Nigerian politics is all about getting your tribe people into good positions where they can 'influence' some perks the tribe's way...you will get the bitterness towards the man's appointment...despite his accomplishments and decent CV.
That statement is not entirely correct. That is what some people want in politics and that is why many here are bitter. Many political appointments have been spot on and have defined benchmarks for the Office - El-Rufai as BPE, Ribadu as EFCC, Aminah Mohammed, Dr. Joe Abah, Dr. Yemi Kale, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu to name a very few....
I don't kid myself on things that are not realistic. I don't even celebrate appointments. I celebrate what the appointee achieves and castigate non-achievements. It does not make sense; we're so centered on achievements and what it leads to is corruption. Many of the so-called in technocrats had been total disappointments...
joelsky: : Well, to the best of my knowledge this is a reasonable recruitment. Northerner or not, this man knows his onions. Ask any ABU physics graduate who majored in Nuclear physics.
explain to me how does a nuclear physicist help with the power sector ?
Are you asking this question for bants or for argument? Both ways it comes out as a patently ignorant question
nextstep: Atomic Energy Commission? Does Nigeria even have a single gram of refined uranium or plutonium? Do we even mine the stuff? We can't refine iron ore at Ajaokuta, but we have atomic commission? Headed by a guy who's never been close to a reactor? An unserious country, aping the West but not really doing the work.
Dumb question, Google is your friend.
When you people cry marginalization and nepotism, you lot need to look at the mirror. When appointments are given to Southerners, you assume its all merit, but when giving to Northerner it is questionable. You do not even want to check their records, their experience and their contributions to intellectual body of knowledge and private sector achievements.
For example, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, a Prof. of Zoology headed the National Space Research and Development Agency for 10years. Did anyone question the appointment? No! because aside from being a Zoologist, he's contributed to body of knowledge in Biotech, ICT and Space Technology
Boroffice was appointed Coordinating Director for Science in the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure in 1992. He worked on biotechnology, Information and Communication Technology and Space Science and Technology which led to establishing the National Biotechnology Development Agency, National Information Technology Development Agency and the National Space Research and Development Agency.[1] In 1999 Boroffice was made director general of the space agency, a post he held for 10 years. Under his leadership, the agency launched two satellites: a low orbit earth observation microsatellite (NigeriaSat-1) in 2003 and a communication satellite (NigcomSat-1) in 2007.[2] He also laid the groundwork for the building of NigeriaSat-2 and NigeriaSat-X, which were launched in August 2011, from Russia.[3]
Sit on your lazy intellectual asses and be talking quota system when people who pursue their dreams Northerners and Southerners get the appointments
OChimex: Lol. You call that local professor quota system, Good Looking CV?
You must be a joke.
Listen in nigeria, there are certain courses that should have be abolished instead of making mockery of ourselves, going by theoretical teachings, because we have zero capacity to do those things practical. Atomic energy is one of them, aviation, computer things, so many natural sciences. People wey read those courses in nigeria University na 100 percent theory, no practicals until them graduate.
If he calls himself a professor and never travelled out to get proper exposure and hands-on practice in a university oversea in a country that has the capacity to offer that, then he is 100 percent a theory professor.
I bet you that guy hasn't seen atomic reactive agents in his life. Physically. Na for textbook him dey see pictures.
Mehn!!!!!!
You wrote this without reading and understand his profile, knowing his antecedents? Bros is it bad belle or lack of exposure worry you?
joelsky: Well, to the best of my knowledge this is a reasonable recruitment. Northerner or not, this man knows his onions. Ask any ABU physics graduate who majored in Nuclear physics.
You're the first rational post I encountered on this topic
ComeToJesus: Though very qualified for this post, the gap-toothed General promotes lopsidedness and is a subtle apostle of crass inequality and political imbalance.
Christistruth00: Was he IPOB that tried to burn done Lagos and wanted him to be eliminated
where did IPOB burn down Lagos? Lmao... Endsars that you are defending the government on and helping them lie will haunt you down and you will have no one to defending. Continue to lie that it was Igbos behind it.
RedEnergy: No government light in my area on Lagos Mainland now for 5 consecutive days and counting. Normally they take and bring it on intervals but now no light again, as in 24 hours NEPA darkness. I'm getting fed up. Do you have still have government electricity?
Which one is government light again? It is your Disco that supplies light and not government
Romanoff: I am not a feminist. The woman accused him of abusing her.
Or did my post make you feel like I supported the woman or are you just looking for someone to use your daily dose of "feminist" on?
Your post made little sense... so what's the connection of her claims of abuse ... to having an illegitimate child in wedlock and pinning the child on husband ?
joyandfaith: This is not about cheating or JAMB. His cup would full one day. Just wait. He is a wicked jihadist. That was how you guys were hailing Abba kyari.
Ridicule is the first and last argument of a fool.- Charles Simmons
See my signature
I don't understand this senseless and unnecessary ranting. What are his offense(s)?
1. He reorganized a JAMB that could not put more 50m in over 2decades and turned it into billion Naira net income organization. 2. Revamped processes such that monies does not go to individuals, lest we have the issue of spiritual snake swallowing millions 3. He revolutionized JAMB examination such that you take the exam online and get your results in 2 weeks 4. He smoked out miracle centers and exposed various nefarious activities and cheating schemes 5. He made JAMB to extend services to some other parastatals Customs, Police, NSCDC etc. there maximizing the effectiveness of JAMB to deliver value to the nation
I wrote my jamb before your were born. Cheat was rare then. That was how you guys hailed abba kyari and buhari. End of the matter is better than beginning.
That you wrote your JAMB before he was born (even if true) is of no consequences to the discuss, neither does it confer any form of authority nor wisdom on you. Unfortunately, you that claimed you wrote JAMB back then, supports cheating....
Rootprof: Oloyede have is own merit and demerit. Like one man once said to prove you've done something great you don't need to talk or write much. I will write my views in points.
Point 1- Oloyede tried so much in generating and remmitting money to the government. Is good in accountability. But the main question is was jamb created to generate money ? I thought the registration amount should be reducing or the leftover money after exam should be send back to the applicants.
Yes, JAMB is expected to generate money. Do you expect that the parastal will run on loss? How much is the cost of SAT, TOEFL and similar certification bodies in other countries? It costs about 65K to register for SAT, Americans don't get it free. How do you account for the costs of content gathering, consultants, researches, infrastructure, proprietary, data. In the days we are clamoring for reduction in cost of governance, should JAMB not be able to stand alone, make money to cover its costs and provide for growth? Talking about growth, JAMB will begin to attract people from the corporate world to further rejig and prepare for a competitive future, some of these are at great costs....
Meanwhile exam fees was reduced by 1.5k, lately
Point 2- The validity of jamb should be 3-5 years if truly they wise applicants well and want to convince us jamb is not truly another tool in government hand to make money. Have come across many applicants that their scores reduced than their previous scores. Please what is Oloyede doing about this. While it is desirable to have Good JAMB scores for more than a year, I think the onus lies on Universities and not JAMB. JAMB conducts exams, UNI can decide this... Point 3- Except you don't have siblings or anyone around you that you will claim jamb registration procedure is okay. This past jamb registration was worst, applicants sleeping at registration center, spending days, additional money and most importantly risking their lives and property just to register. Even during the era of jamb using form before the introduction of online registration it's not as tideous and difficult as this. Get more centers accredited for the registration.
I don't get you here. My daughter wrote JAMB this year, even though the school coordinated the registration, most of the registration was done online, payment online. I think it's the people who are yet to get used to the online process that converge in registration centers, else its a simple and straight forward process.
Point 4- What's the essence of post-jamb after jamb. Why the multiple exam if not to generate money. What's the government and jamb register doing about these. The problem here is with the Universities and not JAMB. Even Prof Oloyede had condemned Unis still conducting Post-Jamb saying it is illegal. I agree too. What is the essense of Post-Jamb if we have a standard certifying body.
Finally I think the next jamb registration charges should be very low or free since they keep making money yearly and jamb is not a ministry. You're joking, right? And to the government it's time you prove to us western education as not been turn to money making and not impacting knowledge alone. I remember then weac examination was free or almost free and most of our leaders benefits from such. The value of education is declining and very risky for development of the country. WAEC exam fees have never been free, someone carries the costs. In many States, Governors pay WAEC exam fees..
ayoncox: It is unfortunate that we call tyranny good governance. The same man creating stiffening system that fustrates young kids from gaining admission through his fanaticism is called messiah. I laugh in Swahili
Awon eyan Miracle Centers......
Abeg your books and be diligent in study.....or tell your "young kids" to do same. Stiffening systems ko!
pacespot: I won't be the one to teach you everything about the law silly man, even going through the Nigerian Criminal code or Penal code, there are multiple charges that could be filed against Kyari with his little involvement in the crime that we have seen so far. Nigeria has an extradition treaty with USA and there is mentioning of his name in the high net worth crime being investigated by the US court, so why won't he be extradited? I know the Fulani will try to protect their man as they normally do, but I trust FBI to find another way to get him arrested.
I won't be wasting my time teaching a nincompoop like you about the law who are not ready to listen. If you want a legal advice, then you can book for my time.
Bye
This bolded part is understating your law prowess. I want you to quote the sections in the penal code, extradition treaty under which Kyari will be extradited....or else as I suspect, you're called to the Beer Parlor and not the Bar.
