Transcript of Karim Benzema's sextape phonecall has leaked and it's very damning

If the Sky One TV show Dream Team ever decided to make a return then I might know where they could find some inspiration from.

The football world has been engrossed by the story of Karim Benzema allegedly blackmailing his French teammate Mathieu Valbuena over a sextape. The Real Madrid striker was taken into custody by French police last week and L’Équipe have published the transcript of an apparent phone conversation between Benzema and one his friends, Karim Zenati.

Get French Football News has reproduced the transcript in English, which you can check out below.

Benzema: Go ahead, I saw the other guy [Valbuena].

Zenati: And, what do you think?

Benzema: Um, what do I think, the truth?

Zenati: Yes.

Benzema: I think that he does not take us seriously.

Zenati: No.

Benzema: There you have it.

Zenati: Yes, so that means in reality, I think, he will not give anything away, no?

Benzema: Yes, yes, yes, yes, he is not taking us seriously.

Zenati: What did he say to you?

Benzema: What did he say to me, euh, you know at the beginning he believed, he believed (inaudible) you see, that it was a joke… I told him: I’m here to help matters. You need to see this guy. He will come. He will speak to you. But I give you my word that there is not another copy (of the sextape). After that we spoke, and spoke, in the video you see my tattoos (Valbuena asked).

You see everything, in short. I said to him. I am serious, I said to him, honestly, I have seen it, the video, I said to him. He said I know. But what do they want? I said to him, I have no idea what they want, I said to him, it is not me, he said to me yes, he wants money. Well, in my opinion you see, I said if I had a video like that of a guy… Well in any case they want to create a buzz, it would not be the same buzz if it was you…

Zenati: You’re right.

Benzema: Yes.

Zenati: (laughs)

Benzema: But brother, brother, it is true that it is true that it will not make the same buzz as it would for me, but brother you are putting an end to his career brother. It is needless, he is having tomatoes thrown at him. I said to him, it is not a question of buzz, but a question of pride.

Zenati: Um.

Benzema: I spoke to him about family, I said that it has nothing to do with buzz, we don’t give a shit, I said to him then. I said to him that now that if someone releases a photo, a video like that. That for me that does absolutely nothing but your mother, your father they will see your woman or I have no idea who. You see, after that he was thinking, thinking. I said to him that in any case he should do what he wants. There, I am with the French national team until Sunday, if you give me your number, I will give it, I will give it to my friend. He will come to see you in Lyon, you will discuss it, you see with him, he did not want to. Well, its your life, but I warned you eh?

Zenati: It is good brother, you have done really well.

Benzema: There you go, I said to him that. After that I do not know what he will do. He will call his agent, he will say that they have the video. I said to him, listen, there is no intermediary, no lawyer, no friend, no agent, no police, its not what you want.

Zenati: Um.

Benzema: I said to him that if you want the video to be destroyed, come see my friend in Lyon. You see him directly and you speak with him, you send nobody.

Zenati: Well, there you go, that’s good.

Benzema: He said to me where did the video come from? I said to him: I have no idea where it came from.

Zenati: When he goes to sleep, he will know that you have told the truth.

Benzema: Well no, he was completely white.

Zenati: Yes.

Benzema: He said to me, the video, where did you see it? How long ago? After, he was asking me questions, but it was like how… I saw him gulping, he started gulping twice, three times.

Zenati: (laughs)

Benzema: You see, you see a guy when he is panicking, have you seen that?

Zenati: You know that they are the best, when they do there little thing but na, na, na, na and after…

Benzema: Yes, he even said to me: you know who was the first who told me, it is Cissé. I said yes but Cissé had a hard time like that.

Zenati: Um.

Benzema: I said to him, he (Cissé) did what? He said to me: he paid. I said to him: and the video, was it released or not? He said to me no. I said to him: me when I say to you that I have one word, it is that the video will not be released. Now, you do what you want. I came to see you because I saw this video, I was told about it, I cannot laugh with you in the dressing room and not tell you.

He said to me yes but when do they want to release it, if they release it, for the Euros? I said to him, well, I think, it is then when they would probably release it eh. I said to him if it was me who had a video like that, me I would not ask for money, I would release it, I would sell it to journalists. You see, I told him that.

Zenati: Um.

Benzema: He said to me yes, well, thanks a lot and all, give me a day or two and I will tell you (Benzema laughs). He will call me, give me the contact details, please (he laughs).

Zenati: (he laughs) It is for him. Me, us, brother, we are helping him.

Benzema: Me, I am helping you (Benzema to Valbuena)… I said to him look, I don’t give a shit, it is not me. I came to see you. Yes thank you, it is good of you. He said to me: What do they want? I said to him: me I do not know. My aim, my thing ends here, you see, my train ends here. Now my friend (Zenati), he takes the matter up. He is the guy who knows the person, there is only one person who has your video. But I do not know him but my friend, he knows him.

Now if you want to sort this out, give your number, I will give it to him and you can take it up with him.

Zenati: Yes, perfect.

Benzema: I said to him: he is my friend, my mate, my best friend, he is like my brother. It is like as if he had a video of me.

Zenati: Hum.

Benzema: He said to me, yes, but you what would you have done? I said to him: me, I don’t give a shit about buzz, you see, so I would have paid just for my family… I said to him: you, if it is about buzz, if it is just about the buzz and you have warned your family, and they don’t care, well then let it be released, I said to him.

Zenati: Well yes, even I would have said that brother, but there you have it… (he laughs) Yes, yes its us brother, we are here in any case to sort it out. If he does not want it, then leave him, he can deal with these piranhas, he will deal with these piranhas and then he will…

Benzema: They will piss all over him.

Zenati: They will piss all over him brother, I’m fired up eh.

Benzema: The piranhas they will eat him, bro.

Zenati: Yes when you said to me that he was a good friend, I said to you yes after maybe they will ask the friend, they will say to him, I do not know, two football match tickets or I do not know what else they are playing at.

Benzema: (he laughs)

Zenati: There you go, job done, after that he will do what he wants

On 4 November 2015, Benzema was arrested by French police for his alleged part in blackmailing fellow France international player Mathieu Valbuena. During the investigation over the blackmail plot, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls stated, "A great athlete should be exemplary. If he is not, he has no place in the France team. There are so many kids, so many youngsters in our suburbs that relate to great athletes. They wear the blue jersey, the colours of France, which are so important in these moments.

Karim Benzema will be called up for France’s EUROs squad, per multiple reports in France.

The Real Madrid striker hasn’t played for France since he was accused of helping blackmail former teammate Mathieu Valbuena with a sex tape in 2015.

He has denied the allegations.

Source:
https://twitter.com/brfootball/status/1394605873595666433?s=19[/quote]What allegation is he denying? This is when we throw decency to the wind if you ask me, Benzema should have been banned for life from French National team...

For context:
1. Matthieu Valbuena (a co-team member of the French National team and friend to Benzema) bought a new phone. Gave a guy that supplies them new phones to transfer all his data from his old phone and set it up on new phone.
2. During the transfer, Benzema's childhood friend got access to Valbueba's personal files including one allegedly a sex video.
3. They started to blackmail Valbuena
4. Benzema (ridiculously) brought the matter to Valbuena, and encouraged him to talk to the blackmailers. In fact his final comment to Valbuena was "should I give you his number?"
5. More ridiculous, Benzema upon interrogation said he didn't deem it that he was harming Valbuena, and that he only brought the matter to his attention
6. Most ridiculous, the French FA did initially deem the matter non-football related, until it was going to destroy the team before excusing both.

Same French has called up Benzeme. Where is the decency!!!

You are obviously confused because you are saying two different things at the same time.

If you negotiate, you will save all the lives. The implication is that you will finance the terrorists' activities. They will get more weapons and become deadlier. In fact, you will send a message that your government encourages terrorism and banditry, thus making more people to jump on the bandwagon.

On the other hand, if you attack, there will be collateral damage. In short, you can even lose all the students. The situation is dicey, but el-Rufai raised an important point. If I were in his shoes, I would damn the consequences and attack Even if my kid was involved because paying those idiots means encouraging more people to go into banditry for the money.

Crime must have a dire price and that's why countries tell you that they don't negotiate with terrorists. It takes a brave mind to be a good leader. I can never negotiate with rascals...never! Doing so has a long-term implication that will hurt the society for a long time. Most times, we do the things of today to avert the negative impact it would have tomorrow.

But then, since they paid the ransom to free the students, they should have tracked the bandits and finished them up. After all, el-Rufai claims the military already has details of their location.
He actually did attack....but the kidnappers released the students as the military were closing in on them. El Rufai is also saying that for subsequent ones, he will attack without question.

If they were proactive the security situation would have been addressed before it got to this....
So US is not proactive when almost every week, someone enters a large gathering of people and murder them with guns. You can't eliminate bad people and that's why he is giving you the bigger picture: unless you kill these guys, they will never stop. Even US does not negotiate with terrorists and that's why they give travel advisory to their citizens. In Katsina, they were negotiating with the terrorists and in no time, they took over Katsina! He is taking a cue from Katsina and chose to fight. If you have other suggestions to help the situation, share it instead of running their efforts down. Remember that some of our patriotic security personnel die in these operations too and they have families too. Your advice can help too.

Omo, Leadership is not easy especially when you are dealing with terrorists. Some leaders will prefer to negotiate because they don't want to lose innocent lives but if you decide to attack, be ready to pay a price. So it's kind of contradictory for you to agree with the no negotiations part and not agree with the part of losing some of the abductees.

I'm not sure if the problem is negotiating, the problem is that we don't have a solid security structure in place to prevent or repel the kidnappers in the future.

The only thing we can all agree on is that the government at all levels have failed us in terms of providing adequate security.
Another reality we probably will have to live with for some time is that the time for blame game was long gone. We have these menace on our hands already. Govt have failed us, yes but in the situation we've found ourselves, these cases are not going away anytime soon. We have to collectively work our way out of the situation and save one another.

Check some tots;
1. Bandits and Kidnappers have been seen to be working with some village and community heads (some recently arrested). Local governments who should be the nearest channels of intel are near non-existent.
2. Policing structure across localities, communities, and states needs to be well oiled. This is not about who controls what, this is about how intelligence can be fed through defined channels
3. We need to fund security. Like we fund vigilante groups. Like we fund Lagos State Security Trust fund. We need CCTVS, Satellite phones, Walkie-Talkie, Armored Vehicles, Drones, Boats, Bikes, and other security gadgets to be made available to Community Police.
4. We need to drop Politicising security. Amotekun, ESN etc. have been wrongly set-up. Amotekunfor example was a recommendation f the Developmental Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) committee. If you read the document (I will look for it in my archives), their recommendation for regional and community policing was top-notch, but most of these SW governors took the recommendations and chose to do little of it. Graduates should be recruited into regional and community police, sent to police and detective academies, equiped with requisite hardware and Technology, given decent packages and welfare and made to live among the people. That I believe is what Security votes + private sector contributions be channeled towards.

This government is yet to tell us the truth about the dramatic escalation of terrorist activities in the country.

Weapons were given to a certain people and pomises were made before election. Unfortunately, the promise couldn't be fulfilled after election (RUGA) and these people with weapons decide to use those weapons to make money for themselves by kidnapping innocent Nigerians.

Government finally realizes they can also make money from paying ransom and that's how kidnapping became the order of the day in Nigeria.

The consequences of "no negotiations" (a position I agree with atm) with terrorists, bandits and kidnappers is that lives will be lost. For any government to take that position they must be on alert, proactive and have high level of intelligence. They also must have dark channels and methods through which they can catch and kill terrorists, kidnappers and bandits before they strike.

It's clear that you're just plain ignorant and was probably dropped on the head as a child. First you attacked me by saying it is unintelligent to expect the Federal government to declare state of emergency due to kidnappings, you now maintain the viewpoint that the entire premise is against the opening topic? Yet I'm the one with the subpar argument? You could have done yourself a favor by not quoting me but your constant need for validation meant you couldn't resist, I'm not going to sit here and argue against your strawman theories because you obviously know nothing about the Constitution. Yes kidnappings are prosecuted by the states but does that negate the power of the Federal government to intervene? What does the law say about matters of national security/terrorism? If the danger of one state leads to the danger of others, does the Federal government just sit back and drink kunu until the entire region is affected? I know topics like this one is far beyond your thinking capabilities but I don't think I can make it much simpler for you, even my 10 year old nephew can deduce what I'm getting at, so please refrain from quoting me again unless you want to be unfortunate in life but if you refuse then continue arguing with your keyboard because I won't dignify you with another response.....PEACE!
I keep seeing that you either have comprehension issues or you want to (albeit dumbly) introduce context that are outside the purview of discussion or want to lie outrightly. where on earth did I remotely allude to what you "manufactured" in the underlined. You're plain dumb. That is why I said you're making more emotional cries rather than rational and logical arguement. Check this - Lai Muhammed said "prosecuting cases of banditry and kidnapping is the responsibilities of state governments and not federal government"; the simple contention is, is Lai Muhammed right or wrong according to the law? That is how you fail simple comprehension.

Let me humour myself with another dumb submission of yours. So after you discovered the futility of your lame argument against the power of States to prosecute cases Kidnapping and Banditry. Let me address you mundane pseudo logic quoted here

Yes kidnappings are prosecuted by the states but does that negate the power of the Federal government to intervene? What does the law say about matters of national security/terrorism? If the danger of one state leads to the danger of others
You see, that is why it would have been advisable to table your ignorance by asking questions so that you can be educated than this crude arrogance that makes you sound dumber.
1. How do you want the Federal Government to intervene in a case not within there jurisdiction? What sort of government system is that? Oh! so Malami should go to state courts and excuse states AGs from cases or order judges to back off? Intervene how?
2. What does the law say about national security? I was expect you to quote the aspects of the law you refer to beyond this your juvenile statement but pray tell, I think you do not even know that according to law Terrorism is different from Kidnapping and Banditry?

The other issue with your comprehension deficit I quote below
does the Federal government just sit back and drink kunu until the entire region is affected?
Dumbo! we are discussing "prosecution". You don't even know what PROSECUTION means. It is charging kidnappers and bandits to court, following through till verdict. Prosecution is not carrying guns to war against bandits. Chai. What class are you?

Meanwhile pls educate us by your "basic knowledge of law" how Lai is wrong?

Abi I no read well ni...
Nairaland seems to be regressing in average intelligence unfortunately

A simple Google search would have shown these unintelligent arguers that many states had passed their own law on Kidnapping. For example in 2009, Abia and Enugu State House of Assembly passed a law making Kidnapping with use of a gun a capital offence, while Rivers state makes kidnapping of any sort Life imprisonment. In order words Evans for example should thank his stars that he's not being prosecuted in Abia or Enugu where upon being declared guilty, he would be hanged.

linearity:
The Nigerian National Assembly passed the Terrorism Prevention Act of 2011, which was signed into law on June 3, 2011, by President Goodluck Jonathan.

And during Jonathan Administration, a few people were charged federally using the Act.

Nigeria also rectifies the UN convention on terrorism, which proscribe hostage aka kidnapping among other terrorist Acts.

The difference here is that Terrorism is not the same as Kidnapping & Banditry

Go and read your Constitution very well before believing one delusional goat. Every Nigerian has the right to a peaceful environment, the right to liberty, this much is guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution. What is the result of kidnapping? What is the result of banditry? Are humans harmed or killed? Does it threaten people's liberty? If the answer is yes then the Nigerian Constitution gives the Federal government the power to overule the states or declare a state of emergency. This is the 21st century, let nobody bobo you grin grin grin
Let me make some assumptions from your write-up here

1. You've hardly read the "constitution" in which you conjure this argument.
2. It will be unfortunate if you've gone beyond O'level and make watery argument like this. Pray tell, why would a Federal Government take declare a state of Emergency and take over a case of Kidnappers and Bandits already caught? Is it that you struggle with the context of this discourse, hence your exaggerated pseudo intelligence?

The issues are simple. By current laws Kidnapping & Banditry are prosecuted by states. Laws are written and amended from time to time They are not based on emotional feelings of near-non-existent people
