Ritchiee:What empire exactly did Yorubas build? Mud house empires built by defeating fellow Yoruba speaking tribes? Yes, it was Banjo who killed the Biafran march to Ore, he compromised the march after he had round table discussions with his Yoruba people, stationed the Biafran troops at Bini for days, taking away the surprise element the Biafrans had in their favour, giving the Nigerian Army enough time to re strategize. Handling such crucial part of the war to a Yoruba man to lead, was Ojukwu's greatest military blunder. And Biafra paid dearly for it. |
mekuzi200:Haha! You have time for these Amala people ![]() Like they boast of how progressive their backward western region was, when all available stat points to the fact that they were light years behind the Eastern region. Like they deceived themselves with lies of leading the Nigerian education system, until WAEC and JAMB stats started trickling in and we all saw they were at the same level with their Northern brothers. ![]() |
damola14:There is no forging ahead between Ndiigbo and Yorubas/ Northerners. We are simply not of the same stock. This is the whole point. |
dadaha:Those were not supplied by France. They were Biafran made. And France also did supply weapons to Nigeria. Biafran lost because they had to fight two world powers in Britain and USSR, using the zombie Nigeria army as proxies. It's as simple as that. |
dadaha:France was forced by Britain to stop whatever meagre support she was rendering to Biafra, very early during the war campaign. Biafra was left to fend for herself, and hence had to start thinking outside the box to provide her own weapons. |
damocool:What are you on about? Igbo migrant communities exist in Ghana, Gabon, Cameroon, US, Sierra Leone, UK, India, etc. Does it now translate that Ndiigbo want to share a nation with those countries? The way Yorubas and Hausas reason gives me chills. |
Ritchiee:Paul Anber's essay "Modernization and Political Disintegration: Nigeria and the Ibos" published in the journal of Modern African Studies vol. 5, No 2 (Sep, 1967) 163-179. See pp 171-172 for excerpt: " '' A system of Universal primary education was introduced in Eastern Nigeria in 1953, though the mission schools had already prospered in the Region long before then. Despite the fact that there was a requirement for limited contributory fees, education continued to be very much in demand. Even at the time when universal primary education was first introduced, the percentage of the population over seven years of age who were literate was higher in the East than in any other Region: East, 10.6 per cent; West 9.5 percent; North, 0.9 percent. Since 1959, the East has had more teachers and pupils than any other area of the country, with the heaviest emphasis on primary education. Figures for elementary and secondary education indicate that the approximate ratio of teachers to population in 1963 was 1 to every 1,500 in the East, 1 to every 2,500 in th West, and 1 for every 10,000 in the north. Other statistical data reveal how rapidly the standard of living rose among Ibos. The East had the most extensive hospital facilities in the country by 1965, the largest regional production of electricity in the country by 1954, and the greatest number of vehicle registrations by 1963. The economic orientation of the Ibos was also reflected through membership of credit associations:in 1963 the East had 68,220 individual members, the west 5,776, and the north a mere 2,407 ." ''... His source was the Annual Abstract of Statistics ( Federal Office of Statistics, Lagos, 1965) There you go, Another Yoruba lies up in smokes. ![]() |
"I remember working with a house officer who couldn't even read an X-ray report and thus dunce majors in Orthopedics for that matter. I've sat down to watch resident medical doctors diagnose subluxation for dislocation even with an evident X-ray report saying otherwise". This was your ignorant post I was replying. No house officers majors in any branch of medicine or Surgery, and no Resident doctor will mis diagnose subluxation for dislocation, it's obvious you are as usual making up these stories up as you go. Yes, residency programme in Nigeria is thorough and rigorous, but you will never get to know about that, since you are not a medical doctor. |
ImperialYoruba:Now I understand the full meaning of this saying: " Many are mad, but few are roaming". |
Reyginus:Go and sit down and stop talking trash. No house officer specializes in any branch of Surgery, they just do postings in Surgery, and that's all, you don't do specialization at the housemanship level. If you want to specialize, then you must do residency programme, in which case you must write primaries exam on your chosen area and pass after or during housemanship to be eligible for Residency programme. Any orthopedic surgeon specialist doctor ie from senior registrar post upwards, can inteprete all bone and joint X-rays correctly. The Residency programme in Nigeria is very thorough and demanding, you can't pass them without those basic Knowledge. Stop misinforming the public, to make yourself feel good. |
nonaira:She displays a classical efulefu trait. Selling out your own people to curry favour from the enemies of your people is the worst form of stupidity anyone can do, cause ultimately, the same cup used to measure your people, will be used to measure for you by the enemies you embraced. And furthermore, non of such enemies will ever trust you or accord you any respect in their innermost being, the logic is simple, if you can sell your own people so cheap, they themselves can be sold cheaper by you. |
DirtyGold:Dangote was never a better business man than Ibeto. He is only where he is today because he is a northerner and his people have had an absolute grip on Nigerian power since 1970. Dangote is a product of Northern influence in Nigeria, his people created the monopoly and policies on which he thrives. He owes his fortune today to the Northern influence in Nigeria. |
You can never be greater than your own people, your success will ultimately be measured using your own people as the S.I unit. Ndiigbo must do well to disassociate ourselves from Ezekwesili and her current dance of shame. She remains an example for future reference. |
mrvitalis:Why should Ndiigbo care about unpatriotic Igbos that have refused to relocate the bulk of their investment from SW and North to Igboland to help us grow our local economy and provide employment opportunities to our many unemployed youths? Don't bring your investments back home, stay there and keep thinking the rest of us will remain in bondage, so that you get to keep your useless investments in SW and North, that does not benefit us. Selfish beings. |
Nice. |
Very great work@op except for the Ogori Magongo error and fusing Igala and Igbo history. I think the only convergence, which of course is very important is the Umuleri Aguleri clan of the IGBO WHICH MAY HAVE HAD THEIR ROOTS IN IGALA. Speak about your Yoruba group and leave Ndiigbo alone. The relationship between Ndiigbo ans Igala, goes beyond Agulueri and Umuleri clans. It stretches from Anioma clans to Ogbaru clans, to Nsukka clans and even run as deep as interior Igboland. I hate it when peeps mischievously dabble into things they know little about. |
No Igbo person born and raised in Igboland uses "Igbedu". The correct thing is Egwu or party. No one uses Lobatan here. Intact it would appear Yorubas think Nigeria starts and end in SW. A typical Igbo man will say: You kwanu, and not " You nko". The only Yoruba word used in Igbo townships is "Oga". |
kenonze:A Biafran group that plans to burn Biafra flag? Come on, even zombies know better. They are just having fun with themselves. TRIPOB is a perfect definition of Joke. |
omenka:It's a Shame that your brothers in Benue are not smiling as you are, don't you think so? I wouldn't be surprised if you are a Yoruba impostor posing as a Benue person. |
omenka:Well, in real life, this is what the Northerners are relishing: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/herdsmen-attack-another-benue-village-kill-12/ You should be ashamed of yourself. |
hundredhunndred:Firstly, why are you addressing your ethnic group as "they", are you ashamed of your Yoruba heritage? Secondly, the last time I checked Ndiigbo and her Eastern neighbors formed an independent republic away from Yorubas and the North. It was Awo and his Northern masters that fought to keep us in one Nigeria. Secondly, all over nairaland and everyother social media, Yorubas constitute the bulk of those who call all pro secession Igbo groups terrorists and demand their massacre by the Nigerian Army, they constitute the most vocal in declaring Nigerian unity sacrosanct on and offline, they constituted the most vocal of all Nigerian groups who repeatedly call for Kanu Nnamdi's murder. Finally, you circumvented my initial question and as usual diverted into unrelated issue to escape providing an answer, but I will ask again: Why is the supposedly resource rich Yorubaland, desperate to cling unto one Nigeria, where she would have to share her supposedly rich resources with resource deficient Igboland and possibly North? |
Afam4eva:I understand the complexities surrounding Ikwerre Igbo denial perfectly well. I can tolerate an Ikwerre in Igbo denial, but I will not accept or entertain the idea of Yorubas and Edos telling me who is Igbo and who isn't. The argument of Ikwerre being Igbo or not, is open only to Ikwerre and Igbos, and not to any non Igbo or non Ikwerre person. |
Choi! What a revelation. It was always obvious that hopeathand was not Ikwerre, even without the bursting. The kind of animosity he harbours for Ndiigbo is not found amongst Ikwerres, it's found only amongst the Yorubas and is not hard to pick up. Hopefully this time around, he deactivates that his account for good, and learn to be proud of his Yoruba heritage. |
Igbos always repping since time "Imo River". See Amunike, Nwafor played with the great Guardiola and Ronaldo Lima. Igbo Amaka. ![]() |
Well, Malaysia is not a zoo. |
KevinDein:If it's by land space, Belgium wouldn't have colonized Congo DR that is about 20 plus Times Belgium landmass. It's not about the size of your land, it's about the ability to use your brain. Igbo landmass is more than enough for Ndiigbo. Come to Igboland and see many empty land spaces when you travel interstate express roads. |
" Going westward, and crossing over the Niger from Abo on the right bank up to and beyond Asaba, we find the Ibo in occupation of a narrow strip of country that is bordered on the west by the Igabo and Sobo country, and on the north by the Kukuruku ; and although it is difficult to speak with any certainty..." The Igabo and Sobo Being referred to in this colonial document were the Isokos and Urhobos of today, they border the western Igbos( Anioma) of today to the west. https://archive.org/stream/lowernigeritstri00leonrich/lowernigeritstri00leonrich_djvu.txt |
Millerz:The colonials clearly knew the difference between Isoko and Urhobo and never at any point painted them as one or parts of a whole. The Isoko was called Igabo and the Urhobo Sobo by the colonials. Saying that the Igbo/ Ikwerre situation which is a result of the civil war is same as that of Isoko/Urhobo that existed since colonial Times, is dishonesty or Ignorance at best. I understand that Isoko and Urhobo are identical and should be one. But it must be pointed out that Isoko wish and desire to be seen different from the Urhobos was strong in colonial era, strong enough to warrant the colonials classifying them differently from the Urhobos and giving them a separate identity. The Ikwerres on the other hand never had any problem with the Igbo tag in colonial era and so the Colonials classified them as Igbos. Their desire to exist outside the Igbo tag is a new one, borne out of the consequences of the Igbo loss of the civil war. |
Enahi:So what joins Anioma with Edos? Does Anioma or Ikwerre speak same dialect, dress alike or eat similar food as Edos? Why exactly are you on this thread?Taa! Edo and Yorubas are one. Joined together by Oduduwa who sent his son Eweka to bring Ife superior civilization to the Binis, who as of then were being ruled by the primitive Ogisos. You should be greatful to the Odua, face towards them and stop poking nose into Igbo issues. |
Schematics:Brother watch it. You are falling into his game plan. He is not Ikwerre, you can't allow him to make you to start speaking ill of Ikwerres. |
HopeAtHand:Of course, I concur! Ka chi mezie okwu. ![]() |
