ziga: And yet again, you have been able to prove the Power of suggestion by suggesting that the caption of the post does not represent the actual situation in the picture. Because your suggestion obviously gathered some believers. . . Look at the picture. Some girls who are actually kneeling down are kneeling on a mat?. Rest of the girls are sitting down. A few of the guys are standing. Almost all the guys not standing are just squatting down. This does not seem like punishment to me. |

playmode: So the USA is GOD now that no one can refuse a gift from them. This is the servant boy mentality i hate about Nigerians. Why do we always idolize everything western. They tell to sit ,we sit ,they tell us to cough ,we cough.Yikes no wonder Africa is so backward.
When will we learn to grow balls like the Arab world who tells the west to stuff it? Have you ever asked your self why they is no black nation that is progressive in the world? Look at Liberia , Sierra leone e.t.c The westerners come cause havoc ,supply weapons and the dumb darkies will kill each other to kingdom come. The only thing black countries are good at is begging for handouts. We do not try to build our nation ourselves,we always want one western country to helps us financially or otherwise.
It is the same mentality that made IBB borrow money from IMF and sink our nation in to pit of excreta it is now.
Ramifications my yansh ,so if the USA dashes us nuclear bombs ,we should also accept it with open arms? It is you who should think before you post. Can't believe I'm reading such drivel in a non-tribal thread. That last paragraph is just out of this world. Good luck to whoever is attempting to educate you. They're going to need it. |

playmode: And which reality will that be? Can Nigeria fight a war with that relic? NO.Which country's Navy can that ship take on? So what is the point of the gift?
Can the USA dare dash South Africa,Egypt,Tunisia,Morocco or Algeria such an insulting gift? No .You know why? Because they respect those countries and its leaders.I can not say that much about dundee GEJ government. The USA has quite a large arsenal of ships even larger than the Uk and France combined, why did they not give us a 1995 ship? You should be ashamed that your countries navy is accepting such a gift.It shows that the USA does not see our navy as a capable Navy.We are more like pets to the USA not equals and that is a very disturbing thought.
Now let me show what the best navy on the African continent looks like before you start talking out of your armpit.Nigeria is far far richer than SA ,so how come we don't have a functioning modern Navy? And how come we have to settle for scraps with all the funds we generate from the Oil industry? I do not see any reason why SA's Navy should be so advanced than ours,do you? Wow! Where do I start? How do I even start? You have almost zero knowledge on African and world naval capabilities. Zero knowledge on military expenditures. Zero knowledge on Nigerian naval requirements. Zero knowledge on how the vessel is going to be deployed. And it appears zero knowledge on economics. |

darqly: I think we have failed to observe the picture very well. The boys are crouching while the girls are kneeling down. Infact one girl is sitting down while some boys are also standing. I noticed that too. However, as you can see nobody cares about the actual picture. I willing to bet there a quite a number on this thread who didn't even look at the picture. This thread is a good study and validates the Power of Suggestion. You can be sure that a different thread title would have brought about a different general reaction. |

abeggnow: the nigerian military will need to spend money on more morden equipment.as for the airforce we need to focus on 4th generation type mulirole fighters, this business of f-7 planes was a waste except they are to be used for agresor training.the days of interceptors are long gone. we planes like f-16 or mig-29smk and d likes for our air defence and strike capability needs then we also need dedicated ground attack birds like su-25.we also need to focus on logistics issues as it is nigerias air lift capabilities is a joke.in my own opinion we need to focus most on our air lift and survelance capabilities.as for the navy nigeria is a mojor oil exporter and most of our economy is reliant on the sea.we need to be able to defend our sea lane and escort our marchant ships wen the time comes.a single frigate and 4 corvets is laugherable.we can buy some second hand frigates and atlist a destroyer as the nations flag ships.another thing we need to do is intregrate this platforms force coherdsion. All this will cost money that does not exist at the moment. Unless you are suggesting we divert more funds from other sectors to the military cause those politicians enjoying the 'national cake' are not going to reduce their intake for the sake of the military. |

Why do you folks continue to argue with clowns on nairaland. For six pages, the same arguments and counter arguments.
The LFTZ is so much more than the airport. It has a sea port as well as a refinery, Power Project etc. As if the money being spent is enough to fix all the roads, schools, water works, and bicycles in Lagos for the same time frame. Leave the folks on here to be talking about "people oriented infrastructure", "projects that benefit the common man", "projects that will put food in the mouth of the market woman". I guess the people who will be working, living, and feeding in the LFTZ will be imported from Benin Republic. Just like Eko Atlantic city will be populated by Ghanians. |

Al-Qaeda has confirmed the death of its leader Osama Bin Laden, according to a statement attributed to the group and posted on jihadist internet forums.
The statement said his blood would not be "wasted" and that al-Qaeda would continue attacking the US and allies.
Bin Laden's death would be a "curse" for the US and urged an uprising in Pakistan, the statement added.
