Yar'Adua himself didn't stand a chance, until Obasanjo and the PDP decided to back
That's exactly what I ment. he didn't have the backing of the party or Obasanjo. therefore he could never have been "voted" flag bearer. And he probably knew it too. Hence he's withdrawal.

Small deviation, weren't the census results supposed to be released this year as well?
Politics › Re: Press Release: Gov. Donald Duke Withdraws From The Presidential Race by Mariory(m): 1:49am On Dec 17, 2006
With Yaradua taking 80%+ of the "votes" at the primary, I think we can see Duke didn't really stand a chance this time round. And he (Duke) probably knew it.

The PDP as a political party has no strong political ideology or philosophy.
There is virtually nothing of note that it stands for.
The OBJ administration in 8 years has created some reform programmes which the PDP has now claimed ownership of.
Democracy is about issues and not persons really,
Not until we get this right, we will not have democracy. The PDP running the executive, the legislative in 7 years plus have not been able to show significant improvement in the lives of Nigerians. We need to reject them now.
I agree, I do not like the way the PDP functions. But what's the alternative. Is there a better party or are they all similar? What type of governance do they stand for? What candidates are they promoting? How do they intend to continue improving the country?

Things would be better if these opposition parties can get off their asses.

I guess the quote above goes to show the true position of these Arabs. If the only reason why they are in politics is to kill the Jews, one will not be too far off to assume their aim of claiming sole right to a land that isn't theirs historically, is for the same purpose. These guys do not believe in peace for Isreal and that is why Ahmedinajad couldn't hold his evil thoughts in. Isreal has my full support to do whatever they have to do to stay alive.

@David Adenuga & Mariory,

I guess I have given you people a reason to post more than one or two lines on a thread here.
Take your foot out of your mouth. I have no idea what gave you the impression your misinformation is any where as important as you think it is. I no longer have time to keep proving wrong the 100+ lines of nonsense you post on this subject and seem to think constitues intelligent posts.

How do you figure that. Today's newspapers say Obasanjo is leaning more towards Duke than Odili. However, they all seem to believe Yaradua is the person supported by Obj for president. Don't forget though, these are still speculations.

So the rocket fire into Isreal continues despite a truce which the militants seem to think only applies to Isreal. Info on last paragraph. We are seeing it now continuing to happen. When the Isrealis wake up and retaliate, I want these reminders to be here.

Earlier Thursday, Palestinian militants fired a rocket into Israel from Gaza despite a truce, the Israeli military said. The rocket caused no casualties and no one took responsibility.

3. The so-called "alliance" between sunnis correction - this should be Shites (hezbollah) and christians in Lebanon is nothing more than a marriage of convenience. Hezbollah is attempting to use the christian "alliance" to gain popular support to remove the present pro-western government in order to install a puppet for Syria and Iran!
To further clarify, the christains in support of the hezbolla demonstration (with the support of Syria and Iran) are not a majority of Lebanese christains. The government enjoys the support of Christians, Druze, and Sunnis in Lebanon. Along with the US and Europe.
Try as hezbolla have done to try to paint the predominately Shite demonstartion as a coliation of all Lebanese, they fail as badly as the US has done in trying to paint the forces invovled in the invasion of Iraq as a coliation.

adconline:
The Party was run by an executive committee whose original members considered Hitler to be overbearing and even dictatorial. To weaken Hitler's position they formed an alliance with a group of socialists from Augsburg. Hitler rushed back to Munich and countered them by tendering his resignation from the Party on July 11, 1921. When they realized the loss of Hitler would effectively mean the end of the Party, he seized the moment and announced he would return on the condition that he was made chairman and given dictatorial powers. Infuriated committee members (including founder Anton Drexler) held out at first. Meanwhile an anonymous pamphlet appeared entitled Adolf Hitler: Is he a traitor?, attacking Hitler's lust for power and criticizing the violence-prone men around him. Hitler responded to its publication in a Munich newspaper by suing for libel and later won a small settlement.

The executive committee of the DAP eventually backed down and Hitler's demands were put to a vote of party members. Hitler received 543 votes for and only one against. At the next gathering on July 29, 1921, Adolf Hitler was introduced as Führer of the National Socialist Party, marking the first time this title was publicly used. Hitler changed the name of the party to the National Socialist German Workers Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei or NSDAP).

I'm glad you posted a link cause that shows you at least took the time to do some research. A welcome change.  Now I'm going to assume you know the difference between being elected as chancellor of Germany and being selected/elected (whatever you want to call it) by your party to represent them at the elections. I'm also going to assume you are aware that being selected by your party to run in elections does not automatically give you the right to run a demorcratic country.

Now even if Hitler where demorcratically elected into government by the people of Germany which he was not, I fail to see what point you're trying to put across.

@All ,
Using every standard definition of 'objectivity' known; going by the listed quotations above, is it appropriate to think the author is being "objective" and not influenced by his/her own preconceived notion or "faith"? No!. Simply look at the few highlighted portions in the quotations above and you can see obvious 'oxymorons' like "democratically overthrow"; as well as 'prejudicial statements' like "pretending to be Christians", "non-islamic peoples" etc
Bravo Havila. Brilliant point and cleary put. It's not the first time such people have tried in vain to appear "Neutral". As you have demonstrated, people can easily see through the cherade.

Typical of Nigerian media.

As the screening of PDP presidential aspirants continues, there are indications that the presidency is scheming to pair the duo of Governor Umar Yar’Adua of Katsina State, who has been tipped as an anointed successor, and former Special Assistant to the President, Mr. Andy Uba

Indications? What indications? That Andy Uba emerged as the PDP governorship candidate in Anambra State?

Osama Bin laden and his fourty "mytrs" carried out 9/11 attacks not the Saudi's. Afghanistan was attacked because the Taliban (who had imposed themselves on the Afghans) were housing him and his merry band.

Afghanistan is now in control of the Afghans. The Taliban are attempting to recapture the country again. There is nothing fishy about this.

I must admit even with me I do not agree with Sharia Law in Nigeria.
How can we as a nation have two different judicial systems for one people.
This is unconstitional and it further adds to the divides that we put between each other.
The Rule of Law should apply to everyone! regardless of religion, creed, class etc,
Sharia Law is a law at State level. State laws are allowed by the constitution. The problem with Sharia in Nigeria is that it clashes with parts of the constitution in relation to human rights and can therefore be said to be unconstitutional.

The problem with Sharia as a whole is too large to go into.

I don't actually knows what is wrong with our country, maybe its the president that needs to see a shrink or even us(Nigerians) that have time to listen and read informations like this.
He wants to study theology now that he knows that "the animal called Man" has truly shown the world that the Man is 100% an animal even if he changes his title. sad.Just imagine what that will do to us(Nigerians), and the reviewer too who said he is the first to enroll has a serving president, the other presidents were busy moving their country forward and have no time wasting the time of those who elected them to power with some "Venezuelans comedy". May God have mercy on us and visit our country again like he did when he took out Abacha. Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!

Business › Re: Nigeria Scams ‘cost Uk Billions’ by Mariory(m): 6:39pm On Dec 11, 2006
Only a small percent of the population in the UK are being scammed. That does not change the fact that millions of Westerners see these scams know they are scams and form and image of Nigeria because as they keep deleting these emails, the scammers keep sending them. Even if zero people in the UK fell victim to the scammers, they would still continue to receive the scam emails. Hence, the image of Nigeria and Nigerians will continue to go downhill.

We are basically allowing the deeds of a few idiots to cripple the options of the majority of Nigerians. Somethings not right there.
