At the end when the Soin of Man is revealed (in other words he would be incognito in the world and would later be made known), the angels of God will elliminate the evil ones in the world and the righteous would live in the new world. There is nothing like rapture in the scripture. caught up in the air is a spiritual expression of being in one spiritual accord with God. If you live right and believe, you are aready caught up with Him in the air. By the way where is the air? Does it ,ean only the sky? The air means the world! There is air everywhere above the deep. Those not caught up are physically and spiritually condemmned to death and the angels will surely execute them. Shallow understanding and shallow teachings of the Bible has filled Christianity and it is not funny any more! |
L&G, You start building a house, after the foundation, some hoodlums hijack the building and take it over. You leave in anger and later you send your labourers, but the area boys kill them, you send your chief enginer and he is similarly killed. What will be your next line of action? a) Leave the building an buy another site for you to start the construction b) Come in and destroy the hoodlums and take back your building project If you intelligently answer this question then you have the answer to the authenticity of rapture. Shallom! |
Nice to see that some few christians are seeing the rubbish doctrine of rapture for what it is! Anybody that believes inrapture will need to pray for himself or herself, because it aint gonna happen. Believe in that doctrine only confirms that the person does not have the Holy spirit,no matter their pretensions. The Holy Spirit will not teach a lie! |
javascript:void(0); Warning - while you were reading a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post. At least this thread is getting hits! But am surprised at the way we analyse soccer in Nairaland. We saw two contrasting philosophies of football and one won because of having the ball all the time and forcing a mistake in the end. The Germans were always chasing the game and had to tire in the end. For the Germans, it was not their style that failed them but they faied to adapt their style to play Spain who are masters in possession football and who attack once they loose possession. They should have denied Spain space to play their game instead they let SPAIN PLAY AND PAID THE FULL PRICE. I think their Coach failed to study first half of Chile v Spain due to over confidence. When you bang in 4 goals against England, Argie and Australia, you can of course get complacent! |
But we cannot call largerback a good foreign coach. he is average at best and we saw his best in the WC. Imagine a foreign coach for bazil benching Kaka etc! The country would shout blue murder! Where was our sense of outrage in this man's selections? |
Analysis of our Performance in South Africa (1) In a way the typical Nigerian football purist will be glad that we got the untidy matter of the Super Eagles done and dusted with their early exit. They can now relax in their couch and enjoy football from across the world, without the high blood pressure from supporting the national team. But they would still be bugged by the question – what went wrong? And the follow up; what could Nigeria have done better? I penned this as a way to bring out the debate in the open. I may be wrong in my assertions, but I believe that by getting football people to focus on what went wrong and what we could have done better, somewhere in the response pages will lie the answer to our present football state. The debate is for the football purist, not politicians or blabbers that have nothing to contribute to the knowledge of the beautiful game. What went wrong and what is the way forward starting with our match V Argentina is analyzed below. Nigeria V Argentina I must say that this match confirmed to me the extent of fear which the South American have for Nigerian football. With only a one goal margin, the Argentines celebrated the victory like they had won the tournament. This fear was in part due to our performances in the Olympics in the USA (Bonfere Joe), the under-aged competitions we have won (fielding over-aged players?) and the last Olympics in China (Sia Sia). So, kudos to the players and the officials that led us in those events. History is kind to the victorious but to the losers, it is always never kind enough! We engaged a tensed Argentine side that played a 4-2-1-1-2 or 4-3-3 formation, with a Gutirez a forward converted to a RB. Samuel of Inter kept his place as one of the centre halves for the Argentines (Argies for short). Up front Messi, Higuan and Tevez were deployed with Di Maria combing from the left flank. Mascherano was the DM who allowed Veron to have a creative role. Nigeria started with a surprise line up. Well, surprise to those of us that know Keita, but no surprise to those who had watched Largaback’s preparations. Keita was chosen to play a curious defensive RM role, checking Di Maria and helping the midfield without any attacking threat. I had thought before now that the best form of defense is attack. Ogbuke and Nsofor were surprisingly chosen ahead of known stars like Osaze, Uche and Martins. Their roles were to support the lone striker –Yakubu and to foray surprise shots to the Argies. No Thanks to the total control of the mid by Veron and Mascherano, they were very ineffective. In the mid we had young Haruna to hold the ball and create and Etuhu as the DM enforcer. Our formation was a modified 4-5-1, which can be converted to 4-3-3 when attacking. During the match, we allowed the Argies to hold on to the ball the way they wanted even in our own half and defended in zones – perhaps instructions from the coach? What exactly was the strategy for Messi et al? Zonal Marking? Keep the zones and hopefully get the ball? It did not work, but it allowed Messi to mess around with our defense. Our mid of Haruna and Etuhu were not in the game. Firstly Haruna carried out only defensive duties not creative but was always out-muscled from the ball by the Argies and Etuhu was really a disappointment keeping the ball (We missed Mikel more than we realize). Keita did a job of protecting the right side and keeping Di Maria quiet but our saving grace was the goalkeeper Enyeama, because our midfield and defense were raped (breached) several times. We know the first goal was a foul, since our player was wrestled down to allow a free header for the free header from the unmarked aging Argie Left back Gabriel Heinze. But many more goals would have been scored against us. Our best performance was in the 2nd half when Osaze and Martins were introduced and unfortunately we fluffed opportunities. Largarback made several mistakes and should be accountable. 1) Wrong Selection of players – Perhaps he does not know the boys well enough but what was his Nigerian assistant doing? 2) Poor tactics – Due to competence and also not knowing the boys well enough 3) Why play Keita as RM? Why not play him in a role that is suitable to him? Why leave our mid open with a very good Argie side? 4) The coach chose to prepare his team in a low altitude environment, when they were to play in a high altitude environment. It takes 2 weeks for the body to fully acclimatize to these types of changes I am told. This is a joint fault of the coach and the FA. 5) Our players were ball watching at the back and failed to track back to dispossess the Argies – again poor coaching. 6) The quality of most of our free kicks / corner kicks was poor. Did the coach practice free kicks / corners enough with these boys? I doubt it! The quality of the ball in the final third of the opponents half were also poor. 7) The ball movement was average and the movement off the ball was poor until Osaze and Martins were introduced. However, we had some shape, due to the zonal marking arrangement of this team. It is doubtful if we were psychologically prepared enough for this opening match! Hindsight they say is everything but most of us saw this defeat coming and would have gone for this line up instead ------------------------Enyeama----------------------------------------------------- Odiah ------------Yobo/Adeleye------Shittu/Apam----------------------Taiwo/Echejile ---------------------Keita--------Etuhu------------------------------------ ------------------------------Uche ( Haruna, Kanu)--------------------------------- Utaka (Ogbuke)--------------------------------------------------------------Osaze (Nsofor) ----------------------------------------Martin (Yakubu)---------------------------------- With Osaze and Utaka at the wings, we had a chance to attack the poor Heinze - Argie LB and the make shift RB Gutierez. They would also have helped at the mid to track back and help the midfield. Martins is the fastest CF we have and it is appalling that against a slow and makeshift Argie defense we did not unleash him from the beginning. Yaks showed why he should not be first choice in that slot! See you in the comments. Please limit to the Nigeria v Argentina match. We shall look at the others as well. At the end of the day, I feel we that based on obvious tactical errors from these all winnable matches, I would recommend to sack coach / pretender Largerback. I would also recommend the following a) Get a world class foreign signed to a long term deal including developing the younger eagles. Aim should be to win the African Cup of Nations. b) Get various Nigerian coaches on a training roaster in various clubs in the world during this transition and arrange local training as well. c) New coach should help discover local talents, so we start planning with strong Local based Eagles. He should liaise with the Local Eagles coach to achieve this. d) Football talents are best discovered young. We should revisit various levels of competitions to ensure we are not missing out on talents. When we discover talents, we should have a plan to mature the talents. |
Tactically, Largs has not impressed. Whats the playing Keita as RM? Is he a RM? is he not a DM? Our mid always are overrun because of this poor tactics. Why not put John Utaka or Odemigwe to play that wing? The only thing the guy did is to ensure they maintain there shape, but that does not win matches. He is i the same bracket as Amodu if not worse. Why is Haruna not freed to attack more? Instead a lot of defensive duties is placed on his young shoulders |
"2 nations are in your womb, the elder shall serve the younger, " Blacks are descended from Esau or Edom, whites are from Jacob. Why all the fuss? Read your bible and ask for understanding! |
Sagamite While I agree with you that we were ball watching, I think That Arrow Amodu would not have fared better- but again he is not rated as much as Lagerback. There are obvious flaws in our game and Lagerback using Keita as a RM did not help matters. The prep in a high altitude environment was only one day which in my opinion was a major kuck up! I think we should all hope that against greece, we see an improved eagles. Who knows we might get to semis ![]() This argument is getting boring guys, lets watch the German machine destroy Aussies. Poor refreeing is making me hate the match already! |
I hope you watched US v England. The underdog, sowed desire and orgnisatio to get a draw. That is what I expected from the Eagles. |
some people come here and talk about argentina like its gabon, what sort of players do we have to even dare to compare to argentinaYou are not well versed in this game. Please watch Inter v Barca at the Nou Camp to understand what we are talking about |
At the begining I thought Ramon Domenech was our manager when I saw the selection,Exactly. How can you in all honesty play a DM as a wide man? This guy cannot shoot and he knows it! We had warm up matches ffss!!! What were your better players doing on the bench? We had an Arg squad that was sharp attacking wise, bt not very good mid and defense. It would be interesting to see how they do against S Korea, who are more intelligent players! We shall see. Talking about nerves, the Argies were very nervous. They fear Nigeria a lot, so on the nerve front we were equal! |
It is a testament to mediocrity elevated in my Fatherland that make peeps come here and tell me that they saw the best Nigerian squad. We were better in the junior category in China. We had keita as a DM and Adeleye defending. Ok we were inexperienced in finishing and atatcked too much, but we are still showing these same errors 2 years on and an overpaid coach to boot! I doubt if this Arg squad can beat Korea and the best we can get from S Korea is a draw if we are lucky. Amodu is shite, but Largarback is overated. poor selection poor formation poor mid, leaving spaces Lack of imagination for set pieces ball watching defense and lacking cordination These are the reasons we hired him in the first place! |
I would like to drink the Larger that that swedish guy is drinking from. For all the money he got paid, he put the wrong players in the wrong formation with the wrong tactics. Ok we have average players but a good manager can still lead average players to some glory. We have seen JM- porto, And Greece lift Euro Cups, so the manager is important! Our line up should have been Yaks Martins Osaze Utaka/Nsofor Haruna Keita Echeji/ Taiwo Adeleye Yobo/shittu odia |
There are several ways of supporting the WC U can clap by your TV U can issue a press statement U can donate to SA why do you need to travel at tax payer's expense to show your support? |
Playing Keita wide right is senseless. This Lager man should be sacked from SA. No need to get to ABJ I expected him to remove OBasi not Nsofor. We are giving too much space to these Argies. They are not strong , but they are quite technical. Nsofor would have threatened the goal in a counter attack not Keita, who has never had any shot on goal in any match I know of. we should be careful against counter attack! |
Am surprised at the amount of space we give these guys! We are not playing N Korea ffs!! We need to learn from JM. Close these guys down in Mid and defense and take your chances. |
Watched the SE match against Columbia again, we seem not to dominate the mid against teams and there is no winger. How dumb does it get to play Keita as a winger? I think Largs will fail. He has brought shape, but no outlet and the mid is still not dominant. my fears! I hope the next match proves me wrong! |
Iyineda, Formations should be fluid and not static over 90 mins. it should neutralize the opponent and help you win where possible. Against Argentina who are faster on the ball with poor defenders, a conter attack strategy should be employed. Kaita is not really a winger, so is the winger Osaze or Utaka or Nsofor? |
Apart from Osaze and Utaka, we have no natural wingers. So choosing Utaka is a o brainer. Will you choose Anichebe ahead of any of the strikers? I think not. kanu offers experience! You will need experience against teams like Korea and Argentina. |
I felt they had a shape yesterday. This is what you get when you are properly managed by a proper manager. However, they still kinda slow for me. The Argies are not going to give them much time on the ball. The defence has still not jelled. Taiwo is always caught out of position. I cannot have him as a starter there. They still need to focus on shooting, which is a problem for African teams and is always the difference between them and the Europeans. They need to focus on set pieces too. We should really judge them with their last friendly against N. Korea. On attack, there was little intelligence, just a bunch of guys with poor control and poor shooting skills. The coach needs to make them bite, not bark around the last 3rd. The drug boys looked more threatening at the final third. My team for now: Enyeama Odiah Apam/Adeleye Shittu/Apam Echiejile Mikel/Etuhu Kaita Haruna Osaze Nsofor I. Uche 4-5-1 We can convert to 4-3-3 when looking for goals! |
Sleek Reek:Sleek, the opponent is Argentina not South Africa. Have never seen Yobo play RB in a competitive environment. Why play your best striker Osaze so deep as a midfielder? I kow you want him to help defensively and at the mid, but he is not that good as a ball distributor! |
Imagine Largerbak just called your mobile. He needs your complete analysis and formation to cage Argentina and give the Super Eagles a chance to progress beyond th group stages. What formation would you play against Argentina our first major test? Which players would you use and why? Please stick to the issues- Thanks |

I need to make this clear to mist young christians on Nairaland. That you are a "man of God" does not mean that you have salvation. Calling on Christ and doing miracles does not offer salvation. Seeing visions does not offer salvation. The devil sees visions too and heals as well. What is TB Joshua's personal relationship with God. I only see him on TV preaching, but what goes on behind the camera will decide his fate |
temmytanny:The banks that failed in the USA failed because of a difficult business environment, not because their CEOs cornered depositors funds. Nigerians are funny people, you cannot get something from nothing. If the mirage of the Soludo's era has to go fir us to get real growth, then so be it. The banks were well over the cliff before Sanusi came. What has he done wrong? a) He injected funds into sick banks b) He sacked currupt CEOs c) He limited tenure in banks d) He limited director's tenure e) He restructured banks risk profile f) He created a vehicle for toxic assets Some will say that the banks are not lending. This is true, but this is momentry. Yes, the new CEOS think that they will have to collect back some hopeless loans the banks gave out before lending-but this is now down to Sanusi but to the new CEOs of such banks. They need to continue to lend correctly as lending is the main source of revenue for Banks all over the world. Leave the mallam alone, he is very sound. Heis head and shoulders above Soludo and am not a northerner! |
**** and that includes InesQor. Sheet your sword! Can we read your own views on the subject matter and reasons for such views? |
The whole point of joining the religion thread is for us to learn from each other in many ways. Sometimes you win some and loose some, but I am not happy about the slanging match between Viaro and Deepsight. Can we call a truce and focus on the discussions? Both of you offer great contributions from your different perspectives, but I have an issue when people develop animosity towards each other from their laptops or desktops, when they hardly know each other. You both have overflogged your points, so lets move on, shall we? , And by the way, no winner, no looser! |
aletheia:Good question. Let me attempt to answer. The body could be different but it does not prevent the resurrected body from bearing evidence of the impact of crucifixtion. Let me give you another example. If his legs were broken, the man would have been limping on resurrection. It still does not mean that the guy after resurrection was the same person b4 resurrection. Otherwise, why was he not recognized on sight Why did they need to have their "eyes opened" before recognizing him? Were they walking with their eyes closed or their senses blurred? He was even said to look like the gardener! Someone they saw last 3 days ago?? Let the Spirit guide you! |
Some more explanations on the concept of heaven, After Christ died, he was no longer the same person his disciples used to know. He put on a glorified body which was different from his physical body. Because of the spiritual energy around him, he asked that they do not touch him untilll he goes to his Father our Father. Now who saw him undergo that journey because later they touched him? They only touched him after he had reduced his energy to a level safe enough for humans. That was why he joked with and later asked his disciples to touch him that he was not a spirit - as they knew spirits. No matter, the stark evidence from all the scriptures shows that Mary Magdalene could not recognize him initially- ditto the other disciples. Is it possible for somebody you had known to die and you fail to recognize him after just 3 days? He raised Lazurus from the dead, but everybody recognized Lazurus when he was brought back to life. Int the case of Christ, they only recognized him after their "eyes were opened" from his voice (word). When he spoke the word, which was God himself, they were now in spirit and they recognized he was their master, Jesus Christ . Let us note that after his ressurection, he no longer walked or slept with them. You could not miss the fact that "level had changed". For instance when they locked themselves in he appeared, without opening the door. He had thus become a full fledged spiritual being with a physical presence, to appear anytime, anywhere. Thus he had become omnipresent - one of the qualities of God. When he went up and was "received" by the clouds, am sure you do not imagine that he kept travelling through the clouds into space? Did he fly past the Moon, Mars etc before getting to planet "Heaven"? Can we not see that the covering off (receiving) of the clouds was done to hide from mortals a sacred spiritual transformation? Surely he could by the speed of thought be in the spiritual realm called heaven, or not? It seems to me that the ascension was more or less There are two levels of existence - The physical and the spiritual. The spiritual defines the physical but the physical does not always define the spiritual. The spiritual has no limits. Heaven is not so far away as we imagine. It is right by you, in your heart. Keep it pure and practice love, the Father , son and Holy Spirit will live right inside you. Your body is the abode of God, you do not need to ascend before you are in heaven. You become a member of the Kingdom of God and You become tuned in properly to the highest spiritual power - The Godhead. It may not make you rich, but it will comfort you when most in need. Let us realize the deep spiritual events that happened during the ressurection and ascension of Jesus and not trifle it by assuming he is living physically in heaven. Remember he metioned that he was coming back with a new name ( Rev3:12), and of course a new body. If he stilll has the old body, why come with a new name? Be in spirit so that you are not misled. |
Read through all of this. Why young men do these arguments end up in flames/IS it a question of ego? Noetic v Viaro Noetic concludes that even though it is stated that Elijah went to heaven, the evidence of Jesus from a recent testament counters that, plus the fact that there are many heavens. Which heaven did he go to? Certainly not the one Jesus came from! Why is it a big deal to understand this, Viaro? Seriously this is what I take out from this. Viaro v Deepsight Deepsight has made straitfoward deductions from your statements, like a lawyer in a court, and he is right. Your understanding of scripture is the problem here. Let us examine the situation of Christ. he was taken up towards heaven and a cloud receive him from their sight, Now, none of us can say for certain if he went with his body after the cloud receives him. We can only conclude that in heaven, God will look like an angel being, and on earth, he will exist as man. Ditto for Enoch and Elijah, the writers saw them taken up, but after they disappeared, they will most likely be tramslated from their pysical being to spiritual being. There is no material address in the sky called heaven. Do not take Bibilical words carnally. Let me give you another example. Christ said he came down from heaven; Does it mean he flew with a chariout down to earth? Does it mean he flew down from heaven by himself? I think it is a spiritual event. When it is written that the trumpet will sound, a carnal understanding will take it to mean that some angels will stay afloat in the sky with trumpets sounding all over the earth. Is this not the work and understanding of false religion? |
* in other words, there is freewill, but that freewill is defined wrt our earthly existence. In another plane, things are already determined and must so happen on earth. That is why there is a message for salvation in the Bible through Christ, but the same Bible tells you about the Elects. Who are the elects? Have they not been determined? At what level were they determined? Sure you get my drift, |

Why did they need to have their "eyes opened" before recognizing him? Were they walking with their eyes closed or their senses blurred? He was even said to look like the gardener! Someone they saw last 3 days ago?? Let the Spirit guide you!
