ednut1: Lord Lugard, the former governor-general of Nigeria, in 1926, wrote his unfiltered thought about Nigerians. From his book, The Dual Mandates, come these excerpts: "In character and temperament, the typical African of this race-type is a happy, thriftless, excitable person, lacking in self-control, discipline, and foresight. Naturally courageous, and naturally courteous and polite, full of personal vanity, with little sense of veracity, fond of music and loving weapons as an oriental loves jewellery. His thoughts are concentrated on the events and feelings of the moment, and he suffers little from the apprehension for the future or grief for the past. His mind is far nearer to the animal world than that of the European or Asiatic, and exhibits something of the animals' placidity and want of desire to rise beyond the state he has reached.
"Through the ages, the African appears to have evolved no organised religious creed, and though some tribes appear to believe in a deity, the religious sense seldom rises above pantheistic animalism and seems more often to take the form of a vague dread of the supernatural. He lacks the power of organisation, and is conspicuously deficient in the management and control alike of men or business. He loves the display of power, but fails to realize its responsibility - he will work hard with a less incentive than most races. He has the courage of the fighting animal, an instinct rather than a moral virtue. In brief, the virtues and defects of his race -type are those of attractive children, whose confidence when it is won is given ungrudgingly as to an older and wiser superior and without envy. Perhaps, the two traits which have impressed me as those most characteristic of the African native are his lack of apprehension and his lack of ability to visualize the future" Spot on for the average case. This is consistent with my observation. |

Crime › Re: Kenile Nwabuzor: Hairdresser Commits Suicide Over Disagreements With Boyfriend by Martinez39(m): 11:29am On May 04, 2019 |
Stanweezy: Commit suicide for what, when u can gladly buy 40seconds sperm like Tonto and have ur own son It's not that easy to say. You never can tell how much she invested into the relationship only for it to break up and realising that such investments were all for nothing. Most times, the investments are such that if they were never made, the person would have been far better off career-wise and financially. For example, a girl refused to go to university so that she could pay for the education of her medical student boyfriend so that he will earn better and together with her petty trade, the family would be well taken care of. Seven years later, after housemanship, the boyfriend dumps her cold. How do you expect her to feel knowing that her sacrifices and investments were all for nothing? Or a male illiterate trader strains himself financially and couldn't expand his business because he decided to train the girl he wanted to marry in the university and law school. Seven years later, after her graduation, she says she can't marry him because she is above his league after promising him marriage. How do expect him to feel? If he becomes suicidal, would you be surprised? If he murders the girl or pours acid on her, would you be surprised? Behind every suicide cases resulting from a break up is either a foolish obsession/love or huge irrecoverable investments and sacrifices. Investment are not only financial in nature, they could also be emotional. Never judge these people who kill themselves after a break up. I don't support suicide but people can really be pushed to the wall. |

That's no fair. While he was fvcking her and leading her on, didn’t he remember that she wasn't that educated? Why the cruelty? This is unacceptable.
This is similar to what many girls do to men: after seeing them through school, making them comfortable financially with the hope that you will marry them as you both promised, when they graduate, they dump you. They will give the excuse that they are more educated than illiterate you and they deserve better. All your money down the drain. |

Rossikk: You are a complete RETAR.D, just like the other MO.RO.NS here who think like you.
Leader A rules you for 63 years and builds 0 universities.
Leader B is in office for 59 years and builds 200 universities.
In your DUMB head, Leader A is better than Leader B.
And you wonder Oyibo calls you DUMB. Lol. Times are different. Your leaders are worse than the colonists. The monetary value of what they are looting superceed that of the colonists. What's the essence of building universities when they would be left to deteriorate and their children still go abroad. Under the colonists, if universities were built, they would never be bad as they are today. If universities make you think your leaders are better off, I rest my case. LITERACY LEVEL AND CORRUPTION ARE MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE. WHY IS THIS HARD TO UNDERSTAND? GOOD DAY. |

Politics › Re: Roger Johnson: What I Hate About Corruption In Africa And Nigeria Specifically by Martinez39(m): 5:44am On May 04, 2019 |
Rossikk: You are a total DUNCE. Get this into your thick skull. Corruption REDUCED SIGNIFICANTLY after independence. At independence, following 63 years of uninterrupted British rule, literacy rate in Nigeria was under 10%.
Today, at barely 50 years of independence, literacy rate is at 75% and rising, due to MASSIVE investment in public education by post-colonial govts.
Statistically, YOU would be a village illiterate just like your grandparents, were it not for independence in 1960.
Our FIRST power station was Kainji Dam, commisioned in 1964 by the Balewa govt.
Prior to that, the colonialists used to import huge industrial generators to power the GRA and Ikoyi areas where they resided.
The rest of the country used lanterns.
Between 1897 and 1960 (63 years), the colonialists built 0 universities. By universities I mean FULL FLEDGED unis.
Between 1960 and 2019 (59 years) post-colonial govts have built approximately 200 universities.
At independence a FOOTPATH led to your village, because there was near zero investment in infrastructure by the colonial regime.
Today, a ROAD leads to your village, courtesy of black govts.
These are just A FEW EXAMPLES of the strides we have made since independence.
HOW DARE YOU CLAIM that black leaders ''superceded'' the corruption of the colonialists when black leaders have spent THOUSANDS OF TIMES MORE on the Nigerian public than the colonialists ever did?
YOU DELUDED, BRAINWASHED, WHITE WORSHIPING, IGNORAMUSES have no idea how far you have come by being independent.
Until you get it into your THICK, STUPID SKULLS that COLONIALISM was an enterprise of TOTAL, COMPREHENSIVE LOOTING of your resources compared to whatever we see today, you will continue to be seen as DUMB, BRAINLESS FOOLS by the rest of the world. Lol. You are just being foolish. Literacy level and corruption are mutually exclusive. Your leaders have looted more than colonists. |

When Nigerian men are able to stand equally with other men as nation builders and even surpass them in activities other than skull mining, drug dealing, sex trafficking and terrorism, they can lecture me on gender equality. Until then No body is trying to lecture you on gender equality. Whether or not Nigerian men meet a certain standard, gender equality still stands. What an irrational post. |
