Not holding brief for PMB,falana made some valid points, but the reality is that fuel subsidy, price control,fx fixed rate must go if we are to move forward, all opec countries have increased price of PMS,their currency weakened against the dollar,if the price of oil should go up,government will have to pay more for subsidy, naira is no more 145 at the black market,we dont have dollars in the reserves, the avengers are blowing up pipelines and gas lines,Man will die only once, lets do it now,and please dont increase minimum wage, that will futher weaken the naira to a thousand to a dollar,it wont change anything, lets allow the natural flow of the market and plug all loopholes. |

Do you save when you have abundance or when things are scarce and tight? For your information poverty is not a lack of resources but a misuse of opportunity. It amazes me to see that every of their action is based on what Tinubu says and does, they have no kind of their own. Talk of the real definition of zombie how much was the dollar in 2012?how much was price of crude oil in 2012?how many barrel oil was Nigeria producing in 2012?how much did FG made in 2012 compared to the last one year, with a the money people are confessing they took, from Dasukigate 2.1billion dollars now we are in Allisongate reportedly over 10 billion dollars, fantastic thieves.Am not saying PMB is the best but Gej fall my hand too much, from his back ground,he could av done better. |

kinibigdeal: What as saving from recovered looted funds, TSA etc done so far? am sure what you think you know about SURE -P was read to you on the pages of the newspaper, too bad if you dilute that. As for the SURE-P, it was a very successful scheme which i 100% aware of, i cant count how many Osun state indigene that benefitted from that scheme. You need to find out more about a scheme before you allow other peoples interest to confuse your direction.
Your comment about the economic effect of the fall in the global oil price further shows lapses about the reality on ground. I wrote an article about "how other oil producing countries are benefitting from the fall in global oil price" and why Nigeria is lagging behind. Bro the fall is not the problem but our economic policies "on a fixed economy" instead of a floating one to keep the parallel market in balance. I dont think i have much time to start explaining this, but i will advice you study before you write an exam.
Now ask yourself this question, the continous negative value of over-recovery on PPRA website, what does it signifies? please find out. If they claim to remove subsidy, why controlling the landing cost? please find out too.
Bro, President Buhari's economic policy "is dead on arrival". i agree with you on allowing the market to float, but sure p was just for PDP grass root members,if it was successful how come they stopped paying immediately Gej lost, last time sure p was paid was b4 the presidential election. |

omenka: First off, I'm a party supporter and not a Rep. Be clear on that.
Now, make no mistakes, I appreciate the hardship the citizens are going through but also know too well some bitter pills must be swallowed and sacrifices made if we desire to attain the record heights we aspire to as a country.
We all know that policy is unsustainable and some of us, in our private fora, supported the idea of its total removal even under the ex-president- the only misgivings being that the regime was fatally corrupt and any saving made thereof could easily be stolen in the blink of an eye.
How SURE-P was handled vindicated our position. It became a facade behind which the most obscene acts of corruption/theft were perpetrated- that much was confirmed by the Chairman Kolade Christopher himself who eventually threw in the towel in disgust.
We must admit there would have been a more propitious time to administer the pill but for the government to have had the balls to pull this off at a time like this suggests it's already had its back up against a reinforced wall through which it couldn't break.
What we are witnessing today are a cascading effect of the record plunge in oil prices- world oil majors have been feeling the pinch as well- most notably Venezuela. Even Saudi with her trillion dollar economy has been slashing subsidies, how much more Nigeria...
I have no doubt the president has the best interest of the country at heart and fully understands the consequences of his action. I'm confident savings made from this would be channelled into areas with real and measurable impact on the average Nigerian- it isn't gonna be another SURE-P regime. When this is done, our country men and women would eventually see the propriety of the policy and would even forget shiit even happened.
Ask yourself this- would we rather keep buying gasoline at about twice the official rate while "subsidising" it or officially deregulate while the price remain unchanged??
This stuff would pan out beautifully, I believe so. it beats my imagination after each revelations after revelations and confession, some people still wish we are under Gej administration, how a good number of his ministers suddenly fell sick after May 29 baffle me,PMB might not be the best but he is way better than Gej,we dont have the fx for subsidy period. |
Politics › Re: Pa Ikhide Regrets Protesting Against Jonathan by masseratti: 11:10pm On May 11, 2016 |
With all due respect sir,Gej had enough foreign reserve to back oil subsidy,PMB does not,the price of oil has changed, while am not holding fort for PMB ,they should not regulate the price of pms,no bench mark, let the licence for oil import be open for everyone, anyone, let everybody go to the back market to source for FX. |

sunnyb0b0: You need to ask your school to refund whatever money you paid them for Maths lessons.
Now, breaking it down in a layman's way,
Nigeria sells oil in dollars and converts the dollars to naira with which it funds it's budgets. Now at $9 per barrel in 1999 and official exchange rate of 22 naira, 1 barrel of crude would fetch OBJ 9 × 22 = N198
At $40 per barrel in 2016 and official exchange rate of 199, 1 barrel of oil would fetch Buhari 40 x 199 = N7,960
So, for every N198 OBJ earned, Buhari earned N7,960
I'll leave you to do the rest of the Mathematics. i agree with what you said, but you are looking at it at income angle, what about expenses, two factors made Nigeria broke, increase in minimum wage and the rate of dollars,Obj's budget was 800billion naira in 2002 his recurrent was 550 billion naira, compare that with a the current reccurent of over 4trillion naira, and put in mind that most capital project are valued in dollars, most of the materials to be used will be imported plus expats and they will be paid at the current exchange rate, you are not looking at the balamce sheet, you are just looking at the income side ignoring the liabilities,Nigeria av being broke since Gej era,if not why did we borrow money to buy arms and pay salaries? |

Obasanjo met the foreign reserve at $3.5bn and, oil price at $9 and a foreign debt of $32bn.
Buhari met the foreign reserve at $30bn, oil price at $40 and foreign debt of about $8bn.
Now, you be the judge...... and how much was minimum wage during Obj era?with all the sanctions during Abacha era he still saw money to steal. If naija was not broke why did Gej borrowed money to pay feb, march and april salaries in 2015 when oil was selling above 80 dollars, you do the maths. |

linuxuser: I guess you did not read what was credited to ASUU but rather was perhaps bent on defending your Dullard Daura President.
In school, did your teacher set exam for you termly or yearly? It was termly, why did you think your teacher did that? He did that to know you are still able to continue. The bet is that if you cant remember what you were thought about 3 months ago, how would you remember what you were thought in nine months time?
Your Dullard Buhari is being judged or examined by what he did in 1 year so in essence this is his termly exam result. Got it? with all the mess he met there?so far he is not doing so bad for 1st quater exam, thats not failure. |
