A 69-year-old man is currently suing to lower his age by 20 years so he can have more dating prospects. The man says he has the body of a 49-year-old so why not change his age if you can change your name and gender.
The Dutch man is suing to legally make himself 20 years younger to boost his dating prospects, BBC News reports.
Emile Ratelband told a Dutch newspaper he wanted to change his birthday from March 11, 1949, to March 11, 1969, because he felt an age bias—particularly when trying to obtain employment or find prospects on the dating app Tinder.
“When I’m 69, I am limited. If I’m 49, then I can buy a new house, drive a different car. I can take up more work,” he said.
“When I’m on Tinder and it says I’m 69, I don’t get an answer. When I’m 49, with the face I have, I will be in a luxurious position.”
Ratelband also likened the age change to legally changing genders. “You can change your name. You can change your gender. Why not your age?” he said.
Ratelband reportedly argued his doctors said he has a 45-year-old’s body, and he called
himself a “young god.” BBC News also reported Ratelband was willing to give up his pension for the age change.
A local court near Amsterdam will reportedly rule on the lawsuit within four weeks.

A Michigan woman got more a bath after she spent five days stuck in her own bathtub because she was unable to reach the handrail she normally used to pull herself out.

She was rescued thanks to a vigilant postman who noticed that she wasn’t picking up her mail as usual.
It was a nightmare for 54-year-old Alison Gibson who became a prisoner in her own bathroom on October 15.

She lied down in her bathtub as she normally did, but after finishing her bath, the woman found herself unable to reach the metal handrail she used to pull herself back up. She apparently had her back turned to it and there was no way for to grab a hold of it, so she was basically stuck there. To make matters worse, she had left her phone in another room, so she couldn’t call anyone for help.

“When I get down there, I couldn’t get back out,” Gibson told local news station WJRT-TV “Because (the handrail) was behind me, I couldn’t get myself turned around to get a hold of it, that I usually use to get out.”

‘I basically just sat there,” the 54-year-old, who lives alone, added. “When I got cold, I ran the hot water. When I got thirsty, I took a drink out of the cold water. That’s about it, try to find a way to get out.”

Unfortunately, Gibson couldn’t find a way to get out of the bathtub or contact someone for help for five days. She would have probably remained stuck there even longer, if not for a vigilant postal worker who, after noticing the mail piling up in her mail box on October 19, notified her neighbors. Some of them went to the back of her house and called out her name, and, after hearing the woman yell back for help, called 911.

A store which receives donations from the public has found an albino python among the items dropped off in one of its collection centers. It was probably donated by someone.
The company is called Goodwill Retail Store & Donation Centre.
One of the workers of the store collecting clothes and other items at a Texas sorting centre was surprised to find an albino python clinging to the side of a bin.
The python was huddled in a pile of clothes when the worker discovered it Thursday at the centre in Fort Worth.

Manager James Murphy says it’s not clear if the snake slithered away from its owner and was accidentally dropped off or if its donation was intentional.

Goodwill staffers will care for the python until the owner claims it or a permanent home is found.

He is called the “Dog Man” and his vocation is simple. He just travels round the country rescuing stray dogs in Mexico.

Edgardo “Perros” Zuniga has become an internet sensation ever since he began the personal task of travelling all around Mexico on a tricycle, looking for abandoned and injured dogs to rescue and put up for adoption.

He has rescued over 400 dogs in the last 5 years.
When he left his home in Jalisco in 2013, 48-year-old Edgardo set a very clear goal for himself – to help as many stray dogs as he possible could. Over the last five years, he has travelled through 14 Mexican states and rescued over 400 abandoned dogs, by nursing them back to health and later placing them in the hands of staff at various adoption centers.

He also helped dogs that weren’t eligible for adoption, by treating their illnesses, feeding them and doing everything in his power to improve their lives before continuing his journey.

He travels with a pack of loyal dogs that make up his ‘rescue team’ and that he claims make his job a lot easier by showing the strays he encounters that they can trust him.

Edgardo says that he added the “Perros” (Spanish for ‘dogs’) to his name because it’s indicative of his work and let’s people know that he is dedicated to his mission of helping stray dogs. The 49-year-old animal lover is aware that other people prefer to pour their time and resources into helping children, other people or endangered species, but he set out to become a “guardian angel” for dogs and he plans to see his plan through to the end.The 48-year-old man calls his mission a “journey to awaken people’s consciousness”, adding that he never asks anything of anybody, only that “they see what these loyal animals can do for us humans”.

“I work with the strength of the animal, what I do, I do out of love for them, not out of pity,” Edgardo said. “Dogs don’t care if it’s raining, if we are crossing a desert or if they’re hungry, they will always be by my side.”

Every state and province he passes through, Edgardo rescues more dogs which temporarily join his pack before being turned over to activists or veterinarians who try to find homes for them. Because he is always on the road, he can’t adopt them all permanently, but he tries to make their lives better in any way he can.

“Dogs are full of love and protection, that’s why it’s important that we take care of them as well,” Perros recently told EFE.

Some hawkers in the Abuja Orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), have been called out for allegedly refilling empty cans of bottled water with water form borehole and selling such to unsuspecting corp members.
It was gathered that the information was announced through the information unit of the orientation camp, warning all corp members to stop buying any bottled water inside Bigi water can. The information was announced by the Camp radio unit.

Reports have it that the fake bottled water hawkers were using empty cans of Bigi bottled water, filling it with water from borehole and chilling it afterwards to make it appealing.
Corp members are said to be rejecting bottled water sold in the bigi can by hawkers on camp.

Management of the camp has replaced Bigi Premium drinking water with J-First Table water, as part of measures to address the matter.

That’s something I rarely say after talking with a scientist, but Dr. Louis Cohen, a clinician and researcher at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, deserved it. I’m writing this article fresh from my phone interview with him, inspired by the young scientist’s clarity, organization, and flexibility in fielding questions.

All too often, the opposite is true: I finish a 30-minute interview exhausted by the effort of pulling out the information I need from someone who certainly is knowledgeable but doesn’t understand how to communicate his or her work to someone outside the field. As the Nobel Prize-winning playwright George Bernard Shaw noted so eloquently, “The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.”
If your scientific work is important – and especially if it has implications for the clinic – you want to make it as easy as possible to get it “out there.” For that to happen, it helps to know how to give a great interview – clear, concise and compelling – to the media. Here are some tips to help you do that.

Have your story ready.
It’s never too early to frame the story of your work, with key highlights, milestones, challenges and achievements. You’ll have material to draw from and won’t have to reinvent the wheel each time you have an interview. What prompted you to pursue your chosen field? What problem are you trying to solve and why is it important? Describe what you’ve been doing succinctly and logically, building to your most recent results and then looking ahead. Your story is the roadmap from which you will pick and choose your main points for each interview. Be prepared.

Do this exercise even if no one from the media has approached you yet. You’ll be ready when they do, and meanwhile will also be in a good position to discuss your work with your organization’s communications department or give a presentation.

Research the publication.
Google the publication in which the article quoting you will appear. Skim a few articles to understand the readership: Consumers? Scientists? Managers? Government officials? Are they interested in innovation? Problem solving?

As you prepare for the interview, frame your story in a way that fits with the publication’s overall approach, explaining why the reader of this specific publication should care about your work.

Research the journalist.
Use Google, LinkedIn or Twitter to quickly become familiar with the journalist who will interview you. Has he or she already written on topics related to your area of expertise? Knowing this will help you determine how much explanation you’ll need to give to make your work understandable.

Get context.
If possible, find out the premise and scope of the article. Will other people also be quoted? (Usually yes, but don’t expect to know in advance who they might be.) Does the writer have thoughts about what you can add to the discussion? (The writer may have read up on your work and have an idea of how it might fit into the article.) Use this information to think about your work in the bigger picture of what is going on in your field. If your work builds on the work of others, be prepared to acknowledge your predecessors or fellow scientists.

For example, Dr. Cohen’s area of expertise is functional metagenomics — a way of analyzing DNA from commensal bacteria without prior culturing. In our interview, he briefly explained how metagenomics differs from working with bacteria in culture. In response to my question about the importance of his work, he said that until recently, metagenomics had primarily been used to study bacteria in soil samples. But while working in the laboratory of Dr. Sean Brady, he began to use metagenomic techniques for clinical purposes — for example, to study gut bacteria.

An unbelievable footage has exposed an apparent ‘Fight Club’ in a childcare center in the United States.
The childcare centre is currently under fire after the video surfaced showing preschoolers punching each other in what appeared to be a “fight club” organised by teachers.
St Louis television station KTVI-TV obtained video taken at Adventure Learning Centre in December 2016.
The video shows small boys wearing oversized green Incredible Hulk fists punching each other, including in the head.

At one point a teacher jumps up and down in apparent excitement.

The only person seen trying to break up the fight is another toddler, but he couldn’t do that successfully.

Local police and Missouri state inspectors investigated at the time, but no charges were filed.
Both teachers were fired and the centre was allowed to remain open.

ABC America reported that one of the teachers told investigators the fight was to help kids with “stress release”.

The video was captured by the 10-year-old brother of one of the participants, who was in an adjoining room.

He sent the video to his mother, who called the centre’s director.

The director stopped the fighting and both teachers were fired.

The daycare centre’s cameras captured over 30 minutes of fighting, KTVI reported.

St Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner’s office declined to prosecute.

A statement on Wednesday cited poor judgment by the adult supervisors but “insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that any laws were violated”.

Spokeswoman Susan Ryan said there was no evidence that any of the children were injured.

But in the lawsuit filed in January, one of the mothers said her son “continues to suffer injuries to his body, as well as mental anguish”.

The eatery moved further in 2004 to become a sit-down restaurant where customers sit on toilets, not chairs. The restaurant serves traditional Taiwanese delicacies like hot pot and seafood, along with more international dishes like spaghetti and chicken nuggets.

Two popular ‘homosexual’ penguins in Sydney have become parents after they successfully incubated a baby chick.

The two male penguins entrusted with the care of a fostered egg welcomed a tiny sub-Antarctic Gentoo chick into the world, Sydney’s Sea Life Aquarium said on Friday, reports Reuters.
The pair, Magic and Sphen, made headlines around the world this month when aquarium staff gave them the egg, following a successful trial with a dummy egg.

The yet-to-be-named chick, weighing 91 gm (3.21 oz), was born on the evening of Oct. 19 and is the first sub-Antarctic penguin born at the aquarium.

The couple, who formed a bond before the 2018 breeding season, doted on the adopted chick, said Tish Hannan, an aquarium official.

“The first 20 days of a penguin chick’s life are the most vulnerable, so it is extra-important the chick is very happy, healthy and well fed by his parents,” she added.
Magic and Sphen had placed the egg on small nesting rings built with pebbles and shared duties, with one patrolling for possible threats, while the other kept the egg warm.

There is little difference between opposite-sex and same-sex rearing among Gentoo penguins, which share parenting and feeding responsibilities equally, Hannan said prior to the birth, adding that the example was not the first among zoos across the world.

A children’s book, “And Tango Makes Three”, based on the real story of two penguins at New York’s Central Park Zoo who reared their own chick, drew acclaim from some for its depiction of non-traditional family structures.

It was also among the titles Hong Kong pulled from bookshelves in public libraries this year, following pressure from anti-gay groups, the South China Morning Post newspaper has said.

A bizarre video of a giant python falling through the ceiling into a bank as staff were having a meeting has surfaced online.
The slithering snake found its way into the ceiling of the bank in China and startled staffers during their meeting when it suddenly fell from the ceiling above, the Shanghaiist reported Friday.
Surveillance footage of the eerie incident showed staffers standing around an office, in a bank in Nanning, Guangxi, when the 6.5-foot python fell from the ceiling.
The staffers immediately ran away as the snake appeared to slither off-camera.
Local wildlife authorities were reportedly able to wrangle the reptile.

It was free eggs galore at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam campus and some parts of neighbouring communities as a lecturer in the department of Mass Communication carried eggs on his vehicle and paraded town to create awareness on the event. Guess what; the eggs were given free to those who came close to the vehicle to pick them. Others who were still wondering what was happening missed out as the man drove off after allowing the first set of people to pick eggs for free.
The unnamed lecturer drove to the department of Mass Communication complex where he packed his car with raw eggs on the roof, boot and bonnet of the vehicle, making other lecturers and some students to wonder what was behind the bizarre development. That was when they were informed of the World Egg Day which was aimed at creating awareness on the nutritional value of eggs to humans.

Information sneaked into the ears of some students that the eggs were for free. Some of them dashed to the man’s car when he drove into the departmental complex with fresh crates of raw egg to pick some. After that, the lecturer then drove off to Ukwulu, one of the towns close to the University campus where people also collected eggs from the crates on his vehicle.

The plaque causes cavities; and when not removed from around the gum line, it can also lead to inflammation and irritation that make way for gingivitis or gum disease. Of course, gingivitis can progress to periodontal disease and, possibly, tooth loss, if not addressed early. So long use of toothbrush is trouble for oral hygiene. Yet this is a common habit among many people who feel a toothbrush is still good for as long as you can find a spot to place the paste.

As part of efforts to celebrate the International event, students of the Department of Mass Communication, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) who were outstanding in Visual/Non Verbal Communication practical activities were given Eggs as prize for their achievements.
Well, it wasn’t just eggs. They were given eggs and coconut as prizes for their outstanding performance.

A bottle of Macallan Valerio Adami whisky costs $1.1 Million (about N396 Million). It just shattered the record previously held by another Macallan bottle of scotch which sold for $1 Million last May. This record was broken on Wednesday.
Macallan Valerio Adami bottle of whisky was just sold in an auction in Edinburgh, Scotland. The 60-year-old bottle of Whisky fetched a world-record price of $1.1 million at a Bonhams’ whisky sale Wednesday.
The whisky was distilled in 1926 and bottled in 1986.
The bottle was designed by artist Valerio Adami as an extremely limited edition. The buyer is a U.K.-based whisky connoisseur who was in a taxi in Italy when the hammer came down, the Telegraph reports.
This particular whisky bottle which sold for $1,101,729 is significant because of its blend of rarity, vintage look and artwork, experts say.
“The Macallan 1926 60-year-old has been described as the Holy Grail of whisky,” Bonhams whisky specialist Martin Green said in a release. “Its exceptional rarity and quality puts it in a league of its own, and the world’s most serious whisky collectors will wait patiently for many years for a bottle to come onto the market.”
“All the appeal of Scotch whisky — the myth, the tradition and the romance — find its ultimate expression in this bottle,” said renowned international whisky consultant Charles MacLean.

This is a bit weird but a lecturer and his students decided to take classroom teaching to another level.
The unnamed lecturer in the department of Mass Communication, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), formerly Anambra State University. had a lecture on the role of costumes/makeup in communication, especially movies and stage performances. He decided to have what he called a “Zombie Quiz” where every student was required to prepare costume /makeup that would ‘transform’ them into a ‘zombie’ in class. You are to walk in with your own materials and put up the show as part of the quiz.

. . . and suddenly, the entire class “turned”.
The lecturer also wore a Zombie mask with blood dropping from his mouth and tattered clothes to ensure that students understood how serious the quiz was.

A lecturer in Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), formerly Anmbra State University, was recently captured running into the classroom to make it before students so he can shut the classroom door.
The lecturer is known for putting on the departmental wear with students and entering the class at exactly time for his early morning lecture, shutting the door afterwards and leaving a lot of students outside.

Whenever he discovers that students are walking lazily towards the classroom he usually runs to get in and shut the door before they can enter. This makes the students to run also.

An eagle eyed student recorded one if the hilarious incidents on camera. The video shows the lecturer getting out of his car and dashing towards the classroom door with a lot of students sprinting to get there before him.

Here’s the story. An amusement park corporation in the USA, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, is organizing a stay-in-the-coffin contest on October 13, to know who can remain in a coffin for 30 hours lying straight, reports newschannel9.

Widely known as Six Flags, this Corporation is an amusement park comoany based in the United States, with properties in the US, Canada, and Mexico. It is the largest amusement park company in the world, based on the number of properties owned, and is ranked seventh in terms of attendance.

Six Flags St. Louis will be holding the contest on Saturday, Oct. 13 to see if anyone, can remain in a tight coffin for 30 hours, almost completely straight.
There will be bathroom breaks, but anyone who exits the box for any other reason will be disqualified from the Fright Fest 30-Hour Coffin Challenge.
And “coffin dwellers will be allowed to bring a friend along during Fright Fest operating hours, but they must brave the non-operating hours alone,” a Six Flags press release reads. “Well, not exactly alone, some of our Fright Fest Freaks will be lurking about in the darkness.”
Potential participants can fill out a registration form to see if they can compete. Those who survive the claustrophobically creative contest will be placed in a drawing for a $300 prize if there are multiple people who make it the whole time. They will also receive two 2019 Gold Season Passes, a Fright Fest prize package, two VIP Haunted House passes, and a ticket for two to ride the Freak Train for Freak Unleashed. The coffin is also available to take home if the winner so chooses.

A female student of the Department of Mass Communication, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu University (COOU), Ezinne Okeke, has received award as the best student in creative advertising in the 2018 session.

Okeke was given 18 cups of beans, pawpaw and one yam tuber as prize for the award, including a certificate of excellence. She led a team that produced an outstanding poster on a fruit juice brand which was selected as the best by a number of judges who assessed a creative advert competition involving 150 students. Okeke was the creative concept originator in her team, making her outstanding amongst others.
Okeke was honoured with 21 other students who distinguished themselves in the creative advert competition.

The award was organised by massmediang.com, an online news platform that celebrates excellence in communication education especially among students.
Certificates were Presented to the awardees by the President of Students Union Government (SUG) of the institution, Comrade Benneth Udochukwu.

The Best Graduating Student of the Department of Mass Communication, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), formerly Anambra State University, Best Somadina Nwabuwa has been celebrated for his exceptional feat.

Nwabuwa was given award by an online news platform, massmediang to celebrate his achievement.
He was given an undisclosed sum of money, a live chicken and yam tuber by the news platform, an organisaton known for celebrating excellence in communication education using agricultural products.
The presentation was made today, at the Francis Oladele stand, at the Igbariam campus of the institution.
