There is a reason you ain't allowed to raise them in the city in sane countries. Whenever I come to Nigeria, I am usually woken up by their noises, or school children screaming which affects their eardrums or churches and mosques. We need to create commercial centers for all these noise agents so people can have better quality of life ...and sleeping well should be a fundamental right that shouldn't be for only those who live in Estates.
What we should demand for ..is the full unedited audio and for the source to be fully protected. This is journalism ...we need this type of investigation, so people can start resigning when they are caught or prevented from getting into public offices.
Someone in Obi's circle recorded the conversation and I won't be surprised if it's Kenneth. There are people who must have felt uncomfortable about Peter Obi as the election drew nearer. I am also certain that there are tons of such recordings somewhere and if he had won...we would have had lots of unrest knowing what we now know.
While I agree with you about his right to privacy ...taping and recording people have shaped the world we live in. CIA FBI all do it. The hacking into sensitive documents in the US allowed people to know that the Govt was spying on them illegally. If Peter Obi was indeed talking about religious war, it is important that we know, so the public interest awareness supercedes his right to privacy because his actions If he becomes a leader will affect us all. Remember Trump and grabbing the women by the p*****. That was leaked too
Beremx: Even if the conversation is real, why would someone go and tap it and leak it out? For propaganda? That's infringement of his privacy.
I am confused by what you said here. i did get your email and your documents, though it didn't indicate what you graduated with. Since you are in Ibadan, I will tell one of the NGO Trustees to reach out to you soon for NGO part time work. With time, I will look into what you can do for us. We do need a full time staff at Iwo Road area, but not exactly right now. Office is being set up.
Igbo leaders could actually be the ones advising the Govt lol. The difference between regular people and politicians...you think its A vs B for them but they are all one and the same...na you dey form A versus B. Elites push for their personal interests.
FalseProphet1: Why are Igbo leaders silent about this whole issue?
Does not mean he will make a good President or know how to manage the Naija economy. Obama did much more to convince us...he barely got anything meaningful done.
Doesnt mean they are paying taxes...Big businesses in the USA even get tax rebates, so showing me industries mean nothing. I listed to Soludo's speech and I was only telling you what he said...and it is not what you typed here. He is literally pleading for people to pay small percentage of the revenue they make to Anambra.
Anambra is commercial and industrial hub nor just tade, Anambra State have three major industrial estates See one of the industrial estate in Anambra, watch to the end and feed your eyes
Soludo only mentioned that if Anambra people pay 5% of revenue, the state IGR will increase to about N5b monthly but they won't pay ....Traders don't pay shishi so good luck with that. They need more organized agberos to force payments. Some make N100m daily...small looking construction material shops can make close to N10m daily...profit 10-15%. This is why the West progresses....taxation. US in massive debt because people know how to evade taxes legally courtesy of politicians
Anambra started receiving 13% oil Derivation on August 2022, I believe Anambra annual derivation will increase this year, and we have a prudent manager of our state economy which will go far in providing more infrastructures, Soludo is also walking to improve state IGR to 5 billion monthly
My only grouse is you are trying to make legitimate and illegitimate issue. If this stands how many more will pop up and claim legitimacy.
All those that claim funds from home builders, land grabbers , oil bunkerers. Etc.
The government has to put a stop to this completely anyhow they deem fit. ( let soldiers be on the streets if these guys won't disappear).
P.s I see you said private cars should pay 100 naira daily and I wonder why I should pay 100 a day for using my car? After paying my taxes.. or do you mean private cars that do transportation on the side?
Oga e no join at all because car owners would revolt
Cristiano Ronaldo has been spotted in Madrid driving an £8.8 million Bugatti Centodieci, one of just 10 models in the world.
The Al-Nassr striker was mobbed by fans in the city where he played for nine years, as they chanted his name and asked for selfies while he climbed back into the car and drove away.
He had taken girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez to a restaurant in the Spanish capital, and in doing so gave his hyper car a rare public outing.
Ronaldo bought the 1600 horse power Bugatti in March 2020 during his time at Juventus, and reportedly had it shipped to Mallorca with him for a family holiday last June.
The Centodeieci has rarely been seen in public though, which is hardly surprising given the £18m collection of cars the 38-year-old owns.
From a £2m Bugatti Chiron, to a £500,000 Ferrari 599 GTO and a McLaren Senna worth £750,000, he is famous for his expensive motors.
The vast array of supercars also comprises two Rolls-Royce motors: the Cullinan worth £300,000 and the Phantom Drophead coupe which costs around £500,000.
Ronaldo's girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez gifted him a third Rolls-Royce - the Dawn model worth more than £250,000 - last year for his 37th birthday.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner says his favourite make is Bugatti, a predictably expensive taste, and admitted to Piers Morgan in an interview he likes to have two of everything.
Other supercars owned by 'CR7' are a Mercedes G-Wagon Brabus worth £600,000, which was also a present to Ronaldo from his partner.
He also has a £1.5m Bugatti Veyron, a Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG worth £200,000, a bright orange McLaren MP4-12C (£200,000) and a Lamborghini Aventador (£270,000).
In 2021, Ronaldo bought a Bentley Flying Spur worth £250,000 to use in Manchester, having re-joined United from Juventus in August.
He then purchased a £200,000 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera convertible which boasts a 5.2 litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine and is capable of delivering a stunning 715 bhp.
He also has a Bentley Continental GT, a Lamborghini Urus and a Chevrolet Camaro worth 'only' £40,000, which is used for the family.
The five-time Champions League winner bought a Ferrari Monza worth £1.4m, having visited Ferrari HQ in Maranello in May 2021.
What people go through here is crazy but since she is Naija...get a lawyer, preferably American and sue her since you have the text, payments and all your expenses. She will be forced to reimburse at least your expenses and your legal fees. You should be able to find one on ProBono. Keep us posted
Controlla123: To my greatest surprise, on the day I was supposed to move in, she said she was going to drop the key at the entrance, and later, she said she will be home soon that I should give her some hours. I had already packed my stuffs, ordered uber and stuffs my belongings inside, only for me to get a message from Mrs Rita stating some gibberish excuse that she is not putting up the room for rent again bacause her daughter was coming back and she might cause some trouble. I initially thought i interpretted the message wrong, but after re-reading the text, I knew that I was dealing with a hopeless, and morally dysfunctional woman.
Who determines moral principle? universal moral principle...so let me break down your realistic solution that is not realistic..
what is turning a new leaf? You tell a man on drugs...just turn over a new leaf...even in the Bible, Jesus talked about those without sin to cast a stone first. Do you think you live on moral principle daily and who holds you responsible?
Who will enforce your moral principle? how will you guard against disorder if there is rebellion? what If there are widespread rebellions...this is not banning motorcycles...in some areas where people have options of moving to other areas ...some of these ageros are sons of the soil...they have more claims to their areas and neighborhoods than you and I.
You want to invest in programs...the same populace will tag its failure to you looting funds in the name of programs. If only Nigeria was ideal, we can talk of idealist plans but realistic...these your solutions are not in the current state of the states in the country
hush15: Justice is morale principle determing just conduct. The good thing about justice is it is a hard start but overtime, it's self sustaining. Ofcourse some of us ought not to have been born, atleast not now, maybe the world would have been a better place.
However, here is my own realistic solution, those that want to turn a new leaf will be welcomed and government will give them all the required support to be productive and responsible members of the society. All they need to do is pick a particular interest. Those that decide to continue in their agbero lifestyle will be held by the law and take punitive measures Mass re-orientation state wide also will be done also to encourage positive social living and promote an agbero free state. Several programs will be taken to engage them and those that excel might even be award responsibility. Am sure, I am sure if we make success of a few, others would see reasons not to engage but even help protect the society. It's not giving them fish but helping to catch fish that can make them self reliant without being a public danger or nuisance.
Most based on what data? what about monthly security payments to those that carried arms...did govt close illegal refineries before the security contract? or vice versa...answer that and explain if that is not accepting.
okeysoninv: most of illegal refineries has been closed up and some of them in prison as we speak in Rivers State. Agbero is not a work and can never be justified in a normal society. What law is guiding agbeo? Who enact the law. We basically lives on rule of law, if not you're in a banana republic where everything goes. That what you're insunating.
If US tries to take on all the gangs, they will fail lol ...people have limited knowledge so they think everywhere else is perfect...it's called living in a bubble called Nigeria or certain specific region and only think from that angle
dazzlingd: I was discussing this with a friend recently. People don’t understand governance. The biggest mistake US made was to kill saddam Hussein and Gadaffi. There is what they call necessary evil, the moment they eliminated those guys, Iraq and Libya have never recovered and that’s what led to terrorism everywhere. When people are looking for the downfall for mc oluomo, they don’t know he is a necessary evil. Do they think the government has the resources to contain the rampage of thugs in Lagos? What they need is one monster to manage which is MC Oluomo rather than battling to manage thousands of monsters without control
Even in the Us, the government deliberately left some people within control and watch them closely. They allow them some freedom to do their gangs and drugs as long as they are within a boundary
When people say they need govt to help...they are trying to say...they want a sweet deal. Sometimes the enemy of the good stops us from sleeping with the devil. If the deals ain't great, no administration should sign off on it for all of our sake or do a short term and be ready to cancel or set specific targets
Did we not give security contracts to those protesting against the Govt? is that not normalizing arms against the government? When you insult people, make sure you have common sense first...why ain't they killing at those with illegal refineries? You think they haven't normalized some of these already...some of them might be part of your tank drivers for crude oil now. Keep living in LA la land
okeysoninv: Sense is still far from you , is like saying Government should legalize illegal refinery because louts are making a living from there. We shouldn't condone illegality and unprofessionalism. If agbero turn to revenue collector they have to abide by the rules of engagement. People are often says if you close agbero work what will they be doing.like seriously, so all the Carpenters, bricklayers, plumbers, drivers etc. Are all dead. Very soon you people will have excuses for Yahoo, armed robbers and other sinister crimes.
so you are saying your own children will opt for agberosism because of N5k per day. I think not lol
Ejebleje: Sorry to have to quote your long epistle, but do you see the flaw in what you're proposing? Youngsters, and even parents, yes! Will see no need for education, formal or informal and will see thuggery as the easy way out. Heck, even potential law enforcement recruits will not be left out in the hysteria.
Great point and that is where investment in education comes in to reduce the number of dropouts, increase technology and gradually phase them out. The Agberos will even police themselves and make it harder for new recruits because the pay is ok and reasonable...it's not a one solution for all of our problems...we still need to solve the other problems...special education, alternate work, internship and training...and birth control
being: Unfortunately, while you will avoid an immediate problem, you will be creating a bigger problem of perpetuating thuggery as more younger ones will see it as a very profitable way of life.. and then cycle never ends . And thuggery becomes very rife in the society. It will become a menace. No don't manage evil.. deal with it once and for all!!
I said the leaders of the Agberos. We privatize industries and the CEOs make millions so what's your point. The salary must make sense. If the guys on the street make N5k per day.. that is what laborers make daily which is N100k per month...those coordinating the Agberos will need to make more and they can be educated or trained to be great leaders in the country or abroad. Again they will be making N25k per day coordinating their offices and their boys. You are looking at the total but these are daily wages and trust me, you won't do that job even with N100k in the sun or rain trying to sell tickets
Crazyfella: I can't believe I had to create an account just to reply to this comment. I was thinking you're making sense until I saw the part where you boldly wrote that an agbero should be paid like 500k monthly. Got me thinking, if an agbero should earn about 500k monthly with a lot of educated fellas earning not up to a fifth of that. What's stopping them all from dumping their different certifications for agberoism? If this your solution is to be applied, then I'm seeing the number of agberos we have in Nigeria increase significantly.
That is a dictatorial govt...how is it working out?
Nukilia: I wish this is how saner societies run. This your submission is recipe for crises. All the agberos must be treated the way Duterte treated the drug cartels in Manila. No room for domesticating rubbish!
Maybe because I have studied leadership over the years...a dictatorial govt is the fastest way to transform any society but you have to trade in your fundamental human rights and allow for abuse...China tried it, Rwanda did and so on...do we want brute force? People think governance is easy ...there are so many stakeholders and the agberos are the pawns on the Chessboard
Fearyourcreator: Many people no sabi this thing you dey talk... They just thought you go just enter dey give order like say na you get sense pass... E sweet na him Anambra no turn Dubai with infrastructure in 8years ...
and what is the definition of justice...some of us won't be born If our forefathers had received your so-called justice. I am talking about realistic solutions...you can present your own
hush15: In other words, a very dangerous thinking. Normalizing a nuisance is why there is no more justice in the world
I don't have access and I have tried to have a sit down with Gov Makinde...when I got no where...I set up my NGO to do my own part and leave them all alone.
I try Sir...I usually think deeply about issues and try to come up with realistic solutions not idealistic solutions. Solutions must make sense and be practical not based on emotions
NOUN just graduated prisoners..where do you think they learned all that? Do you know how much US spends on the prison systems ...even US cannot afford it and they are changing the rules so more people can be released or less people can go to jail...legalizing Marijuana is one you know too well. You think they have not normalize illegal immigration here or how many of the people you know illegally were deported this week? Trump tried with his stupid wall but that didn't do anything. You come up with a plan and I will gladly debunk them all...is it a nation in debt like Nigeria that will further criminalize..I shake my head when we criticize Boko Haram reforms as well...yall have NO CLUE how difficult governance is. Men locked up in the 80s..their children are making life difficult for everyone now.. and Clinton now admits that was a terrible policy. Study and learn..you could really know something
SeaTrade: Or you could just use deadly force and not have to deal with waste of human skin. Why don't the US rehabilitate and form a hierarchy out of terrorism? Because irrespective of how you structure them, other random groups will still spring up and it becomes a vicious circle. The only thing that deter humans is greater violence, nothing else. Simple, label them robbers,Create a tactical, deadly team with mostly people that are from different regions ,well equipped and well paid whose only job is to hunt down agberos like wolves and decapitate them,it'll end in a week as the business will rapidly lose footsoldiers due to fear. The only reason lagos structured and harboured it is because they love the money the menace makes for the state and also want to put some accounting to it so they don't lose money.
who will fight Boko Haram and safeguard VIPs? We should militarize Nigeria. .seems you are too young and didn't live under the military Era and their looting
Politicians make this country worse everyday. Touts are kept in place for elections, making it difficult for government to take them off the streets. With agberos, we will never have the right leaders in this country. Unfortunately too we have youth who claim to be educated, but are agbero in disguise. If your father is an agbero, bringing humongous sums home everyday, will you not support the system? The system that paid your school fees and gave you a good house and other properties? That’s what we face with educated children of agberos. I believe that there are too many of such youths here on Nairaland.
Buba Marwa showed the example when he was the governor of Lagos state, in 1996. Agberos had completely overrun Lagos state and citizens seemed completely helpless. Mile 2 was a war zone. One would pass that area with complete fear. Buba Marwa introduced “operation sweep” to the roads. What they simply did, even though it seemed high handed, was very effective in tackling the menace. They either shot them at sight or arrested them and disposed of them permanently. In a matter of days, agberos disappeared from the streets of Lagos completely until Tinubu arrived in 1999, as the state governor.
Anambra state, just like other states of the federation, faces the same problem. When governors say they will tackle agberos, it is simply on the face value. They never do it, even though they know that the simple language agberos understand is violence.
Our country has been ruined by corruption. It will only take a strong willed leader and the grace of God to save this country. When committees are set up to look into those matters, members of the committees receive bribes and the system continues. The humongous, non taxable amounts that get into the hands of security agents and government officials will always make them look the other way.
It is in the power of the people to resist such oppressively illegal groups. These non state actors can be easily addressed, if only the people take their destinies in their hands. Agberos are not faceless people. Attacking them in return will cause anarchy, but realistically what can the citizens do, when such criminal elements have gone haywire.
Should governments resettle them? Or should government send them to vocational centers? Remember that they say “crayfish wey don dey can never bend”. They will never change their ways. Earning money in that cheap way make them simply not interested in other forms of occupation.
The way forward is simply to return the military to the streets, simply for the purpose of tackling agberos. Also we must hope that such military personnel do not take bribes and look the other way.
So Lagos under democracy should start shooting to kill? When you said they resumed when Tinubu came to power...you think he called them back or their former ogas all died under the military?? Once military was removed, agberos will definitely force their way back into the system. We also forget some of their Ogas are very influential. Everyone is celebrating Eng. Makinde but he released another Oga of Agberos, Axillary and ibadan people will tell you he and his boys are untouchable. Managing them is the key ...condemning and creating enmity solves nothing. If the street become police vs agbero or army vs agbero, how will regular people handle these continuous states of unrest.
Politicians make this country worse everyday. Touts are kept in place for elections, making it difficult for government to take them off the streets. You might be right but what are the alternatives. Keep in mind these guys are not on salary, no retirement or health benefits or packages so long term they might actually save Govt money
Godsonkemz: Government is the course and sponsor of all these agbero illegal operations in the name of revenue collection. How do you lease a revenue franchise to a staunch cultist/agbero who employ fellow agbero to make sure he recover with excess profit the money he paid to government to secure such position.
