The guy said he has hotel reservation so he only wanted to visit Canada not a student....
Hotel reservations can easily be cancelled online. How does that prove he'll most likely return ? When you go and ask for a visa ask yourself how can I prove to them I'll definitely return. A hotel reservation and a letter talking about what sites you'll be seeing doesn't mean you'll return especially when you're from a 3rd world country. The concept is not hard people.

He is not applying for student visa and he doesn't need that much in his account to be able to get visiting visa.
He obviously does because he's been rejected. Nobody wants a "visitor" from naija who'll now claim refugee and cost the government more money to process than the little hotel money he'll be spending. He's not the first "visitor" who doesn't plan on returning.

Your cousin hasn't told you the truth yet. If he got a good job with the bank then all he needs is only one visa renewer to get ILR. I guess he was sacked by the bank or they refused to extend his contract.
What's a ilr ?

What is Canadian rich standard?
My uncle put down 30k Canadian cash for my cousins international fees each year with boarding. He's been getting a visa ever since. So I can't answer your question but that amount gives you an idea.

I have. Unless he's rich (Canadian standard) or has someone in canada helping him get a visitors visa, he won't be getting in.

I just got a refusal on my application today for just one reason of "purpose of visit" , truly I did not show any contact person invitation nor conference registrations in Canada, all I did was an hotel reservation and letter of explanation to show sites and places am visiting as a tourist. Please advice me if there is any amendment I can make to confuse them?
nigerians make me laugh. So you reserved a hotel and wrote a letter on which site you plan on seeing and you think they'll give you a visa ?

most students i know just go home after their studies or marry to secure their papers.

the uk is a funny place,

if u come wit all ur certificate and want stay, u will gladly be returned to ur country.

but if u come looking all crazy , no skills, no education, no future they will embrace you

and assign all sorts of social helps. before u know, them go give u red passport grin grin

my former baby sitter who is mechanical engineer was deported wit her kids to nigeria after her masters,

but one ishan girl wey dey pretend to get mental problem has just being given PR, given a 3bed house with her two kids and he has

never contributed anything to this country.

Was her master's obtained in a uk school ? If so that makes no sense. Why not work with graduates like canada does

The poster of this topic is absolutely correct. He forgot to add though that one of the reasons the UK govt want to only employ immigrants that can earn like 40k and above is also because they want to suck them dry through their new tax regime which does not favor people earning such amount. It means you will be taxed 40% of your salary, accommodation is crazy and transport meaning not much to save. Please take the advise if u have 9500 pounds to pay for school fees and 7200pounds a year for accommodation and living expenses, please spend it in another country that your future is relatively guaranteed if u want to stay. I just concluded my studies in the UK and I left immediately because I understand perfectly what the poster has said. Uk education currently only favors the people that want to study and leave the country. May God make 9ja a better country
Well said. I know this thread is old but I feel it wouldn't be fair if I didn't tell my real life story and help my fellow Nigerians. To begin with Canada is the best country to come to if you want to school, stay afterwards, and get a respectable job. I've met people who have ran away from the UK and America, coming to Canada because that's their best option of getting legal residency and staying. Back to my story. I went to naija for 2 months a few years back. My cousin wanted to come abroad, school then live. I told him Canada was the best option period. He said he doesn't care where he goes, he'll hustle and get legal papers that he's a "naija boy". I said ok oo, you better just come to Canada and especially don't go to the UK because it's a trap. One day he holla me and said he dey UK. I just laughed and said u fukked up, you'll see in due time. After he completed his masters, he had no job for almost a year. He landed a job selling fast food at football (soccer) games. After a few months of that he landed a good job at some financial firm. I told him congrats because I thought the UK's system was similar to Canada's. That's after school if you land a professional job you can apply for permanent residency (PR) after 2 years, get it, then citizenship in a few years after that. In 5 years you could be a full fledge Canadian citizen. He said that's not the case, because he has to constantly be re-applying for the work visa, and they have to make sure no UK or EU citizen is willing to do the job before they give him the visa. In short there's no path to citizenship for him and his work visa can not be renewed at anytime. He just doesn't know where his future lies in the country, with so many question marks. He's now looking at how he can come to Canada. lol

In Canada I have a friend who took the same program as my cousin but finished at the undergrad level. He got a work visa after school, got a job as a bank teller, filed for his PR and got it. He has now moved up with the bank but in a few years he'll be a Canadian citizen. Yet my cousin who took the same program and finished at the masters level is still there with an ordinary work visa with no path to citizenship. I have so many more stories I could tell here. Why people go to the UK is beyond me. Other than it being difficult to get citizenship, you have to deal with high taxes, small houses, small cars/roads and a high cost of living. No thanks.

no probs bro. so, if we claim refugee, are we eligible to work?
You'll be given temporary residence for a few weeks along with a work visa. After the few weeks they'll kick you out and tell you to go find your own place. By then you should be working and supporting yourself until your case is heard. The average wait time for a refugee claim to be heard and judge making a decision is 2 years. Mind you the only jobs you'll get are minimal jobs. Fast food restaurants, factory, etc in the meantime.

what is the process for going through the refugee route?
Once you're on Canadian soil go to immigration and claim refugee that you can't go back due to X. Right now there's a 2 year backlog in the system. It can buy you a two year grace.

ttmacoy. She is not the only illegal with kids in UK. The child is not illegal in UK. D child been born in.uk and haven't travelled outside uk does not need a visa to stay in uk. He will only need visa if he leaves uk and is returning.
There are people with worse immigration history than hers...but they have been given stay outside the rules....even.at present. Some do.hide their kids for 7 yrs to apply under 7 yrs concession rule or till the child is 10 yrs. And the law states application should be considered in.the best interest of the child. Which in.this case was not followed. Consult with your immigration solicitor.
Why can't Nigerians understand the rule of LAW ? IT'S THE LAW FOR THE LAST TIME. What do you mean the child is not illegal when the law says he is ? What are you talking about ? I also doubt the BRITISH government cares about the best interest of a NIGERIAN child. Because the BRITISH government serves the interest of the BRITISH. Its everyone's fault but the mothers ?

Am so happy to see this thread

Well I intend applying for a Canada tourist visa... And below is the documents I intend submitting

My passport
Bank statement
My travel plans
My Cac certificate
My tax document
My land document
Letter of introduction
My hotel booking

Am 30yrs and not married, am into entertainment, have an Audio and video studio

I don't plan using an agent, hope am good to go?
use an agent to be on the safe side. To get a tourist visa from naija you usually need to know someone here (family member) who's a citizen and is filing on your behalf or a really big boy. They won't just give an ordinary person there a visa like that.

If you don't have any recognized qualification in welding with the appropriate transferable experience, then there is no way you would be able to work as a welder or get a welding job in Canada.

What the bolded part means is that welding is a trade and you have to find an employer who would be ready to indenture you i.e sign you on to train under a journeyman. Then you learn for on the job as a year 1, 2 and 3 welding apprentice where you would be given a book by the government to register your hours worked, You would be also required to attend a technical college/polytechnic full-time for around 4 months a year.

After completing the required hours, you become a journeyman welder. With that ticket, if you get a welding truck(with stick, mig and tig equipment) like the ones in the pic below, then you can say hello to $100/hour in Canada!

But the problem is, the government would only take a permanent resident or citizen on an apprenticeship scheme. Your option is to hae a recognized qualification from outside Canada, then apply for express entry.
You work on the oil fields I assume ?

Well it will be fun to have you eat your words if he gets a visit visa to Canada.

Why are you so hard on the guy anyway?
Lol. Canada is not a banana republic. Me as a full fledge citizen, has a career job, owns his own home/car, etc applied to sponsor my cousin here through a special program. Even meeting the financial requirements, signing documents to support him financially, pay taxes on his behalf, and pay any medical coverage on his half his file got rejected. After taking the case to court and having a local mp support my case, his file is now open once again and it seems by god's grace he'll be here in 6 months or so.

This is after 2 years, thousands on lawyer fees, me sponsoring him as a citizen, etc. And you think some man will walk to the embassy, tell one fairy tale story about coming to do a 1 day exam in canada and they'll give him visa ? Abeg let him get a visa so I can sue the government. After he gets denied for lying they'll definitely give him a 10 or so bam for applying for a visa and keep his name in their system. He's better off not trying my friend.

Nobody plays that my destiny is different here scheme or "na god". Even if the man at the embassy wants to give him a visa he can't under the reason he wants to enter. There are rules and laws which must be followed. furthermore they will call the academic institution directly. Forget god, it will not work Simple.

You have to be convincing regarding the exam you want to go write. Convince yourself its key to improving yourself. Then you must convince the VO through the documents you must file.

Anyone can get a visa as long as you show enough proof of genuine intention to return after you have concluded your purpose for visiting and also, ability to incur cost.

NB: To work in Canada, you need a work visa.
Also, VOs are trained to identify people with ulterior intentions.

If you get a visit visa, don't violate the terms. Instead with careful planning, and time....you might end up getting PR. Remember, a larger % of Canadians today are immigrants who have naturalized. So, just observe the rules, plan and then go for it.
They will ask him to exit the embassy within 1 minute of hearing his insulting story. I even noticed his nonsense story and called him out on it, and I'm not even trained to catch nonsense stories like the people at the embassy. You are giving him false hope. Lastly not everyone can get a visa only a selective few. unfortunately he'll most likely never end up in canada realistically.

i am patiently awaiting your response.

Yes canada has a shortage of tradesmen like a Welder. You should apply as a skilled worker. If you get accepted go back to school and get your red seal. Red seal means you're qualified to work in canada, USA, or some places in Europe. Nobody acknowledges or respects nigerian qualifications here which makes sense.

Next time this woman should do her research. Why nigerians migrate to the UK over canada or America is beyond. If any of those two countries this boy would be a citizen. Either way the mother and boy will probably never step foot back in the UK. From a developed nation with a future to the hell hole called nigeria within 24 hours. Poor boy. Lol. .. Ok now you're insulting my intelligence. To begin with to work you'll need a work visa to work in canada. They will not just give you a TRV especially if you tell them about this fictacious security company who has interviewed you through the phone in naija (no Canadian company does that). Secondly before a Canadian company hires someone abroad they must prove the profession is in high demand and nobody who's eligible to work in canada wants to do the job. A security job is not in high demand and there are many canadians ready to do it. If not with America next door why would they recruit all the way in naija ?

To answer your question they will not give you a visa. Don't go to the Canadian embassy and insult yourself abeg. This is the only nonsense story you are able to come up with ?
