noblezone: I am not sure if you are referring to me. If you are not, apologies.truth is the word Biafra sounds like a cake walk! Its a pity that they went frm grace to grass. Pledging a loyalty to a defunct and non-existing entity is far worse. U can be rest assured that biafra is d most disintegrated entity in history. I will say it again, Buhari is d best candidate if we wnt 2 get rid of curruption and currupt officials. |
tosh_acer: Based on what?Based on my opinion, as I have written. U can say urs, u have the right to it |
THE FOLLoWING ARE ONLY IN MY OPINION: Since the return to civil rule in 1999, Nigeria have been engulfed in a wild range of curruption, but never have we witnessed a wide and wild range of curruption on a more lager scale as witnessed in the present administration. Here is a situation where the commander-in-chief claims he knows the people behind curruption, oil subsidy fraud, B/haram and the evil forces against Nigeria's developments but does nothing about it! All we hear is acusations and counter acusation, setting up committee after committee. Enter Buhari: On one hand is a man of Honour who have fought against curruption all his life. During his regime as Head of state, he was Nigeria's only leader that declared ''war against indiscipline and curruption. Like him or not, he had a vision. He never pointed acusing fingers on currupt officials as we see today, he simply brought them to book. He restored discipline and transparency into the civil service, unlike accusing civil servants of curruption as we all know they are, he used his powers as commander-in_chief to restore order. One popula opinion about the man is that he is anti-democratic, but I tell you, he was never given a fair ground to compete, in that senario, his opponents are actually the real enemies of democracy. Here is the man that surrendere his party(CPC) to form a more viable opposition and an alternative to Nigerians. Someone somewhere is working so hard to twart that effort! Who is now anti-democratic? Bring this man into power, within one month both oil subsidy frauad, curruption, insecurity, and indiscipline will be a long gone menace. If Nigerians can look beyong Tribalism and sentiments, religion and convictions.... We'll all see that Buhari is man to beat! Only a matter of time, he is a man who I wlii like to term ''the 4th time lucky'' if you know what I mean. Talk about humility, he will gladly step down if a better candidate emerge, but untill then, he is the best democracy have to offer. |
Castroii: its either u r a criminal or mayb I can pardon ur ignorance considering dt u wia born after d era of IBBU ar still among nairalanders who will nva quote or comment on a topic witout usin swelling words! Anyway wat I said is my opinion, and I knw I have the right to it. |

the_ripper3: Step Up or Step down, that's ur fcukking problem. One thing is certain, u aint going nowhere. Go lord over ur almajiri bloody thirsty brothers''U aint going nowhere is positive'' rephrase ur grammar guy.''Its u anit going anywhere'' Wat a gr8 leader Buhari is!! BREAKING NEWS!!! Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime Is Dead A heavy cloak of mourning falls on the nation once more today as news of Governor Sullivan Chime’s death filters in. A reliable source who confirmed his death to codewit.com said he gave up the ghost an hour ago in India. (9pm Nigerian Time) His Excellency, the late Governor Sullivan Chime had battled an undisclosed illness for months. When citizens began questioning his prolonged absence from Enugu, the official story was that he was on a long vacation accrued over a period of 5 years. Meanwhile, the latest information reaching us was that The PUNCH’s Enugu State correspondent, Ozioma Ubabukoh, was harassed by seven men who claimed to be security agents in front of his apartment in Enugu around 11.45pm on Saturday after the news was first reported. The men seized Ubabukoh’s phone and his laptop in order to stop him from sending stories to the head office. As at press time, the men were still in Ubabukoh’s apartment and insisted that they were not leaving until 3am. Efforts to get across to some commissioners in the state were not successful as their phones were switched off. More details will be updated. How can a youth go to school and suffered to graduate at the end no job. You are almost 40 and still your future is as bleak as a dark room. Did your parents send you to school to sit at home because our Government have failed us. Let us come out one day and say No. We must not remain like this, we cannot all travel abroad to find a better life, our better life is here in our country. We have the money, oil and resources but only a selected few have continue to suck it dry why we keep believing God for a change, wake up now I challenge you. Get Ready I tell you. The time has come for us to react, the only way our Government listens is violence, they have shown it to the Niger delta militantsand nowthey are planning to show it to the boko haram..whereas a simple gesture of N20,000 per monthto the unemployed was rejected and you pay militants N75,000 per month. How much do they pay as minimum wage? How much do they pay to elected officers, we are going to revolt. Some of our great leaders have expressed confidence in their party with regards to 2015. On one hand is the ruling PDP, and the other end is the impending opposition APC. With such impunity and authrity as if it is from the devine source, they have decleared victory respectively. Atimes I wonder if they are totally counting the electorate out, as if they don't matter. I as a citizen, i have really imagined a lot of senarios: what if come 2015 both mega parties lose the PRESIDENCY..... What if GEJ defect to a smaller Party and use the power of incubency to win the elections? What if Nigerians decide to vote in an entirely new player from non of the top parties? What if GEJ loses the PDP ticket? What if Alameseya wins PDP ticket? What if Buhari defect to PDP? What if Bola Tinubu withdraws from the merger? What if the elections did not hold atall? What if Nigeria did not make it to 2015? What the military takeover once again? .....................There is always a possibility! Who would have thaught that South-South would produce a president in Nigeria? Who would have taught OBJ will lose influence in PDP? Who would have taught Alameseya will be pardoned? Who would have taught ACN., CPC, ANPP...... Will merge? I like to say in politics anything can happen. There is always a possibily! Let's watch and see how it plays out, we will all get answers to our questions...........the game is just getting started, and we all have a part to play! |
By Tonnie Iredia The July 14, 2012 Governorship elections in Edo State, were reportedly overwhelmingly won by the incumbent Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. According to the election results, the Governor won in all the 18 Local Government Areas of the State. Some discerning minds that were described at that time as cynics were however unsettled because of reports of the role which money played in the process. Many members of the main opposition party-the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) allegedly sold out while the law enforcement agencies were said to have been overtly partisan. Even some politicians in the uniform of Chiefs reportedly assumed the role of canvassers on account of material benefits like Jeeps. Expectedly, everyone ignored the cynics because the results showed that the Governor defeated his opponents and their sponsors even in their own polling booths. When therefore, a local government election in the state was fixed for April 20, 2013, everyone expected the ruling party- the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to once again, use its incumbency and the acclaimed popularity of its Governor to trounce the opposition. Some analysts even introduced the symbolism of football into the issue by predicting that the election would take the form of a football match between Brazil, the acclaimed best football playing nation and one of the poorly rated countries. In other words, ACN was generally expected to trounce its opponents the way Brazil would humiliate a weak team by putting up a transparent superior performance that would make her record as many as 7gooals to nil. The world would however, be obviously and exceedingly shocked to hear that Brazil won the game just because the match officials –all of them- appointed by the Brazilian Football Association, arrived late to the pitch only to record more goals than were scored during the match which lasted far less than half the prescribed regulation time. This strange scenario appears to be what played itself out last week Saturday, when the ACN appointed election officials put on the toga of the infamous defunct Federal Electoral Commission (FEDECO). The latter was the nation’s electoral body which was disbanded 30 years ago, after it conducted the 1983 general elections which saw the ruling party- the National Party of Nigeria(NPN) winning more votes than were available as well as emerging victorious in centres were elections did not hold. From the testimony of Independent observers, materials for the Edo local election got to polling stations in Benin City-the state capital as well as the operational headquarters of the electoral body as late as between 4 and 5pm. Whereas the lateness warranted the postponement of elections in such polling stations, the electoral body was able to ‘conduct’ elections in other polling centres – some of them over 100 kilometres from the same Benin City! So many bizarre tales concerning the poor show donot deserve a recount here. Even if youths who ceaselessly protested many days after the event were sponsored to do so, we need to remember that in the last 5years, Edo citizens have been adequately schooled by their government on street protests. In addition, the contributory negligence of the election administrators justified the protests. The immediate issue before us now, is not in earnest, the suspected case of partisanship of the electoral body, but the proven case of its constructive inefficiency- a charge that would have similarly been sustained if the opposition party- the PDP that is now crying foul was the one in government. Of course, a PDP government would have also employed the Electoral Commission as a tool of election rigging. Indeed, there is no difference between the ACN and the PDP particularly in Edo State. As the Publicity Secretary of Edo PDP testified the other day on national television, majority of ACN members defected from the PDP obviously taking along with them, the rigging expertise they garnered from their old party The Edo State “Independent” Electoral Commission performed woefully and ought to be dissolved without further delay. This is necessary because unlike what happens in other climes where bodies which fail in their assignments resign, the edo electoral body will not of its own quit because it is not in the character of Nigerian public officials to so act. The Commission cannot even apologize for the lapses because they were deliberate. The pain in all of this for the citizenry is that once again, we are unable to conduct free and fair elections- a feature which has characterized every Nigerian election even before independence notwithstanding the encomiums being poured on the current Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Perhaps, political violence and the snatching of ballot boxes may have reduced but those are not enough to bestow free and fair elections on our nation. Nigeria needs to move with the times and adopt current best practices in election management. For instance, the conduct of an election ought not to be premised on faulty statistics. In 2010, INEC organized a voters’ registration exercise. Till date, those that were captured as prospective voters by its temperamental “DDC” machines are yet to be issued with proper voters’ cards. The Commission has also not been able to revise the register since then. Consequently, some registered voters who have since died are still listed in the register making it obvious that every election that has been held since then has been based on inaccurate figures. Similarly, many citizens who were unable to register in 2010 as well as those who have since attained the voting age after the 2010 exercise have been disenfranchised in every election held between then and now including the recent edo local elections. It is inappropriate to describe as successful, elections in which some persons who are qualified to participate are officially but inexplicably excluded. It is worse to condone elections marred by avoidable lapses like shortage of materials or late arrival of election personnel and materials to voting centres. In every Nigerian election, these vices partially manifest in one form or another of the FEDECO ghost. It was however, the full ghost of FEDECO that resurrected in Benin City, Edo State on Saturday, April 20, 2013. It is a shame. |
I which their could still be men of integrity in dis country, Abbati have sold out alredy. Wat we have now is mediocreS in de profession who can easily submit to brown envelope. Anyone dat does well is obviousely a target for politicians, once dey get dem on dia side, they will turn to colour commentators |
As a young undergraduate, I have always been facinated by the works of great journalists like Delegiwa, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Earnest Ikoli and the likes of those men. Later I became a huge fan of the once Great Reuben Abbati. As I continued in his reputation, I became passionate about becoming a journalist, I was taught about the ethics of the profession, how it has been termed the fourth estate of the realm. Reuben Abati, born November 7, 1965 in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, is Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria.[1] He was previously a newspaper columnist and the chairman of the editorial board of the Nigerian newspaper The Guardian from 2001 to 2011.[2] He was a first class honours graduate of Theater Arts from the University of Calabar where he won the Vice- Chancellor’s prize for the best overall graduating student. His column also appears regularly on the popular Nigerian website, Nigerian Village Square. Abati had his primary school education at St. John's Primary School, Igbein - Kuto, Abeokuta (1971-1976) He had his secondary school education at Lisabi Grammar School, Idi - Aba, Abeokuta (1976-1981) He won a number of awards including The Cecil King Memorial Prize for Print Journalist of the Year in 1998, The Diamond Award for Media Excellence for Informed Commentary in 1998, Fletcher Challenge Commonwealth Prize for Opinion Writing in 2000, and the Diamond Award for Media Excellence for Informed Commentary, 2000. That was the kind of man I know, his high professional standard, and everything a journalist should be. Unfortunately, instead of continueing in what he does best, he is now a puppet to the government of the day, his views have been coloured by the highest subjectivity standard, instead of informing, he is now a propagandist who will stop at nothing but paint his pay masters as untouchable and right all the time. Most of the time, he is now the mouthpiece of GEJ, when it comes to defending some highly questionable decisions in his administeration. That's not how a journalist should be. I will like to say that he have derailed from the man he is bcause of material gain and power. Posterity will not remember him, he has betrayed the profession and he is nothing but a failed journalist. He is a disgrace to some young guyz out there who wants to make a difference in this country. |

Big Show & Mark Henry def. Randy Orton & Sheamus Earlier in the night, after experiencing two separate assaults from Mark Henry, The Celtic Warrior struck back with a powerful attack of retribution on The World’s Strongest Man during his target’s interview with Renee Young. Don't miss photos as four former World Champion clash! | Watch The Viper's colossal RKOs This only added to the fireworks in the final moments of SmackDown’s explosive tag team main event. When Randy Orton looked ready to finish off a reeling Big Show with the RKO, Mark Henry slammed into The Viper from out of nowhere. This brought Sheamus into the action, nailing The World’s Strongest Man with such force that it knocked both Superstars out of the ring. As Sheamus and Henry hit the floor, The World’s Largest Athlete seized the opportunity, hitting a still- reeling Orton with the chokeslam for the giant win. |
The Great Khali, Hornswoggle & Natalya def. Epico, Primo & Rosa Mendes When Primo, Epico and Rosa Mendes stole a parking lot spot away from The Great Khali, Natalya and Hornswoggle, the fired-up competitors decided to settle their dispute in a Six-Person Mixed Tag Team Match. Punjabi victory photos | Brace yourself for brutal parking lots brawls And in the match’s final moments — after an angry Rosa made the mistake of pursuing ’Swoggle outside the ring and suffered a fierce Natalya clothesline as a result — Khali caught Epico off the rope and delivered the Punjabi Plunge for the huge triumph. |
The Shield claimed The Undertaker is “afraid” of them From an undisclosed location, the “Hounds of Justice” twisted the knife about their brutal Raw assault of WWE Champion John Cena four days earlier — before turning their attention to their imminent clash with the reunited Brothers of Destruction and Daniel Bryan this Monday, as Raw broadcasts from the United Kingdom. |
Alberto Del Rio def. Jack Swagger In the climatic final moments of an extremely personal back-and-forth WrestleMania Rematch between the duel-No. 1 contenders to Dolph Ziggler’s World Heavyweight Title, Alberto Del Rio countered Jack Swagger’s Patriot Lock to cinch in the Cross Armbreaker. But, the action would not end there. Photos of a fierce showdown for Extreme Rules momentum To the amazement of all, the “Real American” used every bit of his strength to transform that painful finishing maneuver into an impressive pin attempt. And while he nearly picked up the three-count for his trouble, he could stop the Mexican Superstar from answering back with a small package for the heroic win in an incredible showdown! Big Show added to the Booker T Administration’s growing internal problems The World’s Largest Athlete increased the apparent fraction between SmackDown General Manager Booker T and his Senior Adviser Theodore Long — sticking it to the five-time WCW Champion in the process. View Comments |
Kofi Kingston def. Wade Barrett In a rare Champion vs. Champion showdown, newly crowned United States Champion Kofi Kingston triumphed over his longstanding adversary, Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett. Champion vs. Champion photos Although The Barrett Barrage drove “The Wildcat” into the mat with brutal force in the match’s final moments, the resilient Kingston still possessed enough presence-of-mind to counter The Bare- Knuckled Brawler’s pin attempt to score a quick three-count.

SmackDown Results: Big Show & Henry scored a gigantic victory; The Shield taunted The Undertaker Fandango def. Santino Marella KNOXVILLE, Tenn.— As The World’s Largest Athlete and The World’s Strongest Man collided with Randy Orton and Sheamus in SmackDown’s tag team main event, “The Hounds of Justice” poked a stick at The Phenom and duel No. 1 contenders to the World Heavyweight Title went head-to-head in an epic WrestleMania Rematch. Fandango opened SmackDown, initiating an impromptu dance with the lovely Lilian Garcia, before dropping the ring announcer to the canvas and belittling both her and the WWE Universe. Photos of Fandango dancing with Lilian and Santino | Superstars talk Fandangoing The Superstar that upset Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 29 then went on to question whether Lilian could even say his name correctly. Luckily, pronunciation extraordinaire Santino Marella was on hand to take up the challenge. After doing his own hilarious rendition of “Fandangoing” — with the Cobra as a dance partner — Santino evaded Fandango furious charge, pulling down the top rope and sending the nimble aggressor to the ringside floor. The quick moves of the two-time Intercontinental Champion proved insufficient once the bell rang, however, as Fandango ultimately blocked his Cobra strike to plant The Milan Miracle into the canvas for another huge win. Another likely title match for the pay-per-view will be two members of The Shield vs. Kane and Daniel Bryan for the WWE Tag Team Titles. This is likely where Team Hell No will drop the titles.
