WHAT IS CATTLE COLONY?

The idea behind the Cattle Colonies is to cater for the needs of cattle herders in terms of availability of resources to take care of their cattle while avoiding unnecessary clashes and tussles over economic resources such as land and water between them and farmers.

Cattle colonies are expected to be large expanses of land procured by the Federal Government, in collaboration with States (already 16 States have indicated interest in this), where water, grass and security would be provided to cattle herders who would in turn pay for rent and other services provided by the Government.


DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CATTLE COLONY AMD RANCHING

1. A Cattle Colony is bigger in size than a Ranch, and caters for more cattle. A cattle colony can cater for as many as 40 ranchers.
2. While a ranch is provided for by the Herders, a Colony is provided for by the Government who collect rent from the herders to use these facilities. The reason for this is that ranching is a Capital intensive venture and cannot be embarked on by rural subsistent low earning herders, if ranching were to be made compulsory, it would be hard for rural herdsmen to comply with it.
3. In Cattle Colonies the Federal Government collaborates with the States to provide these lands (note that lands, by virtue of the Land Use Act are vested in the Governors of the State), water and security, while in ranches the herders have to provide this for themselves.

BENEFITS OF HAVING CATTLE COLONIES


1. Safety of lives and property and a drastic reduction in farmers and herders clashes
2. Cattle produce healthier beef when they are kept in colonies, and also produce more milk
3. Farmers do not have to worry about the safety of their crops and thus more production is ensured for the farmers, which means more economic activity in the agriculture sector
4. Cattle colonies would put a stop to cattle being rustled by thieves and terrorists
5. It would become easier to identify criminals who either masquerade as herdsmen or are herdsmen who commit murderous crimes and destruction.

Just when we thought God has answered our prayers, we received the catastrophic news from her this morning.

Her husband who base in Tel Aviv, Israel has been processing her visa since 2015, they've tried different agents and it didn't work out, even tried going with the pilgrimage. All failed.. Their money is still With those agents.

Fortunately, they tried another agent in Lagos and it worked out. to cut the story short, she took off for Israel yesterday at about 2pm, arrived Ethiopia at around 7pm yesterday.. And called to inform us. We were all filled With joy. They took off from Ethiopia at about 2hr from that time and arrived Israel around past 2am this morning.

Unfortunately, we got the shocker from her that some of them weren't given exit card and will be deported With the next available flight cos their data page didn't get to Israel.

Today is saturday and the agent number isn't reachable.

Mum, dad and my siblings have been in a bad mood since we received the news. Her husband has been calling to cheer us up.

1. AMCON bought over the bad debt from Union bank long before your most hated Buhari came to power. AMCON normally sets a deadline for the loan defaulter to pay up and the deadline was set long before your hated Buhari came to power. The deadline just expired and Ben Bruce himself isn't lamenting foul play, only emotionally confused dull supporters are. Once again, get it into your skull that the issue between Ben Bruce vs Union Bank/AMCON has absolutely nothing to do with Buhari or APC.

2. All major businesses worldwide survive on loans and even a child knows that, Dangote even recently secured a massive loan of up to $10billion to set up one of the world's biggest refineries. Even an infant knows that collecting a loan isn't a problem, but defaulting in loan repayment is not accepted anywhere in the world (except in the confused world of emotionally sentimental wrecks).

As you rightly said, every serious government must step in to prevent private businesses (especially the ones employing a lot of people like this) from going down; that was the reason the government set up AMCON in the first place to buy off bad loans that were about to crash several banks and also crash the business. Buying off those bad loans gave the business owners more time to sort out the repayment of their loans. I doubt the common man like you and me can ever get that gentle treatment.

And finally, AMCON is taking possession of the business does not mean the business is being shutdown by government or AMCON; if there were 1000 persons working in that organisation, the 1000 people still get to keep their jobs because the business is still very much functional. Apparently this is the simple bit of info which your sentimental mind is incapable of assimilating.
