This alleged letter is a fraud. The use and command of english as seen in this so-called letter can never come from our learned and highly respected activist. I reject it.

sodconfirm:
We live in the same estate and i have watched their fight LIVE twice, The man gave them the house on rental basis we all knew in 2006 when they came here that they were only tenants. It is quite funny and unbelievable that this new story of buying the house is now believed and accepted by Nigerians. They want to cheat the man because they are stars and now they discover they don't have enough documents to back it up and the landlord proves stronger they now have to surrender, Okoyes tried to cheat and did not work for them !, SIMPLY THE TRUTH.
An eye-witness's report. Who do we now believe? But the question one nairalander asked earlier still remain relevant: and that is, do people still commit that much on mere verbal agreement?

FamilyRe: Why Are Wives Often Blamed For Their Husbands' Failures? by McDoe(m): 2:57pm On Oct 09, 2009
Shinatu:
How many families celebrate the wife when the husband is successful in Nigeria? Is that not the time for the husband to run  after all the sophisticated ladies in town with the inlaws telling the wife to relax and take care of her children.
They are quick to remind you how their brother suffered for the money and why he should be left alone to enjoy the fruit of his labour.

Even if you are a major contributor to the man's success, they fail to accept it and start reminding their son that it is God that lifts up a man, trying to play down any role you might have played.
It is not in all cases. I have seen families which had recognized the contributions of the wives for the sucesses of such families.
PoliticsRe: Akala Creates Lucrative Jobs For Oyo Graduates by McDoe(m): 2:49pm On Oct 09, 2009
Sagamite:
I don't think you get the point.

It is the lack of ingenuity demonstrated by this slowpoke despite sitting in the midst of an avalanche of possibilities andopportunities.

The slowpoke is visionless, incompetent and illiterate (you can rearrange all 3 in any order you wish). The 3 are the ingredients of him coming up with such initiatives that is too poor to applaud.

His mindset is too basic, underdeveloped and backward.

Don't be surprised if his next big project is to provide loans to females to go to Dubai and buy gold or go to India to buy bleaching cream for sale in Nigeria.
Don't forget the prevailing global situation of unemployment. Outright condemnation of the program will not serve any meaningful purpose. The reality is too bare to ignore. What I think we should concern ourselves with is how to introduce some level of innovation into the scheme and make it workable and attractive to those buying-in into it. Afterall, most of the BRT buses' drivers acquired higher certificates.
PoliticsRe: Akala Creates Lucrative Jobs For Oyo Graduates by McDoe(m): 2:38pm On Oct 09, 2009
Sholeyb:
Personally, whilst this is not the most ideal situation, I believe it is better than having no job at all. I do not have the overall picture and facts of the matter, however I live in the UK and there are graduates doing all sorts of menial jobs, although I concede they are doing it grudgingly.

Look at it this way, if they get this taxi job and save most of their income, in a few years they may be able to start a business in their 'read' field, leaving behind taxi driving. Like the graduates abroad, they save the money they make abroad and when they return to Naija, they use this money to establish themselves.

Another point is that there is honour in labour, no matter which kind. It is more honourable than looting Nigeria’s coffers, like our so called 'leaders' do. Another point is that a graduate who drives a taxi will more than likely treat their passengers with more respect, this may change the taxi industry in that state for better, to the surprise and benefit of everyone.

It may be an unpleasant situation now, but this is an opportunity for the future.

However what I do not agree with is selling some useless form to them for £1700 and not even trying to create jobs that correlate to their level of literacy, he must go further and create jobs befitting of graduates.
A like-mind.

PoliticsRe: Akala Creates Lucrative Jobs For Oyo Graduates by McDoe(m): 12:55pm On Oct 09, 2009
If you have tasted unemployment, you would say the move is better than nothing. Don't forget that every job in this country except very few, are slave jobs. I watched the other day on tv how young lawyers were complaining of the poor pay the receive from their bosses which ranges from N15,000-N25,000. Good job in name but no fulfilment and no good money. How do we see this? If we can ride cabs in abroad and be respected and make good money, then it behoves that we change our attitude/orientation and accord every job the respect and pay it deserves. what is important is how to keep body and soul together.

mchenry:
The nobel peace prize has become a popularity contest.
He deserves it. The Norwegian Nobel Committee considered his efforts and involvement to strenghten international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. Remember, the initiator(s) of the prize stipulated that the peace price should go to " the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations and the abolition or reduction of standing armies and the formation and spreading of peace congresses'. This criteria has been surpassed by Obama via his avowed troops withdrawal; reaching out to the moslem world and telling the whole world that no single nation including the USA has monopoly of power and knowledge.
Congrats, Uncle Obama!

Yes very easy for the a/c to be frozened by Paypal and the money gone then nobody will see your bogus face again. Simply, Nigerian living in Nigeria can't not legally open Paypal a/c for now(thanks to scammers.419ners.yahoo yahoo boys/girls), if done illegally then Paypal will blocked it and your money gone.
Be wise just like 'justwise' .

Since you seems to have all the facts, why not go ahead and lodge a complain with the ministry of consumers or business cop in Nigeria?
I will like to start something for real, but the licencing fee alone is crazy.
I think they are all partners in deceit because even the so-called Consumer Protection Agency is not helping matters. The press cannot be exonerated either.

badboy:
I can personally confirm some of these promos are fake. About 3 years ago, when I was in the bank ,I had a colleague who told me he was going to win the 'Discussion Continues' for one of the Glo promos then and he did win! After the scammed presentation in Kano,he was then put under serious pressure (by his 'link' I presume ) to sell the car and remit funds. I actually helped him get a buyer practically at a giveaway price. He then told me he was organising for his sister to win a trip to London, which was one of the prizes being advetised then. Dont know if she got this,as he was transferred to Lagos from Kaduna at about same time. The more you see,the less you understand.
I wonder my brother. Can't understand; glo has been bombarding me with encouraging sms to part with every credit that I load on my phone.

I agree with McDoe, allegations should not be enough to put you in shackles, there should be enough evidence to put u in jail (temp or perm). The only thing is that this bill/law should extend to all Nigerians regardless of your class or who your father is.
That is my guy!
