PiccoloBrunelli:who told you it is anxiety he meant? When did nairaland monikers compulsorily turn English words? |
It beats me as to why most Nigerians don't believe the boko haram is real or that our military is making progress towards the annihilation of those bastards. the elections are over and Buhari is in-charge. Let's stop all this rubbish already and give credit to those men who gave their today for our tomorrow. Lives are being lost on daily basis and our gallant soldiers are being made to pay the supreme price and all we do is stand behind a china phone on bonus data and type rubbish. E dey pain me o. Meanwhile, God bless our gallant men. Long may they live. More bullets to their guns. |
I am having a hard time coming up with a title for this post, but let the above suffice. I know it hurts feeling betrayed or shortchanged, sometimes it makes one map out a particular angle on the "aggressor's" body and imagining how well a dagger or bullet would fit through, but men, save the bullet; that person you would rather have dead could be a saviour tomorrow. I have instances where I nearly wrote people off for a perceived wrong, but coincidentally, those same people became instrumental to overcoming some difficult circumstances and looking back, I get to realize that those "unfortunate times" they supposedly hurt me to earn their death warrants actually set us up for the more palatable circumstances where they became the knights. Had I "terminated" them, I just probably wouldn't have gotten a chance at redemption which obviously could have come from them alone. I have various instances to give, but since this is motivated by my daughter's birthday, I will cite one that relates to her birth. When my girlfriend got pregnant years back, we moved in to a new area and in my bid to make life a little more comfortable, I brought along a generating set I had acquired but left with the previous owner because I didn't have much need for it. I was a complete novice in the maintenance of the machine and as such all I knew was the turning off and on of the engine. Eventually the engine refused to come up someday and I searched the neighborhood for an engineer and got a recommendation of this guy, Fineboy. He came with me and saw it but insisted I bring it along to his home as he doesn't work outside his workshop and I obliged him. This guy took his time to dismantle the whole machine creating the impression that he was doing a very big work, wasting my whole day and his actually, only to change the engine oil at last. parting with my hard earned money was quite painful as I could have as well bought the oil and put in the engine myself. I vowed never to give him any job to do again, not knowing that that was the price I had to pay for the future. Fast forward to May of the same year, my baby was due any moment from then and being that the hospital where her mum attended ante-Natal clinic was a bit far from home, I made plans with taxi men to be on the alert should I call them. So while I was away one of those nights hustling, I got a call from my sweetie that she thinks she is due, I had to hurry home. She was strong and quite impressive with the signs from the onset. Yes, very impressive for a first-time pregnancy but she was also headstrong. I wanted us to rush to the hospital already while it was still light but she said we should wait till the contraptions increase (or something like that). We kept a sleepless night and then she told me we must go. I ran about looking for a means of conveying her to the hospital, went to the taxi man who had earlier told me all I needed to do was call him when I need him, banged on his door, called his phone and could hear it ring without him picking up, my world was crumbling and I didn't know what to do, I couldn't handle any complications as I already had a long standing battle with the lady's family. Hope was nearly lost as they kept calling me on phone to know what was keeping me. At that moment I cursed and wished she wasn't that stubborn to not have agreed to our leaving earlier, then a beam of hope as I remembered my friend, Fineboy. He had a bike so I ran to his place and asked that he helps me take her to the hospital. His no was emphatic and I nearly broke down in tears before he added that it was risky to carry a woman in labour on a bike, but that was the least of my problem, I could damn the consequence as all I needed to do was get to the hospital no matter how. He took me to a neighbour of his who owns a car and pleaded with him to take us there. It was a great sacrifice as he had a visitor and it was late in the night and I was a complete stranger. We got there in the comfort of a car, at a daisy moment free of charge as I was actually going to plead with the taxi man to take me there on credit. To crown it all, Fineboy and his friend visited days later with cash gift worth more than I spent fixing the generator with him. Moral: If the generator hadn't broken down when it did for me to meet and get acquainted with Fineboy, it would have been a different story. If I had told him off for "cheating" me, I wouldn't have gotten the opportunity to go to him for help. So whatever happens no matter how unfortunate, take it as a currency for future dealings, never regret so much or wish someone else evil for a perceived wrong. An enemy today might me the most useful friend tomorrow. Happy Birthday to my Princess, Miracle. |

MessedUp:when faced with difficulties, one is presented with two choices; to hand in the glove or keep up the fight, knowing he isn't strong enough but yet determined to fight through. When one is engrossed in self love and/or chooses to compare his or her life with others whose lives are supposedly better than one's own life, the end result is often suicidal and depression. I have taken out time to read some grass to Grace stories, and no matter how cruel I perceive life to be, I live through it. There are many poeple who like I, have vowed to wade through it and they are the brave amongst us, while others chose the fool's way out. |
This is daisy, but believe it or not things may never be set to perfection again. The Great Zik in cases like this would say "a broken bottlle has no mmekwatarism" |
if she was going to take all the time making up and coming, then she should have had an earlier start. |

amp01:if you read well, you'd note my inferences are from informal lenders which are more flexible than the so-called micro finance banks. too many people hardly can access loan from the banks. |
Dotmax53:you are welcome |
I may not be a Warren Buffet or the likes but this is my honest view from the little may inconsequential business experience. Starting and running a business with the hope of growth and expansion may be the next sweetest feeling on earth. As a matter of fact, most beginners see themselves making a billion in less than a year from a fifty thousand Naira investment, this excitement more often than not pushes one into taking risks and signing pacts without crossing the Ts. We find it safe to assume that money at hand is the only hindrance to more money. Each loan has it terms, and most businesses require that some amount of money be retained in it once started to maintain growth. Unless you are already a Dangote who can afford to default and not suffer losses by way of incarceration and confiscation, don't take that loan. REASONS: 1. Like stated earlier, if you invest 50,000 in a business, to power that business to growth, you may need to have at least fifty thousand naira at all times to do so. with most loans you make remittances, sometimes way above your income as a start-up and before long you discover you just collected the money to make them richer. Ever wondered why some small businesses fail? 2. Interest rates are killing: In the absence of formal structures to lend to budding entrepreneurs, the informal sector has this cut-throat Shylock like system that would kill your dream. I will tell you my personal experience. I had this noble idea I was certain would give me money and was all out to invest, but cash was a challenge. Personally, I am the type that would hardly beg or depend on someone, so instead I broached the idea to a friend to see if he knows how I could access a loan from the informal sector with the bank not being an option, so he introduced me to one and the way it was painted, the only factor that stopped me from getting it instantly was a guarantor which I sufficed wouldn't be a problem. According to him, I was to make a daily return of forty naira per 5000, it sounded cool until I did the maths and discovered I was supposed to return a total of twelve thousand naira in 30 days if I go for a 50,000 naira loan and about 24,000 for a 100,000 naira loan. and this is only in interest as it does not in any way mean I have paid part of the loan and I would have to keep paying same until the loan is separately paid for to the last kobo. Check it out friend, I would have to make a 100 bulks a week in profit to be able to bay that much in interest and still remain in business, itherwise you all will have to pay me a visit in detention as those guys don't smile with their money. 3. You need peace of mind. Starting a business is not a cakewalk, to remain in business, you need to be in a perfect state mentally, taking a loan will deny you just that. When you take a loan, it automatically means someone has paid for your peace of mind and can use it at will especially if you are someone like me who'd be worried about my inability to keep to terms. Believe me, you don't need that as a beginner. Alternatives: 1.Getting Your Relatives To Help out. This is very difficult especially in these times when people would rather have you wash their cars for a plate of porridge and a carton of alcohol but will hardly give you 200 naira to transport yourself to a job interview. but if you successfully get a little cash from relatives invest with it, and grow from there. 2. Get a Partner Don't be selfish, get someone as passionate as you are in the line of business and merge resources. However a concrete arrangement should be reached regarding roles and benefits. 3. Sell off Luxury Items Sell of those gadgets you don't need, they can always be replaced when your business booms. Besides technology keeps evolving, meaning you can get even more sophisticated ones when you hammer. #My2naira Comments and criticisms are most welcome as we are all learners. |
