Dr. Oby Ezekwesili

A former Vice President of the World Bank African Region and social crusader, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili on Saturday observed that the current economic policies of President Muhammadu Buhari are similar to ones he promulgated during his first coming as Head of State in the 1980s.
The ex-Minister of Education, who spoke on Saturday at The Platform, a yearly public policy forum currently holding in Abuja, averred that the present economic policies of the Federal Government are “opaque and archaic”.
Noting that the present economic direction of the country encourages massive corruption and abuse of power, she declared that the policies are hurting poor Nigerians who they are intended to help.
According to her, “During the first coming of this our new president, a command and control economic system was adopted.
“During that era, inflation spiralled. During that era, jobs were lost. During that era, the economic growth level dipped.
“That era wasn’t the best of eras in economic progress.
“What did not work in 1984 cannot possibly be a solution in a global economy that’s much more integrated?” she asked.
The BringBackOurGirls champion accused the President of rehashing the same “command and control” approach towards economic issues, this she claimed has left the nation’s economy in a bad state one year after his assumption of office.
According to her, “In over one year, the president is still holding to the premise that command and control is the only way out.
“In a year we have lost the single digits inflation status we maintained in past administrations.
While calling on the President and his team to consider the effect of their policies on the nation, the former Minister said: “The President should sit with his team and look at the economic evidence that speaks loudly. It’s time to sit back and review the well-intended idea of command and control economic principle.
“He should do what the Americans say that if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it,” she declared

hmmmm....you right.....cox i read it were it was said that the french revolution of 1789 had great impact in europe, i guess this is one of it.

have always wondered y the queen still existed if the french revolution was to eradicate monarchy.

The French revolution was in France and it influenced the course of events in many parts of the world United state of America inclusive at least the writings of Montesquieu a French scholar of the revolution era on separation of power influenced the development of US Democracy but not much on Britain. the decline of the Monarchs power in England started with the signing of the Magna Carta by king John in 1215 and later by the Glorious revolution and the English civil war which led to the killing of king Charles 1in 1648/1649. the French revolution was in 1780s like u said so their powers have even started declining before 100 yrs before then.

because she does not have actual powers like most of her predecessors, today the Queen cannot take serious political decisions as in the good old days. after the glorious revolution their powers started declining with the people & the members of the house of common cutting down the throne political powers & transferring it either to the prime minister or to the House of common (I.e democratization of what use to be her powers) leaving her with little actual or no political powers. But she can still influence any matter of politics to a great extent where she have vested interest but that is where it stops INFLUENCE. Anybody with a fair knowledge of what their power use to be will know that it has really depreciated to nothing.

If I must pick one, then it must be the DSS.

The rest are all the same.

it depends on the nature of their assignment as a force. the DSS is not the most equipped. they use Tabor 21 which is good for CQC close quarter combat operations but not as effective in full scale assault and combat that is where AK47 still outrank any small Arm and light weapon in both precision, reliability and ruggedity. i think d only advantage SSS regular issue i.e (Tavor) may have over AK47 which NA regular issue is night vision. but in terms of others like damage, distance, ease of use, general maintenance etc give it up to d AK47. Also u cannot compare the Navy heavy Guns to DSS regular issues. that is why the op should be specific in the post.

This shows how degenerated our system of education is; this is arrant nonsense and obviously shows that the tutor is poorly learned. Political science or not, these questions are poorly constructed. Those that had opportunity to study oversee would understand that the question constructions are emphatically wrong. But what do you expect from an academic system that still uses books of 1st or 2nd edition category while the current text is in its 9th edition. What do you also expect from a professor that has never engaged in a proper academic research but keep dishing out textbooks that are full of plagiarism and outdated theories. Hmm my dear friend u don't know the man u are talking about. I was his research assistant as an undergraduate student. The man is an astute scholar and a serious Christian & humble as well also very approachable except if u are sseing him from a distance. he is just like that with grammar he has multiples of international publications to his credit & his writings are not packed with big grammer like his exams.
