My brother I concur with you. Religion is a curse on us. There shouldn't have been one in the first instance
Religion have done more harm than good. I personally advocate spirituality over religion. Human beings make a mess of every revelation or new help from G*O*D they immediately turn it to religious practice & before long drag it down to the depth

still beat my imagination how our system kept recycling the same set of people as leaders while there are other young vibrant, educated, experienced & well travelled youths in the four cardinal points of the political geoclassification called Nigeria. instead of the new bloods the old gerontocrats will sift them out & use their control of the major political parties & control of the means of production which capitalism have enthroned to continually perpetuate themselves in power. Not that I hate Buhari but Nigeria need new bloods, new brains, new idea & of course new faces. away with all these old timers with their old methods. They don't even think out of the box. 1960 till date Nigeria foreign policy have not even taken a new outlook. Nigeria Nawao

man inhumanity to man. Before the Almighty there is nothing like Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba, before the father of creation there are only human beings, before the eternally unchangeable one law stands highest LOVE. I keep thinking what make human beings think that they are going to enter heaven/Paradise one day as Igbo, Yorubas or Hausa/Fulanis or even with national flags and emblem. Whether u are a Christian,Muslim, Hinduist, Ogboni, Lodge or any Esoteric Order out there tell me which of your practice encourages u to kill nay Murder another human being who doesn't pose a threat to your life. Just because u have a piece of stick & metal called rifle doesn't make u a taker if lifes. know this everyone of u like dismiss my post with your ethnic sentiments we all stand eternally in the justice of the all pervading power of creation, and as a result every good, every evil must return to the originator. if not here then over there in the beyond. Love, only love that is the heart of a genius.

A summary will not fully capture the essence of this powerful speech. If you can't sit down and read, the message is clearly not meant for you.
U know am not surprise that this powerful speech did not attract readership from the thousands of nairalanders. Also u don't need to be surprise because 90% of nairalanders will not read that speech beyond the 10th line, not because they cannot read, far from that most of them can finish all those romance novels that are of considerable volume or any gross topic that satisfy their superficiality. On The question of y this topic did not make the FP, the answer also stands out clearly "The MODs did not read beyond that same 10th line" reason being that the story is not one that will indulge the youths peripheral outlook to life and indulge their sensual orgies. Through Marie Corelis' work "Sorrows of Satan" for the first time i came to understand why reasonably good literary works dont see the light of the day. I am a youth & I live here in Nigeria so I know what I am talking about. Its not inability to read its misplacement of value, its not inability to read long essays it is inability to choose the right thing to read.

mannobi:
Ugo Chikieze wrote :

THE BAYELSA ELECTION, A LESSON FOR THE IGBOS:
I have been following events in the Bayelsa state since Saturday and I think it's high time we Igbos woke up and learn our lessons. What is happening in Bayelsa state shows that the Bayelsans have moved on. They are no longer tied to the apron of PDP and GEJ. That state is one of the smallest states in the country and it's the home state of the former president (GEJ), yet the result of the election held since Saturday have not been announced officially till now. I thought the PDP would have swept off the whole votes just like they did during the presidential election, but to my amazement the APC is also gathering considerable votes there. I know PDP may eventually emerge winner in the election, but my point is that we Igbos should wake up and stop crying more than the bereaved cos even the bereaved have moved on.
Other regions have moved on and have even started integrating themselves into this PMB administration to ensure they remain relevant and not schemed out if things, while some of my people are still holding themselves down and throwing hate speeches here and there.
Other region are already preparing for 2019, some are already gearing up for 2023, while my people have failed to arise and shake off GEJ and his failed administration. By 2019 now, we will begin to run helter-skelter and start last minute preparation and when we loose again, we will say we are hated by others but we forget that we are the ones holding ourselves down now that others are already preparing ahead.
The Igbos have enjoyed more "juicy" appointments in the past 16 years of this democratic dispensation, yet none of the appointees or elected officials performed exceptional well for us to present him/her as presidential candidate. But look at the likes of Fashola, Fayemi, Kwakwanso, El Rufai, etc they are all potential presidential candidates going forward cos their achievements speak for them. Tell me the achievements of. Orji Uzor Kalu, T.A Orji, Sam Egwu, Chimaroke Nnamani, Mbadinuju, etc.... none of them made a mark in their various states, yet we leave them and keep pointing fingers to other regions and saying they are our problem.
I advise we wake up and begin to align ourselves strategically with other region now cos we can never produce a president in this country if we continue like this.
While some misguided elements are busy shouting Biafra, and claiming that South south is part of their Biafra, the southsouth have denounced the whole Biafra thing publicly and I understand that just last weekend, Nyesom Wike of River State, named a stadium in River State after Yakubu Gowon. Does that not tell you somethinghuh?
The golden rule says 'DO UNTO OTHERS WHAT YOU WILL LIKE THEM TO DO UNTO YOU'..... Love begat love, hate begat hate. Don't expect love from others when you give them hatred, don't expect them to vote for your candidate when you keep calling them animals that live in the zoo.
"Give and it shall be given unto you" whatever you give to others is what they will give back to you GOOD MEASURES, PRESSED DOWN, SHAKING TOGETHER AND RUNNING OVER.
He who has ears let him hear, Wisdom is profitable to direct.... I rest my case...
@ poster no matter how u present your post to appear patriotic I find it packed with ethnic sentiments and illogical and thus very unsound on the following grounds
1. There is no correlation between the Igbo nation and the bayelsa election and so the title of this your thread is not only inappropriate but also lack merit even in the literal sense.
2. it will be rushing into hasty judgement to conclude that the APC is amassing considerable vote when u yourself have admitted that the result have not been fully announced. So we don't even know what percentage of the vote that is considerable by your standard. Moreover any attentive observer of Nigerian politics knows that the Bayelsa pool will be a stiff contest considering that it is the immediate past president state PDP and that the ruling APC candidate there is a one time Governor with his own supporters too that have benefited from him in the past.
3. Everybody or region cannot just queue up behind the ruling party. Never, opposition and constructive criticism is the beauty of democracy. u are expounding a very dangerous principle by encouraging everybody to align with APC. Western democracy is an example where u can find people that have been Conservatives or Republicans, Democrats for the past 50 years. The Thatchers and Bushes and Kennedy's of Britain and U S are there for u to read about.
4. Presidential race should be a case of character of the persons and what they can do not of regions or Igbo vs yoruba or Hausa thing. it is wrong to think that everybody that disagree with the policies of the present regime is GEJ apologist, very wrong.
5. Give me your statistics to prove that. Igbos are the highest beneficiaries of the past 16 years of Nigerian democracy. Don't limit presidential candidacy to those that have been in power before. Tony Elumelu, Charles Soludo, even present Governor of Anambra, Obiano and Ngige are still all there with good records
6.Its not all Igbo that support IPOB moreover if after 45years of civil war a group still agitate for self government the onus lies on the government of the day to use diplomacy and tact to address such uprisings not to resolve to use of naked force.
7.A stadium named after Gowon, well that's good i respect the old man but what is the symbolism but why not after Ken Saro wiwa and other Ogoni nine.
8. The sentiments that packed your post defeat all the good preaching preaching in your conclusion
9.Thank you

My brother set your own standard. That people have descended to the level of using profanous words over more descent expressions shouldn't drag u down to their level. I will not support any idea of calling names to persons in authority or even as its common on nairaland when ethnic sentiments is whipped up. Why try to hide the news?
Fellow nairalander there is nothing CLASSIFIED about soldiers dieing in combat, I don't see how it can work against the operational capacity of the armed forces or how it can be used against them(that is why matters are classified) except that Politicians play politics with everything. We are at war in the NE for goodness sake They died honourably the present govt hide or streamline news a lot its not good for democracy in my opinion it is a Totalitarian tendency. we should be able to say the truth objectively...the price of rule of law is perpetual vigilance.

Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai says the stress of seeking ways of creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in Kaduna state has left him tired after just 5 months of assuming office. El Rufai said this while speaking at the just-concluded Ake Arts and Book Festival which held in Abeokuta, Ogun State November 17-21.

“As a state governor the challenge for me is what to do to create jobs in Kaduna State. Eighty-two per cent of the eight million people in Kaduna State are below the age of 35.
My challenge is not whether population grows next year or the year after. It is to get jobs for this young people, otherwise no one will sleep in peace. Frankly speaking, five months as governor, I am already tired. I honestly do not think that anyone who wants to do this job seriously can do it for more than four years and not burn out. When I look at some of my colleagues, some are putting on weight, they are looking nice, I ask them, ‘how do you do it?”he said

http://www.metronaija.com/2015/11/5-months-as-governor-i-am-already-tired.html
The most honest truth I have heard from a serving public officer in the present dispensation. If u truly put all your strength in the work u will see how your energy will burn out if u do not get continuous connection from the light

You talk like a kid.

In the military shooting down an enemy aircarft/satellite/helicopter is equal to declaration of war. The fact now is that this said plane was downed in Syria. It crashed in Syria not Turkey.

NATO is currently drafting a response because it is a very serious issue.

Russia has called security meeting and called it a very serious "incident"

A pilot is reported dead and the other captured.

Just to lecture you NATO though big is not a country and need parliamentary approval from member nations. It will be most difficult to sell a war with Russia to people of Europe who largely support Russian war on ISIS. This aircraft was in comabt mission againt alnusura ( alqueda in Syria), did not shoot at Turkey. Now Turkey destroyed the aircarft and "killed" a pilot.

Violation of airsapce happen all the time. Turkey violated Grecce airpace twice last month. You scramble aircarft to protest...but shooting a plane down leading to death...wake up kid...that's how major wars start...from killing some unkown politican...to shotting down a military jet
Don't mind some people and their analysis. They don't know how serious the action is, something that have not happened in the past 60 years and NATO have already called for an extraordinary meeting of its members to tell you the seriousness of the incident. Putin just made a statement in the past 14minutes that Turkey stabbed them in the back. My view is that Russia will not go for a full blown war but will hit Northern Syria that borders Turkey hard in the next few years and Northern Turkey better evacuate themselves early enough. NATO will go for appeasement policy but Russia is not stupid to take their apologies and diplomacy. they will come back to the table only when they must have taken their pound of flesh from the Northern turkey/Syria border.
