helinues: The former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Olu Falae, has revealed that six Fulani herdsmen kidnapped him on Monday and made him trek 30km from Ilado where he was taken, to Owo.
He also said he was made to sleep in the bush for three days as the kidnappers changed their locations every four hours. President Muhammadu Buhari had on Wednesday directed the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to ensure the rescue of the former minister.
While speaking with Governor Olusegun Mimiko, who paid him a visit at his residence in Obaile, Mr. Falae said he believed the herdsmen were working for Boko Haram. The Afenifere chieftain said he was made to sleep on the bare floor throughout his stay with his captors. A family source, who said he was present when Mr. Falae explained his ordeal, said he was not certain if ransom was paid.
“Baba has just narrated his ordeal to some of us. His abductors made him to trek from his farm to Owo. Baba also said he was sleeping on the ground since his kidnap,” the source said. “We can’t say if any ransom was paid for his release. According to Baba, when he told the kidnappers that his family only had N2million, they asked him if he thought the amount was enough for Boko Haram.”
Mr. Arase had told journalists that no ransom was paid before Mr. Falae secured his freedom, adding that policemen had been making effort to rescue the former minister since Monday.

Politics › Re: Dogara Urges Nigerians To Forgive Boko Haram Members by meccuno: 1:36pm On Sep 18, 2015 |
oluwaSmith1: The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara, has called on Nigerian Christian community, particularly those in North East states to forgive members of the Boko Haram Islamist sect.
He stressed that the country could only make meaningful development when Nigerians begin to forgive one another. He noted that although people’s sources of livelihood and churches were destroyed during the fiery days of the insurgents, the Christian community should, in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ, forgive and look forward to better times.
The Speaker, who is the first northern minority Christian from the core north to hold the highest political office in Nigeria, made this appeal yesterday in Abuja at the Christian Ecumenical Centre, during the diamond anniversary lecture of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria.
Dogara re-affirmed the right of every Nigerian to subscribe freely to any religion of his choice as long as it suits his or her conscience.
According to him: “The need for sober reflection is particularly important for us in Nigeria, especially in the North-eastern states of Nigeria, where the terrorist group, Boko Haram, which of late, has been flaunting its association with the world terror group, the Islamic State (ISIS), has targeted not only the Church, but also Mosques, children, women and indeed, the entire society, in mindless terror, death and destruction of all that we hold dear.
“The rights of our people as entrenched in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) as amended, to worship and choose their religion has been violated by the terrorists, who left no one in doubt that they want everyone to follow their ways.
“What are the lessons for us today in Nigeria? Christians would need to forgive those who, especially in the last six years, have promoted, strengthened and supported the massive destruction that the Church and others had suffered in the hands of the Boko Haram. But, where else lies the footstep of the saviour except in forgiving? History has shown that the blood of saints cannot be shed in vain.”
The Speaker called on clergymen to live above board and be actively involved in nation-building, noting that Christian leaders should not look up to the world for leadership.
“The Church must never look to the world for leadership; rather, the world should look to the Church for leadership,” he stated.
http://dailypost.ng/2015/09/18/dogara-urges-nigerians-to-forgive-boko-haram-members/ the only way Nigerians can forgive boko haram is if dogaras wife, his daughters and his sister are all raped to death, butchered into tiny pieces then dogara and his sons are strapped with bombs, after they might have amputated their limbs and arms shoot them in their thighs then use the remote controlled bombs to blow them beyond recognition.......idi.ot |

juicee1: One thing I'll like you to know is that lagos is a blessed place. No matter what you do to hurt it, it still grows. FCT was taken away from it to make it dilapidated, but see how developed it has become due to yoruba wisdom in fashola. Abuja can't even stand its commercial stance. When people claim lagos is just enjoying oil money from Niger delta, they were quickly silenced by the discovery of oil in lagos. Lagos is currently building a world class international airport in lekki which will divert a lot of foreign flights to itself because of the beauty of lekki. Talk about the refinery, free trade zone, badagry port, lekki deep sea port and the superb Eko atlantic artificial island just to mention a few. It is ridiculous to think the removal of a market where substandard electronic goods and pirated CDs are sold will cripple lagos. Majority of electronic companies are now opening showrooms across the state and the nation. So, whatever delusional glory alaba market has will fade off in the next couple of years. People now do shopping malls, not 2by2 shops.
What do you think ambode is up to with his recent meetings with korean and asian ambassadors? I believe his about to give them incentives so they can bring in their automobile companies to lagos.
Lagos leads...others follow
Let peace reign one thing most of u guys fail to understand is the importance of traffic to lagos state.......the population is what drives lagos and the igbos whether they sell fake or original creates massive revenue for the state of lagos and a sensible government would not because of tribal thinking decide to do away with these little sources of income.......the shopping malls are place where the rich go and the poor might not relate with the fact that things are cheaper there because of the competitions that are abound in different markets in lagos........if you chase the igbos out of lagos, a decision you might regret later, we would be @ the mercy of south africans and with DSTV, I hope u get the picture........there are checks that are done by these business men which has a multiplier effect and in turn creates employment for others......also remember that the sea port is one major reason why these igbos have decided to pitch their tent in lagos and the market also.......there are very many business men who are making serious money in Nnewi aba who do not even know what lagos looks like.........the igbos should in turn try and see if they can get their port and the yorubas should try and stop these extortion.......people who do business complain a lot.......there should be a meeting point.........all these people who think if the igbos leave then they would have peace am really sorry for u.......diversity is what's still driving lagos and since when it was changed as the FCT, tHat lagos we used to know has been killed...........please I am igbo and I have always known lagos........but all thÉse tribal nonsense has done aloþ more harm than good |

awoyam1: President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that Nigeria is a secular state, and its citizens are free to hold on any religious belief.
The president made the declaration Sunday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, at the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria.
Buhari, represented by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, acknowledged the fact that the Catholic Bishops Conferences were crucial, and commended the Catholic Church for its humanitarian works in the internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in the North Eastern part of the country.
”The business of the state is to protect the lives, livelihood and properties of all Nigerians regardless of religion, ethnicity or political affiliation. There shall be no state religion, and all Nigerians are guaranteed freedom of worship,” the president said, saying that his administration was focused on the issues of security, the economy and corruption.
According to him, the menace posed by Boko Haram will soon be over, as the Federal Government is winning the war.
He advised that the poor and vulnerable in the society should be considered, as they constitute two-thirds of the population, and advocated for substantive investment in education, teachers’ training and entrepreneurial training, calling for the diversification of the economy and investment in infrastructure.
In his speech, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike promised to maintain good relations with the Catholic Church, saying that he would support missionary schools and make them regain their lost glory and prestige; “so that they can become centres of educational excellence.
“As my government settles fully into the business of governance, we hope to engage the church in all the areas where our unique competence and moral suasion are likely to bring about a faster realization of the common good of the people.”

gunuvi: @op, my simple question to you is that why is it that Unity schools cut off marks differs and unequal? Most northern states score to enter is as low as 2 while most southern states cut off marks is as high as 45. Why But when it comes to appointments and national cakes, the northerners are still the ones that benefit most. That's why if the principle of federal character is followed in a sane clime, Nigeria will be better. Mind you all region has great people who can fit into different positions and perform extremely well. Nigeria has to respect every region and ensure balanced representation that's why the principle of federal character was entrenched in our constitution so everyone can have a sense of belonging. Nigeria will be great!!! the federal character principle was created by the North so as to balance the un even posture of the educational section of our country. The South had a very strong edge over the North in education which made it practically impossible for the Northerners to have equal opportunity in job placement. An example is when the whites where still in charge, the igbos dominated the civil service in the North hence the Northernisation decree of 1962. And it was clearly evident in the interview given to the sarduana of sokoto ahmadu bello. He said it would be preferable to give a foreigner than other Nigerians....this lead to crises in the North in the early 40s and late 50s into the 60s. The reason why Nigeria has been backward is because of the Norths firm grip on power through accelerated promotions of Northern officers in the armed forces. Customs, immigration, police etc. If you check the Number of ambassadors Nigeria has ever produced you would discover that 90% are from the North. And if you check the people who have actually made Nigeria proud in sports education and other human endeavours, the North produces next to nothing....the south has always dominated........check the number of football teams that were chosen without merit and you would discover that Nigeria has failed woefully.......another latest example was the Nigerian Basketball team who had a white man as coach, olumide oyedeji as captain, ike diogu was one spectacular player but didn't play as a result of injury, u had an edo represented, jos, yoruba, and igbos........we succeeded.....but use a Nigerian coach and quota system would be applied and we would have been beaten black and blue by angola........the point am trying to make is that no tribe has monopoly of leadership, leaders are in all tribes of Nigeria.......who would have thought that obama from kenya would become the president of the most powerful country in the world and a black man.....?? Let's stop deceiving our selves the North has slowed down the progress of this great Nation.........we need to go back to regionalism and pracÞise true federalism so that is the North wants to live in the stone age then all well and good. As an business man, I could decided to start importing camels.......... |

knighttroy: SHOCKING LIVING OF CUSTOMS OFFICERS
Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service have been complaining of the dilapidated barracks they call home. Many officers serving in the headquarters, Garki and other units around karu are not happy with their living conditions which some of the officers said it can be compare to abodes for pigs and rats.
I came to know about this when I visited a friend who lives in one of the NCS barracks in Karu site, Abuja. When he told me about all what they are passing through there, I felt so sorry for him. Looking at the environs it’s not meant for humans beings not to talk of law enforcement officers with their families. With such living condition tell me how officers won’t be involve in corrupt and illegal deals in order to leave squalor. Look at how they are surrounded my sucker ways, dustbin and bushes. How can humans be living here? No wonder they refer to the block as block “RC” {Refugee Camp}.
According reports online many housing units have been built for rank and file officers. Looking around I saw some newly built two story building of about thirty rooms per block. When I asked one of the officers he said I should forget about Customs because the state of nepotism in the service is too much. Eager to know what he meant I pressurized him to tell me and he said the new built blocks were supposed to be theirs because in 2012 the house they were living in was demolished by the directives of the former Comptroller General Abdullahi Inde Dikko that a new block be erected. In other for them to have a temporary place to lay their head, they were given a very small room that cannot enter 23incs foam {mattress} but they have to manage it since they were promised by the authorities that it will be for an interim. At the completion of the houses the officers who were living at the house that was demolished since 2012 applied for accommodation in the said house that was promised to them but their countless letters were futile. They regrouped themselves and wrote another letter through the barracks provost of Karu yet the person who was in charge of allocation and accommodation deliberately refused to allocate the houses to them even after coming to see where those officers were staying that it was not good yet he told them to still pack out of that one in two weeks’ time when the officer asked where are they to pack to, he told them that is not his business maybe they don’t know him that he is Mr. Burukunu {Mr. Pepper}. It’s either pack out or he will throw their things out.
Later on the new houses was all allocated to different officers who are his friends, boys, relatives and boys of the Oga at the top at the detriment of those who were occupying it before. In anger one of the officers intruded into our conversation and say nearly all the people that have houses allocated them did have house before but because of they know the Mr. Burukunu so he gave houses again to them while others didn’t have even one to live in with their families.
On my way going out I saw all these building and some rooms are not yet occupied why not just allocate these empty rooms to those who deserve it? Why is it that all this Oga at the top like to see their fellow human suffer like this? Its really uncalled-for. Let us join hands together and fight all these injustice and nepotism in our country please an injustice to one is an injustice to all.
I beg the new leaders of our country and that of the service headed by Col Ali Hameed to do justice to this issue of accommodation in karu barracks. buharis body language would soon fix it..... |

Piranhas are definitely not the friendliest fish you can play with. In fact, they are one of the most dangerous according to source. Unlike other types of fish, piranhas do not merely feed on sea grass and algae. They feed on small fishes and even the flesh of other animals. The sharp teeth of these tiny fishes are very deadly!
Reports say that the boy was on a vacation with his family when the tragic incident happened.
