Nigerian giant, Kamaru Usman retained his welterweight championship with a hard-earned win over Colby Covington in the main event of UFC 268 at Madison Square Garden in New York on Sunday morning. Kamaru Usman became the first African to win the UFC championship belt. The ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ took the fight via unanimous decision after five tough rounds, though the champion’s 19th straight victory and a fifth successful defence of his belt was well deserved, given his superior striking power and the fact that he almost finished ‘Chaos’ near the end of round two after landing a couple of massive left hooks. Covington had no chance, against the Nigerian giant It’s a second win over Covington for Usman – the first arrived just under two years ago and was a classic in the welterweight division – and the fact that this fight went the distance and was again very evenly-matched suggests that this rivalry is not done yet. “I know there was a lot of trash talk, a lot of bad blood here and I’m sure there’s still gonna be some after tonight, but this guy’s a tough son of a b*, he’s tough as s. I wanted to get crazy, try get him out of there, but I knew with a guy like this, he’s gonna creep back in it and we’re gonna end up in a situation [going to the judges’ score cards] that we don’t want to be in,” said Usman after the fight. He added, “I am the pound-for-pound best alive right now.” Score card: Main event: Welterweight championship: Kamaru Usman def. Colby Covington via unanimous decision (48-47 48-47 49-46), R5, 5:00 https://uptownmediainc.com/kamaru-usman-retains-ufc-welterweight-championship/ |

Overheads and recurrent expenditure, must be reviewed and reduced across board. Nigeria needs to be investing in news ways to make money, the world is phasing out fossil fuels, no more customers for our crude anymore. Government can make a lot of revenue, by improving the human resources and making money from taxes. Our entertainment industry is another foreign exchange earner. Government can work with management companies specialized in entertainment facilities, and support in building world class studios and auditoriums, where world events are hosted... something like the 02 arena, it will attract a lot of foreign investment. Training institution are also important, so Nigerians learn useful skills, to make them self sufficient. Let's invest in our human resources, Sports, entertainment, skills aquisition, as well as intellectual property, these are goldmine to boost our GDP, but security and peace is paramount, otherwise nothing can be achieved. This present set of politicians should pass bills to reduce cost of running government. We can save 50% of what we are presently spending. Nigeria is not a rich country like America, our minimum wage clearly tells us that. The disparity is too much. |
An officer was there...is vote buying not an offense, in our electoral act? |
