Sports / World Cup 2018 Final: Amuneke Predicts Winner, Gives Reason by Meekdon: 9:23pm On Jul 13, 2018
Former Nigeria international, Emmanuel Amuneke has predicted that France will win the 2018 World Cup in Russia on Sunday.
France will trade tackles with Croatia on Sunday in all European final and Amuneke tipped the former World champions to go home with the coveted prize.
The ex-Super Eagles winger, who is a member of FIFA’s Technical Study Group, said that France are the favorites to win the final because of their influential midfielder, N’Golo Kanté.
”Each team has a very strong midfield, there are also individually strong players in the attack,” Amuneke was quoted as saying by Izvestia.
”But Croatia does not have such a supporting midfielder as N’Golo Kante, able to close the center of the field and prevent the opponent from turning around. Due to him, the French are good defensively.”
Kante has played ninety minutes in each of the six games contested by France in the 2018 World Cup.
France have not won the World Cup since 1998 but reached the final in 2006 where they lost to Italy on penalties.
On the other hand, Croatia, are playing in their first final ever.

Politics / 2019: They Can’t Take Rivers By Force, They Will All Die – Wike Speaks On Ekiti by Meekdon: 9:08pm On Jul 13, 2018
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has claimed that the APC-led Federal Government is recruiting more policemen specifically to rig the 2019 general elections in selected states.
Governor Wike also declared that national security had degenerated beyond measures because of the actions of the Federal government.
Wike said these in an interview with newsmen at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
He alleged that policemen were sent for special training on how to rig 2019 elections, adding that what was happening in Ekiti State was what would happen in 2019.
Governor Wike said that based on the security intelligence at his disposal, the APC Federal Government had concluded plans to use the Ekiti method on Rivers State in 2019.
He said: “Why will there not be insecurity? Those who are supposed to fight crime are working towards rigging the 2019 General Elections. You have sent 30,000 policemen to Ekiti, no wonder herdsmen and militiamen are killing in other places.
“You moved 30,000 policemen to a state. This has allowed other states to be porous. In focusing on 2019, they have allowed their major security function not to be tackled. Everyday in their meetings they talk about how to take over states”.
Governor Wike disclosed that the APC Federal Government was recruiting more policemen specifically to rig the 2019 elections in selected states.
“They even sent Policemen for special training on how to rig 2019 General Elections. What is happening in Ekiti State is nothing compared to what they will do in 2019.
“A Government that came to power with the claim that Nigeria voted for them no longer wants to allow people to vote in 2019.
“To defend this democracy is a duty that we are ready to undertake. You cannot push the people to this level. They are pushing people to self defence. If they can do that to a sitting governor, what will happen in 2019.
“They want Rivers State by all means. Even if it means killing 500 people. But they will die, not us. We are prepared for the elections because we have something to tell the people.
“The APC Federal Government has nothing to tell the people, so they are afraid. The only instrument the APC Federal Government has is coercion, force, brutality,” he alleged.

Politics / R-APC Not Our Members, No Faction In Our Party – APC by Meekdon: 7:46pm On Jul 05, 2018
The All Progressives Congress, APC, on Thursday insisted that there is no faction in the party.
Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesman of the party, said the breakaway Reformed APC, R-APC, were never members of the ruling party.
Recall that the New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, faction of APC had announced their breakaway on Wednesday in Abuja under a fresh alias, reformed APC, and appointed Alhaji Buba Galadima as its interim National Chairman.
In a swift reaction, Abdullahi had acknowledged the breakaway group.
However, the APC spokesperson on Thursday, in a statement issued in Abuja said the membership status of the R-APC leaders was being investigated.
Abdullahi said having failed to scuttle the national convention of the ruling party, they decided to be mischievous.
The statement reads, “On Wednesday July 4, 2018, a group of individuals announced itself as ‘Reformed All Progressives Congress (APC)’ at a press conference held in Abuja. By their actions, this group has attempted to create the impression that our Party is factionalised. This is not true.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) wishes to affirm that there is no faction in our Party and declares the action by these individuals as mischievous and ill-advised.
“Having failed to scuttle the National Convention as was their original plan, they now resort to this subterfuge as a way of achieving the pre-determined end of causing confusion.
“As a matter of fact, we doubt that these individuals parading as leaders of the so called faction are actual members of our party. We are currently investigating their true membership status within the party.
“While we shall continue to monitor developments in this respect; we will not hesitate to take lawful actions to defend the unity of our Party and protect the sanctity of its identity. We are currently reviewing the action of this so-called faction in order to determine if any aspect of the Party’s constitution has been breached with the connivance of any of our members.”

Politics / 2019: Why Uduaghan Won’t Get APC Automatic Ticket – Ebitimi by Meekdon: 2:45pm On Jul 05, 2018
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Delta State House of Assembly aspirant for Burutu Constituency II, Duduke Ebitimi has declared that there would be no automatic senatorial ticket for Emmanuel Uduaghan, should he defect to the party.
He said that APC already had a senatorial candidate who had been endorsed and accepted by party leaders and stakeholders in Delta South.
Ebitimi was reacting to a viral reports that the immediate past Governor of the State has concluded plans to join the APC this week.
Addressing reporters on the issue of reserving the senatorial seat for the former governor, Duduke said, “Uduaghan defecting to APC will be a big plus for the party in the state. We are going to welcome him into the party with open hands.
“However, there are people who have been in the party and have contributed to building the party in the state, and we have already endorsed some of them to contest key political offices in Delta South.
“We APC faithful in Delta South have endorsed and accepted Chief Michael Jonny to run for the senatorial seat. But that is not to say that anyone coming cannot aspire for political office on the platform of the party.
“We just want to make sure they are committed to the welfare of the party, not just to use it to fulfil their political ambition. They should first work for the success of the party in the upcoming election, following which they can be recommended for possible appointments.”

Travel / Abacha Loot: Fashola Reveals How Much Buhari Approves For Rehabilitation Of Road by Meekdon: 12:38pm On Jul 03, 2018
Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has announced that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the disbursement of funds recovered from looters under the 2018 federal budget.
He made the announcement at the Herbert Macaulay Memorial Lecture organised by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, yesterday.
The Minister also disclosed that the President had approved N120 billion from the funds for the rehabilitation of 36 roads across the country. He said that the past administration shared the money that was meant for infrastructural development.
Chiding the past administration which he was also part of, Fashola said, “While other oil producing countries were busy building their nations at a time oil prices were high, the past administration in Nigeria started a different form of development, known as infrastructure of the stomach.”
“We should never forget this. We decided to share the money rather than invest the money just to win elections. The money that should have been used to fund the Abakaliki rice was used to import rice.
“This is the opportunity that President Buhari has come to recover through the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan. So, when the President is talking of change, he is talking of a time when we will invest in real infrastructural development and not stomach infrastructure.
“Unlike before, President Buhari has made a choice and that choice has led to massive development across the country.”
