A Nigerian company used one of my Squadhelp listed names as their brand name and registered it in the dot NG version which they registered recently. I see the brand is an App on Google play store (A Finance related Niche). Important to note also is that they used "almost similar logo" as that one on my SH Listed name. Now my Questions are
1. Can they afford to buy the dot come version of the name?
2. Secondly, Will this reduce or increase the chances of selling the name, outside their interest.
3. Is it an offence to imitate logo and and existing name without prior rights to ownership? (Although I can neglect/overlook this aspect by simply applying for a redesign of name logo)

And by the, this is not the first time I'm noticing my name especially the ones being listed at squadhelp being used in another extension but with exact same logo as my listed name. Probably on 3 occasions now, one was an Indian company using same name on dot IN extension but imitating my dot Com logo of the one I have on squadhelp. The other is one company like that using a country level extension too and then this. I'm curious to know what anyone thinks on this and if someone have had similar experience.

This looks like plagiarism. Not sure if that exist in domain. It's a pity Indians and Nigerians make things difficult to entrepreneurs.

Extensions is a leverage in domaining hence, the sta tus quo. However, you can pitch the .com at a lower price because a Google search by a buyer and having a similar extension in .ng is a turnoff except in exceptional cases.

On the logo, you can inform SH probably something can be done for them to drop the logo which may make them buy the name. Nigerians don't understand there are laws in the domain industry. A threat from SH can have positive effect.

I want to lecture you about the current trend in Nigeria's politics. Lawan played a fast one on the delegate list.

If the President does not assent to the amended electoral bill in the next 72hrs, only 774 delegates are required at the Presidential primaries.

The North has few candidates compared to the South.

The North can reach a consensus in 12hrs.

The South, Tinubu will loose with these number of delegates because some candidates are ready to work against him. (Amosun, Fayemi, Oyo and Akeredolu)

Tinubu's mathematics gone wrong.

If Mr President assents to the bill, he will prefer a consensus like he did during the Chairmanship position.

Believe you me, Buhari will never give Tinubu the ticket which he already knows hence, begging for votes.

In all sincerity, law is over hyped. I am not discouraging you. It is always to learn/study your passion devoid of others input. However, in our clime, our parents advise sometimes supercedes all. Not because they hate the course but for certain reasons which is only known to them.

First, seek counsel from either whom you believe have your ears. Ask questions to understand why mass comm is their desire. Check and balance with yours. If you are still not convinced, speak to the other and do same. If either does not convince you, law is the way forward. If one can, then, mass comm.

Let this be done with an open mind like a student who want to learn from elders. Learning is a process. Don't be too adamant. This will help you now and after school because certain decisions need elders counsel.
