Avala
Single mom and budding singer Avala is not here to play. Being part of Big Brother Naija is part of pursuing her dreams and she also wants to inspire other young women. The budding singer studied music and business at York College in Queens, New York. It’s no wonder then that her top artists include one of the city’s most famous exports, Mary J Blidge. Just like the Queen of Hip Hop, the Ogun State native has ambitions to spread her music all over the world.
Frodd
Who is Frodd? He is Fresh and Odd (Frodd). He accompanied his friend to the Big Brother Naija audition and today he finds himself a member of the Pepper Dem Gang. Get to know him here.
Ike
Ike confesses to being heartbroken when he came home to find another man ‘trapped in the closet’. He likes to play the role of the bad boy but he is a softie at heart who keeps it real.
Omashola
The weirdest lie the energetic Omashola has ever told is that he is a prince and his father is a Nigerian king to could earn him favour with the ladies. His latest heartbreak was when his girlfriend refused his marriage proposal.
Ella
If Ella’s life had a soundtrack, it would be ‘Ain’t nobody go time for that.’ The singer, television presenter, voice-over artist, actress and model describes falling in love with herself as one of the best decisions she’s ever made. Victoria “Ella” Nnabuchi is no stranger to the limelight. She was a runner up in a popular music talent search show and she’s a television presenter, voice-over artist, actress and model. She also enjoys dancing, singing, reading, writing, travelling and poetry. The industry preaches that one should fake it until they make it. Not Ella, she says it’s better to “faith it, until you make It.”
Khafi
Police officer Khafi Kareem believes that you can have it all if you believe in yourself. She is not only hoping to win the prize money but she wants the exposure that being in Big Brother Naija House brings so that she can do societal good. Isilomo
Lagos resident, Isilomo Braimoh is single and ready to mingle. An HR manager at 27, Isilomo has an MA in Human Resource Management with professional certification. She winds down from her hectic job by engaging in sports, outdoor activities, food, music and travel. Just like her spirit animal the lioness, Jackye is a fierce hunter who led her software engineering team to winning a contract to build a Fintech app for one of the biggest companies in Africa. The 23-year-old has only had one boyfriend her entire life and she relaxes by watching football, playing games and eating spaghetti, her favourite meal. Her life mantra is, “I never lose, either I win or I learn.”
KimOprah
Bubbly television presenter Kim-Oprah, believes that nothing is impossible to achieve. The African beauty achieved the impossible when she represented Nigeria at the Miss Intercontinental World Beauty Pageant. Celebrities › Re: Olive Utalor: I Can’t Accept Marriage Proposal That Doesn’t Come With A Car by mekuxiani(m): 7:00am On Jun 23, 2019 |
GISTM0RE: GistMore.com
In a world full of single mothers and unmarried women, it’s probably unfathomable why on earth a woman would shun a marriage proposal.
It is presumably what any woman would jump at but it seems this does not apply to budding Nollywood actress, Olive Utalor, who turned down a marriage proposal from her fiance of many years. Her reason? The proposal did not come with a car for her.
On my birthday last year he promised me a car and now he wants me, Olive Utalor to get married to him without a car, it’s not proper. I don’t care if he has supported me through school.
I can’t be trekking under the sun when I am somebody ‘s wife. He should go and look for his class,” the actress blurted out in a chat when Potpourri reached her to find out why she rejected a marriage proposal.
It was gathered that the proposal was made by the fiance, who is a civil servant, a primary school teacher to be precise, on his birthday expecting his girlfriend would be pleasantly surprised and accept but her reaction so much disconcerted him that he contemplated taking his own life. In fact, he was said to have stood on a road perplexed, waiting for any car to run into him.
Nigerians react as women propose to men(Opens in a new browser tab) The whole scene had taken place on a busy working day at a shopping mall in Asaba, Delta State before gaping eyes of many passers-by. The heartbroken boyfriend had thought he had everything perfectly planned and the timing just right, so, rejection was the last thing on his mind but his sweetheart of many years had other ideas.
“I can’t pretend that he is right for me. Yes, he saw me through the early stages of my tertiary education but that doesn’t mean we are right for each other. If he cannot get me a car there can be marriage. I’m not being callous, I’m just being true to myself,” she said smugly.
The Delta State-born actress is quietly making her imprint on the landscape of the movie industry as she has featured in some really good films. Some of the most recent films she featured are Yahoo King, Hope of Glory, Loving Soul, My Pregnant Daughter, Cursed and many others.

TV/Movies › Re: Why We Suspended AIT, Ray Power - NBC by mekuxiani(m): 6:30am On Jun 07, 2019 |
IgbereBlog: The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has explained the reason behind its actions against Daar Communications PLC, operator of AIT and Ray Power FM.
Igbere TV had reported that the NBC, on Thursday suspended the operating license of the broadcast station.
In a statement issued to Igbere TV on Thursday, the Director General of the NBC, Dr. Modibbo Kawu said the decision was based on the violation of the broadcasting code by the stations which is backed by provisions of Section 10 of the Third Schedule of the NBC Act Cap N11 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
He said apart from violating the broadcasting code, the decision was also taken for the failure of the station to pay their license fees as when due, “even persistent warning to the company to toe the line of caution.”
The NBC boss noted that in one of their meetings with the management of DAAR Communications held on 2nd June, 2017, the commission expressed its disappointment with the way and manner hate speech, divisive and inciting comments are applied in discussion of national issues in breach of the provisions of the NBC Act and Broadcast Code, saying that the suspension stands till further notice.
Igbere TV recalls that Chairman and Founder of DAAR Communications, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi had earlier in the day embarked on a protest against what he called ‘undue intimidation and interference’ of the NBC DG, Dr. Modibbo Kawu.
According to him, in their relationship with the NBC, Daar Communications carried on, as if it is beyond the regulatory direction of the commission, even when they didn’t pay their licence fees as and when due.
But Kawu insisted that the revocation of the AIT license was principally linked to the issues regarding the operations of AIT/Raypower, particularly, Political Platform and Kakaaki aired on AIT.
Full Statement,
“Following monitoring reports and complaints from concerned Nigerians about the broadcast contents of Daar Communications Plc’s AIT/Raypower broadcast stations, the NBC have over the last 2 years summoned on several occasions management of the company to address issues regarding the operations of AIT/Raypower with the company, particularly, Political Platform and Kakaaki aired on AIT. ‘‘In one of our meetings, held on 2nd June, 2017, the Commission expressed its disappointment with the way and manner Hate Speech, divisive and inciting comments are applied in discussion of national issues in breach of the provisions of the NBC Act and Broadcast Code.
‘‘Again, on 15th August, 2017, it became imperative to invite the company for yet another meeting on almost same issues. Furthermore, while addressing another meeting on 7th February, 2018 we highlighted issues of concern to the Commission which indicated that the company had been breaching the provisions of Sections 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 of the broadcast Code. The company’s delegates in their response promised to abate the breaches and comply with the law.
‘‘However, on October 18, 2018, the Commission was disturbed with the manner in which social media issues became part of the mainstream media unedited on AIT/Raypower, and was constrained to issue a generic letter to all broadcast stations on the need to exercise caution in the use of user-generated content from the social media knowing how volatile and misleading the social media has become. The management of Daar Communication Plc thereafter took to the social media to display our official correspondences.
‘‘Recently, the Commission’s monitoring reports on AIT/Raypower indicate the use of divisive comments accredited to the segment of “Kakaaki”, tagged, “Kakaaki Social”, where inciting comments like, “Nigeria is cursed, we declare independent state of Niger Delta”, “Nigeria irritates me”, “this country is gradually Islamizing” and other similar slogans are used without editorial control in breach of the broadcast Code. We were therefore constrained to issue Daar Communication letters of warning dated May 27th, 2019.
‘‘We also observed from monitoring reports that a documentary on the Presidential Election Tribunal, a pending election petition matter aired on AIT on Wednesday and Thursday, 22nd and 23rd May, 2019 without regard to the provisions of the Broadcast Code. The Commission, in line with its regulatory powers again cautioned AIT in another letter also dated 27th May, 2019.
‘‘However, instead of making amends, the management of Daar Communications Plc resorted to the use of media propaganda against the regulator. Even the letters from the NBC were posted on social media platforms. Needless to state that Daar Communications have over the years turned themselves into a bad example of how a professional broadcast outfit should not be run.
‘‘In their relationship with the NBC, Daar Communications carry on, as if it is beyond the regulatory direction of the Commission. They don’t pay their licence fees as and when due. Its broadcast is patently partisan and one sided and deliberately inciting and heating the polity. The management of the Company has created the habit of using the channel to fight its personal battles contrary to the statutory requirements of the law.’’
‘‘Today the 6th of June, 2019, AIT/Rapower embarked on use of inflammatory, divisive, inciting broadcasts, and media propaganda against the government and, the NBC for performing its statutory functions of regulating the broadcast industry in Nigeria.
‘‘Consequently, after several meetings with management of Daar Communications Plc and many letters of warning. The NBC, today 6th June, 2019 took a decision to suspend the licence of Daar Communications Plc for failure to abide by the Commission’s directives, the provisions of the NBC Act Cap N11 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria and the Nigeria Broadcasting Code.
‘‘This decision is based on the provisions of Section 10 of the Third Schedule of the NBC Act Cap N11 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, which states as follows: where in the opinion of the Commission the station has been used in a manner detrimental to national interest; where there is wilful or repeated failure to operate substantially as set forth in the licence; where there is wilful or repeated violation or wilful or repeated failure to observe any provision of this Act or any rule or regulation of the Commission authorised by this Act or by a treaty ratified by the Federal Republic of Nigeria; where there is violation of or failure to observe any cease and desist order issued by the Commission; where a provision of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code has been seriously breached; and the SHUT DOWN order is until further notice.”

Education › Re: Poor State Of Obizi Community Secondary School In Ezinihite LGA, Imo State by mekuxiani(m): 10:07am On May 31, 2019 |
schoolnascam: From: collinsuchendusblog.com
Attention has been drawn to the pathetic state of the Obizi Community secondary school in Ezinihite LGA, Imo state, Nigeria.
Students of the school are subjected to classes taught in dilapidated buildings or under trees. The buildings are in such a state of disrepair that when it rains, water gets into the classrooms.
To compound issues, the classrooms lack adequate furniture and some students are forced to stand while being taught.
The surroundings of the school are no better. Overgrown grasses can be seen creeping up the walls of the school building.
A staff of the institution who got in contact with LIB appealed for intervention from good-willed Nigerians. He revealed to LIB that there are no functioning libraries or classrooms. As a result, he said students are exposed to a number of risks including rape and abduction of students.
Appealing for help to rebuild the school up to standard, the staff told LIB: "We are appealing to good Nigerians to come and assist us rebuild this school and bring back standard education to the poor community."
Below are photos of the school.
