The most important opinnion will be that of Anambra people on February 6.

Unfortunately folks like chidicris have decided the outcome and made up their minds. Talk about not giving democracy a chance to succeed.
I hope that giving democracy a chance does not mean rigging out PETER OBI, the citizen governor. You know what I mean? As in how democracy was given a chance in 2003 when Ngige was rigged in. grin

Anambrarians have crossed that dirty river, and they are not ready to go through it again especially in the hands of PDP thugs or their latent members like NGIGE who decamped to AC.

olafolarin:
Do you have issues with Yoruba's?
Fashola is still the best governor in Nigeria right now and AC is the party to beat in any election.
Tinubu wasn't convicted of any drug crime in America.Charges against him was dropped and there was
no evidence to nail him.the amount in his account which he claimed was his mother's was forfeited.
Does that make him a drug lord
?
Ngige's past as governor will ensure his success or failure at the polls not some
baseless aspersions, tribal sentiments or fishermen's rumour.
Why wont you support your fellow Yoruba criminal. Anyway, I wasnt surprise with your ranting.
My point remains that a party like AC that harbours criminals like Tinubu and friends has no business in my state.

The truth about soludo is that he is shady,he became the pdp candidate in a very shady manner, and worse is that he is PDP, the most corrupt political entity in africa.
His political affiliation has nothing to do with his credibilty;afterall, AC is as bad as PDP.
The only grouse I have with Soludo is that he came out at the wrong time: Anambra state already have an action governor who is performing.

I just wish the man will take time off, give up the power and take care of his health, cos only a man alive can rule
But how sure are Nigerians that the cabals who have access to yaradua are transmitting the nations feelings to him. I believe they must have insulated him from the recent political developments in Nigeria.

I hope you wont be worse than Chris Ngige of AC (Action Crminals),a knight who had the temerity to tell Anambrarins that he went to Okija shrine naked with his holy bible and chaplet.

Metal-gong
for your info,ac is better than ppa or apga
How is AC better than APGA? Peter Obi's citizen oriented governance style speaks a lot for APGA.
AC is a party of refined rogues and criminals parading themselves as progressives. Imagine a party where Tinubu, a certified drug lord and alaye is a leader. To even add salt to the injury, they even added their fellow criminals like Atiku and Chris Ngige, the political jobber who introduced the Okija Shrine imbroglio in my state. Infact, Ngige has to apologise for the bad image he created for Anambrarians by going unclothed in Okija shrine for an oath of loyalty and also for occupying our government house illegally for almost three years. Is it not ironic to see the same man who was rigged into office in 2003 to be campaigning against election malpractice: Ngige and his AC men are shamesless and thats one of the reason he is already a loser in the guber race.

@metal-gong, isn't peter selfish enough? he has ruled and his time is due. let him give way so another can rule. why is it that money and power never satisfies?
hahahahahaaha . . . .This my brother must be a funny dude
If you want to know the reason why Peter Obi is contesting for a second term, then you should discern the reason why Soludo is contesting for Anambra guber after he had spent five years as the CBN boss.
Anyway, Soludo is not a bad candidate, but he joined the fray at the wrong time. He should have waited for Peter Obi to complete his 8 years;afterall, Obi has performed better than any governor Anambra state has had.

Vote for the citizen governor, PETER OBI.

You and your Yoruba brothers are idiots. . . .
You guys should spend more time in solving all the political assassination in Yoruba land. Just yesterday, a top politician in Ogun state was killed. May be by 2011, no Yoruba man will have the courage to contest any election in yoruba land due to incessant assassinations.

Anambra politics is far more advanced than what you cowards are doing in oduduwa land . At least, with the number of candidates contesting for Anambra guber, it should have informed you cowards how vibrant and interesting Anambra politics is.
Is there anything wrong with the actions of the aggrieved candidates who that felt they suppose to participate in the debate? No!

Candidate of the Action Congress (AC) in the 2007 governorship election in Ogun State, Dipo Dina, was last night shot dead in Ota by suspected assassins. Although details of the killing were still sketchy as at press time, Dina, an avowed opponent of Gov. Gbenga Daniel and one of the arrow heads of the opposition in the state, Dina was killed around Covenant University in Ota.

Action Congress (AC) governorship candidate in the 2007 general elections, Otunba Dipo Dina is dead.
Dina was shot dead at about 9p.m. on Monday near Canaanland, Ota on the Sango-Ota/Idi-Iroko Road by gunmen suspected to be hired assassins.

Daily Sun gathered that Otunba Dina had attended a political rally in Sango Ota earlier in the day.

It was not immediately known where the AC candidate was headed to after the rally, but the killers were said to have blocked his car, and as he alighted, Dina was shot instantly.
The killers were said to have zoomed off towards Agbara in Dina’s car.

They dropped off the ex-governorship candidate’s driver at Agbara from where he found his way back to Sango to report the incident at the Sango Police Station.

Sympathisers rushed Dina to the Ota General Hospital, which is less than three kilometres to the scene.
Doctors at the hospital confirmed him dead. Sources said his corpse was still at the hospital as at press time.

When called on phone at about 1.00 a.m. this morning, Police Area Commander in Sango Ota, Mr. Adeola Oyelola confirmed the incident.

Mr. Oyeola also confirmed that Dina’s driver was with the police who had swung into action to unravel the mystery behind the killing.

Former Ogun State governor and AC chieftain, Chief Olusegun Osoba was too much in a shock to speak when called on phone, although he confirmed the dastardly act.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, expressed shock.
He described Dina’s death as tragic and a big loss, not to the AC alone, but to Ogun State and the nation.
While reserving further comments till the details of the gruesome murder would be revealed, Muhammed said, “it is sad, very sad.”

Otunba Dina contested the 2007 gubernatorial election and was beaten to the third position by the incumbent Governor Gbenga Daniel. Dina challenged the outcome of the election in court, but lost.
The AC gubernatorial candidate said in a recent interview that if there were credible electoral reforms, he would contest the gubernatorial election in 2011.

[i]Yoruba cowards should come to Anambra state and learn how to play politics without unnecessary assassination.

Eziachi:
My father was a member of that house/the youngest.  And as  someone privy to vital information at the time, my father told me that many of them in the house knew about Biafra  Ojukwu or before they invited Ojukwu to tell him what they have decided and they will like him to lead until a full fledge republic is settled and then election will be held. Because, some wanted Michael Okpara to be the first Prime minister of Biafra and Chief Kogbara from Ijaw his deputy, but them eventually settle for a military person in view of a possible attack.  They have even chosen the name Biafra before Ojukwu was privy to it. The name Biafra was chosen by Chief  Kemte Giadom (an Ijaw man).  Kemte Giadom was the NPP gubernatorial candidate in the old Rivers state, defeated by the most narrowest margin by Chief Melford Okilo.

The reason I am recalling the above was because the ongoing discussion regarding Awolowo's pre-Biafran secession statement.  His statement is not the reason the East seceded but at that time, it was a big boost, call it catalyst that inspired Biafran politician to push ahead. When Nigeria eventually declared war on Biafra, my two brothers were among the first battalion that were quickly drafted to the infamous Ore and I missed it because I was separated from them and was drafted to Abudu/Ogoja sector.

But I can tell for a fact that, the battalion that went to Ore were briefed that, based on information available to Biafran highest chain of command, that the West (Yoruba) will declare their own independent in a matter of days and they will likely to be attacked by the northern forces, who now dominated the Nigerian military force after Eastern officers left. In addition, all the big commands/armouries are still in Lagos, all under the northern commanders.

Therefore, the idea is to match toward the west to help defend them in the event of reprisal attack by the north.  It is always heart breaking when you heard young people today, especially those from the west been fed an unforgiving lies that Yoruba joined the war when Biafra decided to invade Yoruba land.  Therefore, when the West did the opposite of our expectation, it was not only a shock but a complete overhaul of Biafran plans. However, we were determined to leave union with or without the West but again we made another fatal mistake of thinking that Britain would not be involved directly with arming Nigeria.
We knew they will support the anything with the north, not to the extent of their involvement, even working hand in hand with Egypt they fought a couple of years earlier for the Suez Canal.

These are the fact of the matter, that the venom, our western brothers pursued the war was a shock, not only to Biafran big high and mighty but to ordinary everyday folks in the East. The direct actions/pronouncements of the likes of Awo, Adekunle, Obasanjo during and after the war,  till today,  confusing to many Biafrans citizens
.
Because the question on everybody’s lips was, was, why? why? Why? Because until that moment, we have no history of any known conflict between the two regions apart from normal tiffs among politicians and then we heard Adekunle on our small transistor radio through the BBC world service  boasting that when he matched to the east, he will kill not only things that move but things that doesn't move.  Therefore, he did!

He is not one of the so-called northerners, our perceived enemies; he is one of us, a southerner. What was our crime to them before the war?
It was just a case of jealousness . . .
Their innate inferiority complex drove the hopeless Yorubas to support their terrorist Northen brothers. That all.

@sheriffman, I agree with u one one point and disagree on the 2nd point. I think it is very pertinent that the governor responds to the antics of the PDP or it may give the impression that they are right. 2ndly, Comrade Oshiomhole has performed well. He may not have done as much as people want him to, but he has surely done more in ONE YEAR than EIGHT years of the unLUCKY governor and 18months of the clueless professor of Law
The picture you posted only gave credence to the PDP allegation that Oshiomole has spent 18 months cultivating only flowers in Edo state . . .
It is now obvious that the dude is a failure . . .
Being in an opposition party doesnt translate to good governance - - -Thats what Edo people just discovered in the case of Oshiomole.
