Most Nigerians are just stupid and hypocritical elements. Whats wrong with raising funds for a campaign? I bet you, if Soludo had decided to sponsor the campaign solely by himself, some idiots will say that he is now using the bribes he collected from the troubled banks CEOs. Most of you critics feign to reason like civilized individuals while forgetting that in a typical civilized society, electoral campaigns are mostly financed with the help of the candidates friends and well wishers. I didn't see anything wrong with his campaign fund raising, although I'm a supporter of the incumbent governor. All we want is a free and fair election. |
Politics › Re: Why Are The Ibos Hell Bent On Claiming The Niger Delta Even Tho It Aint Theirs by metalgong5(m): 1:35am On Jan 14, 2010 |
bk_baybe99: Ok, another interesting discovery I made recently about the entity called Nigeria; The Niger Delta Region DOES NOT belong to the ibos. I have always been under the misconception that it belonged to them, thus, their constant complaints of being wronged, marginalized, and cheated. I also, wrongly, assumed that the militants in The Niger-Delta was made up of the Ibos. This begs the question, if the Region does not belong to the ibos, why are they hell bent on taking it as theirs?!? Articles I've read since show clearly that the Ibos have the Region in their plans when they finally leave Nigeria. Will they be better 'masters' to the Niger-Deltans (if Nigeria splits) than the Northerners presently are to them? I doubt that any group in Nigeria would want to join a new nation where they will be the clear minority.
The argument that happened this past weekend pitted two Niger-Deltans (one was from Port-Harcourt in Bayelse state, i think. I jotted all this down so if I make any mistakes in spelling forgive me) against 3 ibos (family members) and a yoruba friend who came with the ibos who surprisingly (or maybe not) took sides with the Niger-Deltans (I called them 'deltans' and they took umbrage. They explained that they arent Deltans; I dont remember now their explanation.lol). I dont think the ibo guys will be friends with the yoruba anymore after this weekend's argument.
Anyways, the ibos insisted that the Niger Delta had no choice but to come with them if a Biafran nation was declared tommorrow; the Niger Deltans vehemently opposed this and stated that they would rather die than go form a nation with majority ibos. The ibos retort was , then die they would because come hail or sleet the Niger Delta wasnt going anywhere but with Biafra. Their statements shocked me!!! How can you force a people, that has fears of discrimination, to come with you??!?! To go do what, go back into the slavery they are running from? The Niger Deltans said they would never go with the ibos but would instead set up their own nation, OR, they would join a nation of other minorities of some states in present day Nigeria. According to them, discussions are already underway for these minority states to form their own nation (advantage being that there wont be a clear majority) independent of all the major tribes in Nigeria in the even of the inevitable split that is bound to soon engulf the nation.
The Yoruba guy insisted that the Niger-Delta had the choice to go 'on its own' if they didnt want to be part of Biafra; of course our Ibo buddies didnt find his statement funny in anyway. Furthermore, he informed us that one of the reasons Ojukwu was quick to go to war was because he had every intention of controlling the oil of the indigenous Niger Deltans. I was shocked (although I think I've heard something to this effect before) because if his claims were true, that means Ojukwe clearly had selfish motives for planning a war against its more powerful Nigerian neighbors.
So, Im asking a simple question, if the Niger Delta does not belong to the Ibos why do they have their eyes on it? Why do they invoke it, always , in their cries for a seperate state? Someone please explain!!!! Why is this Akata basta.rd always interested in Igbo affairs. Are you looking for an Igbo husband? . . . Mind you that they dont marry who.res. You better start searching for your biological father instead of wasting time with your mother's Yoruba booty mate whose second job is to be feeding you with trash. |

naijaway: @metal gong, replying you in the same manner is silly but I'll be silly this time because you are way above silly, a BLOODY FOOL, and an idiotic piece of poo. Onlytruth took the time to explain even though i still disagree.
In Nigeria we are so endowed in the now now type of stuff; business investment - looking for profit 1 or 2 yrs; Senators and public servants - all steal now because tomorrow is not promised to them; Teachers, police, bankers, etc collect bribes and rewrite stories because tomorrow doesn't count. etc. We are saying use an oath devoted to anambra people but will condemn islamist north for trying to impose sharia, I ask you - what is the difference? What are the limits? Are you trying to tell me in a future Nigeria a yoruba or hausa/fulani or even a anambra/nigerian born by foreign parents will not one day run for elections in the state? What if their beliefs run contrary to your own beliefs so do they get killed for that or rejected for that. Na wa for the Nigerian mentality wih all the acclaimed litracy levels but still lacks common sense. I can see a situation that people wear traditional dress to school but with requirements governing his/her ability to be active like saying u cannot come with an agbada. Nigerians should get in a habit of assessing situations and having a visionary output that degrades no one due to our national structure. Even if all the sides were a country, you still need to have slacks but honest and fair slacks. People can still buy those oath givers and takers alike; So we have to infiltrate cheating by making people afraid they could be infiltrated with more than 75% success rate. Traditional rulers and oaths don't work like that or else we would have been a world power full stop. Make we begin see two lane road as two lane road or else you go dey call track route in an off road(not for cars) a two lane road because two people fit pass the same time. The east does not need go extremist when the motto biafra was all about fighting oppression. I can't shout but i must say, we need to play fair here, and thank God the race in Nigeria is even more defined so the fairness if spread will accomodate those whose races are different when they start coming en mass because the good will win evil in Nigeria, i don't have my watch here because the ignorance is closing in big time so am busy fighting. I don't know you neither do I know your ethnic group, but one thing one can easily deduce from your incoherent ranting is your abysmal ignorance of Igbo tradition and culture. If you are an Igbo man, you must be among those referred to as ' Ndi ala bu otu.' |

You better be informed! Its obvoius that you are ignorant of the Igbo culture. . . .Ofor Nri is the oldest and remains the oldest. I dont even know how Aguleri came into this picture. Anambra state doesnt need PDP any more. even if they present Angel Gabriel as their candidate. . . . Peter Obi has shown Anambrarians what leadership and fiscal responsibility is all about: And thats the reason why Anambrarians will send him to a second missionary journey. As for the issue of endorsements, Ekwueme's endorsement of Soludo wont yield him any vote becasuse Ekwueme has lost some crediblity with the Anambra populace. Ekwueme kept mute when the Uba brothers, his fellow PDP brothers, turned Anambra state into a lawless fiefdom. On the otherhand, Ojukwu has always been in the fore front of any national issues pertaining to the Igbos. He challenges the status quo with out fear of any backlash; hence, his endorsement matters alot. paddy_lo: a fight to the finish indeed. . .but i do think ekwueme is right on this one, . .peter obi has nothing to offer to an anambrarian like me. . . and with all due respect to the ikemba. . .soludo is the future. . . And thats the reason why Peter Obi is the man. . . He is working for Anambrarians at home who are at the recieving end of the PDP strangulation and not people like you who are faring well in Philadephia. |

The said poll was a charade conducted by one Jideofor Adibe who is an ardent supporter of Soludo's campaign. Every broke Tom and Jerry is now trying to be relevant in Anambra politics. Anambra 2010: APGA, AC dismiss pro-Soludo poll By WILLY EYA Sunday, January 3, 2010 More Stories on This Section All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has faulted an opinion poll which favoured the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Prof Chukwuma Soludo in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State. The Chairman of APGA in Anambra, Akunwata Mike Kwentoh described the poll which presented the immediate past governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as the preferred candidate as fake. The poll was recently conducted by Holler Africa in conjunction with Dozie Anambra. But speaking to journalists at Queen’s Suits Hotel, Awka, Kwentoh decried the degeneration in Nigeria and wondered what some candidates who sponsor fake polls will do with the society if they eventually become governor. Questioning the integrity of those that conducted the poll, he called on the people of Anambra to vote for men that would always maintain a certain standard of decency. He said that politics ought to be played with decorum and honesty for the society to progress. “Everybody that visits the internet would have known that Holler Africa is a site that is100 per cent devoted to Soludo’s governorship aspiration. How can such an organization that claimed it is based in London conduct polls that involved Soludo and wants us to take them seriously. “They said they conducted it in collaboration with Dozie Africa, headed by one Jideofor Adeibe, a columnist. Check the last articles the said Jideofor wrote in the past weeks and you will see that he writes for Soludo. The group said it was independent, when in fact, it was one C. Adinuba, another Soludo apologist who writes for him and in his defence, that facilitated its publication. Where then is objectivity?” he said. In a related development, Action Congress (AC) Youth Alliance, Anambra Chapter, has described the polls as pure fabrication saying that the Anambra election cannot be won through fraudulent polls. Part of the release by the group signed by its Chairman, Comrade Sylvester Okemmadu said that the poll simply showed the extent some people could go to commit fraud because they are desperate to become governors. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2010/jan/03/national-03-01-2010-07.htm |

Another kidnap saga in Kaduna , Demand for N30m ransom From NOAH EBIJE, Kaduna Friday, January 1, 2009 More Stories on This Section Barely two months after the kidnap and eventual release of the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government (SSG), Mr. Yayock Waje, another kidnap incident has occurred in Kaduna State. This time around, a high profile woman simply identified as Mrs. Bako was kidnapped in Barnawa area of Kaduna city at about 10.pm on Wednesday, with the kidnapers demanding N30 million as ransom. The kidnappers were said to have trailed her from unidentified place up to her residence in Barnawa, and abducted her at gunpoint. Mrs. Bako’s husband is said to be a senior staff with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), headquarters, Abuja. Kaduna State Police Command has in the meantime beefed up security to track down the abductors which the police believed were still within Kaduna State. When contacted, the Kaduna State Police Commissioner, Tambari Yabo Mohammed, confirmed the story, saying, “we are in contact with the family of the kidnapped lady and our operatives are working in close contact with them with a view to finding the kidnapers. “For now, we believe that they are around us, from all the available reports we have from the service providers. We are doing our best and we hope they will be rounded up. “These kidnapers must have been trailing her from a far distance and when she came to her house, the kidnapers just came out of their car and pounced on her at gun point.” http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2010/jan/01/national-01-01-2010-16.htm |
