rhektor, I maintain my promise not to expound any more on Eshu but I did not rest, I took it as an assignment to explore and bring to you a generic lesson on the topic. I found one....a very good one indeed. Go to this video brother. It is lengthy but be patient and learn through it. You donot have to accept what is said, but do not shut it out...let it awaken your mind to a new aspect of nature. Remember that what is taught here is generic and fitting for general public. https://vimeo.com/255482328 |
macof:So we don't go into long essays on this misunderstanding. Please put this on your record so you can reference it in future recalls. 1 - I have always presented my contributions as "my personal conviction and truths", separate from the mainstream acceptance of research studies. Sometimes I would tread in areas I am yet to fully get clarity and in those cases I present "my theories". 2 - I do not bring my religion, faith, spiritualism and initiations into competition with others'. I don't know who is across from me and what they know or do not know. I do not compete on the level. I also keep my spirituality a personal business that no one needs to know but me and my God. |
0balufonlll:I read this book you screenshot here. Let me itemize my thoughts on this so it is organized for clarity. Here are my theories... 1 - I have never seen any report, however remote in time, of any earth shifting force or plate movements anywhere in Yoruba region. If you have any plese share, otherwise we should agree that the land itself and its topography is a constant for as far back into human history we can go. 2 - I have never heard of any devastating weather or climatic change that transformed the landscape and coasts of Yorubaland and its region. If you have information to the contrary, share. The drying up of river or water body is a climatic change. Famine is a climatic change. 3 - The above two (tectonic movement and climatic change) are factors typically recorded for "involuntary" displacement and population wipeout or relocations in human, plant and animal history. In their absence we can conclude that the ecology in Yorubaland and its region have been in balance a very very long time. Ecology is the cohabitation of humans, plants, animals, and involve subsistence on land, water and air. 4 - Unless we have carbon dating that can prove the above constants invalid, then we should agree that Yorubaland and its region has been peopled for millenias. 5 - Any displacements and population shifts on record can therefore be attributed to "voluntary" outcomes. Like migration, war, commerce, and so on. We have records of these voluntary movements occurring in Yorubaland and its region. 6 - The voluntary actions of displacement should therefore be our baseline in studying the pattern of movement, the reshaping of ecology and the resultant outcomes they produced as it affects a transformative evolution in structures of power and identities. 7 - We should divide the epochs to a pre-Oduduwa X-land and post-Oduduwa Yorubaland. I say X-land because Yoruba is the identity of Oduduwa. 8 - The people of X-land were the aborigines and existed as autonomous communities, spoke different languages, with no central power of state. Their language is the Niger-Congo stock. 9 - Ile Ife was a city remnant of the Nok civilization and was located on the bank of the Niger. The Ile Ife today is not the original. 10 - Oduduwa came to this side of the world to find abode amongst the Nok. His navigation path from Borno down to the Niger-Benue Confluence and into Nupe country and southward to Old Ife is suggestive of a search for the Nok people where he knew best to locate them. He met their ruins in the Niger-Benue valley but continued on to find their remnants....which he did in Old Ife. He did not further his journey past the Old Nok city. 11 - Obatala, Obalufon and the rest were state rulers of what was left of Nok society. The Nok civilization and its language is the de facto culture and lingua-franca of all indigenous people of Benue-Valley basin. The language distribution is what is now classified as Niger-Congo. Late comers into the region, like the Yorubas, with a different language stock were mistaken as indigenous population and co-joined into the Niger-Congo. 12 - The Nok culture and rulership in Old Ife were displaced and substituted with a new world order imported with migrant Oduduwa from the Nile/Mesopotamian basin. 13 - The dispersions of Yoruba from North East outwardly should be corrected....that mapping represents the outflow of conquest and power after Old Ife was in the grip of Oduduwa and his camp fanned out into the autonomous communities in X-land and imposed statehood on them to form what we now call a total Yoruba Commonwealth. 14- The dispersion discussed in this book should be seen as deployments of crowns and its attendant new order, rather than the movement of people and population of virgin lands never before lived in as inferred by the author. |
OlaoChi:That's an attachment of falsehood on your part. Go back and read the paragraph and context, not the word. Beside, do you believe in God? Have you seen him? Can you get a degree in God knowledge? No one can....he and his realm are beyond the reach of academic scholarship, no matter how profound. The best we can do is have faith that He is true and exists. Those who are engaged in daily worship of that existence are called Priests...and that's what I referenced. Stop pushing falsehood to score points. |
want2knowben:Those who should grab the ingenuity and multiply its effect are stuck in a rat race, competing and looking for new ways to outshine one another in Euro-centric customs and philosophies. If you want to see them in action, open a thread to analyze any of the Shakespeare's plays, and watch how they soon congregate and blow grammar and pat each other on back about the author. To them Mama Sikira is an illiterate, her rare and artistic stylings were not written about by Skakespeare and is unworthy of their time. Show Ogunde, Ladipo, Ogunmola performing a Yoruba play….our professors of history and language will question the use of rituals and misrepresentation of culture because it is divergent from European and so is backward. They will criticize Ladipo breathing fire to portray Sango and demean it as diabolical. Followup on that and show them Matrix and how Keanu Reeves bend the element to dodge bullets....show them Harry Potter and the Sorcerer....or even Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Their excitement will know no bounds…. Harry Potter became an overnight success because the ingenuity of his plays has multiplying effects. Behind the scenes he is replaying what Yoruba has taken to stage as far back as 1950s and even earlier. Duro Ladipo took Oba Koso to Germany in 1964 and breathed fire on stage and they loved it, they did not criticize it. That success opened new doors for him to tour London, Paris, Switzerland, Brazil, America. Here at home our professors ridicule his value to society. Today, Yoruba has no library of arts or endowments dedicated to preservation of works by the likes of Ogunde, Ladipo and rest. We do not have the structure to reproduce and sustain their creativity. So why do we have Professors of History and Linguistics? Of what benefit are they to our society? I must stress again, just share what you can. In fact I will admonish you not to share all...keep the most valuable of your findings and research work close to your breast and cherish them away from Nairaland, for interaction amongst higher intellectuals that can appreciate, maybe not necessarily agree....but they are awakened by it nonetheless. |
Congratulations! Oye ape lori o! |
@topic. ![]() There is market now for panties oil. It wont be long before we start seeing ads in Nairaland about anointing oils for women's underwear. Even pastors sef will put up billboard inviting young girls to come for special session of underwear anointing, but we know where that would lead. Ahhhh, naija, I hail o ! ![]() |
Obalufon, please modify your post and delete that boy's nonsense. Thanks bro. ![]() |
Something for Atikulators to talk and make noise about this morning so we can plot strategy for Feb in the background without distraction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGp-CcKKfCM |
drlateef:UK has extradition agreement with US. They will never arrest him for extradition normally. What would happen is FBI could sneak in and kidnap him. That's what they did to Manuel Noriega of Panama. They entered Panama and kidnapped the Head of State, took him back with them to Miami and locked up. |
lexy2014:Atiku is not the only Head of Nigerian government that has cheated us. IBB, Abacha, Obasanjo, GEJ, Umaru Dikko, Dasuki, Diezani, and so on and so forth.... IBB tried twice to return and he was disgraced each time. If GEJ try to return to power he will be disgraced. Same goes for Obasanjo. If Dasuki or Diezani try to run for Presidency they will be disgraced. So I dont want you to feel personal about what I said in regard to Atiku. Atiku even disgraced himself ahead of the electorate disgracing him. Do you know Atiku's history? The guy is a scam. In 2006 he left PDP because Umaru Yaradua got the nomination. He was bitter against Yaradua and their family. Back in 1992 however, it was Shehu Yardua, the elder brother, who opened Atiku's eyes to politics. In any case, he left PDP and joined AC to be its candidate. AC gave its ticket to Nuhu Ribadu. Then he wanted to go into a coalition with Buhari in ANPP but after their meeting he rescinded and started flirting with going back to PDP. He did same thing in 2011, after returning to PDP. GEJ got the ticket. Atiku was bitterly upset that he refused to attend inauguration for GEJ. He formed another party called PDM. But in background he had gone back to Buhari to pick up the tatters from their coalition talks that he fled from in 2007. He returned back to PDP and GEJ that he had earlier abandoned. In 2013 Buhari and Tinubu formed APC. They both knew Atiku was not to be trusted after what they have observed in him as politically unstable. He led a rebellion in PDP and formed a nPDP that went to join APC hoping he would get ticket. As was the case in past, he came third behind Buhari and Kwankwaso. In 2017 Tinubu started talking about Buhari running second term. Atiku got the hint and fled back to PDP. Is this the person we are to entrust with the politics of the largest black nation in the world? A greedy, politically unstable, hustler? |
Atiku is a clown.Charity begins at home. How has he starved them in Adamawa? |
Different Nations in the South South region are speaking out one by one against the supposed aggressive claims by Biafrans that the territorial domain now known as South South was indeed dispossessed wrongfully, and that they desire to reclaim and re-integrate it into an independent Biafra. Traditional Chiefs of Bini have spoken out. Scholars and Professionals have published articles against it. Senator of Urhobo nation has also spoken and warned against this trend. The people that truly ought to speak out are Igbo scholars, traditional chiefs, senators, professionals, scholars, businessmen, but unfortunately they are silent and allow their tribesmen to roam wild and create fears amongst their neighbours in the region. This is dangerous. This is almost the baseline that infuriated Northerners last year in their accusations that the elites of Igbo society are tacitly supporting Kanu and their silence is consent for the Biafran cause. I encourage Igbo leaders and elites to meet review this emerging danger and imminent breakdown of trust betwween SE and its neighbours in SS. Their continued silence will feed the fire of suspicion and confirm whispers going round that the elites are not innocent of Kanu's atrocities and drive to obtain foreign assistance to tear SE away and take SS, forcefully, with it. Only Igbo elites can reinject trust and reassurance against the noise of Biafra and how those close to you feel with its insults. Risk management and mitigation is one of the pillars of leadership. There is a risk and intervention should step in and manage it. |
lexy2014:No it is not, and never will be. America is like the police of the world when it comes to fighting crime. We feel cheated by Atiku. We are unable to bring him to justice but America also feel cheated by him. What we cannot do to exact justice, America will do. If he can go and return here we will have nothing else to hold against him. So in absence of any other way to release him from our accusations, he has a burden to prove he did not do us any wrong. That burden is satisfied by the challenge to go enter US, spend few days and return here before election. . |

As I explained above, if US can arrest its own ex-President....what do they care about an ex-VP of Nigeria named Atiku? ![]() |
linearity:You are correct, except one....even US Presidents can go to jail if tried and found in violation of law. Here is how it works...A sitting President of US cannot be indicted by Courts but he/she can be impeached by Congress. The President have the liberty of course to grant himself a self pardon from the impeachment. Here is how he can be arrested, just like you said....but only after he becomes ex-President 1 - Federal prosecutors (usually FBI, which is the law enforcement under DOJ) can bring charges against him/her in a Grand Jury and get indictment. 2 - the state that has jurisdiction in which the crime was committed can issue arrest warrant (if they want to humiliate him/her) and or be civil and simply bring a charge against the ex-President and have him docked for trial. |
May his soul rest in peace. |
Sirjamo:Manual labor in construction sites and or in restaurants are usually paid under the table and cheap because it is sub-contracted staffing and the paper trail is usually not transparent. Occasionally when immigration wants to go after illegal immigrants in US, they will advertise construction jobs, knowing that many undocumented Mexicans will turn up for recruitment. From there it's straight to jail. In same America, they will offer conditional plea bargain to a criminal in order to extract information they need to reel another criminal in. After they get both of them in, they will bait the first one to violate the conditions of his plea bargain. Its easy. They will make an undercover agent his cell mate and get confessions that contradict his earlier denials. That's it! His plea will be nullified and he will end up serving full time after successfully assisting them to nail the other conspirator. Obasanjo sef better be careful. His hand was not clean either, unlike Atiku, he just happened to be smarter than the system. ![]() |
FarahAideed:This is incorrect. Atiku is just one of many people involved in money laundering at various points, involving banks and the American University. Other people involved are his wife, Jemila and Volpi - his partner in Intels. Jemila cannot enter US either. At the time of the offense she was a citizen. Im sure her citizenship is revoked by now. Citizens must enter US soil every so often, and also must file income tax and waivers for foreign earned incomes every year. Her naturalized citizenship would have been revoked by now considering she has not returned in over a decade. If she steps foot in US she will be arrested as well. Volpi paid restitution after he was tried and found guilty. Their case have no remote connection with events of 9/11. |

deji17:That's because US Consulate service is not under the Justice Department. They work together but they are separate jurisdictions and prosecutorial power. US Consulate is under State Department. This explains also why someone could get visa at the Consulate but be turned back at port of entry in complete disregard for the visa approval. Port of entry is controlled by US Immigration and Customs and are under Department of Homeland and Security. Atiku could travel with visa and if his profile flags the wrong color at port of entry they will detain him and send him to a DHS holding facility and then notify Justice that they have him. Justice will send Marshals to go get him and lock up pending his court appearance. Even if he is eventually cleared, the risk exist that he could first be incarcerated pending clarifications. Atiku don buy one chance! Is he travelling with Jamila, or alone? |
want2knowben, Please post a link to Jejeola's work. I'd love to read what he has. Thanks. |
want2knowben:You take any ancient Hebrew root word and vowelize it, it magically turns into Yoruba...right there in your face. The truth is self-bearing, it does not to be sold to people. We have gone through this exercise here many many many times. People are hardened to what was taught them, and are afraid of opening their conscience to fly beyond the limits of the mind. We must sympathize with them, not force or deny their fears. ![]() |
want2knowben, Thanks for your several input. Personally I believe research into Yoruba origin and past must be done via a multi-faceted approach. The oral, written, artwork, spirituality, esoteric cults, religion, cuisine, language, priesthood, kingship, articles of statehood, philosophies like Omoluabi, proverbs and folklores, genetic and immune system, clothing and styling, war and weapons, and so on and so forth....are interesting points that can be inspected. Some of them are outside the scope of what any empirical research or scholarship can discover. For instance if we submit our priesthood to academy to explain they will miss the target because the concept of offering, which is at the root of priesthood, is an esoteric knowledge derived through power of inspiration and contact with nature....it is consistent with faith but inconsistent with the process of logical learning in academy. Therefore, I should forewarn you that you will encounter a heavy push back here from academically planted pre-suppositions that many contributors are incapable of shedding. Do not lock down into a back and forth argument. Just share what you are inspired with and what you know. There are many of us here that have been enlightened through an alternate way of reviewing Yoruba origin, and we will support you. There are many ways, each to his/her own. Keep up the good work! ![]() I'm following you by the way. |
This thread topic is funny. Is she in Church for her own salvation or to belong in membership with VP? |
Lanre0:Saraki is not a good cheerleader, too stiff. I wonder how this campaign is going to look. You need cheerleaders to create excitement and pump people at campaigns. Dino would have been a better cheerleader at rallying people for the campaign than Saraki is. Anyway, Adeleke is there sha. Dino and Adeleke would do it for Atiku. Saraki should be the spokesperson. His role should be swapped with Dino's. ![]() |
