Rossikki: Some guy posted a video of Allen Ave, top Lagos shopping, dining, and banking district and told us to ''enjoy'' the video. But the street is quite deplorable in its infrastructure. The shops, restaurants etc are high class, and deserve far better street infrastructure.
Allen Avenue, Opebi Rd axis needs a MASSIVE OVERHAUL and comprehensive redevelopment.
Allen Ave. should be the Oxford Street of Lagos. A high class shopping area with covered drainage and wide pedestrian sidewalks. The streets are seriously underutilized by way of window shopping and impulse shopping that comes with easy pedestrian movement along the streets, a feature that would draw thousands more people including tourists, to the area each day, increase economic activity and incomes for the businesses on the streets and hence more business tax to the state govt. Win-win situation. Here's how Allen Ave. and Opebi Road should really look today:
With THIS kind of setup above, one could literally spend ALL DAY walking the length and breadth of Allen and Opebi on window shopping and actual shopping/wining/dining. Today, that is unimaginable due to the lack of sidewalks, presence of open drains, sand, etc etc.
We need to step up our game, seriously.
Rossikki, This is nice thread. Things like this we want, to share how we can develop within....rather than relying on instructions packaged as research from UK.
Ok, im not trying to put anyone down but are you aware Marina front in Island used to look like the Oxford street picture you put up there?
No lie! Pictures and stories exist of old Marina. Pictures of old wharf, old UK embassy, David Copperfield, Kingsway, Leventis, old Ministry of External Affairs, old Army HQ, Glover Hall....all the way to the Catholic church, MBHS, General Hospital.
People flooded Lagos and ruined Old Marina.
Allen Avenue would not be immuned from similar ruin if you make an Oxford out of it.
Arguing that "Al" is "The" in Yoruba what dah hell And the contuined mission on Ìrìn being cognate with "Iron"
It's as if when you 4 make claims without having any prior knowledge of the issue, you still keep to the claim when shown how you are wrong but switch the style of argument to using the pieces of the very information newly taught to you that debunks the claim
1. The fact that Yoruba words like Alubọsa, Alukurani, Alubarika with "Al" prefixes serving as "the" in their original Arabic meanings are modern loan words from Arabic through Hausa proves further that indeed Yoruba has no "the" just like other Kwa languages
funny guys. Normally your command of yoruba should be sufficient enough to know and accept this without argument but nah, you already committed so now you can't accept and move on to something else, you must run helter-skelter around this because you know the implications of this fact on your semitic nonsense
2. Now using the several Germanic forms of the word "Iron" when the very fact that the word "Iron" has ancient Germanic and Celtic (Indo-European) origin proves that the word cannot be from Hebrew. It is either one or the other But nah. You already claimed it was Hebrew and you can't accept now that you were wrong
Now its no more just Yoruba - Hebrew connection.. Its now Yoruba - Hebrew - Indo European connection all because you don't want to admit you were wrong to say Ìrìn and Iron are cognates
You can't dismiss the fact but can't accept the fact. What a conundrum. Problem upon Problem
I see you got two likes. Macof, how did this happen?
Now, on a serious note....on the bold, am i seeing right? You projected your bias very openly here. Do the following conform with your conclusion on "Al" being an Arabic cum Hausa loan term?
abode - moderate Alabode - is this Arabic/Hausa? (abode/moderate being cognates)
amodi - ill Alamodi - is this Arabic/Hausa? (amodi/medic being cognate)
akoro - coronet Alakoro - is this Arabic/Hausa? (akoro/coronet being cognate) (ikarawun/crown being cognate)
Here is more....are all these names borrowed from Arab/Hausa ?
Obiri Yeboa is akin to obiri oloja. Yeboa is akin to Oloja, it's a distance memorabilia for Yoba, Yoruba. Of course the Yoruba had their kinsfolk who were native to Togo, the Ana, and possibly there are others.
The tie between Yoruba and the tribes of Ghana is began on the coast, and so the Yoruba kindred in that place were reckoned as nsumfto, that is, people who came ashore from the sea.
The fact remains that the Yoruba had no record of such expenditions, but tradition of the Yoruba had the reminder. Even Agonyin had Yoruba touch, okun le agonyin o we.
Oghán
Agon, iya agon. Compare Iseyin, "ilu ogo kiki egan": Agonyin means praise by some and ridiculed by others. The Egun of Tado, Togo lay in-between. In egun, iron is oghàn, it's homonym for Oghán. The word oghán means leader.
The Yoruba memorabilia for ghana is iganna. In egun, ghanno means the leadership, mother superior. Ghanno can also means operator of machine, The idea is directly from iron derivative.
Semantics
In Yoruba language, Obinrin means female, but literally "metalized" or having metal. On the other hand, okunrin means "male" but literally, "added to metal". It's like iron and steel in that sense.
To have come to this pedestal shows that the Yoruba ancestors had a great understanding of the smelting of iron and other heavy metals at inception, and the philosophy is deposited here.
As we might have known, salted gold is not a pure gold, and steel is carbonized metal. Therefore, Obinrin in the ideology of the founding fathers received the mandate for the emigration.
In literal sense, obinrin means "the original immigrant" and then okunrin implies "back up immigrant". That can be felt in the saying "tin lo ree bawon mule ibudo" or "tin lo ree b'oosa mule"
The interpretations from this is a proof that the visionary leader of the emigrants was a woman, and the missionary back up were men.
If not, the men should have had the land to themselves and not be a missionary to anyone. So that the record would have been tiin lo ree mule ibudo" and "tiinlo ree gbale funra re.
There's this shrine of shighana on board street, Marina, Lagos (it's at a lane somewhere behind the zenith Bank). These wordset are cognates and true reminders of the ewe, (ehufe: ehun-vive) in Yoruba liturgy.
Trans racial and cultural harmony
We have iron as irin in Yoruba. We have been able to get it settled that the word has matching cognates with all it's earliest manifestation in Celtics and Anglo-Saxon variation of the word till date.
Now these folks have neighbors. How about their variant for the same word because just as John Hunter Duvar had opined, iron was a currency of the iron age.
In other words, such cultures whose history trace back to the inception of the iron age could have mindshare that yet survive in their languages till date. Sharing such cognates reveal common hub for the trade.
From old English, isern, isaern, German, isana, Dutch ijza, Celtics isarnom. Someone else should do the job, it's just as Olu has predicted: the cognates are all there, like in the Olu's story about the turkey as tokey or something.
Metaphysical also have a great validation as event now shows, he told us Gersham is ijesha, this place in the Levant lies on the kings highway, the trade route to the Hittites kingdom from India.
This is the corridor of Egyptian civilization and probably the Sinai region was the birthplace of the iron smelting industry, the period coincide with the time history placed the Israelites rise to empire.
Now let's pan out the cognates on the image below, it's clear Israel is a good candidate where iron get into the dialects of the Germanic tongues, which came up much later in world history.
From the list, we can truly understand the fact that Yoruba originated at the peak of the iron age as well. The process of seeing the cognates in the attached image below is such that
1. We can perceive Yoruba like tongues elsewhere in Europe.
2. Mutual agreement of ideas of old on an object of historical reckoning.
3. Further understand that the Yoruba language can help understand Indo-European languages.
4. Likewise, Yoruba could be the missing link to a yet to be determined language of the Levant.
5. The Yoruba had contacts with more languages than most of the languages similar to it.
6. Yoruba hold back historical experience that the list below foreshadow in the background.
7. The list of cognates for iron in Germanic tongues prod Yoruba original home.
I need to come back to this later and digest. But let me ask.....it seems on the coast we say "agon...", wherwas it is called "agan..."
Are the two not the same? If they are same....Yoruba and Tapa share a connection. Yoruba has a totem named Agan and features in many oriki, same with Tapa people.
Indeed in Lagos there is OlorogunAgan.
Olorogun Ado came from Bini to Lagos. Olorogun Agan was created by one of the Obas, it was not a donation from Bini.
Not many people know this but Mafoluku has indigeneous Tapa that settled in with Awori. This is why Igunnu cult is in Mafoluku.
Mafoluku is also next to Oshodi...and Oshodi was a Tapa man.
So there is consistency between Yoruba-Ife, which is the source of Awori, and Tapa nobility.
This Agan appears to stretch from Tapa down to Whydah and other Yoruba-Fon enclaves on the coast.
I am only saying so under assumption that Agon and Agan are same.
gregyboy: Shut up show your potor poto region, igbos now get mouth you nor go fit try this nonsense with edo dem find you fall you, you go fall like fowl wen cold kill
Even the edo boy wen mention nor know who u b for nairaland... Mumu
Yoruba are cowards
See yeye. As we speak i dey Arochuckwu dey learn skills how to ambush.
Dedetwo: If the bolded is remotely correct, it shows the difference in the level of intellect between a citizen of USA and Nigeria. It is on record that many southerners from the confederacy sought the presidency of the Union immediately after the war. As of today, the number of southerners who have become the president of USA dwarfs the number from the northerners yet the northerners won the war. Bath and comb a pig, it shall always remain a pig.
Even tho we understand that Awolowo was the real story. He once said igbos should not be given power till 100 years after the war.. .. ask ibb or Gowan.. Today he’s a rotten idiot that dined with rats... soulless!
Okadigbo told us during his campaign with Buhari in 2003... reason he said that Buhari will hand over to him..
Igbos should know their enemies... 99% of Yoruba hates igbos... they pretend a lot about this.. only that Nigerians hate them more.. Yoruba since 1960 has been pushing this Nigeria hate igbo propaganda.. but e no work...
Igbos are majority in every state after indigenous people and still there’s peace and never for a day have Nigeria experience tribal crises with a tribe and igbos.. yet Yoruba always reminds us how igbos are hated
But Yoruba in their land .. have fought tribes ...
Imagine same Yoruba dominAting non indigenous people in states in Nigeria... dem never leave their enclave yet o.. Nigerians already know the Yoruba in them.
What are you talking about? Stay in ypur Anambra and stop yarning nonsense.
True Igbo people know who Yoruba is and they love us we love them.
You Anambra people are confused. You were conquered by Bini, conquered by Igala, conquered by Arochuckwu. Now you are confused. You dont know who your enemy is.
Dont get between Yoruba and true Igbo. Stay in your lane in Anambra.
The truth is that no vice president has ever become president. Anybody thinking that becoming a vice president will automatically translate to becoming a president may be referring to another country, not Nigeria. Even when Jonathan eventually became president, he was an executive president; we went into the election as an incumbent for two years. Once you have that in mind, you may want to think about stretching your luck or optimism so far. We are looking at eight years and don’t forget that PDP has never made any commitment to Ndigbo since 1999.
In 2015, they didn’t hesitate to zone to the North; so, why can’t they now say they have zoned to the South-east in 2027? They are afraid to make commitment because they made the decision that no Igbo man will become president until 150 years. That is the original policy of the PDP. If people don’t know, let me say it again that president Obasanjo called me into his study in April 2003 and we discussed so many issues. One of the ones that I took away with a heavy heart was when he told me that Nigeria is a very tolerant country for allowing someone from an area that wanted to break away to become vice president barely nine years after the way.
Should anything had happened to Shehu Shagari, Alex Ekwueme would have become president and that it could not happen in other countries. Now, look at me, Chief Okorie, you went and brought someone who led the secessionist programme to become the presidential candidate with all entreaties – by doing that, you have committed a political sin. The moment you did that, your party APGA became a national security issue.
So, every problem in APGA emanated from that very discussion. Then he asked me this rhetorical question: do you know that it took 150 years before somebody from southern part of America became the president of America after the American civil war. I said yes, the person is Jimmy Carter and he is still alive. He said okay, you are conversant with your history; so you should be able to know where your people belong.
This was Obasanjo and he was talking about the script of the PDP and our people don’t see it. So, if I am alive and know what I know and allow myself die and be buried with it, even God will not accept me in Paradise.
Have you divulged this information to your people at any forum?
I have done town hall meetings in many parts of the country. There is hardly any Igbo Congress I have not presented a paper – in America, Europe and other parts of the world. That is why they feel the only one they have standing is now going the other way. But many of them are seeing that it is in their best interest. It is too late in the day for me to go against my people. I have fought the Igbo cause for 42 good years since Ohaneze was founded. I was there from the very beginning.
Only four original founders or foundation members of Ohaneze are alive today. They are Chief Uwazurike amechi in his 80s, elder Onyeso Nwachukwu, 95 years old, Anayo Ezukpe, a medical doctor, in his 80s. I am in my 60s because I joined at a young age. I was the one running the errands. I have been a member of the elders’ council or Imeobi of Ohaneze from the inception of that Council. Till today, that is the policy-making body of Ohaneze. There is no way they can decide anything and I will not know about it.
Rossikki, you hear that? Im now a bonafide Republican in Igboland. If Dede, a Veteran of Biafran rebellion, confer me with the honor, who are you to complain? Which war did you fight?
Can you not be reasonable for once? How many combat helicopters does Nigeria operate? I leant that MI-24 trainer crashed in Borno or Bauchi State not long ago. Nigerians are so out of it that a person can see the situation on their forehead.
My brother, I dey your backyard o dey chop ugu and ukazi on top amala.
Even if na half the helicopter we designate as combat helicopter, and the other half na farm sprayer....it is still a combat helicopter and na Tolu be the first Nigerian girl to pilot one.
Olu317: Lol. Seriously, I can't waste my energy on someone who thinks, he knows more than I am but practically empty. Nigeria is the only place, where I see a lay man claims he has knowledge on what he doesn't! This is shocking to me but I know that a haughty spirit dwell heavily in such people's heart in such a way that Macof represent these people in that capacity. So how do I go along with such a person? This is Practically impossible but I have to show the dormant members whose intebruon to learn and not someone known with vulgar words, yet he claims, he is Iwa worshipper! Thus show that lying seeker of Hebrew knowledge is absolutely ignorant on the path he seeks.
Howbeit, Barzel is accepted as Iron by the English language interpreters because of their understanding of the Septuagints information which I found out as not in existence within Yoruba's lexicon until I realise that the word are combination of descriptive process. Barzel ,sjmply broken down as :
Ba- bend
Ri(ry)- iron
Zan- (Z-English of England origin)S-English of America's origin) zi or si- existing
el- mighty
In Yoruba's:
Ba : bend
Ri: iron
Si : exist
ele: strong
This word is a description of a particular iron which is , ‘ bend or create a mighty or strong iron'; iron made as a weapon. This is the purpose of the descriptive word for this particular iron. So, I know, he thinks Barzel is not same as cognate with Yoruba's description of iron, which I mock that lad because he practically thinks, I am philander of pseudo writing he does.
Sincerely, I mock at Macof ignorance because, he thinks, Classic Hebrew are for antagonist or ignorant lot,who pick words out of ignorance without understandings the descriptive nature of the classic Hebrew language or Yoruba's.
Note:
You do have a great point in all your information, which I learn some tangible information but an isolate language which is non existence in the world is importantly a language one wboy claims it exist must be vastly read to prove the existence of the root words, ideographs , obelisks or Alphabets exists in such language, if it is actually true cognates. This is what I have been doing and will be shown to the world at the right time because, it is real. This platform is a tip of the iceberg.
Cheers.
Olu, I'm glad you are beginning to see Yoruba concepts in the material and in the spiritual. When I first outlined the connection between Masjid and Sigidi, you responded and denounced it. You just used the same approach for Barzel. In fact, if you push further into that interpretation for Iron you will discover some other features of its connection with Yoruba knowledge......it will de-crypt itself.
In Greek alphabets, each sound has a material and a spiritual. Sound has always been a spiritual force anyway....they found cognates for it in the material. When you look at Hebrew, it is same thing. Yoruba is similarly rooted. It is unfortunate for us that linguists, such as macof, are wasting time regurgitating a century old Kwa theory instead of moving us into future and expanding the hidden energies in our alphabets. If they would do this for us, without being dismissive and suspicious of its esoteric discoveries, there is no reason Yoruba could not pioneer inventions and advance into new technological age.
Just take a look at this -
In Legends of the Jews, the Conservative rabbi and scholar Louis Ginzberg wrote that the worship of the golden calf was the disastrous consequence for Israel who took a mixed multitude in their exodus from Egypt. Had not the mixed multitude joined them, Israel would not have been misled to worship this molten idol. The form of the calf itself came from a magical virtue of an ornament leaf with the image of the bull which is made by Aaron.[6]
The devotion of Israel to this worship of the calf was partly explained by a circumstance at passing through the Red Sea, when they beheld the most distinct creature about the Celestial Throne which is the resemblance of OX , then they thought it was an ox who had helped God in their journey from Egypt
Substitute OX with Oxa...or Osha. This indicates the worship of calf was started by Israelites but it was inspired by their encounter of Oxa on the celestial throne.....ancient descriptive for the bright night sky. This Oxa was an helper of God. So they believed in this Oxa and started worshipping it in the image of the calf. There is both material scale and spiritual link here. They did not recreate the Ox, instead they created a mini version...a Calf! They accepted Oxa as an intermediary. By worshipping his son, the Calf, they earn his (Oxa) pleasure and benevolence. But Israelites did not speak English and would not have known the words Ox and Calf. In Semitic tongue Ox is Aleph, Calf is Heifer.
ALEPH has become a phenomenon in science and religious arts.
Look, no be everything person go open mouth say for here jare.
TAO11: Yes that's so true! The Edo people whom the Yoruba-Oba of Benin rule over are not freeborns.
The Yoruba monarch decides if the men and women should wear clothes or not.
I need Babaramo to show us relationship between Yoruba rulers and EDO slaves. It doesnt tell the story well when I post it. That man is raw with it, he knows how to make a picture say a thousand words.
“the Benin people ... are treated as slaves by the king, the title of king's slave being considered an honour." ... the mass of the people were practically slaves to the king, and those who were not to the king were so to their chiefs."
This explains why EDO even in adulthood, male and female, must first get the pleasure and permission of palace before they can wear clothe and cover body. They do not own themselves. They are not freeborn.
StaffofOrayan: EVERY country in the world has bright people, Do u know the population of Germany when they brought the world to its knees? Answer my question, what is Nigeria's 10 year plan? Nigeria is perhaps the last country on earth without direction. Even North Korea has a plan!
Germany too far sef. Talk about Ghaddaffi's accomplishments in the deserts of North Africa. He accomplished all that without any European interference....and while under heavy sanctions from US. The man had a plan and he executed it. They killed his successes. Look where Libya is today? Their citizens have turned to beggars in the desert. Why? Because UK and US had a study and a projection for their future. A FUTURE TO NOWHERE! I refuse to be intelligent.......my native sense is sufficient!
Rossikki: Stop talking like an illiterate. ''The UK media'' did not conduct the research. That is not their job or training. You couldn't even take the time to find out who did the research before commenting your negativity. Why should anyone take you and your intellectual laziness and negativity seriously? You're useless to the discussion.
What is there to read? What research? Ol'boy, the study is meant for engineered minds like you. My native sense is still very much intact. If not believing in lies from UK makes me unitelligent, I wear that badge proudly.
StaffofOrayan: Do u know the population of Britain when they colonized the world? It's about quality not quantity, can u tell me Nigeria's 20 year plan? Or even 10 year plan or 5 The young people that would make Nigeria a powerhouse, what plans are being made for their future? Una mumu never reach?? Abi den born u as mumu?
He is looking for visa to UK. When he presents his social media handle they will find this and see him as an ally.
Rossikki: Nigeria is not being ''praised'' in the report. All they are doing is making a projection based on current economic and population growth rates.
You see it as ''praise'' because you already have a low opinion of the country, and expect any predictions to be dire and negative. Leave your negative mindset behind and you will see clearer.
They did not start projection today. Is that not UK media.....and is UK not our colonial ruler? They should stop making failed projections.
Yebosola: Uhmmm some people are just too deranged and very very wicked in their thought against Yorubas, we are not the architect of your misfortune in life.
Im telling you! This is national tragedy and see how Ibo respond. If this girl was Hausa/Fulani Ibo governors will by now be tripping over each other, buying front page to express sorrow and condolence.
DemonInvoker: First visited Abiriba as a child(12yrs Old), Abiriba,Ohafia and Arochukwu( Abam) People Share Boundaries. I'm 34yrs Old now and I still haven't seen the Kind of Houses I saw there in any other Nigerian Village. Some of the Biggest Houses(Triplexes) I ever saw in my entire life with Swimming pools and Fuel Filling Stations Pumps inside. The mighty Gates mounted at the front of some of those houses alone will run into millions.
Of course they will share boundaries. They eat same kind of meat!
