That people still use words like 'colonial master' in reference to the UK is emblematic of the ingrained inferiority complex plaguing the average Nigerian, and their leaders..

Countries like the UK, France etc are relatively small countries on an irreversible long term decline, yet, Nigerian leaders are still fixated on what these countries think or say about us.

Even with the current situation in Nigeria, this is a big country, with the largest economy in Africa. Countries like France, UK, or organisations like the EU can do absolutely nothing against Nigeria. They simply don't have the economic might. They need us more than we need them, but we don't know it, because we have very poor leaders.

It is frustrating that every year, a small country like the UK or France can call over 40 African leaders to London or Paris for so-called UK-Africa or France - Africa summit, and you see silly African leaders rushing there and being hoarded into a hall to be lectured. Of course, our own leader is usually one of the first to turn up and mark register. Yet, none of these leaders ever demand that these summits also take place in Africa.

Can France or the UK summon all Asian or South American leaders?

Africans leaders mostly have no sense of worth.

Now, every presidential candidate is jostling to go to Chatham house in London to explain their plans for Nigerians, and then the media and the populace here spend weeks endlessly analysiing every sinew of what a candidate says at Chatham house. Do UK politicians come to Abuja to explain their plans for their people?

Atiku went to France, PDP proclaimed that he was 'invited to meet Nigeria's international partners.' At the end of the day, what we saw was a solitary picture of him sitting around a coffee table with what seemed like two 25 year old admin officers who looked like they had no idea why they were asked to meet Atiku. No French minister, not even a junior one, had the time to meet him. Yet, PDP was happy that he was at least pictured with 2 white people.

Obi snapped a laughable and cringe worthy photograph in front of EU building in Brussels. There was no evidence that he had any meeting with EU officials. Yet, the picture was trumpeted by the Labour party as proof that Mr Obi was 'engaging with international leaders and organisations'.

Tinubu does Chatham House, and the reverberation, analysis and counter analysis is still going on till today, with intense disagreements amongst diverse party supporters about Mr Tinubu's performance. Infact, to this day, Arise TV has not stopped bringing on 'experts' for endless dissection of 'Tinubu at Chatham House'.

Yet, in the UK, 99.9% of the populace don't know anything about Chatham House, and have probably not heard the name before. It is a largely insignificant institute in the UK, but here, we are obsessed with it. We have now made it a compulsory pre-election pilgrimage for our presidential candidates to talk to us from this institute located in a foreign country.

We have elevated these countries to a level they can't even believe. Why should the opinion of an American president or any foreign leader influence how we vote here. Every day we scrutinise every news to see if America or Europe is supporting any candidate. If we see even the most remote sign, we start celebrating for that candidate. Is America or Europe feeding you, paying your house rent, or if you have children, paying their school fees? Why do we desire their affirmation so much. What is their business with our election. Do Brazilian, Indian, or Egyptian presidential candidates travel abroad desperately seeking white man's approval before contesting election?

I think anytime we see any sign of interference from the US, France,UK or indeed any country with how we vote and who we vote for, we should, irrespective of the candidate you support, come together to demand they butt out or else we mount pressure on the government to impose sanctions on them.

Yes, Nigeria can impose sanctions on even the USA, let alone declining minnows like France and the UK. We just don't have the right leaders.

Restricting it doesn't mean it shouldn't be taxed. It's just a way of discouraging it because of the high volatility of the market and the unknown actors behind it.

Most of us who are into crypto will tell you the Government has been vindicated. More than 99% of investors have lost over 90% of their investment in crypto..Market has been bleeding for over a year now and the blood is still fresh and running.

I won't forget the day I woke up to see my investment of a million naira dropped to less than 50k. My own sef small..You need to see how a friend could not eat well for days because his own dropped from around 11million to less than 100k.

Well, all these story no concern Government. That tax must be paid. Tax and death are the only certain things in life

Family / Re: My Wife Hates My Step-Daughter. Please Help by Mftivi: 12:12pm On Nov 30, 2022
Gudfadah:
Good evening nairaland.

I am a married man and I have six children. When I met with my first wife she was a single mother of 1 girl she was a years 6 months we got married when she was 5 years old.
We had 3 children together making them 4 unfortunately we lost her in 2016 during the birth of our twins.

Before she passed on she asks me to promise her that if anything happened to her I should never send her daughter back to her family to experience the same thing she went through in there hands.
I have promised her that the child is mine and she will never go anywhere the day she will leave my house will be on her wedding day.
I have also promised her that nothing will happen to her and we will grow old together. Unfortunately we lost her and I have continued being a father to all four children and I have never treated my step daughter differently.

I have since remarried and we are blessed with twins. When I met with my current wife I didn't tell her that my step daughter is not my biological child she knew she was my first child.
She has been a part of me ever since she was 1 plus and I didn't think it was necessary telling my wife she was not my child.

She was treating all four children good until my wicked aunty has spill the beans which I have apologised for not telling her in the first and I have asked her to continue being a good mother she was before knowing the truth.
But she refused saying I didn't tell the truth and the child should go and leave with her mom family. I have explained to her the reason why she cannot stay with them to no avail and I ask her not to tell the child the truth but she has told her.

It wasn't easy for her knowing the truth she asks me if I will take her back to her mom people I said no. She is still my child and she will not go anywhere and I will resolve the problem very soon.

Unfortunately my wife has totally changed so much toward the child and I hate coming home seeing her crying all the time. She feel insecure in the house knowing that she is not the biological child of the house.

Talking to my wife was to no avail she has insist that the child must go back to her mother family or they will be not peace.

I reported the problem to her people nothing was done and we are still dealing with the same thing everyday.

Honestly speaking I hate being in such a messy situation but I will not send her back to her mom family she is my first child and I have made a promise to my late wife that the day the child will leave my house it will be the day she will get married.
Since my wife want her to leave and the child is already depresses.
I have come to conclusion I will not divorce her but I will rent a 2 bedroom apartment for her to be staying with the twins while I continue staying with the four children in my house I owe the house.

I haven't told her anything about my decision yet and I want to know if getting her own house will help the situation. This is where I need your advice nairalanders what do I do in this situation?

my brother she's wicked but it's a complicated issue now so not easy to say let your wife go, I'll resort to prayers over that spirit of wickedness instead especially because of all the children.

And he said [the] Apostles; it’s a matter of belief but many Christians are now doubting whether or not to believe these Apostles simple because they claimed to have received inspiration to write on behalf of God!

pay no attention to this thread, john 3:16 God so loved the world he gave his only son whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. It says who believes not who does not sin, it's impossible not to sin as a man that's why Jesus died so that not sinning won't be the qualification but faith in Jesus hence the reason Jesus told the thief who was hung beside him that he will take him to paradise just because the thief asked!

I love and would always support the United States.

But I must say here that Putin fell for their Trap.

The United States have been planning to divert the European countries from Russian gas to American gas for a long time without success.

But since Putin's invasion of Ukraine, their plan is seeing the light of day.

Nord Stream 2 is dead and buried
. Even Nord Stream 1 is on life support and may die a natural death if Germany and other EU countries can source for gas supply from other places.

Putin never saw this coming....

He was banking on division in the reaction among NATO and Western countries in response to his invasion.

If Donald Trump was President, that would be possible but not with Joe Biden as President.

Joe Biden is known as a Unifier. He is known for bringing different parties with different opinion to the table and coming up with a compromise plan of action.

Putin underestimated the European Union

Putin underestimated the old man in the oval office.

Putin's Russia fell for the trap that America has set for the Russian economy for a long time.

We are likely heading for a prolonged battle in Ukraine and with news like this, then the Russian economy would be severely dehydrated.... cheesy
