PoliticsRe: Less Talk, More Action: Russian Jets Destroy ISIS Hqs, Tanks, Munition Depots – by michaelwilli(m): 1:51pm On Oct 09, 2015
agora4now:
It’s been a tough week for terrorists in Syria. Over seven days Russia delivered over a hundred airstrikes at various jihadist facilities across the country, reportedly igniting panic among some groups.
Trends
Russian anti-terror op in Syria
Russia launched its air campaign in Syria on September 30, making 120 combat sorties that hit 110 targets in just over a week, according to the Defense Ministry. Among the objects destroyed are:

71 armored vehicles
30 other vehicles
19 command facilities
2 communication centers
23 depots with fuel and ammunition
6 plants used to make IEDs, including car bombs
several artillery pieces
several training camps
At least 112 #ISIS objects destroyed by Russian military since start of operation week ago http:///ZbDWJW1hnNpic.twitter.com/UWNRDOwCds

'Terrorists on the run'
The apparent goal of this phase of the operation is to undermine the militants’ capability to keep the pressure on government forces through constant raids and terrorist attacks, and to give the Syrian Army a breathing space to regroup and launch an offensive.

The targets of the Russian airstrikes were spread across Syria, from ISIS stronghold Raqqa in the northeast to the vicinity of the ancient city of Palmyra west of the Damascus-controlled western part of the country to the outskirts of Damascus in the south.

According to the Russian military, the bombing campaign has hurt the morale of the militant troops, sending thousands on the run.

Top Guns
Russia’s fleet of jets is varied as well. The core of it consists of well-tried workhorses like the Su-24 frontline bomber and the armored Su-25 ground-support fighter jet. Both planes were designed decades ago, although the Air Force brought the latest upgraded versions for the Syrian campaign.

Newer planes are also there, like the Su-34, which entered service in Russia last year. The Syrian theater offers Russian engineers a test-field to try the plane, which can hit targets from an altitude of 5,000 feet, far from the range of anti-aircraft weapons in the possession of the militants.

The Air Force is employing a number of bombs in the missions, from sophisticated and expensive laser-guided Kh-25Ls and steerable KAB-250s to the bunker-busting BETAB-500s free-falling and affordable FAB-500s. The variety means Russia can strike with pinpoint precision where necessary and bombard with devastating force where no collateral damage would be done.

Mission control
Russia’s Syrian mission flies from a hastily reconstructed airbase south of Latakia. Just a couple of months ago it was an abandoned airfield, but now it sends dozens of sorties daily and hosts not only some of the most high-tech fighter jets on the planet, but also serves as a home for Russian combat pilots, technicians and support troops. Syrian soldiers and officers are at the base to help coordinate the war effort.

In addition to the aircraft used for reconnaissance and bombing, the base has plenty of capabilities to defend itself. Mil Mi-24s patrol the vicinity ready to hit any militants intent on firing portable surface-to-air missiles at the Russian planes. Tanks and other armor complete with commando troops are prepared to repel a massive raid.

Advanced Pantsir-S1 air defense vehicles and Krasukha-4 electronic warfare systems are covering the airspace – a contingency for third parties attempting to interfere with the Russian operation.

Blunders and fakes
The air campaign so far has had the odd glitch. Ankara said Russia invaded its airspace twice over the week. Moscow said it would make corrections to the combat missions to avoid such incidents. NATO officials blasted Russia for “unacceptable violations,” to cite Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, but Turkey appears to have allowed such mistakes so far.

Of more serious concern are complaints by some western officials that Russia is targeting west-backed rebel troops in Syria and may even end up killing CIA agents in the field. Russia insists that it only targets terrorist troops and demonstrated how the militants use mosques and other civilian objects to protect their weapons from Russian attacks. Such tactics cannot be employed by truly moderate forces, the Russian Defense Ministry noted.

Numerous reports of civilian casualties caused by Russia have so far not been corroborated by any trustworthy sources. Footage and photos allegedly proving such allegations were disproven on many occasions as taken even before the campaign was launched.

The Defense Ministry meanwhile was unexpectedly forthcoming by providing footage of the strikes and access to the Russian troops stationed in Syria. The military is dropping its old over-cautious stance on secrecy, and is trying to make the campaign as transparent as possible.

What’s next
After a week of fighting ISIS in Syria, Russia is escalating its effort. On Wednesday, the Russian Navy lent a hand to the campaign by firing dozens of cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea at terrorist targets in Syria.

And Iraq may soon invite Russia to start attacking ISIS troops on Iraqi soil, stepping up the level of cooperation Baghdad has with Moscow, Damascus and Tehran.
And when iran becomes a part of this, gonna b fkin sweet
FamilyRe: He Said NO To A Quiet Wedding!!! by michaelwilli(m): 1:39pm On Oct 09, 2015
shugga:
Hello house I need your views on this please.

There's a young man have been seeing, getting to 3months now. Recently we got talking deep and I realise he wants something serious, along the line I discover we have different views about certain issues, he tends to be the typical traditional man that just follow the norms of life without having a cogent reason for doing so, I mean all those click that follow the trend.

For instance we got talking about the kind of marriage ceremony to be considered, he told me he wants an elaborate wedding the kind the guests will go back and reminisce, that even if it means him borrowing to achieve that he doesn't mind.

This is someone working as a credit officer in a micro finance bank oh with slightly above 50k pay.
Me on the other hand would prefer a quiet wedding something like an indoor tm and a court/church wedding, he was like then I'm not his kinda woman.

I went ahead to explain to him the risk of having a marriage above your means but he wasn't ready to buy into such.
I personally want don't want an elaborate wedding cos through out my hard times have discovered that no one in this life cares for real, they only care when they have one thing or the order to gain from you even the immediate family isn't exempted.

When I was working friends and family flocked around and I was fooled to be believe they care not knowing it was cos I had what they wanted and I'm this type that I can't harden my heart towards people suffering, I can even sacrifice my last kobo for someone in need. These days my phone hardly rings and even those that say hi on whatsapp go religious and end the chat a moment they realise you're still jobless.

So of what gain should I entertain people that don't care if I breathe or not, even if my man has the means I will prefer he invest it or we use the money to enjoy life to the fullest.

I don't just like it when people do things just cos everyone else is doing them, I must have my reasons before doing a particular thing, that's me!!!

So dear Family is my reason for wanting a quiet wedding flimsy?
All this that has happened is enough reason for you not to marry him. You'll live a life of indebtedness if you marry him since he doesn't bother borrowing money to fund his wishes. I beg you, don't marry him, the consequences won't be funny. You'll one day be used as collateral

PoliticsRe: The South West Is Homogeneous Only On Paper, How Many Ethnic Groups Are They? by michaelwilli(m): 1:35pm On Sep 05, 2015
patrick89:
I have come to realise that South west is very diverse, they comprise of different ethnic nationality but conquered and dominated by yorubas. The word yoruba to me seems to be a unifying coinage just like Anioma, to bring bring all different ethnic nationals together.
However, unlike Anioma, different ethnic nationals in South west have nothing in common, aside that, they adopted yoruba language as a lingual franca..
among them are 1. Aworis : they occupy some parts of ogun state lagos and ondo state they have different culture and background, they have stated that they are not yorubas 2. The ijebus are fierce and aggressive, they have also affirmed that they migrated from sudan, so they can not be regarded as yorubas, 3. The Egun, they are found in Benin republic, lagos, Ogunn state and some part of oyo state. They have nothing in common with yorubas both in culture and language, they are the only one still tied to their traditional, maybe because they are very conservative.
others are ekiti, egba, ife, etc all these ones have aligned fully to the big family yoruba. but the question is who is the pure yoruba, because I hear people describe some with funny tags and names.. I need a very serious clarification here
Shey e pain u or are u an ethnic bigot or another wailing wailer?
Nigeria is very diverse, dnt take paracetamol on empty stomach

have been a fan of tecno since their birth until i discovered that tecno is a scam yes i said it tecno is a scam.

to make the story short i bought a tecno flagship phone the almighty phantom z last year and believe me the phone is superb with a good display but considering the price i bought it 59k it supposed to worth it. fast forward to 2015 the phone still remains a flagship tecno phone because no other tecno beats it's spec but how can such a flagship phone still runs kitkat even when lollipop is now rampant on Chinese brands like infinix gionee etc. considering the amount i bought the phone i think I deserve a lollipop update instead of making customers money valuable to them they are busy producing scrap in the name of phone while their media paid hypers will hype the Useless scrap to the extent of comparing c8 to iPhone (abomination)
well in the end i have to sell my over priced phantom z which i bought 59k not less than 1 year as low as 29k and right now am a proud user of infinix hot note pro updated from 4.4 to 5.1 (that's value of money)

please don't tell me that tecno is cheap thus update are not necessary because infinix gionee are also more cheaper but are churning out updates for their customers that's what I call value of money.

if you want to buy a phone with sure ota update go for

gionee (best when it comes to Ota)

infinix(happy they kept their promise)
You'll soon get frustrated by lollipop. And you'll wish you never sold that phantom.

PoliticsNigeria Police Confirms Senate “standing Order” Used To Elect Saraki was forged by michaelwilli(op): 6:05pm On Jul 26, 2015
The Nigeria Police have concluded their probe into the forgery of the Senate Standing Order and given a copy of the report to President Muhammadu Buhari,SUNDAY PUNCH can authoritatively report.Inspector general of Police, Solomon Arase
The President received a copy of the report last week, a highly reliable source in the presidency told one of our correspondents on Saturday.
The Police report confirmed that the Standing Rules used to inaugurate the 8th Assembly were forged, our source said.
In the report, the Police recommended the prosecution of those found culpable of forging the orders, which had been used in the controversial election of the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, on June 9, 2015.
The report was said to have indicted the management of the National Assembly, especially the Clerk, Salisu Maikasuwa and recommended the prosecution of the suspects.
Acting on a petition by Senator Sulaiman Hunkuyi (All Progressives Congress, Kaduna State), the Police had on July 6 quizzed Ekweremadu and Maikasuwa over an alleged forgery of the standing orders.
The petition alleged that some parts of the 2015 Senate Orders were different from the one ratified by the 6th Senate in 2010, which was used by the 7th Senate, as Standing Orders 2011.
The Police, on the strength of the petition, had subsequently quizzed the leadership of the 7th Senate, including former Senate President, Senator David Mark; his deputy (now Saraki’s deputy), Ike Ekweremadu; former Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba; and the former Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business, Senator Ita Enang.
The Clerk to the National Assembly, Maikasuwa, who is the custodian of the Senate Standing Order was also invited for questioning by the police.
According to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, handed over copy of the investigative report to Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja last Sunday.
The source said, “I can confirm to you that the President has a copy of the Police’s investigation report on the Senate forgery and I can also authoritatively tell you that the report confirmed that the Senate rules were forged. Notable among those recommended for prosecution in the National Assembly is the Clerk because he is the one that keeps the Standing Orders.”
When asked if the Directorate of Public Prosecution had received a copy of the Police report, the source said he couldn’t confirm that.
SUNDAY PUNCH’s study of the controversial 2015 Senate Standing Orders, Rule 3, as contained on page four of the document, which has to do with the election of presiding officers, had shown that it is different from the 2011 Senate Order.
Rules 3(e) (i) and (ii) have been included in the 2015 document to accommodate electronic voting and secret ballot, whereas secret ballot and ballot papers were not specifically mentioned in the 2011 Standing Orders.
The Senate Order 3 (e) (ii) of 2011 states, “Voting shall be conducted by the Clerks-at-the Table, using the Division List of the Senate with the Tellers in attendance. The Clerk of the Senate shall submit the result of the division to the Clerk of the National Assembly.
“(iii) The Clerk shall then declare the Senator-elect who has received the greater number of votes, elected as President of the Senate.”
The same section in the 2015 Senate Order however reads, “Voting by secret ballot which shall be conducted by the Clerk-at-Table using the list of the Senators-elect of the Senate, who shall each be given a ballot paper to cast his vote with the proposers and seconder as Teller. The Clerk of the Senate shall submit the result of the voting to the Clerk of the National Assembly who shall then declare Senator-elect who has received the highest number of votes as Senate President-elect.”
Apart from the ‘alteration’ to the procedure for election, Order 95 of the 2011 rule on the chairmanship and membership of the committees is also different in the 2015 version.
In the 2011 document, provisions in Order 95 read, “The membership of all committees shall not be less than 11 and not more than 13 senators. (2) No senator shall serve in more than three committees (3) No committee chairman shall serve in more than one other committee.”
However, a new insertion in the amended version reads, “The appointment of Senators as Chairmen and members of committees shall be carried out in such a manner as to reflect the six geopolitical zones of the country and there shall be no predominance of senators from a few geo-political zones.”
In SUNDAY PUNCH’s exclusive report on the scandal, which was published on July 19, some senators who served in the 7th Senate had disowned the 2015 edition of the Senate Standing Orders (as amended).
Similarly, members of the current 8th Senate across parties had also denied being part of any amendment process.
The senators, who were from both the ruling All Progressives Congress and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, said they were not aware of any amendments to the 2011 Senate Standing Orders.
For instance, Senator Victor Lar (PDP, Plateau-South) had declared, “As of the time we left the (7th) Senate, there were no alterations (to the Senate Standing Orders).”
Also, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business in 7th Senate, Senator Ita Enang, stated that the Standing Orders that was used and closed within the 7th Senate was the Standing Orders that should have been used for the inauguration of the 8th Senate.
Enang, who was in the PDP when he was in the Senate but later defected to the APC, had stated, “I made proposal for amendments between 2011 and 2015, I laid the report on the floor, but we did not consider the report. We did not amend the Standing Orders.
“Before we left, I had approved the reprinting of the Standing Orders and the reprinting did not include inserting anything which was not in the old one. Reprinting is, simply reproduce what we have because there are no more copies.”
Some senior legal practitioners had told SUNDAY PUNCH that forging a document like the Standing Rule of the Senate was a felony, which, according to them, is a criminal offence against the state that attracts a penalty of three years jail term, a fine or both.
However, when contacted on Saturday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, did not confirm if the President had received a copy of the report.
“The Police are still working on the report. Investigation is still going on,” he said.
Director (Information), Federal Ministry of Justice, Mr. Charles Nwodo, responding to an inquiry by one of our correspondents on Saturday night also said he was not aware of the if the DPP had received a copy of the report.
