InvertedHammer: /. A few weeks ago when Spyder880 needed some input in a design he is building, I mentioned two gentlemen here he could reach out to for modification. It was an honest assessment of the work they showed here in my opinion. A project came up and I recommended your name in similar fashion. It seems that you did a good job in your assignment. Then I got this call yesterday. You gave a quotation for another job(burglar proof). There was a delay and you reminded him that there will be variation in prices due to inflation. He asked you to fix the prices to reflect the changes for immediate mobilization. Along the line you requested and got the number of the man doing the Alumaco fix. You wanted the Alumaco man to alter his measurements and make the windows a little bit smaller so that both of you can make more profit. The Alumaco man vehemently told you off that he doesn't conduct his business that way. Now...why would you go behind your client to try to alter measurements in a bid to cheat him? He didn't say that you scammed him but your integrity is called to question. I had to wade in to talk to the Alumaco guy and he corroborated the story. I wish I can post the voice recording here. Meanwhile, I take full responsibility for this as I was the one that talked gleefully about your work as if I know you. But I learned my lesson. Integrity! Integrity!! Integrity!!! / wow. Seriously is this what you were told. Here's my chat with him attached. I was the one who asked for the number of the alumaco guy because I needed to get his own measurements to work with bearing in mind that his own measurements was what will be used as final measurements. I told him that as a welder, I can measure a job only for the alumaco guy to adjust it to suit him. Any builder here who has worked with both a welder and alumaco guy will know what am saying that during plastering and hanging, the size of window is adjusted. My measurement was before plastering. Please even if I have plans to adjust his measurements to make more profits, will I discuss it with the house owner like I did? Attached are my chats with the person

PAPAFEELERS: The height of the building is 36ft and its a 2 storey building then you should do 36ft tall tank. Anything above that and the tank will look like a child that wear "oversized clothes" for Christmas. 36ft plus 1ft which will come from the base foundation is enough to give the water maximum pressure Take a look at the attached picture

PAPAFEELERS: 2 tanks of 2,000 liters and 1,500 liters respectively. budget 750,000. Initially I thought you were doing for commercial purposes that carries at least six tanks. But what's the height of the building that will need 40ft. Kindly note that you need at least three storey building to use this type of height |

KolaShangOne: Been following your thought process with @skimanski My own opinion here..
I think what mechanization does is to Increase Efficiency, reduce cost of labour in the LONG RUN, reduce safety risk
Basically, in terms of comparative cost, machines are better. But you have to consider project size, economy, client and price of labour just like @skimanski said.
-These machines cost ALOT to buy and maintain -They need trained professionals to operate them at a cost.
You cannot expect me to move into a site with equipments running into millions of naira into a site where the BABA IJEBU wants to pay so low.
Oga @ericko2k2 and other people living in the diaspora, you know that Technicians charge you per hour, right? Convert that 50-100$ per hour to Naira and I know damn well you can't pay it here..
For the example of a tiler, you expect a Nigerian tiler who has taken pain to buy a laser lever, a spirit level or some other expensive machine and then price him at 200 per sqm and expect a flawless job. But there will always be someone else to do it for cheaper and that's what you get with fallen parapets n so on.. What you pay for is what you get.
I have experience in Robotics and Automation. When experts are flown in, they spend 2hrs on the machine, take 5 hours to smoke in the open and they are done with work for that day taking home 7hours pay.
We know it's hard to make those dollars in the West but the way we expect things to work here while condemning our underpaid artisans is bad.
The DIY process is actually the way forward. It will save you lots of cost this is so apt. Anytime you're in Nnewi, I go buy you drinks |

_______ Conflict is pretty much inevitable when we work with others.
When two people involved in a business transaction oversteps the mark of healthy difference of opinion, resolving conflict requires respect and patience - a clear sign of maturity.
As we grow, we must learn to control our emotions, perceptions, and actions whenever conflict arise. We must learn to deal with facts and avoid talking outside context as it allows conflict to build and fester, without being dealt with directly.
Lastly, it takes emotional maturity to prioritize the health of the relationship over the ego-feeding need to be right.
Many thanks to all the valuable contributors on this matter. Your difference makes a difference.
Together we can make Nigeria great again without unnecessary dramas ! thanks bro for your efforts in winning this battle. If things had gone South,it will cement some people beliefs that transacting with strangers is risky. Meanwhile na your closest fellows go chop you without remorse. Thanks once again. B like I go sign up for kobocity |

Cribking1: Stay away from Rabiu Kehinde Adeniyi a.k.a Mountmoriah . He is a Criminal and Fraudster. I paid him #1, 369, 750 to supply me Roman stone coated roofing sheets and accessories. I haven't heard of him till now. All his lines switched off. I sent the payment to his GTB account number 0007312835. I trusted him based on the fact that he delivered wood to my site and I paid on delivery for the wood. After gaining my trust, he took measurements of my roof and opined to supply me the roofing sheets. I transferred to him for 48 hours now and haven't received the materials. I spoke with him this morning and he said they were on their way to Ibadan currently at Guru maharaji. Told him to snap the himself with the vehicle conveying the materials to my site since 10 am, he went off immediately and have been off since. I later called, him two lines switched off. imagine working so hard to build a name only to crumble it on just one deal. |

rotecch77: My brother the issue of prices/ quotation now is a serious issue. But ones you put clause in your quotation you are safe. Or beta still I ask my client to procure materials There selves my work right now, there's so many materials and counterfeit eh that even with my experience is difficult to choose from. Imagine a total novice. If client decides to buy materials, how about electrode that has increased by over 80% this year alone. How about paint that is adding #100 almost every day. It seems insignificant but wait until two weeks and go there to buy it and you will nearly cry |

rotecch77: Infact we don’t know where we are going in this country again.
I waited for pop materials price to come down for the past 1 month yet I still bought it for 7500 per bags and 2000 for 1kg filers.
150 bags bought 200kg filers bought also Our budget was 450k before now we have spent about 1.2m on materials ONLY. I just dey laugh who is waiting for prices to come down. My quotes no dey last pass three days. When you ask me for price, my answer is usually "are you doing the job immediately" It's painful experience cause it makes one look unserious. Imagine dropping a quotation on a weekend and to change it all again by Monday |

Kingdemu: Is there any advantage to placing a tank that high? yes Oga. Water pressure. For your tap to run at maximum pressure especially for the rooms at the very top, it's important that you place your tank at same height with your building. A foot above the parapet
