AT LAST, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader and former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu, has revealed how he and other chieftains of his party plotted the recent electoral defeat of the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking at the public presentation of the book "Dynamics of Change: The Amaechi Years," on Thursday in Victoria Island, Lagos, Tinubu attributed the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan to a "Common Sense Revolution" anchored on a rebellion against the excesses of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The event was witnessed by a cross section of the political class and civil society including governors, former governors, senators among others. The book was authored by Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi and Dr. Chidi Amuta. Chairman of the occasion, Justice Adolphus Karibi-Whyte, said the book only offered a glimpse into the vision that stimulated the infrastructure and developments during the Amaechi years in Rivers State. "Indeed, there is a publication with that title authored by me in which I argued that Nigeria was ripe for a change of leadership and Nigerians must act in a Common Sense and rational way in choosing their leaders. The results of the March Presidential elections and that of April have demonstrated clearly the desire by Nigerians for change." Tinubu, who was guest of honour in his comments said: "Amaechi is an example of common sense revolution. In the course of the historic campaigns for the 2015 Presidential election, I was emphatic that the election itself was a great opportunity to popularise and test the noble idea of a Common Sense Revolution in Nigeria. "Soon enough, we found in the resonance of the APC Change mantra with the electorate a confirmation that Nigeria needed a Common Sense Revolution that is non-violent." "Elections over, both the leaders and citizens must brace up to meet the challenges required to build a better, more prosperous nation. Indeed, even as we subscribe to the tenets of Common Sense Revolution, we must retool ourselves, the new leadership must embark on policies that will improve the general well-being of the mass of our people. "It is a positive one to rescue, repair and restructure the nation and its institutions in ways that further collective prosperity and well-being. The only violence that is to be done is to violence, injustice and poverty themselves. "At its essence, a common sense revolution is a call to return to a level of decency in the relationship between government and the governed, between each one of us and his neighbour. "In my view, our gathering to celebrate the landmark achievements of my brother, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, in Rivers State in the last eight years is also another justifiable celebration of idea of Common Sense Revolution for development. The publication of the book, 'Dynamics of Change: The Amaechi Years', is a timely service to history." Commending Amaechi's leadership of the Nigeria's Governors Forum (NGF), Tinubu said: "This occasion is all the more remarkable because of the huge challenges Amaechi has been facing, especially in his second term from an extremely hostile federal government. His role as the chairman of the Governors' Forum invariably brought him into a bitter collision with President Jonathan. "Governor Amaechi and most of the governors want a properly defined federalist relationship with the government at the centre. The President would have none of that as in the notable example of the management of the federation account. This is, therefore, another great opportunity to salute Amaechi's rare courage of conviction and sense of purpose. The APC has every cause to be proud of him," Tinubu said. http://allafrica.com/stories/201505160133.html cc: Lalasticlala |
themilanway:One of the prerequisite of smartness is objectivity (Ability to view things through multiple dimensions, before coming to conclusions). So I disagree with the smartness talk. I will start taking him seriously, when he start admitting his agendas. |
kmcutez:This is main the reason why she kept asking for more. I have slept with many nymphomaniac and most of them don't demand sex more than 3 times a day. Orgasm takes so much energy out of a girl so... |
How far lala247. Hw your side. That your dp is why guys look forward to summer. Great body still. |
cyprus000:Done ![]() |
brandymcmb:Ignorance is a disease. Why are people just standing there instead of giving him a cpr. At least lay him in a recovery position. |
My vote goes to Twaci, maureensilva, sandrahnaub, subbieD, mzlaurel Cc:NLjega |

Hold tight peng Chiam55. Who you voting for? Voting tmrw is looking a myth, as I am going to India tonight...Dont understand the reasoning behind so many elimination rounds. Bday wishes sent btw ![]() Oh, I speak on behalf of many guys on nl by demanding a change of your Dp. Signed- nl boys. Cc: All stalkers ![]() |
Chiam55:Btw, what's your ideal type of relationship In the context of commitment and boundaries. Surely, I can tell you want certain freedom. I want your personal answers and not the ultra liberal clichés Lol. *Scratching head while thinking of your nationality* you are Partly english and south african. In which case, that explains your dimples ![]() |
Chiam55:I lean towards your perspective about marriage, but still wouldn't go as far as calling those who get married as being enslaved. Most people, especially ladies tend to demand a form of symbolic commitment to show you are just not using them as children factory. Marriage can be termed a slavery if the actions were not consensual between both adults. Not proposing in the traditional way and giving rings is a deal breaker for most European and African girls, so it's not like it was against their wishes. |
LMAyedun:That's the reason why I don't like politics section. Full of idiots. |
Well, judging my the slow progress of the southwest over the past ten years, I can't blame them for demanding for more. |
Thanks Mrcork. No offence ![]() |
Creamish:It does make a lot more sense, if you think about it. Everything is context of course, as you can still twist it around .How are you tho. Having a great day? |
winetapper:These guys are ugly? Hating or what. |
Chiam55:In terms of ideologies & philosophies, I am as progressive and forward thinking as they come. But I have to admit I find your comments about marriage 'being a slave' astonishing. All arguments about ring and name changing aside. In the same context, there is no point of getting married and spending £30k on ceremony, like my friend did in january. Let's face it, if you are progressive enough to think wearing wedding rings and changing names doesn't make you any more committed, then you must also accept marriage is pointless. The difference between marriage and gf/bf relationship are rings, Mrs tag, and a glorified certificate. My question is without the first two, why bother getting married? Btw, where are you from? You don't come across Nigerian nor look it, unless you are hybrid like me ![]() |
UncleLondon:There is something called sarcasm ![]() |
Chiam55:Effectively, you prefer gf/bf thingy with no commitment. |
Chiam55:I don't know what's more surprising, the football match I just watched or your posts Chiam55 you are even more interesting than i had thought . |
Chiam55:It's a normal practise in England innit... . I don't mind, as long as my name is the main surname . At that rate tho, the grand children will have more 4 surnames. |
Chiam55:Hmm I wonder what that because is. *Checks self in the mirror* A guess... My big forehead? |
Bayern needs an early goal. |
prettyboi1:I follow chiam55 for a reason . She is pretty and da bomb in term of personality. |
mmsen:Yup. The whole south leaving the union called Nigeria, makes a lot more sense in Economic terms. |
Where is becomerich? Man is hilarious and crazy. |
500GP:One questions for the experts. Are Niger deltas etc(South south) part of Igbo? Otherwise, without the South south, Igbo will be worse off in the short to medium term. This situtation is similar to BREXIT, as in Nigeria is a bigger market for IGBOs just like EU is to britain. |
bizmogul:Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle. Sorry, I couldnt ignore that quote. |
MrCork:Mehn you are a legend on this forum. You give me too much jokes man . There is something endlessly hilarious about your gorky attitude. *Following you* No offiience ![]() |
Whatever happens, nothing is worth taking your life over. |
If the feminist-wannabes on nl are anything to go by, then I will agree for intellectual reasons. |
Pakingzzz:How is it going with the project? Any update? |
