Can please stop reposting or quoting entire posts, so the thread doesn't become unnecessarily long? Since we can easily reference using the person's name.
Thanks in advance

My dear, family is family jor... Besides he has read through, he stopped reading recently. He's a guru on this thread

You gave us a clue when you commented on the Dr that gave her POE story recently. Something about a Dr's response to giving birth in America.

It seems I have missed a lot by not reading the thread as frequently as I used to! What happened to the love and warmth on this thread?

@ Nerf I think you should have apologized to Eatwell, afterall he was only trying to help out.

@Eeatwell no vex! Thanks for being such a gentleman, I learnt some new things from your post.

@SimiJ I didn't get to read your deleted posts but from one woman to another I beg you apologize to Nerf make she no report you to God.

I know what it is to lose a child and trust me it's a touchy subject. I don't pray for anyone to experience it.

We are all parents and parents to be, we should see ourselves as role models and start acting the part.

I wish everyone safe and fruitful delivery in Jesus name. Amen.

Did you just type all that to a woman who carried two babies in her womb for 28 good weeks, with all the hassle that comes with pregnancy and lost both babies cry cry cry . you may be very right or wrong but this is just too sad. *handsonmyjaw*
Thank you o my sister! I pray you will never experience loosing a pregnancy at any stage, especially an advanced one at that. The pain, emotional roller coaster, having to answer all sorts of questions, the pitying looks and all.

@Drafrica that was so insensitive of you. I read it and I shook my head. My hospital was one of the supposed best ones in Lagos and yet, they could not handle contractions till it progressed into labour and we lost the baby. Please try to be more sensitive to other people's plight. I don't even know what else to say. I am just very upset!

I posted on here that I lost my pregnancy at 5 1/2 months in Aug, around the time Nerf did. So now we are TTC again. I believe it will be soon (keying into Nerf's Xmas testimony) in Jesus name. I pray for divine favour in all your plans. Thanks for checking on me. I really appreciate it. God bless u.

A friend of mine had her baby in New Jersey last year via CS and also took out existing fibroids immediately after. She was charged separately for removing the fibroids, and for the CS. Reason being 2 entirely different procedures.
So I would advice you to do your homework well. Rest and take lots of fluids. Wish you a safe delivery.

@ Tenic09

You can apply for your doctor's appointment as early as possible, I think its just better to be prepared and not leave anything till the lat minute. I contacted my hospital as early as 9 weeks smiley
You can apply with your mom, and tell the V.O that she will help when the baby arrives. Your mom can also add her statement even if you state in your form that you or your husband will sponsor her. I added mine in my 'burden of proof' even though we listed my husband as the sponsor and it still helped.

As per your Doctor, i cant help with Dr Fagbohun, because I plan to use Elpaso in the future. You need to pay only $150 as registration fees to get your letter.

Hope this helps?

@Tenic09

I would advice you use same passport and documents to back it up.(though I am not certain what info is contained in the e passport) .

From experience I know that having all your documents gives you confidence to face the V. O.(though it's not like they have all the time in the world to check every single document you have.)

Fill your form as honestly as possible based on your former details eg past visa refusals, but don't divulge too much in the form. Also it doesn't change anything if your name on your passport is different from your husband's. I got my visa with my maiden name.

You can renew the passport as Merrymom said after visa approval, that's not a problem.
Hope this helps.

Tvegas: Our Nigerian hospital is asking for 5k for fit to fly letter and 5k for all the medical report. They are losing some income by letting you go,don't you think they should demand for more?

Actually by law you are entitled to your medical records, its in fact your 'property'. You are not bound to have your baby there just because they were giving you ante natal treatment. It is only in Nigeria they take advantage of people like this! Its like asking you to pay for sick leave slip.

I am so sorry for your loss and pray the Almighty will strengthen you and restore all you have lost in Jesus name. 3 weeks ago I lost my pregnancy at almost 6 months (due to hospital negligence) and I can sincerely say that I understand what you are going through. Baba God knows best and we will come back to testify in Jesus name. I wish all expectant mothers a safe delivery and safe journey. Can"t wait to put up my own POE and baby testimony here soonest! smiley

@ Ifax. filling out a new DS 160 form automatically erases any history of previous forms filled. Fill a new DS 160 form t thehen go to your profile on US Docs website. The DS 160 code/number is editable. Edit it and print out a new slip to take at the Embassy.
It's that easy, no need to be stressed out. You can even do it as late as a day before your interview.

@ BabyMama123 I agree with Phema, don't bother confessing or writing a letter of apology, because you will only complicate your matter. You have laid a false foundation (i.e misrepresentation of facts) so it will be difficult to wriggle out of this. I
also suggest you travel and come back first, and make your second trip for having the baby, but what happens in the future? when you want to go on family vacations? How will you correct this in the future?

Hi everyone, I just want to say a big thank you to all the amazing people on this thread. My husband and I went for our interview on the 3rd of July in Lagos (10am) and our visas were granted to the glory of God. The thread got us prepared (especially me) as my hubby thought I was being too meticulous by studying Nairaland, but it all paid off on the long run, because I ended up preparing him using info from this page, before the crash. I told God I would come back on here to testify ( I only just registered yesterday as a user) smiley. I had been refused 3 times before as a single lady, despite my travel history. Hubby hadn't been to the US (though I went as a child).

The interview went this way-

VO: You are Misss.... and he is Mr.... (my maiden name on my passport)
WE: yes we are. (keeping eye contact but not over smiling)

VO: You are going to Texas?
Hubby: Yes

VO: what for?
Hubby: To have our first child

VO: where?
Hubby: Del Sol Medical Center El PAso (apparently the name on our letter of medical responsibility is different, but that didn't matter)

VO: why?
Hubby: Because its safe and tailored towards international patients.

VO: How did you hear about this hospital?
Hubby: We did a research online and found great reviews about the hospital

VO: Do you have a letter from the hospital?
Hubby: Yes. I hand over the letter of medical responsibility sent by the hospital. (containing the cost breakdown, and the fact that we made a deposit, my due date and my first appointment)

VO: Did you consider hospitals in other countries?
ME: No, only the US and Nigeria (unexpected question, but we scaled it)

VO: So what's your budget for this trip?
Hubby: told her ( i bring out the budget sheet we prepared. (in WORD format) told her the amount in dollars and naira, but she didn't ask to see it.

VO: turns to hubby. What do you do?
Hubby: I work at.......

VO: What's your position there?
Hubby: Tells her

VO: How much do u earn?
Hubby: Tells her

VO: (turns to me) What do u do?
Me: I tell her

VO: What's your monthly income?
ME: I tell her

VO: Do you have your Bank Statements?
Hubby: Yes we hand over both. ( his and mine, though we stated in the form that hubby was sponsoring) (she looks at it for 10 seconds and hands it back)

VO: Do you have all the money you require for this trip?
Hubby: Not all, but thereabout. ( we say how much we have combined at the moment)

VO: Have you traveled TOGETHER before? (I think this is a norm now for couples)
WE: Yes. Kenya for our honeymoon.
I: but we have been to different countries separately
VO: Asks hubby where?
Hubby: Says where he has been. But she didn't ask me anything so I didn't volunteer any information, though I had been to 5 countries and did my Masters in the UK.

VO: Your visas have been approved, make sure you have all your documents, financials etc. at POE, because they reserve the discretion to let you in.
WE: Yes, thank you!

She also asked who my contact is in the US Told her my maternal uncle, and she confirmed his address. That's all!

Salient points I gathered from Nairaland-

Be prepared, do your proper research( study this thread like you are going for an exam and take notes along the way, have all your documents on hand, including your budget break down.
Be honest, right from the point of filling your form.
Be confident at the interview but not over familiar (they are human beings just like us)
Dress well and look nice( not over dressed though)
Most importantly pray for God's favour which is the ultimate.

Best of luck for upcoming interviews! El Pasobound mamas to be in Oct/Nov please holla!
