This part pains me a lot. Every minute a civilian sleeps fine, a soldier z taking a bullet for that sleep in borno. Meanwhile dz by the way. I saw your post on that healthserve and pistota thread. And abt just posting pix of the carnival, not sure I can do well as a photo journalist but I will try. You can tag along though. And about the bullying part, I feel am the victim here
It may pain you but you have to understand that many people have had horrible experiences with military and paramilitary forces. And you just saw where they killed somebody for a spurious reason so you cant blame people can you?

Do you know what is going on in that thread? He just mentioned me there randomly and I got sucked into the quarrel. Which one of them is telling the truthhuh

We are all victims of the system in this country but the thing is that you wont allow yourself to be victimised. Thats why I said that you dont need allow people on here to finish you if you know you are innocent

What stops you from answering all 30 of those crazy mentions and telling them to shut the fùck up?

I can't even spell bully. I just see myself like the biblical moses. Imagine I post my pix today... Hmmm. the trolling go deep pass Mr micholo and that slaveAzubike

The funny thing is deep down even my course mates calls me civilian coz I show emotions of to pple and real life most pple even say am too cool and harmless to join the kind of life I joined.

but I just feel I shouldn't HV been proud of who I am on Nairaland coz a stereotype is attached to my profession
Lol I just looked at your profile for the first time since we've been talking...so youre a soldier? shocked No wonder everybody's venting their frustrations on you cheesy Lol

But Im sure you must understand that people dont have a good impression of soldiers, police and customs officers on here, its normal. I dont think you need to take their comments personally

Anyway I didnt mean that you should upload pictures of yourself, I meant that you should show pictures of the carnival

You don't get it. HV made some controversial comments here. There was a time a military man was said to misbehave and I supported him in the spirit of camaraderie. I never knew the gravity of things till early last month when news made FP of ariforce soldiers killing A man in sokoto coz dey called his gf an harlot. I tried condemning the attacks until I saw over 30 mentions all telling me y am I condemning what am part of. One even said he won't be shocked if am the airforce officer. As if that was not enough early this week I saw a mention on a topic of a planned protest to free sowore and Someone just commented Buhari will order greatbrian and his boys to dance python etc. Men i felt weak like what kinda image HV I build over time. And the funny thing is I look back at some comment I made and still can't fathom any hiccup.
Lol...are you serious? Okay, I understand you. But you have to remember that they like bullying people in this place.

You can be careful of your comments but still dont allow people to cow you unnecessarily

Was there last year and the previous... It was fun. I won't make a thread for it biko. HV stepped on toes on nairaland and the last thing I want is my picture flying. Last year own was great I took part in the bikers rally and I must commend Ben Ayade for calabar roads. He even paid lots of artiste for free shows in the metropolis. Mr P, phyno and co the last day was the best. The march in the stadium that made some ladiesarch totally unclad from breast up. It was a sight to behold
Hmm! Making a thread about your experience at a festival is stepping on toeshuh Okay o

All of that sounds like cool thread material but what do I know lol

The Hausa version of smoothies here sucks. And again i hardly buy edible stuffs outside. My mum brought me up to see everyone level of hygiene very questionable. So I frown at most stuffs that enters my mouth. Especially when am absent at the making.

Hopefully I will marry a handy woman who z good in all the rooms.
Oh are you talking about that special hausa yoghurt stuff?

Yeah eating outside isnt good but I think packaged juices and smoothies are okay as far as you buy them from a reputable store.

Mixologist by profession.... I like you already so you learnt to Mix for hospitality sake. We are getting there and how do you know the vodka is perfect? I guess u have to taste
And you even learn the best food that goes with each conception.. Interesting. You should consider a job in a club or smfin
Lol This is the problem...so learning how to mix means I belong in a club right?

My opinion is that you should be able to offer your guests different things to take and not just what you enjoy taking. You can learn on youtube or google how to mix different drinks and how they compliment different foods

You will know the vodka is perfect by measuring it in a thimble. But my knowledge on different types is lacking because I dont drink, so I dont know the difference

greatbrian:
Not talking of vodka. HV never tasted that and I will never try it... Am talking of Smirnoff ice....

Ntin appease my soul than some heavily garnished suya and hollandia. Serve the hollandia chill and put a mix tape of Kenny rogers and don Williams or any country music. That's my definition of heaven
Okay I understand you now. Its still better to take it with food than drinking it straight though

How come you know this drinks and how best to mix them.... Midnighter this is a faceless forum. Is there smfin u ain't saying maybe perhaps you used to be drunken masters protege before you met Jesus or Mr perfect... Now vodka and coke and u even talked abt the smell of one drink in another comment of yours of how it smells like glue......

Hmmmm
Of course I have tasted it and I know how to mix. Just because I dont drink I dont stop others from drinking neither do I condemn them as long as its done responsibly

I purposely learn about drinks and how to mix them because I know I dont like alcohol ... at least for hospitality's sake you should know how to mix and serve a drink, plus which foods go with which drinks. Its a useful hosting skill

greatbrian:
It was one break so I decided to club for the first time. I was told by those dare devils that Smirnoff ice na woman drink e no strong at all. So I danced to their tune. It was my first and last time trying alcohol though. I prefer my hollandia strawberry flavour. That one goes well with my system
I dont know where that "women's drink" stuff comes from because vodka will get you high quicker than beer and women already have a lower alcohol tolerance

Lol please be sharing the Hollandia oo, any flavour. Have you tasted the chocolate malt one? cheesy I could bathe in it, so delicious..

The last time I checked the good book, I saw woe to a man who is mighty in drinking. Meanwhile, you need to redefine the phrase mildly. Am a man and I tried drinking once that was like 3 years ago. I tried a bottle of Smirnoff. I never reach half self I don't knock and I was seeing the sun in the night. My dash away was we were in soldiers club so I just got a room and crashed. Alcohol might HV some few health benefit but not all men are cleared to take it. I HV a pal who can mix Andre with Scotch etc and will still double 10km without feeling dizzy but me ordinary smirn off knocked me totally out. Not even up to a bottle. So redefine the mildly it goes by saying that was my first and last time taking alcohol
Personally I attend orthodox church that doesnt forbid drinking... I dont see any religious basis for restricting people from it. What I know is that its forbidden to get drunk, which is different

"Mildly" will vary from person to person depending on weight, genes, gender, so many things. There are official guidelines for men and women about how much you can take per week.

Lol, vodka is one of the strongest kinds of alcohol, obviously if you are not used to drinking and you dont eat a very good meal beforehand, and you take half a bottle then you will already be gone with the wind.

You should have started yourself off with a wine or beer to accompany your food. Or a vodka and coke mix.

I cant believe you just drank smirnoff straight without any introduction, if I try that I will faint. Just the smell alone is enough to finish me

Well, what can I say. As far as I know its taboo in Igboland for women to drink except very mild sipping in a responsible manner. Thats if your husband allows you

Except if youre an elderly lady, they take hot gin I think

You used the word "coursemates" which is that this happened while in school right? I guess that is just youthful exuberance but I doubt they would do all that at home

I personally dont drink but its okay in my family as long as you dont overdo it

What is ignorance here? They always have a way of defending the act of drinking. From drinking responsiblly you won't know when you graduate to excess. Drinkimg is drinking.

Like the case of the lady who posted about being threatened with a sex tape of herself and some guy was caused by drinking but on a normal day, she'll claim she drinks responsibly....keep deceiving yourselves. It is what it is.
That doesnt make any sense; you could say that about almost any leisure activity. Even from watching a moderate amount of TV you could graduate to watching too much, does it mean you'll throw your own awayhuh

Moderate drinking is moderate drinking and heavy drinking is heavy drinking. They are totally different and your analysis is too simplistic.

That sex tape thread cannot be used as an example here; there were so many factors involved in that girls case.

- She was indulging in a thrill-seeking experience and wasnt thinking of being responsible which is different from a moderate drinker who knows their limit

- She was obviously hanging out with the wrong crowd and succumbed to peer pressure in order to feel among.

- She drank in a dubious environment which is different from drinking at home or in a reputable restaurant or hotel

- She was probably drugged, which could happen even if you are drinking 5Alive

You cant use one bad case in which somebody happened to be drunk to totally condemn women who drink.

The Babcock girl was totally sober, yet her sex tape still got leaked. If I used her as an example for why people should go ahead and drink would it make any sense to youhuh

I pity the men that go after ladies that drink beer. I mean...to me, they dont reason well as a real woman who should be very calculative abd such women are easily layed.
Any little fight between them and their spouse, youll hear, "a o break your head".

Please girls desist from it. The man is right.
This is so ignorant, what has alcohol consumption got to do with whether a woman is "sharp" or not

You are confusing a lady who drinks responsibly with a drunkard.

And plus even women who have never drank in their lives can threaten to break somebodys head

Culture › Re: Myths, Realities of Ijaws in Destiny with Rivers by midnighter(f):
Sanchez01:
Why this is so, I think, is because he had his tertiary education in Lagos. However, Sowore personally does not identify with any region. He'd tell you he is a Nigerian and only interested in the growth and development of Nigeria. And I'm almost certain you'd never see him in a typical Yoruba attire. He is an activist and that is what makes sense to him the most.
Okay. Yeah, sure I never see him in Yoruba attire either but thats by the way. I am speculating more on the absence of Ijaw identity than presence of Yoruba, since most people associate Ondo state with Yorubas. So my point was that he may be riding on their coattails a little bit by refusing to conspicuously identify with his own tribe, one way being his clothing, which is one of the obvious markers of tribal identity in Nigeria.

Many people think he is Yoruba and not Ijaw. He benefits from this politically, because we all know how difficult it will be for a conspicuous Ijaw to get back into office again.

Sanchez01:
Sowore's brand of politics is what any activist would play in a saner clime. Call for a better government and even push to be a part of the government to effect the change you want.

The best you'd see Sowore in is similar to what almost revolutionary would don. Sahara Reporters make over a million Naira in revenue monthly. It wouldn't cause Sowore a thing to remain quiet over the affairs of Nigeria. Sowore doesn't need the position. Nigerians need a vibrant, radical approach to governance. South Africa is a testament of this...
Fair enough. I can buy that.

Sanchez01:
Sowore doesn't need to don a Fedora hat to be Ijaw. I have never worn a bead nor don the typical Urhobo in my life. It doesn't make me less an Urhobo man, a proud one at that.
I didnt say so. But ethnic pride is often expressed through attire. That you or he chooses to eschew it doesnt make this less of a fact.

As I said, that is one of the main outward distinguishers of ethnicity in this country (and society at large).

This is especially important in a colonial hotchpotch like this where the biggest marker, native language, has been suppressed by our adopting English as the official medium for public discourse.

Sanchez01:
He is an activist and that, I'm sure, is why he doesn't do the identity thing.
Makes sense.

Some, not all. It's almost the same way the Igboness of those in Delta is discussed. Most claim they are not Igbos while some align and think themselves Igbos.

Dickson is only a representation of the clannish Ijaw people who think themselves true while other Ijaws are either mixed or now 'true blood'.
Do you have any ijaw heritage?

I am more concerned about what she's learning from the church which she has made her second home. Ideally, the church is to be a place where she'll meet other people who are supposed to inspire her to get things better in life or is she not seeing or ladies of her kind?

Sometimes I wonder the way some people reason. What's so difficult in putting herself together. Meanwhile, she happens to come from a moderately well to do family cos having an uncle who has invested over 10million to support her step sister is not little privilege at all. Common sense is not common indeed. People make problems out of things which they are not.
Lol dear, so youve never met those people who just use church as a way of covering up their excesses or escaping from their problems? Church-going can become dangerous if its not done for the right reasons. And it depends on whether they really preach the gospel there or just use it to extort money from the members.

To an extent its not really to do with the church but personal discipline. The OP is sponsoring the lady's lifestyle, so she has never really had to sit up. I am sure that deep down she must feel a little guilty, But the guilt is offset by the fact that she wont have to confront her husband for his unseriousness

She sounds like she married a ne'er-do-well and just let her standards decline until she didnt know where to start improving herself again.

Well, my own is that OP should remove his hand from it.
