Nigeria doesn't grin grin. No sub-saharan African country has airborne artillery. So that.

agaugust: World war I and II air combat is not useful today where missiles and electronics rule the air.

South Africa has ZERO experience of 4th Generation air combat with jets carrying seeker head missiles, your Mirage F-1 Vs MiG-23 combat of 1980s is an ancient warfare. Only Ethiopia and Eritrea have modern jet vs jet combat experience in all Africa, even Egypt doe not have such experience.

Stop boasting of what you do NOT have...Fraudster !
Seeker head missiles? LOLm. The MIGs and Mirages fired live missiles at each other. SA is the first nation to introduce HMDs,yet you wanna compare Nigeria with SA regarding experience of flying jets?

South Africa will be the first sub-saharan nation to have capabilities similar to the French operation in Mali.

Also SA will be the first African nation to have capabilities similar to the Turkish flotilla that visited many African nations and tested missiles in SA months back.

South Africa has NO air or land based stand off munitions like missiles and smart bombs.

That is about 60 helicopters in NAF on SIPRI alone for purchases from year 2000 to 2013 only. I did not add 6 units new Mi-35M Hind E, squadron of Bell Rangers, squadron of R66 Robinsons, and the 40 new helicopters from USA/Russia arriving this month.

Nigerian air force (Not counting Navy helicpoters one squadron, not counting any NAF reserves two squadrons) will have about 120 helicopters rocking the skies....Biggest force in Sub-Saharan Africa !

.
SAAF has more than 150 helicopter when we include unoperational reserve squadrons.

agaugust: The SAAF Chief Of Staff retired in 2012, like I said 99% of combat experienced South African military men are either dead, retired, or run away oversees to avoid Zulu spear of revenge.

Don't fvck yourself dude, it won't produce a baby, South African air force and Nigeria both have NO experience of 4th generation jet fighter combat where EM. ECM, ECCM is the rule of the game. South African Gripen jets have zero combat experience, NEVER used in war. FACT !

SAAF Hawk jets have never killed a mosquito, NAF Alpha jets have been flying recce and ground attack from 20 years ago till today...Liberia, Sierra Leone, Mali, North East Nigeria.

Who has a better experienced air force today 2014, not on past glory ? Nigeria !
EM,ECM,ECCM? Lmaoooo.

What's new to you,is what we've been doing in the 80s.

Past glory and experience? Looool

Your air force has never fired a single missile in combat.

The SAAF flew in world War 1 until today. SA is more experience operating jets unlike some whom crumble when hit with mild sanctions and had to put jets in the freezer.

agaugust: South Africa has superior command and control over Namibia, NOT Nigeria.

Dude, you mean Algeria that spends on weapons many times more than South Africa has no data-links for Algerian military ?

SIPRI or UN arms log will not record any country's data-links installations because it is NOT a weapon or combat equipment, it is a mere satellite two way communication network of data linked together on a number of equipment like aircraft, ships, and vehicles at the same time.

You SA guys make it sound like data links is a nuclear weapon....All South Africans dumbo domingos grin grin

See, Nigeria has data links but we don't make noise about it, sure Egypt will have..or how do they match Israel. Sure Algeria will have from their multi-billion dollar defence budget.

Now look....Nigeria has ISR aircraft that have data-links that are connected to many ground stations and other different equipment. At Nigeria's level of sophistication, our 3 armed forces can exchange information on-line real time via data-links from aircraft to warships to ground stations and major ground equipment.

In case you dont know, data-links depends 100% on satellite network and Nigeria is far ahead of South Africa in satellite technology, so it means Nigeria has satellites and supports it's data-links by them, but South Africa has NO single satellite and therefore depends on another country's satellites to connect SANDF data-links, the day you offend them, they just disconnect your data-link and you enter hot pepper soup.

You Soweto guys here are NOT telecoms or satcoms experts, so stop yapping about data-links when you know next to nothing about the detailed engineering of how it actually works.

You don't know that even different types of data links that are totally different and irrelevant to each other, can be integrated to work together via a coordinating translator/correlator. So you guys should stop claiming to be experts of a technology that you know less than 1% of.

Nigeria has data-links and includes both fixed and mobile ground stations data-link network integrated systems as well as linked to different weapons/equipment/platforms including our very small ISR Diamond aircraft you do not even know about....

2013 upgrade contract with U.S. Navy & Private Contractor

Nigerian Air Force upgrades Diamond intelligence aircraft
Posted by: Ade Tayo in Latest News 08/05/2013

The U.S. Navy is working with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to enhance their intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities by upgrading equipment on two Diamond DA-42 aircraft and associated ground stations, according to contract documents released Monday through the Federal Business Opportunities website.

The Navy is seeking a contractor to upgrade ISR equipment on two DA-42 Diamond Twin Star aircraft, data links and antennas of existing fixed ground stations, and provide two new portable ground stations, training, optional spares and an optional Field Service Representative.

All modifications, testing, delivery, and training shall be performed in Nigeria, the Navy said in contract documents.

The contractor will be responsible for uninstalling all existing aircraft and fixed ground station ISR equipment made obsolete by the upgraded equipment, the Navy said. This equipment shall remain the property of the NAF."

We have a COBRA like, data links facility here in nigeria. The only facility of such anywhere on this continent.
You no Military standard data links.

Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 10:49pm On Aug 02, 2014
The Hawk LIFT and Gripen are/will be able to receive information from the ESR 220 Thultwa mobile radar and ISTAR component from project cytoon. This enhances the effectiveness of stand-off munitions like missiles and smart bombs.

And it will be the case with Skyshield radar and the newer experimental missile guidance radar for the Umkhonto. Under phase two of the GBADS project.

Typical Beegeagles blogger.

You don't know what you're talking about.

I won't bother explaining the capabilities of the project Legend's Chaka C2 systems, which include blue force tracking. And compatible with the Link-ZA.

SANDF artillery corps's AS-2000 targeting system and new Skyshield air defense will be linked via Link-ZA MIL-STD data link. Meaning a Gripen can detect a helicopter and fed the info in real time displaying on the screens of the GBADS command computer.

Or ISTAR equipment acquired under project cytoon can fed enemy positions to the AS-2000 artillery targeting computer. All in near time, scouts(SA army Intel corps personnel) can "train" artillery guns on enemy targets.

Superior Command and control.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA:
Henry120: #Reminder

"The budget shortfall also meant the SANDF would have to cut operations and acquisitions."
Let me make it simple for you.

To implement the defence review the government will have to spend billions of dollars, buying equipment suggested by the review. This includes Amphibious assault ships, light and heavy transporters etc

So the SANDF funding totally has nothing to with the implementation. The Defence budget will then be increased.

Your country spends less on defence, you should imagine the rot in your force.

Henry120: 1)There are no Patria IFV's in SANDF service, they haven't entered service with your loan defence force. Lol

2) The SAAF only fly 10 half-french helicopters

3) No they don't.
1. The Badger IFV has been delivered to the army for testing,if we at war it would be sent to front lines.

2. SAAF has 11 Rooivalks.

The SA National Defence Force (SANDF) is facing a "catastrophic" multi-billion-Rand financial crisis that could force mass retrenchments and the indefinite postponement of the acquisition of essential equipment.

Oh well, keep daydreaming.
From next month everything changes. Pray for September not to come. Yes my dream(implementing the 2014 defence review) is slowly by surely becoming a reality.

SAAF under project saucepan will get a long range MP aircraft.

The suggestion about the aircraft augubuhu is talking was made, before the 2012 defence review.

Henry120: Have you seen Syrian Army up-graded T-72's take a beating in the syrian civil war? An Upgraded T-72 is a great tank.

1. Why would nigeria need a Half-french helicopter, which you don't even want ( you only got 10 of them), when we got MI-35M's.

No sane person would trade an MI-35M for a half-french helicopter.

2. You have no patria IFV's in SANDF.

3. We got both BTR-3U's and Sagaie AFVs

4. Our Palmaria artillery system is one of the best howitzer's in the world.

5. We got up-graded T-72's in service. Your Olifant is a museum relic.

6. MGLs, AGLs, we have tons of those in actual service, not photo-shoots. Actual service.

7. SSG-69 and Dragunov sniper rifles are amongst the best sniper rifles in the world.

The rest of your gibberish...... Just as usual.
1. The SANDF has received the Badger IFV already. They're putting it in trails before production can begin.

2. The SANDF has 11 Rooivalks not 10.

3. The SANDF has better sniper and anti- material rifle.

The nigerian military possesses data links capability. We it practically used in the rescue of two vessels, one off the coast of Angola, the other in ghana.

We also continue to see this capability during the yearly exercise obangame.

We have also seen the ground control/analysis center, the military's situation room.

We haven't seen this capability been deployed by the SANDF or even written.
Your claims are childish mate.

The USA,Russia,China etc and in Africa,South Africa are still developing for fitting sensors on helmets linked with data links to command centers to show "where are my men","where are my artillery guns situated" etc

Even Hitle...,Churchill and others had war time operational centres.

No one disputes that.

Yes,Nigeria like most defense forces has data links. But that's where it ends.

You don't have MIL-STD data links like NATO Link 11,16,22 and SA's Link-ZA.

But whatever I never expect a Beegeagles blogger to understand Combat Net Interoperability Standard (CNIS).

All SANDF communication systems are made to be compatible with Link-ZA,it is mandatory.

It cuts the decision making process shorter. Example say an aircraft strayed into a SANDF no fly zone, the Defence minister will receive real time info about the situation. While engaging the air defense chief, giving him/her and generals options on whether to use jets or GBADS to intercept or shot down.

NATO uses Link-11 if I'm not mistaken or it was been replaced. SA uses Link-ZA. Nigeria has no data links please name it or shut it.

Ground control? Air forces have them. From analyzing reconnaissance pictures to Intel is what they're used for.

Link-ZA links systems in the field to the commanders' Chaka C2 system. In the future soldiers will be tracked on the battlefield by sensors on their helmets called "impi".

The commander are able to receive real time information relayed to them from the battlefield via Link-ZA. It ables the Defence force to act as one muscle.

The Hawk can fire a radar guided missile linked to the Gripen it can guide it with Linkza.
