Lol. I only mentioned internet banking so you could check the opening balance on your e-statement.
I wish you all the best in your application.

Question1:
Thank you. So I have to go to the bank again as I have not activated my internet banking
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 3:25pm On Aug 10, 2017
You only need to show fees and maintenance for your first year. Since you've fully paid up your 1st year fees, all you need to show is your maintenance cost for your 1st year.

jayken07:
Hello @justwise@mimilyrics and everyone here..please I have an urgent question..I am going for my doctorate degree program of 3yrs and I have paid my full 1st year fees to the school.what do I need to show in my bank statement; is it just my living expenses for 9months or or I have to add the tuition fees as well for my 2nd yr and 3rd year respectively..please assist me with this info as I'm yet to receive my CAS from the university so I can know exactly my stand...
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 2:19pm On Aug 10, 2017
From my understanding of the T4 guide, you don't need to show source of funds. All you're required to do is hold the money in your account for 28 days. If you print from July 12th, your opening balance isn't enough for your maintenance. And honestly, I'd say, print from the 13th when the opening balance favors your application.

Question1:
So going by this how will the Visa officer know when I started my 28days?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 2:04pm On Aug 10, 2017
I understand now. The deposit won't reflect but the balance will be the 6M plus which is way above what you need. Deposits usually don't reflect in opening balances till the day after. Opening balances are usually what's in your account as at the time the bank opens for business that day and won't Change till the next day if any deposit was made.
I suggest you write a cover letter as Nnabuchumo said but if you don't mind the deposit not showing, then get a statement from 13th.

Question1:
@Mimi, I don't understand o. On July 12, balance increased from 4m to 6m. So I started counting on the 13 July, when balance became 6m..

Note that, the GT bank woman told me that if she printed from 13 July, it won't reflect any deposit made into my account. So I asked her to print from 12 July.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 1:37pm On Aug 10, 2017
Your deposit probably didn't reflect till 13th of July.
Your opening balance should be the amount you require(the 6M+) at the start of the 28 days because the opening balance of 3M plus isn't close to what you need at all since you'll be fully responsible for your maintenance. Using the lowest required amount for outside London for 9 months is around 3.6M (£1,015*9=9,135 which is around 3.6M using the rate of 400(Which isn't even the realistic rate). Ask them to print from 13 July to August 11 tomorrow. Or check your online banking for the opening balance on your account statement from July 13-August 11 by tomorrow morning to see what figures are reflecting.
You really don't need a cover letter since your account statement captures all you need.

Question1:
Hello guys,

Someone should please clarify this for me as I don't want to make any error. I have printed my bank Statement, have had several deposits in my account which eventually totaled 6 million as at 12 July, however I stated my 28 days on the following day 13 July and I printed my statement today, 10 August 2017.

Now, my statement shows.. Statement Period: 12-July-2017 to 10-August 2017. It also shows an opening balance of 3,054,000 and a closing balance of 6,054,129.... Is that reasonable?

Also, GT bank staff told me they don't issue a cover/reference letter for a saving account holder, so they didn't give me.

It seems they have quite a lot of applications to decide at this period. Hopefully, you should hear from them soon

Joycers:
Good Morning Everyone;
Please I need everyone advise, I'm a first time applicant. I submitted my Tier4 Application on the 24th July and 26th July the UKVI received it. Since then no update. Everyone should kindly advice me on this matter and my school is resuming soon. I'm really disturbed about this.
Thank you all in advance.

You're welcome. I'm still awaiting the decision mail

Question1:
Done that already, thank you.

How far with your application?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 10:06pm On Aug 09, 2017
Biko deposit excess. There's no rule against having more than is required. It's always better to have more than less. Even the schools advise to put more than is required if possible except the account is a £ account. If it's a £ account, putting exactly what's needed is okay.

sleyflash:
@justwise.. Pls i was asked to deposit 15705 pounds in my acct for 28 days and as at today thats converted into 7,415,180. but because of the fluctuation in rates this days i was thinking to be on a safe side i should just deposit 8 million instead, hope this is allowed and ok?
thanks
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 9:57pm On Aug 09, 2017
While you await @Justwise's response, let me chip in my 2 cents.
You don't need to. Just ensure that you list it under previous refusals on the online form and put in the correct date and reason for refusal. The ECO can always check their records if more information is required.
You could address this in the additional information section if you wish.
Question1:
@Justwise, Boss I was just wondering if it does make any difference should someone added his previous uk short term student visitor refusal letter together with other documents to be submitted for his tier 4 visa application?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 9:30pm On Aug 09, 2017
One year T4 Visa application fee is £335 which was $452 as at 3 weeks ago.
IHS for one year programs is £225 which was $303.75 as at 3 weeks ago.
The $ value might have changed depending on the current £ to $ rates.

Question1:
Okay.
@Ikeja priority 184+ visa application fee 330 = Total is 514

Please Am I correct?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 11:45am On Aug 08, 2017
What do you mean by emit? Did you mean to type submit or omit?
You don't need a consent letter if you're using your own account statement.
Your dad's company writing a letter doesn't mean that you'd return. If you're employed, get a letter confirming your approved leave from your employer. That shows that you have a job to return to on the completion of your course.
Note that doing all the above doesn't necessarily tell if the will be approved or not. No one here can tell you if you'll get your visa or not. You'd have to get your application in order, submit and wait to see if your visa is approved.

Chikejustin2255:
Hello,
I am new here and I don't know if I am posting the right way. Please my question is,
I applied for a six months student visa to the Uk in April and I was denied on the basis of my personal economic status. My dad don't have the money to sponsor me so My uncle was my sponsor and he is boyant and has paid the full fee to the school. My application was OK but they judged me based on my personal circumstance, that they are not sure I will return or finance my stay without a third party.I only emitted my uncles statement of account and my dad's concent letter together with other documents.

Now I want to reapply and this time around I want to emit my uncles statement again since he was d one that paid my tuition fee and also my personal account because my uncle paid in 3million as my maintenance fee which am to leave in my account for 28days but he told my dad to write in his consent letter that he (my dad) paid in the money to support me. Also my dad has a company which he made me one of his directors when I was still in sec school. He want to submit that to show my ties to my country.
Please my question is can I get the visa this way?

Read previous posts on finance. It's been extensively discussed on this thread. Scroll up and type in keywords such as exchange rate, exchange, Oanda, maintenance, account balance e.t.c Some other people have posted their experiences with the exchange in previous posts.

Aivinpac:
Hi guys,
Pls I'd like to note that am new to this just in case am not posting this via the right platform.i'd like to get ur views asap pls with respect to my Tier4 visa application
I want to know if it's ok or if anyone here has applied for visa whose date of application exchange rate on oanda is a bit higher than what he/she had in thier account during the 28day period.
I have already done my funding which was above the rates on oanda through out the 28day period, however I had to send the statement to my uni for verification cos they asked before they could send my cas, I was planning to pay for my application on the 2nd of August but unfortunately the rates peaked and up till today been the 7th of Aug it hasn't dropped and am a bit skeptical if it's gonna drop soon cos it's #470 to £1 at the moment and the rate I used was#450 to £1 at the time I commenced my funding.
Pls I need ur advice guys if I should submit cos my statement is about 2weeks now since I printed it out and I don't have any money to top up o. My tuition

TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 4:11pm On Aug 07, 2017
Okay. What did they then state as your total fees? If your scholarship is on the CAS, just put stated on CAS.
I don't know if that's normal. I guess different schools word them differently.

Mine as contained in my CAS is as below:
Course fees are 15,000
Course fees paid: 13,000
Accommodation: 0

The payment breakdown as explained on my CAS:
Scholarship:10,000
Amount I paid 3,000

Question1:
I think we are saying same thing, Financial Data section on my cas has something like this;

Course Fees: 9000 (instead of 15,000 )
Courses Fees Paid: 9000
Accommodation Fees Paid: 0.00

However, they indicated the scholarship somewhere at the back of the cas letter, is that normal?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics:
Yes. As long as it's not above $1,000. You'll be needing the code generated on your token or an OTP- one time password (requested for and received via your phone/email) from GTBank to complete the transaction.

roblance:
@mimilyrics Can I use my gtb naira card to pay for my visa application?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 2:44pm On Aug 07, 2017
I don't think I understand what you mean there. Do u mean that your CAS shows that all tuition fees have been paid?
Normally, the part that has total paid to your T4 sponsor should be £15,000 (6,000 scholarship+9000 which you paid) followed by a breakdown of how they arrived at the total paid. And when you fill the form, since you have no outstanding fees, put 0.
If this is not the case and if it's not been updated (or won't be in time for your biometrics) in the CAS system by your school, you'd still need to fill in 0 for outstanding fees (because you have no outstanding fees to pay) but include the receipt you got for the N9,000. I got a scholarship from my school too and that was how it was put on my CAS statement. The total paid to my school was my scholarship+amount I paid.
I've attached a pictorial guide though in case I misunderstood that part of your question.

Normally you should be able to use it for a maximum of one month after printing as long as you've submitted your application before printing the said statement. If you use the statement you printed before submitting your application, there's no evidence to convince the ECO that the money is available for your use in the UK at the time you submit your application.

bennyjiks:
July 24th sorry for the oversight.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 2:25pm On Aug 07, 2017
1. The address listed for your school on your CAS.
Ask your school to update your CAS. If not, include your receipt for the 9,000 paid. And list it as one of the documents you're submitting.

2. Fees for your course of study should be the full fees as listed on your CAS. There's a part where you'd need to state fees paid, this should include the scholarship and the amount you've paid.

3. If it's a licensed tier 4 sponsor(which in this case should be a University), select the paid to UK education provider.

4. Select Yes. Fill in 0 for course fees and fill in the required amount for your maintenance. Total should be the total amount required for you maintenance.

5. List all your entry dates to Ghana since Nigeria is your country of residence.

Question1:
Kindly help me shed light please,

1.What does primary site means?

The tuition fee for my school is 15,000. I was offered a scholarship of 6,000 and I paid 9000 already. My issue is that my CAS letter shows my course fee as 9000 instead of 15,000. But the 6k scholarship was stated on the cas.

2, So, on my visa application form the question, How much are the fees for your course of study, the figure should be the sane as in your cas? (Note: Meanwhile the course fee on my cas indicates GBP 9000, after deducting the 6k scholarship from 15k. )

3. Have any of your course fee been paid? I've paid 9k actually. But should it be to UK education provider of Oversea Higher Education institution?

4. Do you have remaining fees and maintenance still due for payment? Should it be yes or No (I got 6k scholarship and paid 9k = 15k. I've got maintenance fund in my account).
Furthermore,
Course fees................
Maintenance .............
Total ......................
Biko What should I include?

5. Have you ever travelled outside your country of residence, excluding the UK, in the last 10 years? I schooled in Ghana, and always come to Nigeria each time I'm on break. Should I answer this question by writing only the first day i travelled to Ghana or?

God bless!
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 6:58am On Aug 07, 2017
Roughly around N280-300k depending on the exchange rate. As at when I paid, total cost was $755 which was roughly N277,085. I bought black market $ to fund my $ credit card but at the time, using GTBank Naira MasterCard was at N375/$1. So find out your bank's exchange rate to enable you calculate. The exchange rate will determine how much it will cost you.

Todail:

Get an affidavit stating that both names are one individual. If you have your birth certificate stating all the names on both accounts, add it to the affidavit. I've not had this kinda issue before but i think normally an affidavit is enough.

Nchabuomo:
Hi fam. Please I need clarification on this I intend applying with two bank accounts, both belong to me and presently I don't have the time luxury to move to one account and use it.
Here's my fix: On my international passport my name is stated as Ajah Obinna Okey that's what my CAS and one of the accounts bear. On the other account my English name was added: Ajah Obinna Christopher. Do you think this is an issue or should I just get an affidavit.
P.S I'm doing a tier 4 application.

I'm still awaiting mine. Mine is 12 working days today. 16 days including weekends.
The timeline quoted was for an application made last year

shyy:
Hi...sorry, u submitted on 10 and decision was made on d 3rd of Aug? Did u get a mail from TLS? I applied early july....still waiting...mine is 16 days today..
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 2:44pm On Aug 04, 2017
I see the conflict you mean. In the mail my school sent for my pre-CAS information confirmation, My school advised to deposit more than is required in the account to be used. It's happened to someone I know before which is why I'm particular about this. The rate on application date was what was used which is why I say the rules should be followed to the letter. But if it works any other way for someone else, what more can I say? Based on the application in question, Application was made/submitted on July 10, decision made on Aug 3. Oanda Rate for July 10 was what was used. But seeing as it worked otherwise for some others, I'd just say 'may the odds be in your favor'.

Nchabuomo:
Then that's the conflict. If you are been judged by a future rate you do not know at the point of beginning your count and you are expected to hold that sum for 28 days prior to application how is that meant to work, if followed strictly?...Can you now see the conflict?
But it's okay sha. No sweat.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 10:44am On Aug 04, 2017
Just don't want anyone blaming this thread for misinformation because it's been quite helpful to me since I found it.
There's a need to do the 28 days count (see highlighted part of the attached file to this response). At least if anyone wants to do the 28 day rule+ exchange rate issue any other way, it wouldn't be because they didn't have the appropriate official information. It doesn't necessarily mean that it wouldn't work for them.

No offense taken at all. God's best to all of us. I'm looking forward to the 'visa received' messages from those of us still awaiting our visas.

Nchabuomo:
Honestly that's the first time I'm seeing it been put that way. Then again from their wordings in this document no need to wait for 28 days.....Just pick a day the rate is low and submit an application. Personally I think its tasking chasing exchange rate unless one is Pablo Escobar cause rate for the past few days has being 418, 450, 460 and 47...something today.
And I haven't seen anyone that has done it this way but that doesn't mean it can't be done this way too neither have I seen people that wait for rates to fall before submitting an application(Forex can't be so easily predicted the rate on Monday was about 398)
I apologize if I came up hard in my previous comment. Good-luck to us all.

TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 9:39am On Aug 04, 2017
@Nchabuomo, No need to get all worked up here. And since English isn't too difficult to comprehend, I've attached an highlighted part of the Tier 4 guidance that deals with this. It is quite easy to understand.

Nchabuomo:
It doesn't matter what the rates are! English isn't this hard to comprehend abi you just want to give yourself HBP. If you know the rate on the day you began your count stick to it ( example if the rate was 410....even if it becomes 70000 it's not your business same way if the rates become £1 =N1. They would still use the rate of the day you began your count).

TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 8:09am On Aug 04, 2017
According to the Tier 4 guide, it's the rate on the day you submit which is why it's always advised that you put in a little than you need before the 28-day count starts to avoid exchange rate issues.
samakinfol:
I will really need to clarify something, is it the rate on the day you day you started counting the 28days that will be used or the rate on the day you printed your bank statement on Oanda?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 8:05am On Aug 04, 2017
1. No. But have an idea of what your options will be when you arrive.

2. Use the address of your main site of study as you're not expected to have made any living arrangements yet. Except you'll be staying in school accommodation and have paid accommodation deposit to your school, in which case, you should put the address of the accommodation office or allocated room/quarters.
