Statement of account + consent.
Yemsot:
Hello everyone,

I want to apply for my dependants' visa (they are still in naija), but I want to use my account here as their proof of finances.
Do I have to write a consent letter concerning this? As it's my name on the account, or should I just submit the statement of account?

Thanks in anticipation for your response.

IHS refund won't be made once a visa is granted even if not been able to use it is due to UKVI delay.

Let the person use DHL except you're absolutely sure that the person you're taking to is the one whose name appears on the DL - also have proof that that's the case so you don't get charged for ID theft or something else.

Hello Gurus please I need your opinion.

Someone is asking that I help them bring their drivers licence which they couldn't pick up before travelling. Is it advisable that I carry another person's drivers ID while travelling? Would I be held at the airport by immigration or airport security? The same person wants me to help them also carry shoes but I declined and I don't know this person just someone that got my contact while searching for accommodation in the UK. Please I'm a first time traveller I need your honest opinion

IHS will not be refunded if a visa is refunded and you don't use it to travel even if UKVI caused the day that made the visa unusable. You'll need to pay IHS and visa fees again for your next application - basically rinse and repeat the whole process.

Do you want permanence or flexibility? Do you look forward to moving to a new role after 12 months or would you like to have some stability until you decide that you need a change?
Which experience do you reckon will leave you more satisfied in terms of the JD? Which one do you see leading toward your planned career aspirations?
What benefits do both companies offer aside pay? Trainings, work in different areas/subsidiaries etc.

Ultimately, you need to do a SWOT analysis of both offers and go for the one that benefits you more.

hyzich:
Hi Elders,

Trust everyone is coping well with the weather.

Please I need advice on the 2 offers I just got because they are my first job Experience in UK. Both roles align to my background as a finance person & none offered sponsorship but I'm not really bothered as I hold a skilled worker dependent visa.

1st offer.
A 12 months FTC with a leading retail chain in UK and pay is almost 13k above the second offer. The coy is good on CV to port.

2nd offer.

A permanent role with an audit firm in Dorchester not among the top 80 firms when I checked. However, eperience is worth it as I would be exposed UK gaaps(frs 101,102 etc).

There are schools that don't ask but none comes to mind at the moment.

This is a dicey situation. Please speak to your kids about the implications of made-up tales on the family unit - depending on the learning needs of your daughter, find a way to communicate this. It is your word against the kids and if they persist with their statements, you might end up having a drawn-out battle which might or might not end up with the children in care.

What kind of shows/movies do they watch on TV? sometimes, the contents of these shows are something else and not all kids are able to separate fiction from real life.

I once had the same issue with my lil one years ago but it was just to friends and a good talk reset the young 'un back to default settings.

PS: I don't know what the communication or disciplinary actions are in your home but if you can find a way to correct them outside of the hard-stanced Naija way, it might help. That doesn't mean that you should keep mute while your children are getting "rotten".

Also, get expert advice biko because children can sometimes keep up these tales and when they recant, it might be said that they were threatened into doing so.
Odedenshi1:
Hello all,

Please this is a long read. Pardon me please, I am anxious and scared. Please I need your advice because “I nor know where these people dey carry me go”.

I brought my children into the UK last year and we have been living together as a family since then including my wife. On the last day of their first term in school, my daughter who has learning needs was reluctant to leave school because on that day, the school was having an end of term party but surprisingly, no ticket was sent to us to purchase for her save for our other two children. Her favourite activity is dancing, so she was upset and crying when I went to pick her knowing that she will not be a part of the party. When asked what the problem was she stated that Aunty beat her, the school safeguarding lead called me and we had a meeting where I shared the possible reason why my daughter is upset with her, also informing her that no Aunty lives with us that she was upset because she had realised she will not be a part of the party. However, the school raised a safeguarding concern on the issue.

Fast forward to the last day of last term. My son (second child) who was 7years old as at the time, was on the queue going for lunch when a teacher went to call him under the pretence of going to show him something in the office. On getting to the said office, the school safeguarding lead was there, they started questioning the boy, shockingly he told them that we had a naughty room at home that it was the shed in the garden and alleged that he normally gets locked there when he is naughty (he later said he made it up). A second safeguarding concern was raised with the Police & Social services informed. When my wife went to pick the children, she was informed that she could not pick them because they were carrying out their investigation. The Police & Social worker came to our house checked round and stated that there was no evidence and dismissed the case with the Social Worker recommending and documenting that we shouldn’t be forceful in making the children do their home work in a way that will harm them, we agreed, signed the document and they left.

The following week the Social Worker called that she was coming to the house, we asked her to come. On getting to the house she stated that the school is pressurising her to do her assessment and recommend a family support worker for us but that we have a choice of declining and if we do, should anything happen in future, they will say they offered to help us but we refused so we had no choice than to accept. About a week later the Family Support Worker called, introduced himself and stated that he would like to pay us a visit which he did. He also did his assessment which he shared with me but surprisingly I noticed that in the first allegation raised they had also added that my daughter said Aunty beat her and dad hit her which was totally different from what the school safeguarding lead had shared with me.

Now I am seriously concerned because the school keeps coming up with different issues and asking for further referrals to be done. They alleged that my son stated twice last year he was hungry even though they have breakfast before leaving the house and we pay for school dinner for them. We have now introduced packed lunch for all three of them despite the fact that the last child is 4years old and supposed to be having free lunch in school.

Please kindly help a worried soul. I need advice on how to take up this issue to prevent the unthinkable from happening. Thanks for your patience

IHS is only refunded if the visa isn't granted; once it's granted, it won't be refunded even if you don't travel with the visa. If AR overturns the refusal, you can't use if for September. You'll need to rinse and repeat the whole process which includes POF for at least 28 days before your online submission.
Tboy243:
Alright
Thank you very much for your contribution. What now happens to the IHS fees I paid earlier, wouldn't it be refunded? Also if the AR becomes successful, could UKVI grant my Visa before the September cohort which I plan to defer to and does it mean i may not submit POF?
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by mimilyrics: 5:34pm On Feb 21, 2023
A successful AR means that they can easily issue you a new CAS for another entry if your course's latest date of arrival passes before the successful AR.
What this means is that if your school doesn't extend your latest date of arrival and your AR is successful, it is easier to get another CAS to apply for the session you defer to since they know that you have a high chance of being granted the 2nd time around.
Downside is that you'll need to pay your visa + IHS fees all over again.
Tboy243:
Thank you for your advise boss... The school is aware that I am chasing AR and have told me to go ahead with it via email, if I had not already done so and they're willing to accept me into the next cohort (September).. However, they have refused to outline the impact a successful AR would have on the fresh enrollment. This is the main reason I'm asking that... Am I good to go with the AR because I believe I have a good case.

To change the name on her passport in the UK, she needs her old passport, NIN with the new name she wants to change to, and a letter from you the husband about the change of name. Newspaper publication not needed.
For bank name changes, BRP/Passport in the new name and marriage certificate are okay; for all other name change purposes, BRP/Passport, Marriage certificate, and an utility bill in your name will usually suffice.
No need to change if you don't really want to though.
Sinchester:

Yes, we have all that is needed. We did the publication and all that before leaving Nigeria. We just didn't have enough time to do the change before leaving for the UK. Be like na to leave am like that jare. make she dey use her maiden name dey go.

Accommodation proof isn't necessary if you're only transiting.

Thank you very much for the information. My only concern is proof of accommodation. Since I'm only transiting through those countries, booking hotels will be a waste of money. But then it's one of the requirements.

Imperialmichael In addition to what dduchess90 has said, the sponsorship letter must clearly show at least 2 of the company's addresses in 2 different countries, their website address, contact details - phone and official email address, and states how much the company will be giving you.
dduchess90:
Hello

You would have to upload your sponsorship letter. If you are fully sponsored then that's all you need but If you are partially sponsored
then you need to submit the rest of the financial evidence.

Note that the ECO will be verifying this

You can bring your dependants when you are ready, if your sponsorship doesn't cover it then you have to provide their financial evidence

How and why did the school have issues with it? Did she flag it with them when she noticed it? Why did she continue using the name during her school process knowing fully well that it isn't the name on her passport and documents? As it stands, she will have to speak to the school and show evidence that they made the mistake and didn't correct it when it was raised.

Wait till you have your TB test result before booking to avoid being refused. You can always make your application later.
Babatiara:
Good morning folks. Please I need guidance on a very important matter. Wife got COS for care assistant role. She has all documents and has applied for visa. As dependant,I have to wait till late march to get TB certificate as I had to do sputum test. Should I go ahead and submit my application with the supposed February 15 deadline in view? Is it possible to choose early April for biometrics knowing that all my documents will be ready then?
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by mimilyrics: 6:44pm On Feb 06, 2023
1. If you print, you have 31 days from print date to submit your application - the funds must have spent at least 28 days in your account before print date. If not used within 31 days from print date, you won't be able to use it.
Alternatively, you can submit your application, print your statement and count 28 days prior to your application - this means that the funds must have been in your account at least 28 days before application submission.

2. Usually close to the black market rate because banks will deduct transaction charges and all banks end up using different rates.
Mcleo007:
Hi dduchess90, please I need a little clarification:

1. About the POF maturity and Visa application. Given that you're required to get your bank statement on the 28th day; does that mean that once you've generated the bank statement, you have to apply for the Visa with the next 2-3 days which would be the 29th, 30th and 31st day of the 1 month period? I ask this because, there's a chance the school might delay the issuance of the CAS, which might them encroach beyond 31 days or so.

2. Granted that Visa application is done online; at the point of payment for Visa fees and IHS, is the transaction charged on your debit card using official Naira to pound rate or Black market?

All you need to do is to
1. visit the link - https://www.gov.uk/apply-immigration-health-surcharge-refund
2. Fill out the required information.
3. Input NI number instead of BRP number
4. Provide the payslips for that period that you're claming for.
5. Wait for a response on the success of your application. If successful, it will be refunded to the card/account from which the payment was taken.
Note: As long as she worked in healthcare for the period for which she claims and has corresponding payslips, she should be refunded.

Something similar happened to someone I know few months ago. HR was adamant that the person didn't have a valid visa even though all necessary documents and guidance were sent to HR to show that the person made an in-time application. The company assumed that since they didn't give te person COS that the person was in the wrong whereas the person was on a non-point-based visa. HR said that they had to remove the person from their payroll even though the company was in the wrong. There was a compliance/disciplinary meeting called and the company still went ahead with the payroll scrub.

Long story short, the company finally carried out checks which came back after about 4 weeks and they had to pay the person for all the time that "they" weren't allowed to work. No apologies were offered probably due to the fact that they didn't want to admit that they were wrong. The person still works with the company but planning an exit already. Note: this was an employee that had already worked 5 straight years with the organisation and who shouldn't have been treated so unfairly.

My advice - get all the govt guidelines and every necessary document to them to run their checks. Each check is valid for 6 months and must be carried out every 6 months until the visa is issued or refused. If you're part of a union, get your union rep to advise you and attend the meeting with you. If not, you can get a well-versed immigration lawyer to go with you.
Try to be as professional as possible in all your communications with the company to ensure that the error is cleared up and that no bridges are burnt.
Worst case scenario, you can always go to the employment tribunal to get compensation for the unfair dismissal if they go ahead with their threat of dismissal. Think about this hard and long to be sure that you want to toe this path or you just wanna leave without any drama in the hopes that your application will be decided soon and you get another job - I say this because many people would rather not toe this line due to their personal reservations.
rollykotex:
Hi all, I just need some advice from experienced people in the house. My visa expired on the 30th of January 2023. I have applied for a renewal which is not out yet my biometrics is in the 9th of February. I told my employer on the 30th of January that my visa was expiring that day but I have submitted another application.
Naso wahala start. Calls from head office HR, that I currently don’t have visa and cannot work. They immediately put me on leave without pay starting from 31st until visa is sorted. I gave the HR my application reference number for them to carry out chef themselves, them no gree. Meanwhile I was the one that informed my manager just to be safe. It was not as if they reached out first that my visa was about to expire.
The latest one now is that they set up disciplinary action against me that I don’t have papers to work in the UK. I’m confused because everything just went out of proportion. The email I got says I can attend with a trade union or a work colleague and that it might lead to immediate dismissal and all.
I just need heads up on how to tackle this and if I really need to take someone with me for the disciplinary action.
Thank you all.

With UKVI, It is sometimes a waiting game and their delays have cost many people their registration deadlines.
You can try to contact them again but it is not a sure-tested way of quickening the process.
ElMejor10:
Hello House!! The whole thing with UKVI is really very tiring and frustrating. Did biometric at Tls Ikeja 30-12-22.. till this moment, no Decision made. I’ve made paid call twice/paid mail, escalated the case too but nothing yet. Was told to wait another 15 working days.. problem now is my school has resumed since 23rd.

Although I’m keeping them on the know, it’s still very annoying as application is stuck at DMC and if delay continues it may be impossible to meet up the deadline for late registration. Is there anyone with a similar case? I’m confused as hell
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by mimilyrics: 4:44pm On Jan 31, 2023
Yes but since your visa was issued, the process should be easier this time as long as you dot your Is and cross your Ts. Based on similar situations that I've seen, decisions are usually faster the 2nd time around.

But make sure that you follow up with your school if you hear nothing from them on the day that they are to start issuing CAS.

As long as your TB cert isn't expired by the time you apply, you don't need to do another one unless it is requested by the ECO.
Horlawale32:

Thank you, so i and my dependent will have to go over it again from the start, our tb will expire in May, my school already agreed to defer for me till May, can we still use the same TB for the visa application it expires in May we should be applying again by March God’s willing.
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by mimilyrics: 3:49pm On Jan 31, 2023
This is wrong.
Horlawale32 You will need to pay again. Even if not using your visa is caused by UKVI delays in making decision, your IHS won't be refunded. It will be refunded if your application was refused and a visa isn't issued but your case isn't so.
Now you'll need to speak to your school about deferring, get a new CAS when they start issuing it, Undergo a new TB test if the current one is expired, make your application, pay your visa and ihs fees, attend your biometrics appointment and wait for a decision.
IFSHR:

Deferring mean...you will need a new CAS....you will request for IHS refund...and it will be refunded into same card you paid with ... Since you have attended biometric and got a visa decision...so your visa fee is gone and when you reapply you will have to pay..

Ensure you write your school on time and as we start your ihs refund on time.....
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by mimilyrics: 3:46pm On Jan 31, 2023
You should be the one to check that you have the right information before saying that the information given is false. Once an application results in a visa being granted, IHS won't be refunded even if the visa isn't used.

Don't be in a rush to discredit information by other people when you haven't even found out if it is actually correct.

In your words, "if you are not sure about a situation, ignore than give false information".
IFSHR:

He/she won't pay for IHS again ..visa fee ? Yes....

If you are not sure about a situation, ignore than give false information.

Your school will let you know if you can defer or have to reapply.
You'll need to reapply for another visa if you defer or reapply.
Yes, you will pay IHS and visa fees again. You will also need to show that you've had the required funds in your account for at least 28 days before your online submission and payment.
Basically, you'll rinse and repeat the same process from start to finish again - with the exception of your TB test if it hasn't expired before then.

And if i am applying for another am I going to pay for visa fee and ihs fee again and still go through the normal pof 28days and all ?

Pls i need answers thank you all
