Born and raised in Lagos but my parents were very intentional about our native language, so it became an unwritten law that we were free to communicate in Yoruba and English but once we stepped into our compound it is 100% our native language and visiting relatives and my parents friends who were also from my tribe also joined the flow of communicating with us in our native language.

So today, I am very fluent in my native language and it recently earned me an unexpected engagement that paid me very well because it needed only someone who is skilled in my profession and could deliver the service in my native language.

Children have the capacity to learn and speak different languages simultaneously, why waste it by having them only learn and speak the English language or pidgin English.

What irks me more is when both parents are of the same tribe and speaks the same language and use it to interact between themselves but use the English language to communicate with their children.

I do agree with you to an extent. But then we have the Calhoun’s rodent utopia experiment which sorta suggest that this will have nothing to do with the scarcity of men. But have more to do the lack of [b]desire for mating [/b]and raising a family.

I think this is becoming a reality. Men world over are having apathy for marriage.

Those who got married are seeking divorce and returning back to bachelorhood. And the Western world and Asia is dealing with low birth rate and a declining population growth.

My take is the it has more to do with Calhoun’s theory or not scarcity of men. And the economic reality et wokeness is not having Issues.

The desire to mate has never been lacking, there is more sex around rather I would say an increasing percentage of men would prefer to be fathers without being husbands, this apathy towards marriage is not limited to men as women are increasingly leaning towards that especially in the West and by the next century it will be full blown amongst African women.

Most naija women against polygamy are Christians.

Our Muslim sisters have already been prepared for polygamy and since it’s a religious affair, they can’t really complain about it.

But why are our Christain sisters who are all firm believer of the Holy Bible and the prophecies encapsulated therein against polygamy?

I just don’t understand why they hate polygamy when the Bible in Isaiah 4:1 clearly prophesied that seven women will beg to marry one man in the last days. Is this not polygamy?

If the same Prophet foretold the birth of Jesus Christ, who birth was commemorated last week Sunday, and it came to pass, shouldn’t we be celebrating the coming of polygamy or the reinvention of polygamy back in Africa?

Are we not in the last days or is it that naija women just want to pick and choose which portion of the Bible to believe?

Why should we call ourselves Christians and firm believer of the Bible but hate polygamy?

Is this right?

"We will eat our own bread and provide our own clothes" foretold the economic empowerment of women, they only need to bear Mrs because of societal pressure and for 7 women to focus on one man is not a function of women outstripping the number of men alive but "scarcity" of men who meets "societal cut-off mark"............Nigeria with about 200 million people, do not presently have 25 million males and 175 million females rather in previous census counts in Nigeria, more males than females have been recorded........so why husband "scare"?

No, the court did not

It ought to, as I have relatives involved in similar case. The court froze everything, it was the first son that requested for out of court settlement because he became broke as he had no other means of livelihood. The sharing formula was agreed upon and documented before the case was withdrawn.

Children aren’t fools n they know who is on their side, no matter how much u give their mother to give them at least they will also need things that will involve u giving it to them directly

It is baffling when I read posts here on allegations that mothers manipulate the children against their responsible fathers and I do wonder how a man who is very present in his children' lives can successfully be painted a demon while the same children are experiencing his love, care and devotion. You will ask, are they the same fathers that their children feel very much comfortable relating with, that will be branded as deadbeat?

As a kid, I don't remember ever trying to get anything from my father through my mother when my dad's mumu button back then was scratching his back which puts him in a happy mood and regaling his own childhood memories......I can still picture myself scratching his back as I convinced him to give me money to pay for GCE form while in S.S.2 and he did.......how could my mother manipulate me to believe he is a deadbeat father?
