Let me use this Osinachi case as a case study.
If an autopsy comes out tomorrow and she didn't die as a result of DV. The husband is likely to triumph in court if enough evidence is not brought out that he had been battering his late wife

I hope the defense team would enlist the services of a government approved child psychologist to assess the children to give an insight into what happened in their home to build a solid case.

So far as the man owe her for damages and injury, she suppose use part of that "bride price" first cover am, she can refund whatever is left to him and his family.

I once wrote that a lot of folks are going about with undiagnosed neuropsychiatric conditions. Some may be subclinical but others may be so glaring that it takes a specialist only a few seconds to identify it.

We have been so stressed by our failing society and government that a good number of us now have some psychiatric manifestations without knowing it. We have so much anger and frustration flowing in our blood that at the slightest provocation, we explode.

Honestly, the government has a lot to do but sadly, it continues to perform far below expectations.

There need to be sustained effort in psychoeducating Nigerians in all our local languages, English and Pidgin inclusive on mental health issues, childhood traumas that transits to dysfunctionalities in adulthood.

I am more interested in childhood and adolescent stages of human growth and development thus I am pursuing my specialty in that area because those stages strongly influences the adults we become.

I believe workplaces, social clubs, places of worship etc should also invest resources to create awareness in helping people in identifying neuropsychiatric conditions and the need to access professional intervention.

There need to be more visual contents created around mental health issues.

Why did the husband flee? Go look for him, to tell you the reasons for his actions or even encourage him to post his own side of story online from his hideout.

That you witnessed the beatings growing up and have normalized it, will never justify it before a court of law.

I don't think Nigeria has prisons in government owned psychiatric hospitals, so once the courts establishes his culpability, he is ending up in prison and that would serve as a stern warning to abusive spouses who still nothing wrong in the abuse they perpetrate but sadly, abusers rationalize their actions.

The children would heal better, far away from such a toxic father as it is irrational to expect those kids to feel relaxed around a father whose toxicity led to the death of their mother.

The man is mentally disordered to still have those children under his toxic care. Those children needs to be separated from him till their adulthood.

Why should the children continue to be under the custody of such an abusive man? Why did he not all through the years of abuse not think of the consequences of his action?

I wish Nigeria has prisons within its Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospitals like in one I have worked in because he needs to end up in a
prison in such psychiatric facility after proven guilty by the court .

It is for the best interest of the children that the law separates him from them.......he is not fit to have custody of them.

If he gets prosecuted for bigamy, he will blame his Nigerian based wife as the cause of his woes. FIDA is not a court and can only provide a lawyer to represent her role square up with the guy's lawyer, so thinking there's anything special FIDA will do for her.

She can walk into the office of FIDA (The International Federation of Women Lawyers) to seek representation, such cases dey sweet dem die.

In cases like this, it is not about whether the daughter is ready or not, being a minor and should be under the custody of the parent(s) and would be brought back to Nigeria and would be in custody of the parent the Nigerian court deems fit.
