donbachi and surgical, a bit on Mr Tony Momoh:

(1) Dual degree in Mass Communication and Law

(2) Editor of the then leading newspaper in Nigeria (Daily Times) before many on this forum were born.

(3) Took the Senate to Court when he was asked to appear to reveal the source of his information. He was represented by Gani Fawehinmi.

(4) Became General Manager of Times Publication Group.

(5) Appointed Minister of Information and served for four years.

(6) Appointed Chairman of Nigeria Airways by the President he served as minister.

(7) Was DG media for Alex Ekweme in 1999 and 2003. He started working with Buhari since 2003 after Obasanjo sidelined those that worked with his opponents.

(8.) When Buhari was betrayed by his friends, Momoh stood by him, and when he was losing elections, Momoh stood strong.

(9) When Buhari formed the CPC, he preferred Momoh to lead the party.

(10) Momoh convinced Tunde Bakare (a non-politician) to run with Buhari in 2011.

(11) During Buhari's three outings, Momoh used his own personal funds to run campaign jingles for Buhari.

(12) When Buhari said he was retiring from politics, Momoh was one of those who convinced him to come out.

(13) Momoh it was who convinced Buhari to align with Tinubu and ANPP if power would be wrested from the PDP.

(14) When Buhari won, he asked Momoh to pick any position he wanted. Momoh told him he was too old to hold positions (at 76) and wanted a role that would not stress him. He requested and was made Pro-Chancellor of the University of Jos.

(15) Momoh wrote a book on media laws and ethics which is a reference material in our higher institutions.

(16) Momoh, I hear, has never helped members of his family get government jobs or contracts even though the President/ministers are a dial away from him.

(17) When Dangote wanted to bury a journalist for running damaging stories against him, Dangote released him after Momoh intervened.

(18) Femi Adesina was recommended to the President and told of his appointment by Momoh. Senior journalists and lawyers know and respect Momoh. Who knows the two of you outside Nairaland?

You asked that Momoh wants relevance. What other relevance does he need apart from what I listed above?

Many are coming out and defending Abba Kyari after he passed on. We wonder why people did not speak for him while he was alive. Now he's not here to defend himself. Without knowing Tony personally, I went to him and told him I wanted to go to school but did not have all the money. He donated something and got his friends to contribute. I will not wait for him to leave this life before saying the little I know of him.

Let us learn to respect our elders and keep quiet when we don't know the pedigree of our elders.
Nice epistle, still it does not change the fact he is wrong. Those at the top should be at the forefront of doing exactly what they demand the general populace to do and this is not rocket science. That is what ordinary Nigerians want to see.

Whatever my dear.
Top priority are the poor masses who are being treated so unfairly, always at the receiving end of the ruling elites incompetence and mediocrity. For every Kyari that may have died, there are an uncountable number of everyday Nigerians who have also lost their poor lives due to our bad leadership, our leaders refuse to perform.
The mess and shame that we have as Nigeria today was created and being maintained by the ruling class, the incumbent not excluded.
It may surprise you to know that number of people killed by our security men just this lockdown period may even be more than those killed by the corona virus itself.

Twinkletwin:
THIS IS A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE FROM NIGERIA LEADERS.
1- First they broke lockdown rules by flying him from Abuja to Lagos.
2- Then they treated him privately at First Cardiology in Ikoyi despite isolating other positive members of the public in the isolation centre.
3- Then they flew his COVID 19 positive body back to the Federal Capital Territory for burial.
4- Then they released his body for burial contrary to what Lai Mohammed said that COVID 19 dead bodies cannot be released for burial.
5- Then almost 500 – 1000 people gathered for the burial effectively breaking Federal Government rule that not more than 20 or even 50people can gather at a point in time.
6- Then, they dug a shallow grave for the body in the centre of town, Gudu cemetery.
7- And some there neither wore masks or any other PPE especially the gravediggers.
8- A man in Green native without PPE even touched the body whilst helping the workers in PPE.
9- Some workers in PPE were even seen touching their faces and goggles after touching the body with some’s clothes visibly running the dead body under from their PPE as they lowered the body into the shallow grave.
10- And the body was buried in just white traditional robes. No protection nothing for the people, or the environment.
11- No accounting for or planning that everyone at the burial must self isolate for 14 days after the burial.
How is this leading by example? How does a government make the rules and then shamelessly break the rules on National Television for all to see.
Abuja should brace for impact in the next 14days.
Pls somebody should show me where I can do change of country.
Nothing to add.

Ayoefa:
Rubbish.

The level of stupidity and gullibility in this country is totally out of control.
This is a burial not a party like Funke had at her house. This is a special circumstance where the rules cannot be enforced as in others.
In fact I know someone whose family member died this week. They were allowed to move from one location to another and were allowed to perform the burial without any govt interference.
Also, even the govt says that everyone should stay at home , but you are allowed to go out if you have a good valid reason to do so like buying food, fuel, going to the hospital, going to bury a dead family member.
Almost everyone in these pictures are wearing face masks and most importantly, they are there for BURIAL not for a party.
People should just get tired of speaking for their leaders who do continue to say one thing and do another.
If there was Social Distancing there, wouldn't the "burial" still be successful or isn't it their usual disregard for laid down rules and laws?

It is now somewhat of competition amongst States where they keep trying to outdo one another in the number of discharged per day as if they'll get rewarded.

We are still treating this issue with levity while it is even yet to take off here. By the time we get to the peak the highly politicized NCDC will lose count and seize to exist because of course as everything Nigerian, it is nothing but another means to settle cronies with appointments.

Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria. We behave reckless and stubborn in Nigeria, but when we travel out to white men's country we act coordinated at our best.

Simple lockdown and stay at home order has become very difficult to obey. Why offloading lifeless goods during this period of lockdown ? Well the driver of the goods must have bribed his way through the security personnel.

Wisdom 101 teaches that you don't argue with a man carrying gun, whether Armed Robber, Army, SARS or Police.

Anyways RIP to the death.
Nope. Wisdom 101 teaches that comments like this continue to fuel reckless killings by men of the Nigerian security forces for no just cause.
Absolutely not necessary unless Nigeria is truly a lawless country or zoo like some say. Wisdom should teach you that that very recklesssness that you pretend to condemn is exactly what the police exhibited in taking away the man's life.
If there was justice in this country the least the officer would get might be life imprisonment. He has no excuse to act like a drunkard/lunatic.

See a sample of kind of conduct you seem to condone:

Metrix147:
A middle-aged man identified as Friday was on Friday night shot dead by a trigger happy policeman in Ebem, Ohafia local government area of Abia state, ABN TV reports.

Since the commencement of the lockdown in Abia, this is the third time a security agent is killing innocent citizens in the state.

Our correspondent gathered that argument had ensued between the duo while the late Friday was offloading his goods in his shop located at Eni Njoku road, Ebem ohafia.

The policeman was said to have immediately shot the victim, leaving him on the pull of his blood.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlGm3BStoKc
He was later rushed to Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Umuahia where he was pronounced dead in the late hours of Friday.

This development has attracted the anger of the youths in the area who have started a peaceful protest, demanding justice for the late Friday.

It is normal in Nigeria to see force men kill people at slightest provocation and nothing really happens ever after.
The lives of the common people don't really matter, reason there are so many killings just this short period of corona lock down by armed security men: Civil Defence, Police, Army.
However when any of our leaders who are part of the reason why we suffer this much dies, their apologists will want everyone to cry them a river, be human, and speak no ill of the dead.
Most annoying part of it all is that all these killings are completely avoidable.
