Griezwoman: Soldiers and jungle justice Jungle justice because our justice system has failed. A better judicial system will definitely bring about lower occurrences of such. The probability of a criminal taken through the official process being punished is very high, reason many resort to self help albeit illegal. |

Ike justuru gwum. Speechless you've said it all. Very many women are so proud to debase themselves by the way they dress like some love peddlers, and later they turn around to complain that they are being they are not being treated with honor. I fear for the many young girls of today who are deceived by these so called celebrities as role models. |

Face topic. Same way you aer convinced Saraki is corrupt and should suffer, that is how many angered by the lootings are irritated that the likes are not being "found" guilty in the face of questionable wealth being thrown around and events. What is good for the goose is also good for the gander. |

winterfell007: He's actually talking about installed generating capacity at the moment. You are talking about the wheeling capacity of power evacuated which hovers around 3,000 to 4,000 megawatts. The issue isn't actually generation which is the easiest task to accomplish; it is actually the grid, they are too decrepit to function optimally and government have borrowing money to revamp it but I'm yet to see any improvement How will it ever happen when the real intent was never there? And such a system where power is exclusive to FG is what we prefer and hope to be out of this mess? |

All this goes to further confirm the hopelessness of our system. As usual, follow up on these can't get as far as getting the perpetrators of these and teaching them the lesson they won't forget. Imagine such typical tankers not worthy of being in the road being driven by typical most unskilled/unqualified drivers, with no real worthiness check by those who should do so but who are only concerned about taking thier usual bribe and looking the other way.
Amazing nobody is ever held accountable. |

Neoteny: How does one prepare for "unforeseen circumstances" if the circumstances can't be foreseen?
Even advanced countries with all their forecasting technology can't foresee earthquakes and storms early enough to prevent disaster. You think the US is happy that wildfires destroy lives and property?
You people think government is made up of magicians and wizards...... Isn't it foolish ranking natural disasters (earthquakes, storm) as same with completely avoidable man-made Tanker accidents? Nigerians are so quick shirk responsibility and resort to excuses for things that are very much within their control rather than own up. Frankly speaking (not just thinking), Nigerian governments are made up a bunch of corrupt, failures, never-do-wells, the worst crop of people the nation can ever have as leaders. |

They do meetings upon meetings n how to improve the face of onitsha, levy people and chop the money. Just leave matter. I talk as an insider. Na my place be that o.
Onitsha has what it takes to be mega city but.... I'm just so mad. My mum told me that this kind of incident happened in late 90 killing not less than 15 people. No fire service. A tanker filled with fuel fall down and fire started.
They didn't learn anything but waiting for govt. Isn't that shameful? Truth, the people are so laid back on such issues just like the governments too who themselves too are notorious for not getting such basic things achieved. |

Insane! "Thankfully" our governments are "wise" enough to decide they won't have rugged and responsive emergency fire fighting teams to promptly wade in and lessen the impact of such disasters. Our emergency response culture and readiness is so wierd and hopeless. As usual, the people are left to sort themselves out. We can see burnt dead bodies of some victims of such avoidable calamity. Such a failed system. |

Skyfornia: The border remain closed....Our forefathers ate local rice and lived healthy. It shouldn't be rocket science to make available to the consumers destoned local rice, not even in this century. If the finished product (rice) is actually in the right finished form (destoned), I wonder why there naturally won't be buying pressure on the local rice, which many even prefer. It's useless putting the cart before the horse. Those who run the system who where the issue lies, whether they truly choose to fix it is a different story entirely. |
Food › Re: Nigerian Rice: A Call For Better Rice Mills by mindtricks: 11:17am On Oct 16, 2019 |
netpro: With all the efforts of the present administration to encourage the cultivation, production and consumption of locally produced rice, one reoccurring complaints from Nigerians is the presence of stones in the rice.
Many people will even accept to pay more for a foreign rice over a cheaper local ones. Some dubious marketers have even gone to the extent or rebagging local rice as foreign.
I wish to call on the government Local, States and the Federal to invest in establishing state-of-the-art modern Rice Mills. Even private businesses can own one, especially in States with rice farming. Also existing Mills needs to be upgraded immediately.
I believe a well processed local Nigerian Rice will encourage patronage and consumption.
Proudly Nigerian. Government's lip service is the summary of it all. They act like they mean it, but infact they don't mean it. |
