ngwababe: Bros, I'm justifying nothing, I just asked a question.
It's high time we told ourselves the truth. Our force men no get joy. They are being maltreated by their bosses, and them inturn, rests it on us. And the more we get to know these, the more we start avoiding there wahala, because old people talk say, na person wey die na him own worst.
Bros I ask again, where was he rushing to? Him be kidnapper?
Hmm. I just don't how it happens, but at the mention of Nigeria lawlessness, Lunacy, banana Republic quickly comes to mind. In the usual Nigerian way, still nothing will happen to those killers.
BlackfireX: He is a nobody, who wants to bring down an elected govt.... You better keep quiet, before you implicate yourself.
By doing peaceful protests right? And the real killers with blood on their hands keep roaming free and can never be nailed or tamed. Yes "better keep quiet" because in our dear Nigeria self expression is a privilege not freely given. If you dare speak against the ills going on in the society you must be "implicating yourself" and must be silenced? Tell me more my good friend.
UtuokeAlcoholic: If they release him and he found his way or disappeared, what evidence/witness do they have to convince the public/stakeholders that they release him.
You seem so comfortable with the rubbish being thrown at Nigerians every now and then. So they don't know any way to get proof of releasing one who has been in their custody for so long except by still keeping him in detention against the order of the court? Maybe for example if they gathered the press to witness his release that cannot be a proof right? Nigerian way of doing things really suck and keeps amazing the world.
adelaja70: Una no dey tire ni? This same Buhari transfer power to his vp more than twice in their first term and none of you crying forced to do so. And Buhari is the only and first president that have done so since 1999....So enough of the noise Abeg.
Crying ko, Weeping ni. Obviously in a shamelessly backward country like Nigeria where it has become a tradition to do things in reverse order and you are used to it, it is a taboo and noise and irritating to expect things to be done properly. From your standpoint I guess the president will only be doing Nigerians a favour should he should he hand over officially and not perform such functions on foreign lands, after all we are in a banana r_______c (abeg help me complete the phrase).
BrokeFucker007: Naija police don't know what mercy is so same should be done to him. I feel sympathy for a goddamn cockroach than the naija police, I wouldn't spill half cup of water if it will save the life of a naija policeman if he's life depends on it. Of prefer to save a snake than to plead on behalf of naija police. if a naija police is about to be mobbed to death and all I have to say is leave h and he will live I wouldn't speak for two days. They're the closest thing you can see to a devil, I don't see any of them in that uniform as a human being.
Not denying many of them are bad. But you will be shocked there are still good ones.
His expectations were high. In 2016, I remember how he used to talk about what would become of Nigeria after Buhari's first tenure.
He got really angry when Buhari started using the DSS to attack and prosecute judges. He felt it was outright abuse of power and criticized the move heavily on Radio Continental ( now Max FM)
Don't mind those empty heads who choose to see things from their myopic stand point. The day you stop supporting the rubbish they do you become an enemy of State, and that is how we are supposed to move forward. Ubani is just one of the many who were disillusioned with this confused bunch in charge.
Monogamy: Both old and young people from East reasons same way..
Buhari's trip to UK is just for 2 weeks ( 14 days) The constitutions mandated he must hand over if he will be unavailable for 21 days.
This people should stop whinning around jor
Can't you Africans abi Nigerians ever get fed up with doing things in reverse order? Why must every single thing even those that common sense dictate be spelt out in your constitution which you even hardly respect before you consider it reasonable to do? What is so bad in handing over to your deputy when you are away, or is he just there for nothing sake? I guess when barrister Ubani's take favoured the presidency and the president even had to give him some special recognition you thought he was from Chad. Now that his take is against the nonsense that the presidency just did, he definitely is from the East. People should get fed up with such nonsense jor!
DedeNkem: In a real Democracy, all security agencies supposed to get a warrant from a Court of law to seize anything!
EFCC and ICPC were given too much powers. They could just arrest you or seize your property and demand that you prove you're not a criminal before you or your property is released! That's wrong!
I'm glad they now must have permission from AGF to seize anything. But on the other hand, I don't even trust the present AGF! They're all corrupt!
Nigerians be acting the holier than thou If you are in Benin city niggarrr Let me position you so we can drink some bottles, smoke some weed and bang some ladies after that i will teach you some shit about life
Let me tell you a secret niggarrr
We don't actually hate corruption We only hate the fact that we are not the one carrying out the corruption
The bolded's more like the truth abeg, though I don't agree with all you wrote.
Kastrom: Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I just finished serving last month and I got a job offer of 40k. I am a B.Sc holder, graduated with second class upper. I need your candid advice whether I should accept or decline the job offer.
What you stand to take out of it beside the pay, like experience, exposure, potential for it to help you get a better job, skills are very key. S Note that some jobs will lock you down and take all your time such that you won't have enough space to improve your Self worth and widen your chances of getting a better job.
seunmsg: People prefer to believe the negative news anyway. Several videos of Lagos fire fighters and others battling the fire are available online but some people preferred to happily trend the video of a lone man using bucket to pour water on the fire.
It’s easier and more acceptable to sell the story of a broken down Nigeria where nothing works than to sell a story of a Nigeria where government agencies actually responded to handle an emergency.
As for Hopkins, she should fvck off with her racist opinion. We all saw how badly the incompetent British fire fighters handled the greenfell tower where over 70 people lost their lives.
If you bet that Nigerian government agencies failed to do their jobs right, 99.9% of the times you know you will win.
By the way, in emergency situations, how long it takes the team to respond is critical and as important as whether they come at all or they don't. Natural expectations is that they will respond in shortest possible, except as usual we can excuse that this is Nigeria.
grandstar: It is better for the Naira to be undervalued than be too strong. A weaker currency reduces the demand for imports.
First and foremost, stating we import everything isn't true but the country can do much better.
What policies has the government put in place to bring in more forex? None. Nigeria by now should have foreign reserves of $80bn at the very least.
The smart money is on generating forex and not on conserving forex by buying made in Nigerian goods. Developed countries are massive importers of goods themselves. The only difference is that they are also massive exporters. That is where Nigeria falls short.
Trust me, there's nothing wrong in importing rice since we lack comparative advantage in its production. For us to produce rice, that simply means it will be dearer than the imported ones. This makes no sense.
Rather, government should put resources into commodities that Nigeria has comparative advantage in. Sheabutter if fully harnessed can bring in as much as $2bn yearly as reckoned by experts. Snails exports can yield up to a $1bn. Nigeria can become a big exporters of thousands of tons of honey. The forex generated from shea butter alone can take care of rice imports. Thailand exports $1.8bn worth of farmed shrimps yearly.
Since the country lacks comparative advantage in rice production, smuggling will continue to persist. The smugglers will simply device new ways to ship it in. If the price of rice remains dear, there could be fury on the streets.
As for cement, Nigerians were net losers. Cement in Nigeria is one of the most expensive in the world. There was a year that Dangote made sales of N248B and had after tax profits of 124.2Bn. That means if he slashed the price of cement by half, he would still make a net profit. Nigerians were shortchanged. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to know that that more construction will be carried out if price of cement crashed today. For every job that Dangote creates directly, probably as much as ten is lost in the construction industry. Many constructions projects were abandoned when the ban of cement was introduced. A Nairalander here said as much. He was angry and outraged.
If the only way a country can produce something is to ban it first, then such a country need helps.
folks4luv: Why exactly are people bashing the guy? The didn't say people should not eat local rice, he only complained about the quality. We should not be picking stones inside rice in 2019, what happens to quality control?
Banana Republic quickly comes to mind. This is Nigeria. In Nigeria like we know there are no rules.
ajl: As usual the government is failing to play one of its major function, regulating and overseeing that products with minimum level of standard enter the market. Corruption won't let them. I heard a Ghanaian minister say on online tv show that only Nigerian market will accept Ghana's sub-standard mango juice, which they dare not attempt to export to Asia or Europe.
Exactly. That is how sorry our situation is and there's no hope in sight with the way things are going. Wonder why these corrupt crooks running the country should bother where the people will accept whatever crap thrown at them in the name of progress.
nonye6194: He is now riding on his Nigerian Prisons story to be a nuisance. There are different grades of rice all over the market, at different rates too. Some are properly processed, while some aren't (partly because they don't have access to state of art facilities the big tier firms such as Olam, Coscharis rice Mills, etc have). A good number can't access loans or aids from banks/government to boost their businesses and improve their final product. Be patient with our local farmers and over time things would get better.
But no, some will bash the efforts some are making to ensure food security for Nigeria.
"Patience" is the way to go because as long as it is Nigeria we must have the worst experience of these things (such as stony rice) before they can improve. I guess Nigeria is truly a banana Republic like some say, hence no rules, no quality checks or controls. Where there is no standard anything goes.
lol lagosian like to console themselves with that bullshít story. na lagosian dey suffer pass if you know you know.
Why all this comparison? It is completely unnecessary. Nigeria's leaders have generally been known to be irresponsible, whether they come from the East or the West.
firfinch: You would be surprised that nobody did that to the seller intentionally, it could be that it was left opened overnight, and the wall ghecko fell into it
Most likely. That is product of carelessness, which blame they should still take.
semyman: Some will ever be biased, goods destined for for Nigeria and Nigerians shipped into other countries, ferried across unmanned illegal routes and people even like what you wrote here?
Border closing was never the full story. There is so much more favourable things that government can do (to achieve desired results were they sincere), which they stiff-neckedly will never make happen because they are not that committed. Nigerians deserve better than this.
Introvertedmarc: Peter Obi, vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019 presidential election, says people in power do not get told the truth.
Obi spoke on Friday as a guest speaker at the first convocation of Chrisland University, Abeokuta.
Speaking on ‘Creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship: A critical intersection for economic development in Africa’, Obi said the challenges besetting the country are many.
He noted that the failure of the leaders to invest in education and entrepreneurship led the country to its present economic state.
He blamed the leaders for their roles in promoting corruption.
“The truth is that in Nigeria, the problem is over 75%. The country has been criminalised. Quote me, I am talking from experience of somebody who had served, I was there for eight years,” he said.
“What I found in Nigerians and your parents here, including me, I am a victim of that, I was governor for eight years, you can hardly see anybody who tells you something is wrong.
“Everybody calls you his excellency, that since you came, things have changed, even, when you know that nothing has changed.
“It is just that we have a government that has criminalised the society and people celebrate criminality. So, nobody could say to them, stop.
“Those who steal, if they come to church they will give them front seats, so, why would they not steal? They are the ones who are given chieftaincy tittles, they are the ones who get tittles in the world. So, we need to change all that.”
He urged the youth not to “toe the lines of the previous leaders in the country”.
Peter has just told some truth. Same thing many have been saying, but as usual ever available sycophants and yes men will refuse and keep denying and insisting things are all fine.
Sagay212: You shouldn't bother because you have no answer to the questions asked. Some you guys think everyone Nigerian is enjoying and okay like you. Only if you know the number of uneducated and unenlightened Nigerians we have out there. Many of them are not even aware of the so called senseless operation show ID by the govt. Shey na fulani man wey dey inside forest with cows wan get voters or ID card, abi aboki wey dey shine shoe or fishermen wey dey village or the hunters struggling to feed?
The operation is useless and pointless. Secure your territory and don't allow illegal entry. Focus on developing the country. It should be operation fix roads, hospitals, education, feeding and operation family planning especially in the north. Tell your govt to stop chasing shadows and wasting time, money and energy on useless operations.
The bolded captures it all. Unfortunately these guys are used to all manners of mediocrity being churned out which to them is excellence.
