donstan18:Lol! Yes. It's not "lesbian attitude"; it's affectionate attitude. Look at that picture up there and tell me if it would be awkward if those were two sisters, or a mother and a daughter? But that's the point, isn't it? Men don't feel comfortable being affectionate with each other because society judges it. The instances earlier mentioned, just show that touching is not always sexual amongst men either. Someone up there was blaming feminism for these inhibitions Society isn't even a feminist's ally (at the moment); it's unquestionably male (not female) and chauvinistic (not liberal). When we talk about it being a "man's world", it just puts men at the top of the food-chain (or social cadre); they've got full expression. So if you're looking for someone to blame, look to yourselves. When you're ready to endorse hand-holding amongst yourselves, we'll learn to accept it too. If you want to call your paddy boo, then let's fight that male chauvinist pig, that is society, together. |
MensCabal:Yes. I said earlier, "the more popular mix..." . This implies that there is a comparison between two items. And then I said, "for a heterosexual man". Which do you think is more popular amongst straight guys, doing it with two girls or a guy and a girl? That should be your argument: that two guys and a girl is a more popular mix amongst straight guys, than two girls and a guy. Is that what you're saying? |
donstan18:I don't believe that all men are promiscuous. But those who are promiscuous are naturally so. I also don't believe that all women are not promiscuous. And those who are promiscuous are naturally so. And if promiscuity were a crime, then people would have to exercise self discipline to regulate their actions. Every human being (of sound mind) has the ability to refrain from action; it's on this premise that laws are even possible. We have the ability to suppress our urges. The fact that you're hungry does not justify stealing food from someone else. The fact that you're aroused by a girl does not justify raping her. And if an angry belly or blue balls would keep us out of jail, we do it. But promiscuity is not a crime because there are no victims (or are there? If a broken heart counts ). It's simply a vice. Only with women though. So promiscuous women are inclined to discipline themselves, while promiscuous men do not bother. Instead, they point to their DNA - the same markers that should absolve promiscuous women. The point is, that discipline is possible. And even if there's no penalty to scare you into behaving, the love and respect you have for your spouse (or whatever is holy in your book) should make you want to discipline yourself. But naturally, human beings respond more effectively to the stick. Sorry. This has now become a conversation about promiscuity instead of homosexuality, as per OP. Anyway, there are parallels: people who are naturally gay are compelled to deny their urges because, unlike promiscuity, homosexuality is a crime here. But, like with promiscuity, there are no victims (or are there? If someone's upset stomach counts . They still have the option of minding their business though)3-some mustn't be 1:2 ladies, reverse could be the case.Yes. I said earlier, "the more popular mix..." . This implies that there is a comparison between two items. And then I said, "for a heterosexual man". Which do you think is more popular amongst straight guys, doing it with two girls or a guy and a girl? You said football players, but all class of ladies does the same, whether football or not. Okay, I'll try to give you a more comprehensive list... 1. Football players 2. Basket ball players 3. Hockey players 4. In fact, any team sport 5. Or team sport supporter 6. Or a team sport coach 7. Indians 8. Guys who have been through an ordeal together 9. Guys who haven't seen each other in ages 10. Guys who have been saved by their co-worker from getting fired 11. .............I'm tired. |
It's the hypocrisy of patriarchal culture again; and this view (that women are naturally inclined to be lesbians) is just as skewed as believing men are biological inclined to be promiscuous while women are monogamous in nature. Society hangs women for promiscuity but not the men; it's really no wonder that men have no desire (and therefore no muscle) to discipline themselves. Most men get turned on by watching two women kiss, or perform sexual acts on one another. The more popular mix for a heterosexual man's 3-some is two women and one man (and not two men and one woman). In the end, even though they're only catering to the man's needs, those women are going to be lesbians for one night. And it's okay in that context: it's a 3-some, and no one would think of chanting "14years". Even if the Special Anti-Homosexual Squad arrived at the crime scene, the presence of the man would amount to an "extenuating circumstance". It's clear that men aren't disgusted by lesbianism. And since society (men, patriarchy) condones lesbianism and not ma-man gay sex, it's become bolder in public spaces (the same way that male promiscuity has become bold) . And now they want to say that all women are biologically disposed to be gay? I don't think so. There are gay women and straight women; just like there are gay men and straight men. And there are men who are promiscuous and men who are not; just like there are women who are promiscuous and women who are not. By the way, that thing in the picture doesn't show lesbian activity; a kiss on the cheek That's just being affectionate; it's nothing sexual. Don't get it confused just because you're growing over it. Have you not seen football players plant aggressive kisses on a team mates cheek while celebrating a goal? Or slap each other's butts? Do you want to call that homosexual activity? |

Wend1:Any particular reason? |
Wend1:Is this a set-up ![]() |
![]() This woman! What an unbelieving way to speak! Even if honest Nigerians are in the minority, must you say that Nigerians are thieves? Don't you know that the power of life and death lies in the tongue? Don't you know that no matter how ugly the truth is, you have to keep professing positively for there to be a change? Don't you know that we can blame you for all thieving Nigerians because of this your careless comment. Don't you know that you are de- marketing us when you broadcast your private experiences with Nigerians? How can you say that Nigerians are thieves on a public forum? Do you want the whole world to know that we know? Hian! Please, even if they want to call us thieves, we should not use our own mouths to paint ourselves black. If their own is racism, what do we call this one? Is it not foolishness? If you say Nigerians are thieves, are you not a Nigerian? Are your brothers and sisters not Nigerians? Even if your mechanic tells you to bring fifteen thousand naira for six thousand naira brake pads, can you not overlook that for the sake of your own brothers and sisters? Your own blood fa! Is blood not thicker than water again? Please, don't generalize like this again. Unless you say something positive like "Nigerians are good people", then we don't mind. |
kingxsamz:This is like accusing the mirror of trying to make you look fat. ![]() True, not everybody wants to watch gay love on TV. Not everybody wants to see heterosexual love either. It disgusts gay people just as much as you are disgusted by them. But they respect your preferences, so instead of making noise about all the "in-your-face heterosexual sex", they simply change the channel. It is you choice. |
.........mischievous.Why is he saying "women were not created to be mated by multiple men; only animals were"? I would expect that to be either... Women were not created to be mated by multiple partners; only men were created thus.......or Human beings were not created to be mated by multiple partners; only animals were created thus. Why is he trying to make the comparison with animals when a more closely related specie to the woman (the man) exhibits the same characteristics? Smh. There's no need to bring animals into this when human beings are equally promiscuous. And while he's at it - defining the purpose of woman's creation: yes, women were not created to be mated by multiple men. Or any one man. Every woman has been created uniquely and for a unique purpose, which she's come to discover for herself and fulfill in her time on Earth. |
ice4u999:Everything in context.......a broken marriage is much better than a horrible one. Even for the children. So if you don't want to celebrate it, that's fine, you can mourn if you please. But the op knows best what ordeal she's just escaped to give herself a chance to live. I commend her courage and celebrate her emergence from that unhealthy union. If she's happier now, then I'm happy for her. Congrats, sis. |
greiboy:Lol! . Whatever it is, at least we can agree that it is not "being nice". ![]() Being with a man that's such a pushover can leave a person feeling very guilty about accepting these niceties. It's like taking advantage of someone who's physically or mentally challenged. You want them to do nice things for you, but you're wondering if you're being a bully. And when you try so hard but cannot find their limits, it just starts to feel like a trap. |
There's a thin line between nice and patsy. Serving breakfast in bed, taking care of her needs, and watching the kids are all nice things. But then she says she deliberately tries to push his buttons: she clubs with her friends, probably (hypothetically) hooks up with guys to provoke him. She expects him to get jealous and angry, but all he says is, "that's okay, baby, I know you're only having fun" That's crossing the line from nice to patsy. A patsy isn't nice; he's a pushover. No resistance or integrity. It does not come from a desire to please; it's rather a manifestation of a person's inability to stand up for themselves. That's not an attractive quality at all, and it is frustrating for all parties concerned. |
Abeycity97:You're welcome, dear. Maybe on a day when you're trying to reassure your gf about some major decision in her life, be sure to tell her that she has good instincts and that she should trust herself more. Then you say, "like that time when you were suspecting that I was cheating with Amaka, you were actually spot on." She won't know whether to be happy about the compliment (and being right) or angry about your cheating. ![]() I'm sorry, couldn't resist . Seriously now, maybe you try taking a hard and serious stance with your ex first, and see how it goes. Don't give in to her demands. If this doesn't work, then open up to your gf. She will rake, of course, but keep things in perspective: you love her and are ready to move on with her; you were in a position you found somewhat overwhelming, and coming clean about this would help you squash whatever thing you had going on with your ex. It's an explanation, not an excuse. Don't forget to be very very sorry. But I'm not supposed to be directing you like you're a character in a book. You are your own person and you know what you want. Good luck. |
Tohzara:You actually made me cry with this. Very well said. You're blessed, my friend. |
Tohzara: , thanks. A beautiful morning to you too, sweetie. |
It's too late for "no drama". Tell your gf that you cheated with your ex (so that your ex won't have any material to blackmail you with). She'll forgive you if it's meant to be. Leaving an ex is messy for a lot of people. After that, you'll find that it would be easier for you to stand your ground when the ex comes begging you for sex; because you know your gf will be watching you. Of course, this is only if you really want to stop dicking around. |

Girl, have some self-respect. As long as you don't, it's not his fault that he disrespects you. If you're hating yourself to love someone, then there's something seriously wrong.....
|
See comments. ![]() The policeman's reaction to your report was sad and disgraceful. But the real tragedy is that Nigerians have been so desensitized to this kind of impudent misconduct that they laugh at you for reporting to the police. Smh, there's no hope. |
Are you sure he was everything you wanted in a man? Isn't being supportive of your ambitions part of what you look for in a partner? It's your life; What do you really want out of it? If you have a clear picture in front of you, you would be able to put these so-called "losses" along the way in proper context. What would you rather: give up the man, or give up becoming a doctor? If it's the man you want, then make the necessary sacrifice to be with him. Even chose a career he's comfortable with if that gets you what you want. Just be warned that it is foolish to look for your happiness in another person. It's a lot of pressure and he can leave you tomorrow You have to find your happiness in yourself. Be a person with personal goals, drive and direction; before you're a person in a relationship. Don't lose yourself. If it is the med career you want, then you would find people who support that ambition. There are plenty men who want to marry doctors. Maybe you might even end up with a professional colleague, it happens a lot. If you really want to be a doctor, you would realize you dodged a bullet with this one. |
Tozara: ![]() |
Tozara: Yes, marriage, in its old form, gave women financial security and men a girl Friday. That structure is surely broken and outdated. Because those things are not traded across the table anymore. We have each developed our own skills and self sufficiency, so we can focus on love and companionship. It's no longer a necessity for survival and will be desirable only if (and for as long as) it improves the quality of the individual lives involved. It's a matter of perspective and expectations. A fifteen year long marriage that ends in divorce, shouldn't necessarily be seen as a massive failure if it was good while it lasted. |
Tozara:Howgh! and a good morning to you too. I've been good, sweetie. ![]() |
BabbanBura: . Suit yourself. Although, with an active imagination, some lube and your left hand; you could have been liberated from the shackles of a girlfriend much sooner. |
Tozara: |
![]() If men decide to eat the contents of that pot, they won't survive for much longer either. You guys should just learn how to cook and clean after yourselves. That's the way to replace women in your lives if you're so determined to do that. Just as women have learned to be financially independent. It's not rocket science. This whole doll-baby business is becoming really pathetic. Just hurry up and figure this out; the feminist woman is already waiting for you at the finish line, so that we can negotiate the terms of a modern relationship between two equally independent adults. |
hopefulLandlord:I think it is on only on weekdays. |
sonofluc1fer: oh no! I have to think of something. |
hopefulLandlord:It's on by 3pm......I like to be in traffic by that time, whenever it's possible, just for that. Sorry, You can google info 92.3 for more information. |
hopefulLandlord: , isn't religion one of our biggest problems? Anyone who evades that is not really serious about addressing our issues. It's not called HARD facts for nothing. |
sonofluc1fer:Yes, it is short for Nigeria Info. Dayo Elusakin presents Hard Facts, and he's very intellectually provocative. I hope you're doing something serious with your talents as well. You're good. |
