Not like I am against private ownership of our refineries. It's a good thing if our commonwealth is in the hands of the people who can run it out of government. Capitalism has its uses but also has its limit.
The issue for me is, govt, especially people like Buhari cannot end up plunging Nigeria into an abyss and expect Nigerians to be the one to pay for it. Bros those refineries can work if the govt is serious about it. Have you ever wondered? We have presidential jets which are working optimally with no problems but can't keep refineries working. How come?
Govt must sit their lazy and over-pampered asses down and seriously get to work on those refineries. Then they can get to work on selling them to private investors for a profit. That's the way to go. Not transferring their corruption and inefficiency to hapless citizens in the name of privatization or deregulation

Oga we have more advanced and complicated structures than refineries in Nigeria and they are working perfectly. a case in point is the LNG, EGTL, etc. the problem with the refineries is that they keep making losses. who sustains a company that keeps making losses month in month out? you sell below market price with an overbloated staff that cannot be downsized due to unionism, favouritism and government policy of quota system and you expect government to keep sustaining the rot with scarce resources that can be use for infrastructures? as it is now the government cannot keep up with these inefficiencies just because of pride, no.

You are totally ignoring cost of producing and potential profits. That's why America for example imports aluminium for cheaper even though they produce it and use the cheap aluminium to fabricate useful products like aircraft that they then sell to other countries.

Saying government has no business in business is wrong as it is a way for them to generate revenue. Otherwise state owned enterprises wouldn't exist.

your journey too far. you need to go for an economics crash course for you to come to level. on the other hand let me give you some head start.
1. when you export, you increase your foreign exchange, create jobs and improve the economy.
2. when you import your foreign exchange is depleted, it means you are paying the salaries of those workers in those countries while industries in your country will be closing shops. companies are closing shops because they cannot compete with foreign companies who see Nigeria as a dumping ground.
3. on the refineries, one thing you should know is that government has no business in business. government is all about welfare so it is right for government to want to deregulate the oil and gas industry. when Dangote come on stream, those 4 refineries would be dead. so why fix them?

this is the most stupid fake news I have read in a long time. it is a simple logic everywhere that you don't change (watermark or what not) a ballot paper without informing both parties of the change. when you say something is original, it is assumed and agreed that it is a standard. a standard is not agreed by one person but by all involved. so Biden's lawyers will be going to court to show that those so called ballots are fake. even in Nigeria, before inec conducts elections they invite stakeholders to show them the ballot paper so that when they see a fake one théy will know.
