tuzeriouz: if sudan kenya and cameroon can place orders then there is nothing to be celebrated about. with prudent management of resources nigeria should be looking at TGV. Outside of Europe how many countries use TGV? Does Nigeria need to pay that premium now? Why not build up a viable network and then go from there? In the same way that you wouldn't buy your daughter a Rolls Royce as a first vehicle it doesn't make sense for Nigeria to buy TGVs. |

I'm happy to see more park spaces being opened up in Lagos, it's very much needed.
But can Nigerians stop with this 'ultra-modern' nonsense. There is nothing 'modern' about this park.
Also, why not name the park after one former governor and then build something else in honor of the other two? No one is going to call this park by its full name. It will be the first name that people remember and will use. |

Her story is very sad and an example of how the overwhelming majority of the people who left for Europe via Libya were badly let down by their foolish parents.
Everyone wants to blame the state and federal government but they don't create people that they can't cater for; they don't abuse children; and they aren't the ones telling their children to go to Europe illegally.
Nigerians need to start holding poor leadership to account, at all levels and that begins in the home.
P.S. I didn't read anything about her evil father being arrested. Why? |

chloedogie: I've enjoyed exchanging ideas and facts with you all day but on this emboldened part, I'm done bro. I don't have discussions with people that speak that way. I stand for unity, honesty, love, tolerance and growth. Whatever the colour or race is, we have the same physical structure, blood both run in our veins and we are all humans. black, white, blue red etc. Languages just dif. have a good day. That is a very naive thing to say. The north and the south are very different culturally - hence why the north sees nothing wrong with child marriage. Nothing wrong with almajiri and nothing wrong with refusing to invest in schools only to use a similar amount on pilgrimage. Ideas divide us. Especially those that have been indoctrinated into us from birth, as is the case with Islam and Christianity - two very dangerous, stupid ideas that have been allowed to destroy west Africa with Islam having been the most dangerous by quite some distance. P.S. Why are you bringing up red, blue, white etc and we're talking about Africa? |
Politics › Re: Governor Ganduje Inspects Projects By 1am (Photos) by mmsen: 1:15pm On Dec 06, 2017 |
geometricaxis: I dont hear people from the North complaining about the issues you raised. The elite benefit from the status quo and the masses are too ignorant to understand the implication of their backwardness so if you waiting for the North to change you will wait forever. For the North, Oil money is free money and since they are not really interested in uplifting their masses, the little Oil money they get is enough to distribute amongst their elite...........and by the way the longer you wait the more the south themselves become like the North i.e a large uneducated (or poorly educated) ignorant bunch, largely unemployable and incapable of adding real value to an economy besides consumption only really useful come election time.. You've just said everything that I've said. The young lady I was arguing with just checked out because she didn't like the fact that I suggested that southern Nigeria break away from the north because she, like you and I, knows the truth. |

chloedogie: When the south and west were going to stop the parasitic dependence on the north back in the years of the pyramids, the north never knew attention was shifting to oil and thanks to bad administraors that completely abandoned and dumped agro that was highhandedly feeding us as a nation before. The north are retracing their steps now and going back to it. when south and west wake up to discover that a barrel of oil goes for 5 dollars and the cost of production alone goes for 15 dollars, it might be too late. That 5 dollar barrel isn't coming any time soon. But I patiently await the day the north stops being dependent on southern money. Stops the practice of child rape. Stops overpopulation. Deals with the malnutrition issue. Deals with the almajiri issue. Stops cow herders from killing farmers from Kaduna onwards. Pushes for fiscal federalism. When that happens then Nigeria might progress. The other option is for the north to go its own way, thus unburdening the south from its fecklessness. |

What are they doing about ensuring that children are not raped and then told that they are 'married'? What are they doing about desertification? What are they doing about overpopulation? |

chloedogie: You are joking. I went to pick up a car i just bought from kano recently. I had my left leg on the dashboard for more than 90% of the time. The roads are second to none. Driving from Abuja to Lagos which I always do has only two good spots until Julius berger and RCC did part of lagos-ibadan. Gwagwalada to lokoja and Akure to ilesha. If you go up north u will be amazed. That said, go and check their IGRs. One senator told me recently to go and check out agriculture in 3 main states in the north when I got there i was amazed. Check out their IGRs monthly compared to the west and south. You are talking culture i'm telling you what is happening there. They are alleviating bro. And the ..ing is a process. continuous action. Like I said just sidown and watch the north. I'm from the west i know what i'm saying. It's a completely different environment, they don't have the same geography as the south - the roads should be easier to build. They also don't have as many cars or as busy, thus fewer lorries tearing up the roads. The south-west outside of Lagos is a disgrace in terms of IGR but the north outside of Kano isn't better and even Kano barely performs better than Edo state that has a much smaller population and less than half as many LGAs. There are several southern states with larger IGRs than Kano despite much smaller populations. You want to keep talking about Kano but somehow ignore the entire north east and what it is. As well as Kaduna state and the lack of security. |

chloedogie: You speak about education? Can you see what El-Rufai is doing to the teachers over there. Who among our western and northern governors can take that bold step. I served many many years back in Ahoada-Rivers, between me and you no single SS3 student can independently sit for WAEC and make 2 credits. I did a recent survey of the educational system in Osun with respect to performance in state public schools and discovered that for every 1000 students that sat for waec, only ten will make it to the university. That was done far back in 2015. Like I said, they are reforming and building and alleviating but we are making noise down here.We are living in past glories. Can you see Ekiti that used to be the centre of academics? Ask recent corpers serving in their schools and you will weep for the west. Look at the requirements for each state to make university and you will see what the real issue is. I don't doubt that standards have slipped in public schools in the west but at least parents are sending their children to school in that region instead of sending them out to beg. |

Cjrane2: O'l boy shatap. You saw Malaysia school girls in those Keke.
Besides, despite it's massive population India is more developed than Nigeria in every ramification and you know it. The only comparison that is relevant in that table is the per capita. India has ten times as many people, those other stats you used are useless. And as to the per capita, things started going downhill in Nigeria when certain people decided that ethnocentrism was more important than economic growth. If you look at 2014 Nigeria was ahead. Your point that India is more developed in every ramification is nonsense. Their health indices are atrocious. Their malnutrition rate is amongst the worst on the planet. Likewise childhood stunting and other evils such as the killing of wives and forced marriages. |

chloedogie: Did you read the part where I said they are building it back? You think development is magic? IT comes in trickles and by the time it sums up, how you achieved it will be difficult to answer. And what is the difference between those doing everything within their power to pull out of poverty and those nose diving into poverty? Till we fully had a collapse of economy as a nation we didn't know we were going into it until we woke up and discovered one day. Like I told you, Rome was never built in a day but after the building, those other countries that felt they can wake up one morning and build an empire couldn't do that and couldn't understand the mystery behind the ROMAN development. Just watch the north. Building back what? They haven't put a dent in their health issues or their educational deficit. And they seem loathe to deal with issue that underpins all of their problems - their culture. When they outlaw child marriage and stop the culture of overbreeding then your point might have some merit. In the meantime desertification is looming yet their numbers keep expanding at a faster rate than most other places on this planet. That is a recipe for disaster. |

The little they get from fed allocations are being properly utilized and the south administrators are not doing anything. I just hope other dormant and nonperforming governors will see these and wake up. Gradually they are building that region back and we are forming educated and oil rich. This was how they got the best roads from the inception of this federation. When president Jonathan awarded East West contract and I saw the kind of roads being built by the local un-serious SENTRACO company I just weep for them. Drainage beside those federal roads are not even as deep as the gutters in my compound and they were giving them certificate of completion and commissioning the roads. Most of them have collapsed now. I pray we wake up. And this region IGR except for Lagos and Ogun is second to none. They are really trying LOL. Have you looked at the indices for the north? Have you looked at the absolute poverty rate? Or the illiteracy rate? Or the maternal and infant mortality rates? |
