Other governors with smaller budgets in this same Nigeria built many hospitals in no time so save the fallacy Abeg..
Which governors? Where?

Are these hospitals of the same quality with the same goal of stopping Nigerians from leaving the country for operations? For stopping capital flight? As far as I am aware only this hospital and the one at Summit Hills (Calabar) are being built with the intention of stopping the exodus of Nigerian medical tourists.

The BBC are often irresponsible.

You think that because they are British that they are any less reckless for repeating a tale for which there is no evidence?

If BBC reported it as alleged, didn't they say the location of the restaurant? I am in awka now and nobody has heard anything about this. Hope the doomsayers are not mistaken Osun for Awka.
The original report failed to mention the name of the restaurant, the location of said restaurant, the name of the restaurant owner, the person who claimed that the restaurant served human meat, the name of the policemen involved.

I wonder why anyone would believe or repeat such a tale?

Why is it not a common hospital? Because of the word specialist? Are you for real or you think you are talking to one of your village folks? lmao grin

Show me where on the surface of the earth where it took 8 years to build any hospital and still remain uncompleted...
Hospitals usually take a long time to build.

There was the issue of the partners who are to manage the hospital as well as the contractors.

You should change your username from 'aresa' to 'araba' and go your own way - no one will miss you.

Many excellent roads = That's all he did in Uyo. a few roads and flyover bridge.

Underground storm drains = Uncompleted

Airport = Uncompleted

Tropicana after tens of billions down the drain = Uncompleted

Security = Murder and kidnap capital of Nigeria

Football field = Total waste, obsolete and redundant. Not used since commissioning.

Hotel = Only irresponsible governments spends taxpayers money on hotels and golf courses

Still after 8 years in office and the largest yearly budget in Nigeria, not 1 single completed hospital...

Not 1 single classroom

Not 1 single skills centers

Not 1 single water works

Not 1 single credible health center..

Please sell that crap to your kind...
Who told you that no classrooms have been built? That's another lie.

Health care has been a priority and everyone has access to medical facilities in AKS.

A number of skills training centers have been established, for women in particular.

The AKS University of Technology was established and is running well.

I don't have an exhaustive list of everything that has been done, this is what I can recall from memory but a lot more has been accomplished than you seem to realize.

If you do not know don't spread myths, just admit your ignorance and try not to allow your anger to blind your thinking.

This is quality and must be commrnded irrespective of political inclination. More of this would reduce the medical tourism abroad and curtail the incessant capital flights. Bravo Akwaibom. Well done Akpabio.
That is the plan, to stop the flow of currency out of Nigeria and to capture some of it in AKS.

Couldn't complete 1 common hospital after 8 years in office and he's still an achiever?

You people no go kill pesin with lafta I swear... grin
It's not a 'common hospital' that is your first failure, you do not even understand what has been built.

This is a specialist hospital to stop the flow of money from Nigeria to places like India for medical procedures that are life saving.

It's even a sad and pathetic shame that after 8 years in office and the largest state budgets in Nigeria, this is all you have to show.? Are you for real or just joking?

I repeat, the only non road projects he completed are 1 cinema and 1 redundant and white elephant football field.

Instead of the rubbish you just posted, why don't you prove me wrong? How hard is that to do?
I just gave you a list that disproves your false claim and you scratched it out so that you could repeat your dishonest mantra.

You're just like the xtian fools who scream about their god and spiritual causes and ignore the evidence that is in front of them.

1 Cinema and 1 football field governor...

It took 8 years to uncomplete and uncompleted hospital....

Only in Akpabio's crooked and incompetent world...
Many excellent roads; underground storm drains; free health care for women, children and the elderly; connected many previously isolated rural communities with bridges; upgraded facilities at the university without raising fees drastically; world class hotel and the best golf course on the continent; increased security; completed the airport.

Stop repeating this lie of one cinema and one (world class) football stadium. I can see your bitterness from here.

Think of the lives that would have been saved if the governor took this as a priority and executed this project under two yrs which was the time frame for the construction. the people had to wait 8yrs for a project that was suppose to take 2yrs max.
It takes more than just government will to complete a project like this - contractors are the ones who often slow down projects like this by asking for more money midway through a job, that is an unfortunate reality when dealing with building firms.

Codedeben:
The emphasis is not on "stopping" to greet, but greetings. You must not stop to greet. When you're going to the office, don't you say Hi to people you know? When you're driving and you see a friend or relative, don't you honk? There are several ways of greeting and its not exclusive to Yorubas. Everyone likes to be greeted and appreciated. That's the fact. Back when i was in school, I had a non-Yoruba friend and she's fond of saying thank you after purchasing something or a service was rendered to her, which i initially found awkward till I confronted her and she made me realize its essential greeting people and appreciating them cos it fosters relationships.
You have just agreed with my point. I say hello to those that I know - as do most. A trader is going to have incentive to greet as many people as possible, someone on the move is not.

I'm not one of those claiming that all Yorubas are obsessed with greeting - I said that Nigerians in general are obsessed with seniority, that is the problem,

Saying 'thank you' is basic good manners.

I am in Lagos and still witness it this morning among Hausa water seller, they not only greet them but also alway their well know customers.
Of course they will greet their customers and potential customers. Market traders do what is necessary to attract attention.

What about the people who work in offices? Do you see them stopping to greet everyone on the way to the office?
Culture › Re: Why Are Yoruba's Obsessed With Greeting? by mmsen: 2:09pm On May 16, 2015
Awoofawo:
Igbo are too individuality in nature and tend to be corky.

Look the Hausa and Fulani, every time they meet on the street they will stop and exchange greeting not withstanding the fact both may be complete stranger just meeting for the first time.
Surely it depends on where you are? You can afford to do that in a village but in a place like Lagos or Abuja it becomes cumbersome.
Culture › Re: Why Are Yoruba's Obsessed With Greeting? by mmsen: 1:49pm On May 16, 2015
Awoofawo:
Not just Nigeria, it is an Africa thing.

By the way, when I was I used to do thing the way children known best to amuse themselves, and elders around will be like; hey you there stop what are you doing now or else, and I will be like, why can these people let me have some fun.

But now I am older, the minute saw children doing those thing, I immediately spot the danger inherent in their activities.

With old ages come wisdom and it is only through life experience, one can acquire it.
There are times when kids need to be stopped from causing themselves harm but human beings learn best from experience - there has to be a balance.

Wisdom should come with age but that is not always the case. There are a lot of ignorant elders out there. Many hide behind the doctrine of seniority to avoid being held to account for clear misdeeds.

seriously oo.. Yoruba culture is complex and annoying

for example

In yoruba culture, you cannot be rude to an elder but an elder can be rude to you... infact when u question an elder for being rude, dey tell u that you are being rude for questioning again undecided

very annoying thing in the yoruba culture
Is that just Yoruba culture? Sadly, it seems commonplace amongst all Nigerian peoples. Nigerians seem to be obsessed with seniority.

More self delusion. The colonialists siphoned over 90% of annual export earnings which was why Nigeria was underdeveloped with not a single university or expressway after 63 years of uninterrupted colonial rule. So corruption actually reduced following independence.
There are people who actually think that Britain put Nigeria on a path for success.

They don't understand that Nigeria was run as a business for the benefit of stake holders as opposed to the inhabitants.

I really thought she had. I think she did. Then something happened recently and it meant a family member very close to her decided she couldn't talk to her anymore as it was against bible principles. That person loves my mum, I am certain of this, but now she has 'had to get serious' meaning she must distant herself from my mum. It's so hurtful, my mum has started to recoil into herself sad.
I'm sorry to hear that, sadly I've heard similar tales.

She prays (She calls him God, not Jehovah anymore), she reads her bible, she doesn't attend a church, she tries to live in peace. She has absolutely no inclination of ever returning.

Her disfellowship meant she became the black sheep. She was never bad. Growing up with a disfellowshipped mother meant I never knew a lot of my maternal family until mid teens.

Are you a JW?
Not a JW but I know of a few people whose parents were disfellowshiped, usually for very petty reasons. I know a few families that have been divided as a result of the JWs.

Sounds like your mother has found peace.

Expensive does not make them good.

There is a general lack of value for money when it comes to hotels in Nigeria, especially when compared to Ghana (Accra in particular) where you can spend 1/3 price yet get 3 times the amenities.

I'm not an ex JW, I have never been a JW, but even now I am having to deal with the everlasting effects of my mother's disfellowship approximately 20 years ago.

Are there any former JW's, or JW non-baptised escapees, or even those still trapped inside 'the truth' who feel disillusioned here on NL? For myself and my mother, I have questions.
Does your mother still retain her 'faith' despite her disfellowship?

What caused her to be cast aside by the JWs?
