This is why Nigeria needs to do away with all these 'traditional' monarchs.

None of them serve any positive purpose.

Lol. Pained mofo.
See the apt interest these people have in the igbo language, we don't struggle to be relevant. Even in the UK where yolobaamala eaters have flooded, we still Lord them. Go and Die.
I don't care about Yoruba vs Igbo. I don't understand that silly war that you guys have created over nothing.

This is about immature, unenlightened people craving acceptance from outsiders thus making themselves weak.
Christianity Etc › Re: See What Happened Today In Church. by mmsen: 10:53am On May 10, 2015
I hope the OP opens her eyes to the nature of religion.

Religion is about being close minded and discriminatory to keep the people in check and ensure that the church gets that money.
Christianity Etc › Re: Swedes and Italians Singing In Igbo by mmsen:
You people are like children, forever looking for external approval and then you wonder why the rest of the world has no regard for you.

So many of you have no regard for those with no self-confidence and self-reliance in your own society but you display the same feeble traits on a global setting and expect to be treated with respect.

Must you sell your daughters ? Chai, poverty...
It isn't material poverty but moral and rational poverty that allows practices such as this to continue.

I believe the phrase is "not that religious" meaning, he is not a fanatic.
Most religious people are not 'fanatics'.

But I take your point - 'not that religious'...

Do you have any issues retaining respect for someone who is so clearly a hypocrite?
Christianity Etc › Re: Atheism Does'nt Explain The Spiritual, Why? by mmsen: 12:13pm On May 09, 2015

Yea, he goes to church but he's not that religious, we did have the talk about long haul and how the difference in beliefs can be a problem but he maintains, it won't be, I do know however that, it's not going to be easy. I don't even want a wedding in a church.

Anyways, I'm not worried about it as I believe that, whatever will be will be.

Nah, I'm pretty serious with agnosticism, used to worry about what people will think so I often kept my opinion to myself when religion, spirituality and God is being discussed, not anymore, I don't even realize when I end up speaking up these days as I become bolder with each passing day, matter of factly sef, I end up on the side of atheists in some debates.grin

Never felt happier, more at peace and freer with my self ever since I ditched religion.
Why does he go to church when he is not religious? What keeps him going back?
Business › Re: Dangote Cannot Afford To Buy Arsenal Football Club – Etcetera by mmsen:
I would much prefer that Dangote and Nigerians in general invest in Nigerian football as opposed to overseas football.

Having said that, this guy knows nothing about football finance.

Investing in a football club is akin to building a hotel, it is a cash intensive business in which you will generate losses in the beginning but you will have a more valuable asset.

Health › Re: Abortion Kills 34,000 Women In Nigeria Every Year by mmsen: 8:47am On May 09, 2015
Abortion done properly is a completely safe procedure. If the speaker wanted to criticize an issue it should be the incompetency of Nigerian practitioners and not the right to terminate a fetus.

A lot more than 34,000 women and babies die in childbirth, every year in Nigeria.

Why did they not present comparable stats?

Why are they intent on encouraging unbridled population growth?

If the mothers do not wish to have children, do not force them - Nigeria has enough unwanted and unloved human beings.

Surely the most important question is to figure out if any of these religions are true?
Christianity Etc › Re: Atheism Does'nt Explain The Spiritual, Why? by mmsen: 8:19pm On May 08, 2015
Supernatural events are just things that people cannot currently explain.

When people begin claiming that spirits are the reason for events taking place they have essentially said that they do not know. It is the same as people claiming that god is the cause of an event.

Instead of discovery they latch onto the laziest answer that they can think of. Sadly, Nigerian society makes room for such stupidity.

Someone makes this same thread every few weeks.

Why don't we have a look at the people who professed their love of god but were shown to be evil by their deeds?

The various pastors who fleece their flock.

The priests that defile children.

The religious leaders who call for violence against other human beings.

That would be a much longer list.
Car Talk › Re: Explosion On Lagos To Ibadan Express Way (PHOTOS) by mmsen: 3:22pm On May 08, 2015
kelvine:
With all precautionary factors falling in place, accidents still occur all over the world. How do you explain that ?

Let me help:

Mistakes are usually spiritually induced.

A drunk driver over speeding is evil motivated.

A haulage company refusing to secure goods or containers properly on their truck may have evil intention.

Poverty and corruption can be a cause of poor vehicle and road maintenance, that's also evil.

Bottom line is spiritual forces within and around men are the culprit for accidents.

Road and air crashes aside, how do you explain the course of natural disasters such as the Tsunami, Tornadoes, earthquakes, a fatal thunder strike etc ?
Mistakes are not 'spiritually' induced. That is absolute nonsense. Human beings are imperfect and make errors.

Natural phenomena have nothing to do with 'spirits' or any supernatural mythology, (ask a geographer or a geologist if you want real answers) - to argue otherwise is to display a disturbing level of infantile thinking. That was the mindset of people in the Middle Ages who also believed that the world was flat and that by burning witches they would be saved from misfortune. Misfortune that was usually brought about by poor waste disposal practices and other regressive practices.

What use are any of these traditional rulers?

It is a sensitive topic identifying the thin line between science and spirituality. Yes, scientific measures could have prevented accidents but still spiritual forces can frustrate or outsmart such procedures.
What are these 'spiritual' forces?

The body needs sustenance and rest.

Machinery needs to be maintained.

If everyone on the roads does those things and if the roads are maintained and drivers know how to drive properly then accidents like this will be a lot less common.

Pray before you move. The enemies of Nigeria are on the highway now.

No way. If wages are to be slashed it should be those of politicians, not poor civil servants. Do you know how much our legislators and governors earn? yet they still have severance package and pensions for themselves. Please don't go down that route.
Legislators and governors are also public sector workers.

They should all have their wages cut as well as their numbers.

Most of them are fundamentally useless.

Always in the quest to mortgage local industries and now football ; why not boost the standard of Nigeria football leagues to international standard? Why not invest in building stadium and rent it out? Of what help will investing in European football clubs be to a common Nigerian? You can turn Nigerian football to international standard if you really desire to sir. Lastly United practices simple xenophobia because they won't even sign a black player not to talk of selling it to a Blackman.
Man United have had many 'black' players during their successful years.

They have 'black players' in their youth set-up.

You made some great points but completely undermined your own credibility by making a completely farcical statement of fact.

Did you read the post at all? Never judge a post by its headline.
Your proposal is exactly what the writer requested which you termed silly.

@post, I completely agree with Igwe, this could be the opportunity the Nigerian football clubs need to gain the required exposure to soar to greater heights.

If Dangote can invest in this, I see the face of Nigerian football experiencing unprecendented growth.
It would also have a positive influence on the Nigerian economy.
The author suggested that he invest in Nigerian football after spending on Arsenal or Man United - which is what I termed silly.

It is nonsensical to build someone else's home before building your own.

Maybe you should learn to read before calling out others.

True federalism would put an end to any of this talk of being abused by the government. That is what we should all be agitating for.

Premier league ownership is for billionaires with high liquidity. Dangote never reach this level now. Give him another 10 years till he gets his refinery going. This is strictly cash matters, unless the naija Mugu banks want to finance this purchase. Dangote his highly leveraged for now.
Dangote is worth more than most of them and EPL has financial fair play rules to stop financial doping - very few billionaires are high liquidity.

Abramovich is worth 9 billion. Kronke is worth 6. The Glazers are worth 4.5. Only Man City's sheikh has more money than Dangote.

With an asset like Arsenal FC he could easily borrow from UK banks if needed.

Of course, we have to remember that football is more than just money throwing money around - Man City have found that out the hard way.
