I watched that clip on Al-Jazeera and was shocked that our own Harvard-trained, World Bank M.D had suddenly become incomprehensible and surprisingly simpleminded. Her responses on the introduction of hundreds of buses in our cities with bad road networks shows the huge disconnect between those in govt. and the realities on ground. Worse was the statement about child immortality rate high and the need to channel subsidy funds to help curb it, it all sounded more like what a poorly schooled Local govt. Chairman will say to justify his forthcoming allocation he intends to embezzle. Everyone knows that recent growth indicators show that in the next 25 years Nigeria is going to be the next best thing after the BRICS nations, however there has to be a complete paradigm shift for all of that to become a reality. We need to check corruption and not just govt corruption, graft at all levels of our national live.
It involves a lot of things from our attitude to work to our moral values as individuals and our family expectations, we all think we are saints cos we are not around the seat of power, wait till you get into office and Uncles and 3rd cousins you didn’t know existed suddenly make you their bread winner. It’s a silly Nigerian thing and something we have got to check. Its like our families expect us to get into power and loot public funds, and just in case u think you are our 'Moral Ayatollah' ask urself if u have ever gotten to work late and written an earlier time or called in sick cos u wanted to just rest at home or go somewhere else, if u have, then am afraid chances are u are another Lucky Igbinedion or Emmanuel Uduaghan in the making. Our system makes it a lot easier to be an Igbinedion than a Fashola, why I honestly wouldn't know , i guess it’s like Clinton said we don’t need strong men we need strong institutions (whatever that means i thought men make up these institutions)

I would still place my bets on IT, energy, and healthcare, if we are talking 10 years, four of which will have been wasted by GEJ.

IT and healthcare will be mainly private sector driven, while the government will be forced to carry out some measure of liberalization in the power sector, and that should spur growth.

Every other one is just a big dream.

Me thinks some industries have a chance of doing well independent of govt. input and that's why i agree with Ajanlekoko's submission.Healthcare and I.T have been growing pretty much without govt support hence people with skills in those areas will continue to soar and the oil majors will continue to sustain the growth in the oil industry so long as demand for Bonny sweet light is high.however with miraculous improvement in government policies the agriculture/food sector could enjoy a boost as well as construction, in summary now is the time to improve any[b] skill[/b](not certifications) that only 5% of the population can do.

I think project mgt will be the in thing cos with the massive construction projects and infrastructure that need to be done to back up the increase in our population.

I also think agriculture is a place to look except Govt's inadequate attention in that section is making it more risky and capital intensive.

Healthcare will always remain relevant cos increase in population will mean more sick people, on the average i really think Nigeria is the place to be in the next 10 years, the market potential is awesome.

Rather, they are obsessed with cloudy and exaggerated notions of their own goodness/desirability, and remain in that illusion with the hope that prince charming would jump out of the Big Screen and marry them warts and all. They feel no need to rein in their self-centredness and they also do not see the need to 'prove' themselves to the man who's truly a good guy.

Another category of 'good' girls with this problem involves those that are really good - not at all promiscuous: with very pious lifestyles and good morals. However, they are often insecure and forbidding. If a decent guy walks up to them, he's sure to get a cold shoulder - either because the girl feels she's not fine enough for him, or because she feels the guy is just another wolf looking for sex. Either way, she loses every potential suitor by building a wall of steel around herself. How then is she supposed to find a husband?

Peugeot 504?

It's a tough, hard-wearing car, very much at home in African countries. In some African countries, it's used as a bush taxi, due to it's virtually indestructible nature. The much more modern Peugeot 505 was meant to be the 504's replacement, but was less durable. The 504 ended up out-living it, with the previously announced production being extended for many more years. It was produced in Kaduna up till 2005, whereas the 505 only made it till 1995.

Chinese production of the Peugeot 504 continued up till 2009.

Parts are extremely cheap, and easy to come by. The Peugeot 504 is simplicity in itself, and easy to work on, even by a novice. Minimal electrics, no ECU or fuel injection (at least not in Nigeria). Nigerian models were available in the following trim levels:

L
GL
GR
GLS
SR
Bestline

The 504 GL was the most luxurious model. The GL designation didn't just stop at the engine and interior trim. The GL had independent rear suspension, compared to all other models which had live rear axles. The IRS on the GL meant the body shell was remarkably different to L, GR, SR and GLS models. The rear suspension components were not interchangeable between the GL and other models.

The GL also benefited from having disc brakes at the rear, all other models made do with drums. GL models were twin-carburettor fed, and the engines were all 2,0. Other models were 1,8 with single carburettor. The GLS did have the GL's 2,0 engine, but shared the bodyshell with lesser models. All 504 models were 4-speed manual, excluding the 504 pic-up truck, which was fitted with the 5-speed manual from the 505.

The GL Station Wagon however, did not benefit from independent rear suspension, like the saloon models. All wagons had live rear axles like the L, SR and GLS saloons, but with beefier springs to cope with higher loads.

Old Faithful! which car do you think can be compared in contemporary times to have the same durability and ruggedness on Nigerian roads like the 504.Me thinks probably the Toyota Camry, especially the 98,99 editions. That car sure has some Peugeot in its blood.
