Oga, didn't you see cross deal there?
Also, those were daily market update, about what was on-going in the market. Different from how market eventually closed.

Changing old posts to reply comments before the comment itself so the commenter won’t see grin grin after they would say it’s only one person that’s acting surreptitiously on the platform

Don’t worry Madam. You can always reply and it won’t turn to quarrel. Just an intellectual debate

Unless the government comes up with a negative policy, you never get it wrong with good Fundamental stocks

How can people be praising daily price movements that don’t hold. Predicting upward trends for stocks that are ending in daily losses.

Day 5 - GTB down - zenith catching the bug
I was about to ask what was going on because I know sectors always follow the market leader and GTB is the market leader in the naija banking sector and yet despite the fact that GTB had been down for 4 straight trading days zenith was still going strong but now I see it’s catching on

Sir that’s good but abit still too high.
We need it to be something like 24-26 so that when we enter we can be sure of 30% profit or more (considering price appreciation + dividends)

See the deceptive nature of these guyz. Everyone mentioning caution and awareness of factual negative trends is bad and a moniker of The Great Octopus. Yet those blindly leading others to risk hard earned capital in a bearish market and preaching limitless Bull are the good guyz.

Have you guyz no decency undecided
The truth is some see bull and some see bear all are welcome to state with facts and all must do due diligence.
Everything else spawns from deception.

Zenith Bank Executive Director purchases additional 1 million shares worth N23.65 million

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Zenith Bank Nigeria Plc has notified the Nigerian Stock Exchange that Dr. Temitope Fasoranti, an Executive Director in the bank, has acquired 1,000,000 additional units of Zenith Bank shares, worth N23.65 million.

There must be something these guyz are seeing to make these moves and am sure this is the kinda move that’s going on in the other similar institutions in the sector.

Option 3: Again you can scrap from NSE website or Morgan capital platform directly. I use requests, BeautifulSoup and selenium modules for this task.

#systematic trader cheesy

So...erm...
You will need to be cautious when scrapping websites. A friend of mine once got a cease and desist letter from NSE for stocks price scraping way back in 2015 or so.

Your aren’t anonymous as you have an IP address that can be traced back to you except you use a VPN and even that can be traced so be careful doing it on a naija company website. You may want to check their policy cyber and otherwise or make yourself completely anonymous online grin grin

Thanks

Returns got to 1 mil in 2014(2 years after), dropped to 190k in 2016(2 more years), grew to 1.5 mil in 2018(another 2 years). Finally, it closed at 1.12 mil in 2020.

What a ride! Need to find a way to cut the drawdowns, I think filtering with crude price under usd 40 could improve returns.

Really great move Mehn.
Was wondering...
1. Did you connect straight to NSE and get the data in real-time. The latency may ultimately affect the response of the algorithm. Last I heard it was about 100k annually I think
2. Running the app (software and database) will be okay on your laptop to begin with but as time goes on you would need a desktop high end server (think gaming alien wear computers) for scaling. This will also increase processing time and can affect results also
3. Were you able to do any data preprocessing to clean the data and remove noise, standardization, normalization, principal component analysis and all that good stuff etc. that night improve efficiency of the app. Using more precise data.
4. Comparing the algorithm with AI algorithm could also work. I mean like using neural networks, or regular data science support vector machine or naive bayes etc and combining it with your model as the core.

You are on to something great. I hope you continue to the end. A good software developer and a strong financial expert who knows models will be of extreme benefit to you.

You are doing what Renaissance Technology founder Jim Simons did and today he is one of the richest men in the world. The difference is he had a lot of competition in the USA but given you are in naija you are a pace setter and can reap the rewards early.

A lot or research and trial and error is required but if you are resilient you will make it. Keep going !!!

Abeg sorry everyone for the long post grin grin

From the history of a stock you can tell what’s most likely to happen with a period.
It’s a part of what’s called technical analysis
Pls observe and do your DD

Many people talking about holding forever even during down times which is partially true but anyone who was in unity bank during its price halving or Oando during its serious price depreciation knows there are two sides to every story
Good luck to all

Waoh! Thanks.
This is one good way to handle the situation.
However, those with limited funds won't be able to successfully practice this.
Should we now say, holding cash is the best bet for those set of investors? OR
Buy and just close eyes to up/down mvmt of prices?

Highly surprised by this statement.
The only reason Jesse Livermore lost all the 150 m dols he made after years of ups and down was because he didn’t respect the game. It’s dangerous to just be buying for buying sake. But only when it’s time to buy. When the market is unsure sit on your cash and if you are anxious about waiting distract your self with temporary project or employment and leave the market. Problem is, opportunity(-ies) to buy or sell at projected prices doesn't come in a regular pattern.

There is no need for this policy other than profiling of investors for godsknowswhy. sad
Something comes to mind. While in university a friend mentioned that some people trade anonymously by using their financial investor or their lawyers to trade. This way the buck stops at them and it’s forbidden by Attorney–client privilege or lawyer–client privilege for them to reveal their clients. Now ofcourse some small service providers will shake when slapped with law suit from govt, hence you will need a lawyer that has clout and reputation/money who isn’t afraid. Think Rotimi Williams status etc
Ofcourse this is all to say if what my friend said was true.
grin grin

Edited :-
To make it harder sef. You can use a lawyer in a different country with no Nigeria international policy relation. It doesn’t even have to be outside of Africa. Am sure even another African country in ecowas will be hard enough let alone one without political relations etc
I love my country Oooo and am loyal to Nigeria forever. Happy to pay my taxes and abide by any law mandated by the govt. This is all just playing with ideas grin grin

Finally some sense in this market.
Everyone keeps saying there’s is money in the market but no one knows where it’s coming from.
Since last year Bloomberg videos has been saying funds away from Asia and USA
Pls where does that leave ?

Pls O. Senior men and ladies in the house
I would like to ask if anything would’ve happened to investors funds or if investors would have experienced purchasing or selling difficulties if the court had granted GTB wish to go private ?
If anyone may shed more light on this it would be highly appreciated
